Came here on a late Saturday night. We were able to get a seat pretty quickly. This was an Old bank that got turned into a restaurant . We ordered some food and drinks. I got the 10 piece of pig wings that cost 15$ they were huge ! They were good but not what I was expecting. Overall, food and service was good.

Lights Too Bright on dining side

This should be a 5 star review as the food was amazing and service excellent. My wife and I tried Knuckleheads a couple of weeks ago and we sat at a small table in the bar. PERFECT. We did notice how absurdly bright the other side of the room was against the wall and noted we would never sit there. Upstairs lighting and bar lighting were all reasonably bright but not blinding. Went back with our adult kids recently and had no choice but to sit under the extremely bright lights against the wall. I had a headache by the time we left and other patrons next to us were complaining about the brightness too. I did ask about diming the light slightly and never got a reply. It's too bad as my son enjoyed the good bourbon selection and I enjoyed the beer selection. Food and service excellent and decor is cool. Seems like lighting levels would be such a simple thing to get right. We will leave next time if we cant get a table upstairs or on the bar side if the lights are so bright next time.

Stopped by before a concert at the Oakdale. Small wait which was fine, we were greeted once it was our turn. We chose a side table that was half booth. The music was metal so that was awesome and we loved the photos on the wall. I started with a cider on tap- that was sweet and sour. I wish I got the name bc it was delicious. For dinner we skipped apps and went straight to an entree. I chose the nightmare on main st with a side of onion rings. The rings were super crunchy which I loved. The burger was really thick and almost too tall to eat- almost. It was great, the tomato was thick, the burger was seasoned great and the right temp. The bacon was perfect. My only issue was it was smothered in bbq sauce and not the aioli. So it made the burger sweet and not savory. I still ate it, and it was good but that was disappointing. My husband had the aioli on his instead of bbq sauce.. again it was delicious and we ate it without complaining but it was a small miss. Overall, it was a really great place to eat.

Very busy, but chill bar on Main Street in Wallingford. We went to Knuckleheads with coworkers for drinks and food. We had a large group of 8 people and it took awhile to be seated (poor planning on our part for going at 7 o'clock on a Friday evening). The space looks very cool and moody with a grand staircase, but the dining area is small. We weren't in a rush and were able to get drinks from the bar while we waited. The food was excellent and the food came out very fast. There was a mishap with one of our entrees and it was quickly fixed. Our server was an absolute sweet heart too. Most people at our table got appetizers to share: Wings, Waffle Fries, Sweet Potato Fries and Fried Pickles. The menu was small, but had a variety for everyone. I am a vegetarian so I got the Bang Bang Cauliflower and the Veggie Wrap. These options are also vegan! The cauliflower was fried and crunchy, smothered in sweet chili sauce. My favorite part about my veggie wrap was that there were thinly sliced pickles in it. It felt like a handheld salad because the wrap was filled with lettuce, tomato, onion and a diced up veggie burger. Other dishes that were ordered at our table were Bang Bang Shrimp, Pig Wings, and Burgers. Overall, we had a great meal and time at Knuckleheads. I always say that it's a good thing when bars or restaurants are a full house. I can see us dining in again soon.

Brie burger is PHENOMENAL! Would literally go back just for that. Atmosphere is cool. Placed in what looks like an old bank, but really nice homey vibe throughout. Service was good also! My only call out was cocktails were meh, BUT if you love beer then you're in good hands!

This was our first time trying Knuckleheads. Upon walking in, you notice a grand stair case that leads to upstairs seating. Downstairs is a bar and dining area. We were seated downstairs. It was a late Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't very busy. We decided to try some Buffalo wings and get sandwiches. Our server was pleasant and friendly, always nearby when we needed her. The wings came out fairly quickly. They were crispy and tangy. It's was hard not to compare them to other nearby places. They were good. The sauce was a bit sweet. They aren't my favorite wings, but they definitely are far from bad! My husband ordered a steak and cheese with fries. He loved it. It's was full and cooked well and delicious! I got a BBQ chicken melt with waffle fries. The sandwich was good. The chicken was very crunchy. It's was very tasty. The waffle fries were really good, too!

Why is the service so poor on a sunday? It is if no one cares, the order gets taken and you just s it and wait an hour. Ordered hamburgs for take out, I live 2 minutes away and they were cold and soggy. is it the help or the kitchen?

I'm guessing it's because they know you're a whiner who gives poor reviews of all the businesses you review.

