Not too long ago I experienced my first beer with Front Porch Brewing and really enjoyed it! I had Neil's Samoa Donut Stout. This is categorized as a pastry stout and I really like those but have to be in the right mood for one. Preferably during the colder months out of the year. Apparently there are a few variations with the donut stout but as the name implies I got the Samoa version. What makes up in the flavor and texture profile is a sweet, smooth, chocolate, creamy and rich beer that Steve and I shared. A whole pint of this might have been too much for me but Steve and I shared it which made it proportioned quite well. Front Porch Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Wallingford, Connecticut in November 2017. It was founded by business partners James Flynn, Drew Peccerillo, Tiffany Ulrich and Ryan Voytek. Flynn began home brewing about five years earlier in a friend's backyard and eventually moved to brewing on his front porch (hence the name of the brewery). After he started getting better at home brewing, he decided to turn his hobby into a business. The small brewery brews a variety of different styles but mainly brews different kinds of IPAs and Sours. The small brewery and taproom has a one-barrel system and can only brew a small amount of beer at a time. They occasionally enlist the help of brewery collectives such as The Beeracks in East Haven or Twelve Percent Beer Project in North Haven in order to produce and distribute beer on a much larger scale. I've been visiting Front Porch Brewing since not long after they first opened. On my first visit, I ordered a flight which consisted of a Belgian Dubbel, a Session IPA, a Sour IPA, and a Pale Ale. The latter (named "Devil Children") was my favorite and the ABV appropriately clocked in at 6.66%. My most recent visit was this weekend to pick up some new cans that they released. Both new beers were brewed on a larger scale at Twelve Percent Beer Project and were available at both Twelve Percent and Front Porch's taproom. The first offering was a Double IPA called "Leaving So Soon?" It's aggressively brewed with Citra, Strata, Galaxy, and El Dorado hops. It had some lovely tropical notes from all of the different hops. It clocks in at 8% ABV and each can features alternating artwork that sort of resembles tarot cards. The second offering is an Imperial Pastry Stout called "Neil's French Toast Donut Stout". It was brewed in collaboration with Neil's Donuts (with locations in Wallingford and Middletown) and made with a generous amount of their French Toast donuts. It clocks in at 10% ABV and has a delicious aroma of donuts. I later stopped at Neil's to get some donuts to dunk into the beer! Delicious!! Well done everyone! read more

Checked this spot out on a warm autumn day. Everyone was super friendly. It's located in an industrial park across from the Trail of Terror (you need to do the trail, it's always amazing). I had a KILLER LIMES FROM OUTERSPACE beer. It was a sour with lime and vanilla notes. Super refreshing. The also had a few other beers on tap. Something for everyone. read more

Nope, there's no porch. And you kind of feel like you're driving into industrial waste land to find the spot. But it's worth it, especially on a sunny day, when the brewery is open to the outside. (It's almost like a porch, right?) Beer selection leaned toward sour beers, though they had a couple of other types. They did the sours very well. What's also unique is you can do a whiskey flight of some common to less common whiskeys. For example, they have Brenne, which I've only seen one other place in Connecticut. Other perks include a Nintendo system, arcade game, and tons of board games. Cool spot. read more

4 stars for service, hours, and options! We had a good time on their first Saturday opening - you first walk in and it looks like it's pitch black (if you come during the day) but the eyes adjust quickly. Seating- They have tables, couch and some seats at the bar. They definitely need more seating that's the con. They were packed and I was lucky to snag a stool but watched many people come in and leave without ordering because of the lack of seating available. Libations- flights are $10 for 4 and they have 8 beers on tap and have whiskey, wine and some spirits as well. We got 2 flights so we could try them all and wound up both liking the Ego Death pale ale with lime and vanilla. We aren't big IPA fans but we heard a lot of people say "show me what you got" the IPA with mosaic was really good. I had it but again not a big IPA fan so I can't judge. They had some snacks, board games, nintendo 64 and they are open late!!! That's probably my favorite part - they are open almost regular bar hours which for those of us that work 6 days a week and get out late finally there is a place that I can go to after 8. Came here in the afternoon after a hike in the area. Cute spot with a small, cozy atmosphere. You can bring your own food and your dogs! The beer I tried was great, a saison and I loved it. I thought the vibes were cool and the beertender was nice, but the day we went it def lacked variety in the beer department. I had one really gross sour that I couldn't finish. No IPAs on draft. The beers we did get were room temperature at best. It wasn't even a hot day. I think that's always the worst, when your first sip of beer and it's not even cold. I do appreciate the games they have, they're fun. And I've had their beers not at the brewery before and they're pretty good. read more

Nice brewery in Wallingford ! They do not only have ipas on tap so it's an instant win . We had their stouts and sour and both were very good . Also the prices seemed to be a little lower here than most breweries ! Will be back when we are in Connecticut read more

