My husband and I were impressed at the pizza quality, especially how good the crust was. They only have 12 inch pies, so they were going down easy! This is a lovely local brewery. Sometimes it's so busy to the point that there's no parking and you have to go to another parking lot and walk there. I really liked this place. The interior is great--tons of space to spread out, a few separate areas, and a clean, well-done industrial feel. The bathrooms are nice too, though I can imagine them getting overwhelmed when the place is really hopping. Good beer variety, solid food options, and plenty to pick from without feeling overwhelming. One of my favorite things is the location. It's directly on the rail trail, with a bunch of outdoor seating, so you can take a walk before or after (just not with your beer). You can also park at one of the public trail lots and FORCE yourself to walk, if that's of interest--just note the posted hours; the one we used indicated no parking after 10PM if memory serves. Between the spacious layout, relaxed vibe, and the fact that you can easily turn it into a quick trail stop or a longer hangout, I wish I lived closer. I'd be here a lot more often. read more

I visited Kinsmen Brewing Co. recently, and wow! A surprise tucked away in Milldale (which I just learned is actually part of Southington), this place is the definition of a gem. The vibe? Immaculate. It's got that effortlessly cool warehouse feel from the brick, windows, and multiple indoor spaces that manage to feel both spacious and cozy. Very cool. There was a softball team celebrating when I visited, and whether they won or not, the energy was pure joy. But the outdoor patio is what really sold me: fire pits, Adirondack chairs, high top tables, and even sun screens that let light in without blasting you. Add in beautifully maintained plants that add a little charm to the industrial chic aesthetic. It was a chilly day, so the patio was quiet, but I could tell this spot comes alive in warmer weather. I had the Deck Side IPA, a 6.5% ABV hazy IPA that totally hit the spot. It had a nice orange tang, a bit tart but super smooth. All yummy, juicy, and totally crushable. I will 100% order it again. The food looked amazing too, but I had just eaten, so I didn't try anything. It gives me an excuse to go back again, for sure. The service was also top notch. My server was super sweet and so kind. You could tell she genuinely cared. Honestly, I have taken a backseat to the ever growing beer scene but it might be the first time I had so beer. I loved everything. The chill vibes, beautiful design, friendly service, and great beer. It checks all the boxes. I'll absolutely be back on a sunny day to fully enjoy that patio. read more

Service is always friendly, food comes out quick, and the ordering system's easy. There's tons of space inside like tables, couches, even a side rec-type room. We go for the outdoor space because it's hard to find a brewery in the area where outside isn't a parking lot. I like sitting outside by the trail with a pretzel and watching people go by. I Really want this place to be 5 stars. The beer here is fantastic, lots of variety in, lagers, IPA, sours and stouts. Definitely worth getting a flight and testing some things out. Nice outdoor seating areas, with a large open "main" area near bar, and some smaller seating areas spread out. The staff is very friendly, and on top of it. Where this kinda takes a turn was the food, specifically the pizza and pretzel. The pretzel was cold in the middle, only with mustard if you want cheese it's extra $1-2, at least give me the option for one or the other. Now the pizza, I'm not sure who decided it was a good idea to put Parmesan cheese in the sauce of my Margarita pizza, which just ruined the whole vibe. I should also mention it wasn't just one pizza we had 3. It was not pleasing, especially if I didn't ask for it, maybe put some Parmesan as an option for the pizza when the server brings it out not automatically, like every other pizza place. 4/5 stars because of the food issues. read more

