The building is rather unassuming - sort of strip mall architecture but when you walk in the vibe is totally different. It's comfortable to hang out for a brew or two and definitely try something to eat. The beer menu is pretty good with a variety of brews, ciders, seltzers. They also offer wine and cocktails. The food menu is creative offers locally sourced meats and vegetables with vegan, vegetarian and meat options. There is an outside patio in back and a pool table. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Awful. I stopped in because they advertised smash burgers, which I love. It was terrible. The roll was huge and not toasted or even warmed, the burger was about 1/8 of a pound and it was NOT what a smash burger is supposed to be. No crispy edges, no greasy goodness. They gave me a mountain of over cooked French fries of which I ate about eight and left the rest. I tried samples of two of their brewery draft beers and they were barely cold. I need my beer ice cold so I passed on beer at a brewery. OMG. I also ordered the carrots as a side and they were delicious so that was good. $22 plus tip right down the drain. This will be a mixed review. It's hard to rate all of our meals as one. Our waitress was nice, seemed a little distracted, but she was ok. The menu for this place looked amazing, which is why we wanted to try it out. I had the Shroomin' on Truffles burger. I liked it I think I would have liked a double, I forgot about the smash burger part making it a thin burger. The flavors were good. I could taste the truffles in my mushrooms and I liked the kick of the pickled jalapeños. My DH got the grilled cheese with short rib meat. He said it was ok. Not as amazing as the menu sounded. My son got the classic. He said his burger to him was just average. I did like my strawberry chocolate martini. I had the good meal and the boys thought it was ok. We were surprised! Typical food at CT breweries tend to be mediocre. This place was a bit above. It's a scratch kitchen, so no prepackaged anything. Everything was made in house. They had healthy options (veggie burger was fantastic) and you're typical not to healthy foods. I had an intriguing drink with vodka, carrot juice and mascarpone that blew me away. It was soooo good. The only issue we had was the noise. It was loud. There was a large table full of very loud people. Some acoustic treatments would help. Stopped in here during the soft opening. They have a decent selection on draft mix with other drinks and a pretty decent food list. The food was good and the drinks were even better! Blueberry Hibiscus Mead, Blueberry Lemonade, Bacon smashed Cheeseburger and a Hot Chick sandwich. The food was very good and savory and packed a good punch to the palate. The burger wasn't overly done and was still juicy while the hot chicken habanero was spicy enough for a little ranch. Would definitely come back. Blueberry Hibiscus Mead bright, fruity sweetness of blueberries mixed with a floral tang of hibiscus for a crisp, refreshing experience. We have been to Phantom brewing a couple times during the soft opening period. It's a great spot in a new building, with both indoor and outdoor dining. We are on the south side of Middletown, and it's just a quick 10 minute drive. So far, our experiences have been great! Friendly staff, great drinks, and tasty food! We've had burgers and the fried buffalo chicken sandwich, chips, fries, Mac and cheese, and wings. All are great! The chips are even made in house. I still need to try the fried chicken dinner and their giant pretzel, next time, hopefully! Plus once they have their grand opening, they'll be expanding their menu. I'm hoping for ribs to make an appearance!! (Pretty please!) Go check them out, whether you want a drink, a bite, or both! To the Owners: I have visited this establishment twice since I wrote my last review and unfortunately tonight was the icing on the cake for me. I won't be returning. It seems there's a lack of management here you can't run a good business. If you're not there you have to be there. You have to have your hands and everything and you have to be making sure the best is going out to all of your customers and that's not what's happening here. The waitress that came to my table was horrendous. She seemed like she just lost her best friend. I don't know what her problem was, but she was awful. I ended up going and sitting at the bar. The girl at the bar was very friendly chatty dark hair this is a Friday night, 07/10/26. She also was scattered and was forgetting things. Anyway, the service was horrendous. I watched multiple plate plates of food go back. I don't know if it was the kitchen or the ordering but watched four plates go back. If I could have got bartenders attention I would have cancelled our second round. A major complaint is the exhaust for kitchen..the place smelled like burgers and then burnt toast. Sad because we really wanted to enjoy this place. Need to get it together I gave two stars because we ate our food. read more

6/2025 - Pretty convenient spot, nice clean building that's been around, but not previously occupied, nice layout, good parking, currently several styles of beer and 3 meads made in-house, solely CT sourced wine and spirits, kitchen with burgers, salads, wings, fries, flatbread, etc., outdoor seating out back, indication of further expansion in the 4 acres behind them in the future for some walking, eating, and drinking, TVs at the bar and in the other areas, clean bathrooms, good parking, etc. I'm really excited to see what this place can become. I recently discovered a fantastic new burger brew pub right in my back yard. Phantom Burger and Brewery in Higganum offers an impressive number of craft beers and ales, but as I had Diet Coke, I can't comment on them. However I can share my opinions on their food. We started with their hot honey pepperoni Flatbread pizza and it was crazy yummy! The topping were delicious and generous, but for me, their dough was the star. A true standout! We then moved onto their smashburgers. I'm a big fan of smashburgers and I enjoy making them at home. The maillard reaction is the key feature of a smashburger and Phantom nails it! Their special, secret sauce adds a nice twist that compliments the fresh beef flavor! Our server, Becca, was friendly, professional, and attentive. She made my wife and I feel truly welcome and satisfied with everything we ordered. She was great! We are looking forward to our next visit, which I suppose is about the best way to share how we feel about Phantom! read more

I've been here 3 times now, Great atmosphere, it's a big building but the colors are spot on to feel cozy and warm, very friendly staff, just had one bartender that constantly complained about his last job and wouldn't stop talking hahaha, the burgers are bangin, the Mac & cheese is very good, creamy with good flavor, the chips are hit or miss so far, sometimes fresh and yummy and sometimes just yum... I was a patron of the original location and was eager to try this one. Coming in first impressions it was nice and laid out well. As this is a brewery everyone just walked up the the rather small bar. NOPE you need to sit down and have a server. Ok, cool it was rather quiet so the waiter was with us relatively quick. The menu is basically a pub and the prices were reasonable and the food was good. Here is where it gets weird, is the focus the food or the beer? When you need to wait for your server to get that next round that adds time that a customer can reconsider a drink, and the profit is in those drinks. If this is a brewery the attitude should be let me give you more food so you drink more. I think they would benefit from English pubs and armada brewery and have people people counter order and the food is brought to them or they come and get it. In the current set up on a busy night I can see servers missing tables, there is no hostess, and people that would have ordered multiple rounds walking after one as they are sick of waiting. So, I will be back because the beer was very good but not sure long term until they figure out, " who is our customer, why did they walk in the door? " and " what us our core purpose for being". I will give advice here, I have never heard someone say" let's go to the brewery they have decent burgers". read more

I loved my burger and chips and everyone I was with enjoyed their meals as well. I like the menu choices. One suggestion. While carpet is not a choice for a busy restaurant, perhaps you could hang some tapestries on the walls for noise reduction.
