Just went to James Madison again. Please pay attention to what I have to say.....James Madison has excellent food. We've had the burgers, steak tip dinner, shrimp appetizer, goat pistachio flatbread and chicken wings. Each meal has been tasty and worth trying. Tonight we are having chicken wings (Garlic Parmesan) and their new special pasta dish, "Goulash", with braised beef,caramelized onions, topped with sour cream and cheddar in a paprika tomato sauce. They have a new chef, so we will see Not surprising, the Goulash was absolutely delicious. It was a healthy portion and VERY tasty!! Came here on a Saturday night on the early side since we have younger kids. It was busy and we had to wait a little for a table. The food was pretty good. We enjoyed the Thai calamari as an appetizer, my husband had the shrimp tacos but said they were a little heavy on the sauces. I really enjoyed the southwestern salad with the habanero ranch, great flavors. Took the street corn from my husbands dish and added it to the salad for some more flavor. My only complaint is that service was pretty slow. They wait staff was all very friendly and hustling around all night so not sure where the disconnect comes in. Luckily we ordered the kids food right away and it came out fast but ours just seemed to take very long. We will give it another shot forsure. read more

This was a super serendipitous find that I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon! The food was truly top-tier. Our server Aiden was extremely accommodating to our table's dietary restrictions, and the ambiance was great for a night out with friends! Once again, I have to give props to the staff for handling difficult people. Tuesday night, crazy crowded, kitchen deep. Ms. Entitlement at the bar keeps demanding bread. This is a pub. They do not serve a bread basket. Apparently, on prior visits they accommodated this request, but it was just too slammed on this night for "special service ". Had dinner there a couple of weeks ago. Food was OK & reasonably priced. Waitress was on her game & apparently had a great mind for detail having taken our orders without notes. Good service, the waitress was very friendly. Went there on a Tuesday around 2:00 and it was busier than I would have expected for it's quiet location. The menu offers a unique twist on traditional pub food. Juke box, kid friendly at least during the day. There's also a small outside seating area with patio furniture that looks over at the parking lot but still seemed like a great place to have a drink with a few friends. JMH is a hidden gem near the route 79 circle that has a neighborhood bar ambiance with a sophisticated and fun menu. The service is warm and welcoming. We recently had brunch and loved our meals. It's rare to have a talented chef in a cozy bar. Live music and trivia nights are on the schedule. read more

This pub came recommended by a friend - or at least we thought they were a friend before coming here. The service was the worst we've had in a long time, and multiple items were forgotten. A beer took at least 25 minutes to get, which is sad because we could only get one round with the lack of attention we received from our waiter. We also asked to see the Pats game on a football Sunday, but they never changed the channel from a random sitcom that was on all of the TVs in sight. Everyone received their dinners and I realized they'd forgotten my salmon, so the waiter said he'd get me an espresso martini as an apology - never received it until he half-heartedly offered it when we wanted to leave. The food that ended up arriving was pretty bad - avoid the pizza if you come here. We definitely won't be back again. read more