As local microbreweries go, they fall way short regarding overall experience. The space isn't where they brew the beer and it doesn't have any character at all. It just isn't an inviting space to be in. The young lady at the "bar" was less than enthusiastic about anything let along answering any questions about the brewery, the beer, you know, things people who work at these places are usually bending over backwards to share with you. The beers are mostly sours, which is why I went to begin with. While they tasted pretty good, they didn't really resemble beer. They were more like a malt beverage. If the owners really want people to visit then they should spruce the place up a bit and have workers that are excited about being there. read more

The brewery is located a few minutes down from the New England Cider Company in the industrial parts of Wallingford. The name can be deceiving as there is no front porch, it seems to be more in a storage warehouse. That being said, they make due with what they have changing the atmosphere to be as hospitable as possible. There is a couch with a Super Nintendo where you can play old school games and they allow dogs here to watch the sunset across the street. Shared a flight with a friend of mine. All in all I had beer; maybe having a whole day of drinking killed my taste buds but it was satisfying. I'll have to come back and try this place out again. read more

I was really looking forward to hitting this brewery. The beers from them I have tried at beer fests were always good. The day I went the variety of offerings was less than desirable. Funky little spot where I always have fun. My friends and I have met up here many times for beers and parties, and have never come away unhappy. The beers can be hit or miss. Some taste great, some taste off-recipe, some taste not so good. But obviously you can sample before you buy, which I would recommend. Stick that that game plan here and explore through their ecliptic offerings until you find the brew for you. It's not hard. There's usually at least 1-2 great beers on tap. Great community vibe here. You will make new friends in this cozy brewery built into a large garage. And when you've had enough beer, drive down the road to New England Cider and drink some delicious craft cider. This is a great new brewery in Wallingford with a cool atmosphere to hang out, and a small, but impressive variety of beer. My husband and I had never been here before, but we heard some good things about the beers, so we took a chance and invited a bunch of our friends to spend a Sunday afternoon here to celebrate his birthday. It was so much fun. The beer list wasn't very long, but everything was interesting, plus there were a few guest beers on tap, and the option of some hard liquors. Our party was able to try all of the beers available, and we liked them all. I started with the "Show Me What You Got," a mosaic IPA with a sweet Rick and Morty reference, then switched to some more sour beers - "Finger Guns," a sour IPA, and "Parti-Gal #2," a really good berliner weiss with kiwi. There were a bunch of board games that were right up our alley (we love "What Do You Meme?"), plus a Nintendo 64 and Super Nintendo to play Mario Kart and Street Fighter. I almost didn't want to write this review because I really enjoyed how my group of friends could basically take over the entire place with few others there, but I'm sure the word will get out quickly because of how good the beers are. The brewery closes at 5 p.m. on Sunday, which was made very clear to us because we got a shout out for last call right at 4:30 p.m., quickly followed by really loud heavy metal music to get us out of there. I think we all understood the feeling of wanting to go home after a long day at work, and we did spend the entire afternoon there, so we thought it was funny, cleaned up after ourselves, and went on our merry way. read more

Front porch is a small brewery occupying a small space in a Wallingford industrial park. They had seven different beers on tap during my visit, most of them IPAs, which are not really my thing. Instead I decided to get a full pour of their featured pale ale, Ego Death, which was a vanilla and lime infused ale. I really like pale ales and this was one of the best I've had. On the first sip, the vanilla really hits you up front and explodes with taste. But after the initial sip it calms down a bit and becomes a bit more balanced and you start to taste the lime coming through. I would recommend stopping in to visit these guys just on this one beer alone. Again, they have several IPAs and some sours and a stout that should suit all tastes. They may be a small operation but they are doing good things with their brews and have their beers featured in several local restaurants in town, including Knuckleheads. The staff is very welcoming and really has a lot of knowledge about the different beers on their menu and in the state in general. read more

I can't recommend this place enough. Beer selection was diverse and well thought out. The staff (which was two people at the time taking care of bar tending) was very attentive and friendly and handled a busy situation with grace and effectiveness. The beer itself was delicious. I had the sour IPA and the "Reverse Mermaid" IPA. Both were very tasty and not overwhelming. The vibe of the place was my favorite aspect. Great music selection. Low lighting. This brewery is located in a warehouse location and when I went a few months ago, I discovered it was surprisingly small inside. There was a bar with a few chairs, a handful of tables, and a single stall bathroom. They have board games and an N64 set up at one of the tables. I tried a beer flight and was excited, but the ones I had were nothing impressive. They also do whiskey flights, which I did not get to do, but would go back to try. While I definitely wasn't blown away, as the weather gets nicer, I'm willing to go back and check it out again. read more

Came in on a Saturday evening with a few friends. The staff were welcoming and helpful when ordering, overall it was a great vibe. I really liked their variety of beer styles and after a flight, we had all decided on a favorite. My personal favorite was Quantum Funk. Mmm. Awesome selection of board and card games and even Super NES. Only hiccup was that the "high scores" board didn't say what the high scores actually were. Silly!