This is the perfect brewery! We went on a bike ride on the trail behind the brewery and afterwards got food and drinks here, an ideal day! We got so many pizzas, but my favorite was the hot lips pizza! I got the husky hops which was so good, I had two! Lots of seating and although it may feel crammed on weekends, it has a community feel to it that I like. Service is also quick. Went here for a party today. I did not try the beer so I cannot comment on it but the sour looked, smelled and sounded amazing (based on what others were telling me). I did try the Paloma though and it was 10/10. Cocktails are pricey - $13 for a Paloma. Husband order a whiskey neat. I watched them pour it, measure it out - it was just one shot... for $12. That was highway robbery to be honest, but otherwise drinks were great. The pizza was OUTSTANDING. For food for the party they had salad and a ton of different pizzas. There wasn't a single one I didn't like and I think I tried most every one! They know what they're doing with the pizza and the toppings. Atmosphere is awesome. Place is gorgeous. The party room was just fantastic - tons of seating, private bathrooms, beautiful decor, your own bar. Truly great. They thought of all the details when they designed the place. Kinsmen has a nice walking/bicycling trail that runs parallel to the brewery. Because of COVID I lost my daily lunch date who could only meet up if the caregiver was available or his brother. It's pretty close to his home, so I would pick him up. At that point my trips to Kinsmen were mostly about camaraderie. Fast forward to late August/September. We were now able to get together for dinner AND now there is a location for trivia. At Kinsmen Brewing. So, sure, I'm down. Well the trivia is called Rated R Trivia. I didn't know that was the trivia group name until I walked in. I chuckled a little. We tried to think of a dirty team name, rated r name or an offensive team name, but, didn't have the guts to voice a team name during registration. A little conservative. When they listed some of the other team names, we found ourselves laughing out loud. That in itself was worth the trip. Jeez. There are some dirty like-minded people out there. Lol. I had been traveling for about a month and checked in with my friend to see if he was available for dinner and trivia. This week we decided to do trivia and dinner at Kinsmen. They have, inhouse, a satellite restaurant called Sauced. Now I have eaten there plenty of times before and am not really a pizza for dinner person. Well today we got a surprise. Apparently, this trivia event has gotten so big that it was moved to its own location on the property. Instead of taking a right we took a left. The room is very inviting, well lit and spacious. Can't go wrong with Kinsmen! A super laid back brewery with a cozy vibe and good pizza and beer. It's a very spacious space with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Loved their McGinty pizza, a white pizza with mashed potatoes and bacon. My sister got the Hot Lips pizza which is made with spicy soppressata, chili flakes, and honey. The perfect amount of sweet to balance out the spicy! The bartender was sweet and let me get a sample of my drink before ordering. Went with the Yup/Nope, which is a popular beer that they always bring back onto the taps. Highly recommend if you're into hazy IPAs. The Oktoberfest beer had very little marzen flavor. The tasty tea mango was watery and very little tea or mango flavor. It took 25 minutes for the sandwich I ordered which wouldn't have happened that quickly if I hadn't gone up to inquire about it. The only saving grace was the sandwich was excellent. I felt rushed and uncomfortable while making decisions. Fun and beautiful brewery! Finally was able to check out Kinsmen after years of hearing the hype. I was shocked of how big this place really is! It just keeps going and going! Each room is so cool and the taproom itself is such a cool set up! I went for trivia/ their st paddy's event and had such a good time! I will totally be back for trivia! They have fresh food here too which is a cool perk- a little pricey but the pizza is delicious! I tried their potato pizza and loved it! Beer was good. I'm more into ales and they didn't seem to have much variety- mostly ipas. I got a sour which was delicious though. Will try more beers out in the future. Bartenders were super nice! Make sure you have their delicious pizza when you go!  Try to go with a big group so you can order a few and try them all, because they're all great. I love their Pork-U-Pine Pizza with mozzarella, prosciutto, shaved parmigiana and arugula. (make sure you add the balsamic glaze, it's worth it!). read more

There's not a large selection of beers, but they also offer wine and a few cocktails. Food is served as well, and while it's mainly pizza, there are other options, like sandwiches and pretzels. My group ordered a variety of small plates, and I ordered a pizza to go. The prices are more than reasonable and everything tasted very good. The service is friendly and fast - both drinks and food. It's loud. It's fun. It's packed. The beer is solid. The food menu is straight forward and yummy. Highly recommend the pizza. Not much else to say! The fishing lure was cast. This fish took the bait. Bait? Yes, a Holiday Ugly Sweater event with Live Jazz music. I convinced Mama Bumble to light up her Bumble sweater and join her Fugly Reindeer sweater. This was out first visit to Kinsmen. Large joint! Essentially, two venue in one. We were in the Live Music section, the Jazz was jamming and Sweaters even louder! My Reindeer gathered many compliments, but sadly we missed the Fugly Contest. This Hall surprisingly stocked with a full bar and a long line of taps. The tables were set in Munich Oktoberfest rows to the stage. In the background, sofas and lounge chairs to view the Grinch on a widescreen. Many servers were running very tempting pizzas and other snacks between the rows. After a warm-up pint (IROC-Z DIPA) and their first Spiked Seltzer (Kitten Kisses), we ventured into the menu. Chips & Salsa (with a bite) and nibbler of a halved Pita with stuffed Pulled Pork and "Candied" Jalapeño. This is such a cool brewery. I personally don't drink beer but my sister and dad and husband do. What's great is that they have a full bar for those of us that just like going with beer drinking friends. And the owner and his wife were the most friendly people you will ever meet. They gave our pups snacks and water, was patient with my dad who has Alzheimer's, and since it was my dad first day at his new memory care home(Live Well) their authentic kindness made a terrible day so much better. My photos don't do this place justice! We went to Kinsmen for the first time to attend an engagement party. The establishment is quite impressive! First, it's absolutely gigantic! Plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The inside is decorated in a rustic farmhouse motif and couldn't be cuter. We ordered two beers. I'm not an IPA drinker so I had to have help navigating it. I chose a beer that was closest to domestic and it was delicious. The party had several different kinds of pizzas among our favorites were the mashed potato pizza egg and bacon pizza and barbecue chicken pizza they were all delicious and cooked perfection. So much to like ! Laid back place with a nice feel and look. Pizza (* mad lips ) was amazing and they have GF pizza too for an up charge. Beers were pretty yummy and a few are ever changing if I recall correctly. They have other drinks as well so at least there is something for everyone. Parking is plentiful and space is large. Its def a great spot in the winter. In the spring and summer perhaps i would have preferred an outside area. Can try a flight of few oz pours for 10$ / 4 pours. Came here for a friend's retirement party. Had driven by before but never had the chance to come in before. Coming in we passed by some outside eating/ drinking areas and once inside there were two huge rooms. We were in the bigger room on the right, with a full bar and a pizza spot called Sauced. The A-pizza was really good, I was impressed with it. They were cut small for the party and each had its own unique taste. Will absolutely come back for that. The bar had a great selection of their craft beer along with wine and liquors. Plenty of tables and some soft seating as well. The other room had a restaurant type feel to it with more comfortable seating. They had live music in both rooms and overall, it's worth checking it out. read more
