This is a lovely local brewery. Sometimes it's so busy to the point that there's no parking and you have to go to another parking lot and walk there. The drinks selection is good and they have tasty bar food. We got the nachos and they were a hit. Friendly staff and lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

I visited Kinsmen Brewing Co. recently, and wow! A surprise tucked away in Milldale (which I just learned is actually part of Southington), this place is the definition of a gem. The vibe? Immaculate. It's got that effortlessly cool warehouse feel from the brick, windows, and multiple indoor spaces that manage to feel both spacious and cozy. Very cool. There was a softball team celebrating when I visited, and whether they won or not, the energy was pure joy. But the outdoor patio is what really sold me: fire pits, Adirondack chairs, high top tables, and even sun screens that let light in without blasting you. Add in beautifully maintained plants that add a little charm to the industrial chic aesthetic. It was a chilly day, so the patio was quiet, but I could tell this spot comes alive in warmer weather. I had the Deck Side IPA, a 6.5% ABV hazy IPA that totally hit the spot. It had a nice orange tang, a bit tart but super smooth. All yummy, juicy, and totally crushable. I will 100% order it again. The food looked amazing too, but I had just eaten, so I didn't try anything. It gives me an excuse to go back again, for sure. The service was also top notch. My server was super sweet and so kind. You could tell she genuinely cared. Honestly, I have taken a backseat to the ever growing beer scene but it might be the first time I had so beer. I loved everything. The chill vibes, beautiful design, friendly service, and great beer. It checks all the boxes. I'll absolutely be back on a sunny day to fully enjoy that patio.

Great brewery and restaurant! Loved it! Had an IPA flight and a few pizzas, with some nice music on a Friday night!

TLDR; Cool atmosphere, great beer, a full bar, and amazing pizza A friend lives nearby and we wanted to grab a beer. The choice was between this and counter weight but I wanted to try something new - glad we did. This place is great. All the beers were super solid. Ended up doing a flight and even buying a 4 pack to go. They also have a full bar with a pretty good selection of bourbon which was a nice surprise. They also have pizza which was cooked perfectly! Tons of flavor. Really enjoyed it. Overall a great place to come hang out w pretty much any size group

Came here for a quick sour beer. Tried the dump cake and it was good! Service was great. Enjoyed having a drink here.

Service is always friendly, food comes out quick, and the ordering system's easy. There's tons of space inside like tables, couches, even a side rec-type room. We go for the outdoor space because it's hard to find a brewery in the area where outside isn't a parking lot. I like sitting outside by the trail with a pretzel and watching people go by. Beers are fine, not super memorable, but I like that their sours are smoother (lactose helps). Solid spot overall. 4 stars for beer but 5 stars for service, atmosphere, and food options.

My favorite brewery on my weekend trip to Connecticut. Love the inside and how it feels like a lodge. Bar on one side and kitchen on the other but you can order it all at the bar. Love their beer choices and varying options of styles. I got the soft pretzel with mustard and cheese and all was very good. They also have 6 packs available to go.

The atmosphere and look of the tap room was nice. Lots of wood and bricks. Good selection of beers on tap. The Staff were busy, but attentive. If you are not into beer(shame on you) they have a full bar. It took me awhile to get my first beer due to the line. I didn't mind the wait. Beer was being served in plastic cups, not a fan of that. Beer tastes better in glasses or mugs. However, They have glassware available for purchase. Overall this place is nice and worth a visit.

Beers were all fresh and very tasty. Their pizza was either wood fire or brick oven, but it was so good! We got Buffalo chicken and meatball pizza as well as the Buffalo wings. The wings were big, juicy, and very flavorful. The bartenders were all very nice and quick to service. Bonus was that we unknowingly showed up on trivia night and had an absolute blast! Loved coming here. Parking could be tricky because there's only limited spots, but definitely worth the hunt!

This is the perfect brewery! We went on a bike ride on the trail behind the brewery and afterwards got food and drinks here, an ideal day! We got so many pizzas, but my favorite was the hot lips pizza! I got the husky hops which was so good, I had two! Lots of seating and although it may feel crammed on weekends, it has a community feel to it that I like. Service is also quick. I will definitely be back here and will recommend Kinsmen to everyone!

Ask the Community - Kinsmen Brewing

If I want to have a small birthday party here, do I have to rent out a room or can I just go early and grab tables?

I've been there when parties have been going on, they typically have a bunch of tables all pushed together, But definitely call before hand to see if they will reserve those tables in advance for you.

Do they allow dogs on their outdoor patio?

    Yes, they do!

Can you bring your own food?

No, Kinsmen does not allow outside food to be brought in. However, they will make an exception for birthday cake.

