Lyman Eggs Benedict with fruit on the side

Came here for New Year's Day Brunch as we saw their Facebook ad and it looked like a cool place to try. Was a bit of a process to get a reservation. Called a few days prior to see if we could get a table and they kept saying they were booked unless we wanted to come in at 10:00am. I said no thank you and tried again the next day....they said no again but to call again at night to see if there were any cancellations. So I called again and they said we could come at 12:30 which is the time we preferred (it was either that or 1:00 - can't remember the exact time). Upon arriving, the room down below appeared to be full, but there were many tables up top that were empty. Maybe there weren't enough servers to accommodate more tables, but it definitely wasn't booked up so not sure why they kept telling me they couldn't accommodate us at the time we preferred. Ambiance really nice - overlooking the golf course. We walked around after brunch around the cart path. Nice walk - even in the cold. I got the Lyman's Egg Benedict with gluten free bread and fruit on the side. Boyfriend got the Western Omelet with bacon instead of ham. Home fries very tasty however lukewarm. I would like to come back for one of their events as they seem to have a lot going on. Their drink menu looks cool too.

Food was on par, beer variety was great - too bad the sun went behind a cloud too soon since we were hoping to enjoy the foliage and the patio Love how they support so many local breweries- hoping happy hour comes back in the winter when golf ends :)

The Elote dip was so good and the chips were salty crispy and fresh. The service was great they didn't leave me wanting for anything. The view of the gold course was stunning and they have the Lymans lanter festival set up right there so you can see it while you eat if you sit in the right spot. This place is beautiful and delicious. I definitely recommend although the Philly cheese steak was a little soggy which is why it only has 4 stars.

I must preface that my experience here was limited. I attended an event that was held at 1741. However, the full menu was available. Service was friendly and prompt. The event was held in a separate room, so we had privacy and quiet. I ordered the fig and prosciutto flatbread. It was OK. My friends had the mash potato bowl special and a salad. Both looked good. This restaurant is positioned near a golf course. It offers a patio, bar, brunch and sporadic entertainment. I would definitely consider going back to experience more of their offerings.

The food here is excellent. I love the view of the golf course. The interior of the restaurant is very homey. Our server was very sweet and helpful. Love a local business. My burger was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Loved that the bacon jam wasn't too sweet. Will definitely be back

The food was delicious. I ordered the Farmhouse burger. My friend ordered the baked mac & cheese. We also ordered chips and salsa for the table. the Farmhouse burger had awesome, flavored bacon, and caramelized onions with cheese. I ordered it with the side of sweet potato fries. I was incredibly full after this meal. Our waitress was very sweet and help me pick my meal because I was weighing the options of several items. We were seated within 10 minutes of getting there. It was pretty busy due to the beautiful weather out.

    The birthday Lady

Held a birthday brunch there for 25 and it was terrific. First of all working with Becky before hand to arrange for the event and work out the details was a real pleasure and very easy. The venue and its ambiance was wonderful with lovely views of the golf course and surrounding hills looking through the room of windows was perfect. The food items on the buffet were well presented, tasty, and plentiful. The service staff were very pleasant and attentive to details and any requests any of our party had during our three hour event. Could not recommend any more highly and without any reservations. Thank you very much Becky and Lyman Orchards.

Mattabeset FFA Banquet (view from podium)

We held our FFA Banquet at the Event Tent at the 1741 Pub & Grill and it was AMAZING! The service was outstanding. For example, I learned at the event we had a guest who is allergic to pepper. The chef went out of their way to prepare a delicious hot meal so she would feel welcome. Great communication throughout the entire process (thanks Becky!). The tent was suitable for any event. The supplemental heat was appreciated for the crisp evening. The following day I asked our teens for feedback, it was 100% positive! That is high praise indeed (IYKYK)! One guest, who has attended several banquets across CT, said it was the best banquet food he ever had.

Service was super fast and staff was very nice. It wasn't busy as this was lunch on a Friday afternoon. The grilled cheese was by far one of the best I've had. You know me, I'm a sucker for a solid grilled cheese or mac n cheese. This one is one of the best. By far. My mom had the bacon burger, it was great, cooked correctly and filling. We also had the fried lasagna appetizer which was awesome, just like fried raviolis but lasagna. It's a win! Of course the view is beautiful even in the winter! The overall vibes of the restaurant is clearly golf course but I love it and find it simple and clean. They have trivia on Tuesdays and I would love to come by for an evening next time!

