Stopped for a bite and a beer before going to infinity in Norfolk for a show last week. Ordered 2 beers, a burger and chicken cordon Bleu flatbread. Beers were the best part ! Food was disappointing. Flat bread overcooked, and mustard was too heavily applied. Fries were awful . Staff was friendly, but service very slow . Offered 10percent off the overcooked over mustard-ized flatbread, or make another one. Due to time constraints I had to eat what I could...which is how I know how bad it was. I feel paying 49$ for the experience was a total rip off. Changing the oil and cleaning fryers really makes a difference in the quality of a fried potato! FOOD; Brisket did not show up on our poutine special, and had to be added, and brown gravy sauce was Luke warm at best. The wings we ordered were not the Tai Chilli we ordered but the Jamaican Jerk?. SERVICE; as you have already read, possibly not the cooks fault but our server. Seemed flustered and unsure of daily specials. AMBIANCE; If I thought it wasnt too loud last time, I was wrong. Second visit here and they never disappoint, they make amazing burgers. Onion rings are on point, Tots are a little on the salty side but bluer tasty and their fries are very good as well. If they have the southwest eggrolls on their specials menu be sure to get them, so good! Seasonal pomegranate cider & pineapple seltzer were great...they are VERY heavy on the IPA's. Little Red Barn Brewers is a craft brewery that opened in Winsted, Connecticut in July 2019. It was founded by brothers Matthew and Nathan Day and their friend Nina Johnson. The Day Brothers received a beer-making kit as a gift. The first beer they ever made was horrible, but they had fun making it and decided to keep up with the hobby. The brothers started an informal home-brewing club with Johnson. After stinking up their parents' kitchen in Barkhamsted, the brothers and Johnson moved their home-brewing activities into a little red horse barn on the property. A friend of theirs with years of brewing experience showed them the proper techniques to take brewing to the next level. Eventually the trio began peddling their beer at local beer festivals and fundraisers. When they decided to go professional, the partners set up shop at the old Lambert Kay building in Winsted. The former business used to manufacture dog leashes and other items until it closed in the early 1990s. When it came time to name their brewery, they dubbed it Little Red Barn Brewers as a reference to their origins. I first visited Little Red Barn Brewers in August 2019. I don't get to the Northwestern corner of Connecticut often, so I thought that I would make a day trip and visit some new breweries. The taproom was really nice! Not only did the brewers do a good job at restoring the historic building, but they used a lot of repurposed wood. I loved the whole red barn decorative theme that the place had and I really enjoyed seeing all of the historic Winsted photographs on the walls. I decided to order a sampler flight. The four beers I went with were: "Edgeworks IPA" (Session IPA), "Freshly Squeezed" (New England IPA), "Roll in the Hay" (Double IPA), and "Everyman's Porter". I really enjoyed all of the beers, but my favorite was the Double IPA. During my visit, the food truck on the premises was BBQ by Chris. I was pretty hungry so I ordered some BBQ sliders and fried dough to go with my beer. Everything was delicious! I ended up purchasing a crowler of the Double IPA to take home. I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely stop in again if I'm in the area. read more

I know that "taste" is an individual thing, but I was pretty surprised by my reaction to their beers. But more on that later. Their tasting room and bar area are absolutely beautiful. It's a big space with plenty of room for tables and chairs. There are huge windows around three perimeter walls, so on a sunny afternoon (like Saturday) it really makes for a pretty effect. The bar itself is massive and very inviting to sit at and have a few. The beer selection is impressive - thirteen varieties and a local cider. I went with a flight of four - Mad River Pilsner (4.5 ABV), Cow Tippin' Copper Ale (5.6 ABV, Rescue Red Ale (5.6 ABV), and Squires Tavern Ale (6.5 ABV). I intentionally went for their non-IPA's because I don't like IPAs. Now to the surprise, I really didn't care for any of the four. Pilsners are usually a safe bet for me because they have a mild taste and are super drinkable. But I just couldn't warm up to their Mad River Pilsner. I disliked the Squires Tavern Ale as well, to the point that I didn't finish it. Truth be told, I wasn't crazy about any of my four, which is really odd. Cool history of brewery, including the pursuing of dreams of the owners who were high school friends. We were in the area and decided to stop in. Upon ordering drinks from the bar, we were told that we could to take a seat and we would be waited on. We decided to sit outside since it was a beautiful Fall day. The waitress brought us drink and food menus. Besides giving us our drinks, she never came by again to ask about food or bring the check. It wasn't that busy, but I think she switched to bartending. Regarding the drinks, not everyone in our group liked them, especially the coconut flavored ones and the blackberry one, which they said was bland. The Octoberfest and wheat beer were better. At one point I had wondered if I had gotten the correct drink. Needless to say, we will not be returning should we be in the area again. read more

