I stopped by ClockTown Brewing Company on a colleague's recommendation, and wow, she just earned my full trust when it comes to brewery tips. I had two samples and ended up falling in love with the Big T IPA. Their craft beer selection is outstanding! The space itself is gorgeous. The outdoor patio is beautiful, bright, and inviting, totally ideal for sunny afternoons or a relaxed evening with friends. Inside, things were quiet when I arrived, but it quickly started filling up. Service was just as impressive. My bartender greeted me with a genuine smile and gave spot-on recommendations. The food? Fantastic. Over the top. I ordered the Poutine. The fries were perfectly crispy, the queso was rich and flavorful, and the egg on my dish was absolute perfection. Everything was fresh, hearty, and designed to complement the beer list. I almost ordered the frittata (which I hear is massive) and definitely plan to try a pizza next time. Been to Clocktown several times over the years, mostly for work party gatherings, and any pizza we've had there has usually been pretty good. I would've even put it as a contender for second best in town! We tried ordering it for pickup for an office party last week, and while the top looked beautiful, we were shocked to find it was borderline raw underneath. Totally underbaked with a gooey layer in between the crust and sauce & cheese. Not sure if it was just an off day or maybe their oven hadn't come up to temp yet because we ordered it for 12:30pm, but this was a bummer! read more

Excellent food and drinks! I started with a Moscow mule, and then had an amazing espresso martini, both were phenomenal. I was most impressed with huge salad- I went with the clocktown signature and added a burger. I asked for my burger well done and it was nicely crisped and chopped on the salad. Best brewery in town! Great atmosphere, very crowded even on a week day but still quite you can easily have a conversation. They have an amazing pizza oven that is massive and have so many different personal pizza options ( we shared between 2 people and it was the perfect amount). The beer though was the best part. This was our first time so we tried some of their best sellers. The brew master actually came out and was checking in on people and brought us some samples of their seasonal beers and they were fantastic!! I'm honestly surprised that these guys are rated just below 4 stars, for they deserve every one of the accolades. For starters, the brewery is a renovated building in the old mill industrial lot, but the looks alone are stellar. Wrought iron low fence, welcoming outside seating, in short, you wanna come in even before you see what's inside. Inside is your average sports bar setup. But, the staff was warm and welcoming, even though their high chairs are a relic of Spanish inquisition (trust me, take the low table). Excellent selection of fresh brews, with tanks looming just beyond the bar, and very decent menu (more on that in just a sec). TVs all around the rafters, up high, but still easily viewable without cranking your neck. Sound is a tad loud. Perhaps the management could look into some ceiling sound deadening. Our waitress was warmth impersonated, with both of us, jerks, (my sister and I), loving her attention to detail, knowledge, and willingness to accommodate our for wishes. Now, the food. (Sorry, can't speak for their brews, as I enjoyed a bourbon with a huge ice cube. Twice.) While their menu isn't overly extensive, the two aforementioned picky eaters (my sister and I) had easily found multiple choices to suit our taste buds. And, boy, were those little guys happy! Now, you'd think that something as simple as chicken wings or fries is impossible to rave about, but, their fries were some of the best I've ever had (yes, I asked. No, I lost the best, and they're not house made. Yes, I had to publicly admit in front of my sister that I was wrong). And, the chicken wings quickly disappeared without us even noticing the responsible party. My burger was another matter. (country burger) They make a smashed burger, and I wasn't overly thrilled with my flat patty. But, after a polite request, Kelly reassured me that they'll make an effort, and, boy, did they ever! The result was a symphony of juices, crunches, and bacon-y goodness over the juiciest burger patty I've had in a long time. Yes, I said "thank you". Yes, I praised their food. Several times. We came here for the first time for my sister's birthday and we enjoyed our experience. The appetizers were the star of the show. The brown sugar dry rub wings were everyone's favorite. The mozzarella sticks were some of the best I had and we enjoyed the pretzels. We would probably skip the nachos next time however. The entrees were a little less impressive. The cheese pizza was barely cooked and very doughy. However the burgers and chicken tacos were hits. The mac and cheese was okay but I would get the burger next time. The crispy chicken you can add is just a chicken tender with mostly breading. We skipped dessert because we were so full. The space itself is pretty loud but was not surprising. Quite pleased with my evening at Clocktown. It was a tad busy, so my party decided to sit at the bar. Service was good, the bartenders were kind and attentive. My island lemonade was delicious and came in a gorgeous glass. We got two pizzas, the classic cheese & the Clocktown white. Both very yummy. The sauce to cheese ratio on the classic cheese pizza was perfect. The crust on the outside was very crisp, however not so crisp in the middle. Thoroughly enjoyed the Clocktown white pizza. If you love wings then this should be your go-to place! Each time we've had the wings here they