My friend and I started with a glass of wine, and the service in the beginning was good. However things quickly went downhill. This library proves you can't judge a book by its cover. We ordered the calamari appetizer. When it arrived, I opened my silverware from the napkin and discovered that my fork was filthy-- a giant glob of white, crusty food, the size of a dime, was still stuck between the prongs. I waited for my waitress to check in (she didn't deliver the food) but she never came. We tried to get the attention of another waitress and were ignored. After 10 minutes, with my calamari growing cold, I eventually walked to the bar to get a replacement. The bartended exclaimed, "Gross!" -- my sentiments exactly-- when I showed him the fork. By the time I actually sat down to eat, the calamari was cold. It was also super tough and chewy. There were hardly any peppers. We didn't eat much of it. I love French food, and I ordered the duck for dinner. I ordered it medium. When it arrived, it was cooked well done- perhaps in an oven rather than seared. I say this because the skin was not crispy and the fat had not rendered, so the skin/fat remained thick, chewy and inedible. Usually the crispy skin is the best part of duck, so I was disappointed. I had to cut off the skin and thick layer of fat to make it edible. It tasted quite gamey and there was no pink center. It came sliced into thirds, so they knew it was overcooked when they served it to me. I only ate a small portion. The rest of my dish (which came out looking stunning by the way) was also a big disappointment. Although it looked beautiful at first glance, I discovered the delicata squash still had the rough, inedible skin attached. The cherry sauce was heavy-handed and drowned my brussel sprouts, sweet potato purée and carrots to the point that all I could taste was the sauce (a thick, sugary glaze). I did my best to eat around it, because my waitress didn't check on us until much later. In fact we were basically done by the time I saw her again. I had given up at that point and left most of my food behind. There was also an issue with where we were seated. We had a small table in front of a window, but completely blocking a much larger table in a narrow corner. There was a family there when we arrived, and each time they got up to use the bathroom, I had someone's body pressed against my chair to squeeze by. A woman's behind actually grazed the back of my head at one point. When the family left, I could feel them brushing my coat off the back of my chair, resulting in them stepping on it. I can't blame them- it was a tight spot and a very awkward place for a table. I was annoyed that the waitstaff (I'm assuming) took the other chairs at my table, making a 4 seat table into a 2 seater, so I had no choice in where to sit. I didn't understand why they did this, because there was a lovely fireplace nearby and I had my back to it all night. Clearly, they weren't thinking about the dining experience from the customer's point of view. Maybe I could have switched tables but finding my waitress was like trying to find Waldo all evening, so it wasn't worth the hassle. Safe to say I won't be back. If you decide to try it out, be sure to get there early as parking is a pain to find at peak dinner hours.

This is categorized as a pastry stout and I really like those but have to be in the right mood for one. Preferably during the colder months out of the year. Apparently there are a few variations with the donut stout but as the name implies I got the Samoa version. What makes up in the flavor and texture profile is a sweet, smooth, chocolate, creamy and rich beer that Steve and I shared. A whole pint of this might have been too much for me but Steve and I shared it which made it proportioned quite well. A wonderful start with this brewery and would love to try the other donut versions of this stout! I saw a French Toast one that also caught my eye!

Front Porch Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Wallingford, Connecticut in November…read more2017. It was founded by business partners James Flynn, Drew Peccerillo, Tiffany Ulrich and Ryan Voytek. Flynn began home brewing about five years earlier in a friend's backyard and eventually moved to brewing on his front porch (hence the name of the brewery). After he started getting better at home brewing, he decided to turn his hobby into a business. The small brewery brews a variety of different styles but mainly brews different kinds of IPAs and Sours. The small brewery and taproom has a one-barrel system and can only brew a small amount of beer at a time. They occasionally enlist the help of brewery collectives such as The Beeracks in East Haven or Twelve Percent Beer Project in North Haven in order to produce and distribute beer on a much larger scale. I've been visiting Front Porch Brewing since not long after they first opened. On my first visit, I ordered a flight which consisted of a Belgian Dubbel, a Session IPA, a Sour IPA, and a Pale Ale. The latter (named "Devil Children") was my favorite and the ABV appropriately clocked in at 6.66%. My most recent visit was this weekend to pick up some new cans that they released. Both new beers were brewed on a larger scale at Twelve Percent Beer Project and were available at both Twelve Percent and Front Porch's taproom. The first offering was a Double IPA called "Leaving So Soon?" It's aggressively brewed with Citra, Strata, Galaxy, and El Dorado hops. It had some lovely tropical notes from all of the different hops. It clocks in at 8% ABV and each can features alternating artwork that sort of resembles tarot cards. The second offering is an Imperial Pastry Stout called "Neil's French Toast Donut Stout". It was brewed in collaboration with Neil's Donuts (with locations in Wallingford and Middletown) and made with a generous amount of their French Toast donuts. It clocks in at 10% ABV and has a delicious aroma of donuts. I later stopped at Neil's to get some donuts to dunk into the beer! Delicious!! Well done everyone!