What a lovely place to stop! Located in Winsted, it's off the main road just enough so you do not feel like you're in the middle of the bustle. They are nestled near some trees and has a very nice outdoor area. We went on a Saturday night when it was busy, but the service was excellent. There was enough outdoor seating on the patio and front of the building. They had live music and a food truck which was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I really enjoyed that they had table service outside rather than having to go back into the bar. The server was very attentive. He made some small talk, which was nice and not too over bearing. Now the important part- the beer! We decided to get flights since we only find ourselves in the north west part of the state a few times of the year. I tried the fruited Shandy, an IPA, the black IPA and the porter. I am throughly impressed by all. The shandy was so refreshing- nice for a summer day. The IPA was hoppy (as always) and a little sweet so it was refreshing also. The Black IPA tasted more like a coffee porter but I was a fan! The porter was also very good, I liked it more than the Black IPA. Had a little more body. I definitely look forward to visiting this place again! read more

This brewery has amazing beers and amazing service! Their IPA's are delicious. I had 3 (I forget the names but I asked the server for recommendations each time). The most incredible part is that we wanted to sit outside under an umbrella in the rain by the river with our dog. They came out multiple times to check on us in the POURING RAIN. Little Red Barn is the best hang out spot. It's got a rustic/indie vibe about it. Very unique beers and a great selection of wine. The food trucks they have there are also delicious. I had a lobster grilled cheese that was to die for. Servers are friendly and attentive. They have live music sometimes which is cool. They even did an event I attended around the holidays where they had local shops selling out of booths and the kids got to meet Santa Claus. This new place is set to become trendy! We visited today as we were passing through and were told it has only been opened for 5 days but I have a feeling it will stay standing for a loooong time. This brewery is full of history from the tables to the stools to the bar too and tap handles! It seems like every bit of furniture was carefully and beautifully crafted using old doors from the Colebrook, reclaimed chestnut wood from the community and reclaimed wood from an old barn and way more other woods and stuff that well, you have to come and check out for yourself. Ohhh BUT THE TABLE! The "round table" the only one of its kind crafted from an old church window. This table is a masterpiece! The brew list, as of now, features 4 in-house brewed beers and 4 other local beers. The Little Red Barn Mad River Pilsner is already the most popular in-house brewer beer and I can totally see why. It has a very light, yet crisp and smooth flavor that quenched my thirst! The Little Red Barn Rescue Red is a very well balanced amber brewed, a littler heavier than I like but my husband loved it but truly he didn't love it as much as he/we both loved the Brass Works Orange Farmhouse Ale. This beer takes Ale beers to a whole new level with its citrusy fragrance and sweet refreshing taste that lingers in your palate well after you are done! Little Red Barn Brewers has been brewing beer for a bit, but this physical location is brand new, having opened in July. We didn't get a chance to visit last time we were in the area, but after a hike in American Legion State Forest, we came here to check it out! They have a spacious parking lot, and indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating (as of this review) is dog friendly, as always check with the brewery first, as rules and enforcement is always subject to change. The indoor area is very nice as well, they did a lot of work on restoration, with an emphasis on the local history of the area. They have a bar area for ordering, and they offer flights as well as full pours. The beers are excellent here, it was nice to see an ESB on a tap list - it's been a while! My only complaint whatsoever is that the cornhole area is rather close to the outdoor tables which can make things a little exciting, but overall that's a minor complaint! read more

Went here several times. It has a nice variety of beers;I am partial to the Rescue Red Ale. I enjoy the atmosphere inside. They have a nice sounding music system and frequently have live music.