If I recall, we ate it for like the next 3 days. (Be sure to see the picture included). We did order a second time, for Mother's day pick up and got the steak family dinner instead. This one was $70 and included: 4 12oz. N.Y. Strip Steaks comes with Mashed Potatoes, Penne Pasta with your choice of Sauce (Marinara, Carbonara, Vodka), Salad Bread and a Bottle of Wine Red or White. We only received one tray of penne, not 2 like we did prior... Yes, it was steak, but for more money we got less food than before. Today I went with my friends to hang out at the James Madison pub to listen to music. We sat outside because of coronavirus you are not able to sit on the inside. They were not serving drinks or food until 4 o'clock and since we got there at 3:30 we decided to wait. At 4 o'clock still no one came to serve us and we waited some more at about 415 the waitress finally did come over and brought us a menu. We decided to order dinner and drinks and the food was OK one of my friends ordered another beer and he never received that. But all in all the service was mediocre. We recently tried this restaurant on a Thursday night, and found it to be very busy. I thought the food was pretty good a little bit pricey but I don't think there's many places around anymore that aren't pricey. The service was good. We ordered a special and from the menu and both were good. I hope they make it. My only issue was paying 5.00 for a Coors light bottle...it was a bit surprising. I had high hopes for this place when I walked in but to say I was disappointed is an understatement. We waited over 2 hours for our food....bar food. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't anything special. When the restaurant is almost empty and it takes this long, there is an issue, even if it's a new place or under new management. The owner is more interested in talking to his buddies and drinking than making sure all customers are taken care of. When you sit and wait for that long, and people that came in later than you get served first it's not a great feeling. The new owners definitely have a lot to learn! Tried this place last night 6/2/22.....it's clear to see that they are understaffed and the staff that is there are not in sync! Bartender(s) worked aimlessly bumping into one another while fumbling in their search for various beverage ingredients. We placed food orders and waited nearly 45 minutes to get it only to find that one order was correct and the other was not at all what my wife ordered. No explanation as to why other than to say "we're really busy". I had finished my dry cool temp steak and cheese grinder when my wife's correct order was brought out by possibly the owner. The bartender who took the order chimed in to us while waiting for the correct meal to show up and stated she correctly entered the order in a childish defensive way. It was obvious that the order could not have been mistakenly interpreted by the kitchen staff...not even close to what came out compared to what was ordered. Witnessed a bar patron vaping at the bar.... it was quite obvious to see this second hand smoke but nothing was said or done about it! A couple came in with intentions to order food but were told it would take an hour to get it....they finished their drinks and left! Solution: Owners need to get in control...Better training needed for your existing staff.....hire more staff....otherwise you may not be existing too long! read more

This is a tough one. When walking in, the atmosphere is very inviting and that includes a large bar area in the back. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful and the place was also very clean. Our meals really weren't very special. One had the Mac n cheese that visually looked like it would be delicious...very thick and cheesy, but after tasting, it had very little flavor. Which I found very odd with all that cheese. It needed seasoning badly. The 2nd dish was Nachos. They were ok, except for the fact that sweet chili sauce was drizzled over the much of the meal. It actually tasted like duck sauce. Who puts this on nachos??. I had a grilled chicken wrap with fries....it was ok, but again needed seasoning. Very little flavor and on the small side. The chocolate cake for dessert was good and our waitress / bartender made a mean Manhattan up. All in all, just not worth the price on this visit. I suggest having your cooks taste the food and learn how to season. I might try again and order something differant read more

When my party walked into the restaurant, we were not expecting much. we were not greeted by staff and we were confused by the Christmas light decorations that were up in late May. When we were finally seated, we were not thrilled about the cheap looking place mats and having to wait for menus. We started with the Vodka Fried ravioli special, which was pleasantly surprising. The sauce was flavorful and the ravioli was decently fried but could use a little more seasoning. For our entrees, we ordered the Crispy dill chicken sandwich and the hangover burger. The chicken was a little dry but the burger was juicy. Both sandwiches were hard to pick up and messy, but overall good. The fries were the highlight of the meal, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We ordered the chocolate lovin' spoon cake. Solid dessert, very moist, dense, and rich. Overall, the food is what is keeping this rating positive (8/10), because the ambiance was a little odd and, although friendly, the staff seemed a bit confused. read more

I have come here a few times . I wanted to like it but I just can't justify the price to the quality of food . It's not great , it's okay at best . I think they tried to make traditional bar food "fancy" and failed . Items were over cooked . Dessert actually had mold on it and the ice cream was gel . When we asked how old it was the bartender laughed and said she dug it out of the bottom of the freezer (hidden from health department I guess ). Unfortunate as the inside gives you a feeling of good comfort bar food ... and it's just not food . Drinks sadly are overpriced. read more

Great place! We looked in Yelp at the menu and chose this gem. Something for everyone, even the kids. Great food! My husband had a burger (bbq burger). It had a chili and coffee rub and he loved it. The nachos were huge and delicious. I had a salad with goat cheese, apples and candied pecans. Sooo good. Our server, Maddie was friendly, and attentive. The bathrooms were clean!!! It's a little bit of a drive off the highway, but well with it. We'll definitely return. Highly recommend! read more