are crispy and so flavorful. Our most recent visit included the honey sauce that was charged up with a bit of spice - a great combination. The Bourbon BBQ flavor is always a winner. There is also plenty of variety of pizza - wood-fired and many times a special combination is offered. Gluten-free crust is also an option. Clocktown's beer also doesn't disappoint. On our most recent visit, I enjoyed a flight of Pendulum English Pub Ale, Quitting Time Porter and Sucker for Blondes blond ale. All were well balanced and very tasty. I have also had their Harvest Time Amber Ale and Ol' Red Irish Red Ale and both are very good as well. I noticed they've added a 32-oz crowler to their menu for beers on tap and that is a great alternative for those who don't want a full growler. My only caution is that it gets pretty loud inside with the high ceilings in the former Seth Thomas Clock Factory. It is a wonderful atmosphere and I love the history, as well as the inner clockworks that decorate the walls. Many times live musicians are featured. What a gem we stumbled upon this weekend! A friend recently recommended Clocktown Brewing and so we decided to head there for his birthday! We hadn't heard about it before but it just opened at the end of 2020. Props to them because it felt like they've been doing this for a while. They had a great outdoor patio with tons of seating and cornhole. Tucked away in Thomaston, CT inside an old clock factory this place was giving off alllll the vibes. They have a pretty packed food menu including brick oven pizza right on site! They're almost more of a restaurant than a brewery because they provide table service for their foods & drinks. They also have a full bar with cocktails for all the non beer drinkers. Their beers were all really impressive. As a big fan of sours, I enjoyed their Raspberry Berliner Weisse "First Hour" but the real star was their blonde ale "Sucker for Blondes" AMAZING. I even had to take a crowler home! Onto the food we ordered.....*heart eyes* We started with their cheesey garlic bread and was surprised (pleasantly) when it was pretty much a cheesey garlic PIZZA. YEAH OK. SIGN ME UP. We also ordered the wings which felt like they weren't dressed enough. After that round we got fries (so crispy and so yum) and their "Clocking Out" pizza (THE BEST). It was advertised as a spicy pizza but it had the perfect amount without being overwhelming. It was honestly incredible. One of the best pizza topping combos we've had. This was such a great find and even though it was a bit of a drive for us, we will definitely be back! If it's warm out the outdoor patio is perfect, even some cornhole boards to pass the time. Trivia and live music, really a great spot. Clocktown Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Thomaston, Connecticut in October 2020. It was founded by husband and wife George and Stacey LaCapra and their business partner Ed Daigneault. George and Ed had bonded over a shared love of craft beer during their daughters' soccer games. Ed was a longtime sports writer for the Waterbury Republican-American newspaper but had also dabbled with homebrewing. George is president of UniMetal Surface Finishing which is housed inside the historic old Seth Thomas Clock Company factory. Seth Thomas began making clocks in 1813 and had incorporated his company by 1853. Thomaston was originally part of the neighboring town of Plymouth. Thomas used to label his clocks with "Thomas Town" and by 1875 Thomaston officially separated from Plymouth and became its own town. The factory closed down in 1970 and has since been repurposed for other businesses. Since there was more space available, it was George's idea to start a brewery inside the old factory and name it "Clocktown" in honor of the town's history. In addition to brewing beer, Clocktown also has a full restaurant menu featuring wood-fired pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and a full brunch menu on Sundays. Chris Sheeler (a former brewer from Two Roads Brewing) was later hired as an assistant brewer. My wife, son and I stopped at Clocktown for the first time last Sunday to get some lunch. The building was beautiful! We loved all of the clockwork and gears decor around the taproom. Since it was a nice day, we opted to sit outside on the patio. I ordered a taster flight which consisted of "Nightmare On Elm" (New England IPA), "Factory Series 03" (Double New England IPA), "Tripel Decker" (Belgian Tripel), and "Quittin' Time" (Porter). Everything was really good, but "Nightmare On Elm" was my favorite; I purchased a growler of it to bring home. My wife ordered a Strawberry Rosé cocktail, which she really enjoyed. We were all really hungry for pizza (especially our son), so we ordered a Pizza Margherita, Potato & Rosemary pie, and the 'Pizza of the Month': "The CBAT" (garlic & oil, cheddar & mozzarella, breaded chicken, bacon, tomato & arugula drizzled with lemon pepper aioli). I came here for a drink and lunch before seeing a play in the nearby theatre and was pleasantly surprised at how large and nice the place was! On the drive up to it I wasn't expecting much but was easily proven wrong! The outside seating was large and the inside even more so. There was a full bar and plenty of other beverage options available if you didn't want beer. The food menu (especially the Sunday brunch) was also diverse and filled with others. My husband and I both got flights and tried 8 different beers between the two of us. All the options were good, I especially liked the hefeweizen. The pricing was reasonable and everyone friendly. I went last Saturday for my nieces wedding that was held at this brewery. I live in Las Vegas so this was a new