We enjoyed a very nice visit to Cheshire Craft Brewing yesterday…read more It's located inside a strip mall style industrial park, so it's not obvious where the brewery is (no big signs or dedicated parking lot). There is a small sign over the door, otherwise you'd think you might be walking into a printing shop or electronics repair place. When you walk in, you'll see the glistening tanks and brewing equipment on your left, a lot of tables and chairs on your right, and the bar and more seating straight ahead. Yesterday, their beverage choices included four IPAs, a Roasted Amber Ale, a Lite Ale, a Berry Sour, two ciders, a few wines, and a distilled spirit cocktail. I went with a full pour ($5) of their 125 Lite Ale. It came in at 5.4% ABV and was described as "A crisp & creamy unfiltered light American ale". I'm not an IPA guy, so I wanted a Pilsner or Lager, so this was perfect for me. Very drinkable, very refreshing, and priced right. My wife ordered a half pour ($5) of the Sparkling Tea DROPS Cocktail by Continuum Distilling. It packed 7.6% ABV firepower and was described as "a unique SPIRIT distilled from Connecticut's best craft IPAs, paired with a Lemon or Sweet Tea base then carbonated to sparkling perfection". I mooched a sip, and it was outstanding. Our server was pleasant and helpful, steering me to the Lite Ale after I eliminated the IPAs and describing the Lemon Drops so well. They have a Ted's Steamed Cheeseburger food truck on site every Friday-Sunday. They set up in a big open area behind the brewery, and there are maybe ten or so tables and chairs out there. Drinking our cold beverages and enjoying a nice cheeseburger was quite the sweet way to enjoy a sunny Saturday afternoon.

It was also well decorated for the Fall Season. There were a few employees that were visible at times, but they weren't organized in such a way to provide a typical lunch experience. The person who was working the bar also served as hostess and my server in the main eating area. So I waited a minute or so at the host stand to be greeted while she finished a drink. There was also hammering in the kitchen area for a decent part of my lunch. My server was very nice though and hustled to try to meet everyone's needs. I believe Ideal Tavern recently won the Southington Wing Fest. So I wanted to try the wings. I asked my server what the most popular wing flavors are and she didn't have an answer. I ordered the Sweet Chili Gorgonzola because it looked like the most interesting option. I also ordered an Ideal BLT Burger. The wings and burger were brought together, which I didn't ask for. That obviously defeats the purpose of ordering an app. The wings were meaty and had great texture. They were more glazed than sauced. I thought the Gorgonzola component would be more of a sauce but there were actual pieces of Gorgonzola cheese. The Gorgonzola was good quality. The burger was big and cooked to my requested medium rare. I didn't note any seasoning. The burger came with cheddar, which isn't the best melting cheese. You could tell they tried to melt the cheese, but the cheese broke off rather than stretched when I pulled at the side. The bacon seemed like it was probably high quality, possibly uncured bacon. The texture of it wasn't great for a burger. It was hard in parts and too difficult to chew. I also wish the LT part of the BLT had a bit more focus. I didn't think the Truffle Aioli worked for a BLT either. The fries had kind of a unique wide swoop cut style. I think Ideal Tavern could pay a bit more attention to the details of what makes a good customer experience. They have some good things to work with though. 3.75

Our travels took us to The Groggy Frog and we were thrilled we took the hour drive in the snow. Service: Prompt, Authentic, Laid Back - no corporate pieces of flare (thank goodness). Atmosphere: you had me at hello. Dive bar, watering hole, where everyone goes vibe. Small. Unique. They definitely do not make them like this anymore. Great music and bar noise. Rustic wood. High tops all around. Fantastic. The wings: so far the best hidden gem we have found. Way better than others in Southington I have previously visited and reviewed. Tons of flavors. They also offer wings in 5's, so, if you're like us and want to try a few sauces - you're in a great position until you find your go-to's. We ordered: hot buffalo, buffalo blue, chipotle honey horseradish, teriyaki wasabi, and an order of their fried shrimp tossed in hot buffalo. All hot, crispy, excellent. While all the sauces were good, the hot buffalo and chipotle honey horseradish make the cut for our next visit. We can't wait to be back and try 3-4 other sauces with the 2 we've fallen in love with. Note: I love the blue cheese dressing at places as much as the wings. I have noticed the wing places in Southington serve a thicker (almost spreadable) homemade blue cheese. It was excellent. But because of its thickness, we went through a lot. And, as you may read in my other reviews, I hate the 2oz soufflé cups in a wing place. 4oz minimum please. Only thing I've learned to do better next time - ask for tons of extra napkins. I prefer when they're either stored on the table, or better, have paper towel rolls on the tables at the elite wing joints.