experience for me. The restaurant and staff did an amazing job of providing a fantastic night. This was only the second time they have ever closed for a private event and you would never know. They did an amazing job. The staff was friendly and polite the setting was really cool and the food was good. Pizzas were really good and the beers were excellent. Different from other breweries I've been too around the country. Some interesting and unique flavors. If they can honestly pull of an event like this for 140 people I can't see why they are not a go to place for this area of CT. I was really impressed and where I live we have a lot of great breweries and restaurants and this matched what we have in vegas for a brewery. What a great place !!! Great beer, really good food and attentive staff all wrapped up in a historic former clock factory. We went to a Brewfest over Memorial Day weekend where you had a chance to vote for your favorite beer. After tasting 20 or so beers from about 15 different CT breweries we stopped at the ClockTown Brewing Company tent and tried their "Time Flies" doppelbock. My wife and I (who generally like very different beers) both decided that "Time Flies" was our event favorite. After talking with the staff we decided we needed to check out the brewery. It was going to be about an hour and twenty minute round trip, but it turned out it was worth every minute of it. ( Note: We were tasting not guzzling.). The brewery is in a classic 19th century factory and is a cavernous single room which has the advantage of allowing the sound to disburse when folks get fired up enjoying themselves. One of the unique things about this brewery is that they have a full liquor license for those who come for the food and would rather have their alcohol without the malt and hops. We shared a wood fired pizza and naked wings. Both of which were excellent. Oh yes, the beer. We each had another "Time Flies" and shared a beer flight to get a taste of some of the rest of their beers. The first thing I noticed was the uniqueness of each of their beers. Too many brewers find their favorite hops and then use them in all of their brews. Each of the ClockTown brews we tried was pleasantly unique. Our takeaway from our visit was that ClockTown Brewing Company is worth the trip from anywhere. We will be back. read more

Couldn't find anything they need to improve on. They opened in October, 2020 and I expected to not like the beer because they are new and I hadn't heard of them before but I was wrong. I tried 5 beers including IPA's, Belgian ale and a stout and they were all excellent! I was craving an espresso martini and this was also tasty. They have a full bar. We also ordered battered and fried cauliflower and you can choose your sauce like the sauces on chicken wings. I ordered the spicy honey one and it could have been a little hotter. They also have wings, burgers, salads and other goodies. Instead of just a cheese pizza we asked if we could have the spicy sauce that comes on another pizza and it was spicy. A great tasting sauce. The decor was great and tables were spaced far apart. The bar was cool with a thick concrete top and they had plexiglass dividers at the bar. For a while they had 80's music which was right up our alley. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Can't wait to go when it's warm out and sit outside. read more

The owners George and Stacy of Clocktown Brewing Company have created a destination and hangout for those who love great food, amazing beer, and a vibrant atmosphere. You can find them running food or slinging drinks, and along with Merlinda the bar manager you always get superior service which adds to the overall top-notch experience. Beer - I love what I consider their Flagship beer. Nightmare on Elm. NE IPA Citrusy, flavorful, easy-drinking IPA that still holds a little weight at 6.4%. Also, for those who like darker beers, the stout Chocolate Factory drinks like a lager. Won't fill you up and has the flavor of delicious cocoa, I believe it has a connection to a local chocolate store Fascia's I could be wrong. Lastly, whatever sour they have on is delicious. Doesn't have that unbearable sour taste you find with a lot of sours and isn't only 3 or 4% its a solid 5%+ Food - I've had a handful of pizzas made in their wood fire pizza oven from Italy. I've eaten from all the best pizza spots in the state. Their pizza can stand up to any of them. My favorites and the Right on Q, or the Potato and Rosemary. I've also had their wings which I think may be wood-fired too, along with their battered cauliflower for those not feeling meat, or who want to try a delicious alternative are great starters if you need something to split for the table. Lastly, the outdoor patio is huge with ample parking, tables with umbrellas, cornhole sets, music playing outside. Inside is huge and bright, with a bunch of high-top tables and regular low-tops as well. Beautiful exposed brick, views of the brew kettles in back. Gorgeous full bar for those that are not huge beer drinkers. And they have really quality merchandise, with an appealing logo. Friendly staff that is second to none. They have some younger people working there who are very seasoned. I was impressed. It's rumored that they are making a banquet room in the back if it hasn't already been completed. Unfortunately, I haven't been there in a few months. I need to take a trip back there soon. I highly recommend taking a trip to Clocktown if you like great food, service, and drinks. This place is second to none. Before I forget I attached a picture of a tribute that they did for the fallen soldiers in August which was one of the classiest things I've ever seen.