We had tickets at eight for Haunting at the Ridge about three minutes away. After looking at the menu, we decided to come here for dinner. I was very excited because of all the great menu options. The service was terrible from the start all around. We arrived at 6:15. There was two people in front of us. The hostess acknowledged us, but never took our name. A few minutes later, other people started coming in and she started taking their names and asking them if they wanted to sit outside. She never gave us that option. One of the people came in and started to debate whether or not they wanted to wait 20 minutes. She told them "You can stay or go, it doesn't matter to me." I should have known right there to leave. We were seated at 6:30 which was not a bad wait. 6:45 our orders were taken. Our waitress did not come back to the table one time after bringing our drinks. Never checked on us, never let us know what was going on with the food. She came back at 7:28 with our appetizer. We asked her how long would it take for the rest of our food. She apologized and said it would be another 20 to 25 minutes. I didn't understand how burgers take over an hour to make. We canceled the rest of the order. I was excited about the hotdog. Another letdown. It was cold when I got it and the chili on top had no flavor. I'm not even sure if it was deep-fried. Definitely not worth the $14.50 price. I will say the fries were very good. They were the only bright spot of the night. They have a lot to offer, but I would never come back here due to my experience.

I was visiting Connecticut last week for wedding and staying with some friends in Middletown. I arrived on a Tuesday night with a hungry stomach so we figured Eli Cannon's was an easy spot to hit up. I went here many, many, many years ago when I still lived in Connecticut (I live in LA now) but don't remember much of the experience other then what the inside looks like and man, it still looks the exact freaking same. We arrived around 8PM and got seated right away. The staff was super attentive with providing drinks and menus and the kitchen staff had the food out super quick as well. I kept it simple and ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap with a side of french fries and really enjoyed it. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap tasted great and the hot sauce wasn't overpowering. The french fries here were crispy and tasted great, the perfect pairing for a late night bite (look, eating out at 8PM is late for me). Overall, Eli Cannon's is mostly a bar, but is also a pretty solid place to grab a bite to eat. My only disappointment was the lack of information about the history of the establishment. There is a lot of marketing that references its connection to a jailhouse on the menu, but very little information is actually shared within the tavern itself. I found myself wanting to learn more about the story behind the place. I also think it would be fun to add a photo-op area--perhaps even outdoors--with a set of mock jail bars where guests could take pictures. It would fit the theme and add a memorable touch. He first began experimenting with homebrewing when his brother-in-law gifted him a Mr. Beer kit. The first batch of Bergen's homebrew was awful, but the kit came with an interesting book that he read over and over again. He soon became fascinated with the science behind brewing and fermentation. Later on, a friend gifted him a bottle of homemade mead. Bergen's wife Emilie liked it much more than any beer she ever tried, so he decided to try his hand at crafting mead. Mead is a fermented beverage made from a mixture of honey, water and yeast. It is the oldest fermented beverage known to man (predating beer, wine and cider). Like his first batch of beer, Bergen's first batch of mead was also awful. After several months, Bergen finally began making mead that was drinkable. The Bergens later had an idea to open their own brewery. After seeing how many breweries that Connecticut already had, they instead decided to open a meadery. The Bergens found a space in Middletown's old trolley barn building to house their meadery and taproom. Although not the state's only meadery, Bergen House is the only one to have its own taproom for on-site consumption. I recently visited Bergen House for the first time after going for a long bike ride on the nearby Air Line State Park Trail. I was greeted by Emilie Bergen who was very friendly and talked to me about the different meads. There were eight different meads on tap during my visit. Each one has different spices and fruits added for flavoring. I ordered a sampler flight which featured "Crime Scene" (Rye Bourbon Barrel-Aged Sweet & Sour Cherry Mead), "Local Buzz" (Dry Mead made with local honey from Hilltop Apiaries), "Wally" (Off-Dry Mead made with wildflower honey, green tea and Citra hops), and "Grapefruit Meads Business" (Wildflower Mead flavored with rosemary, grapefruit & ginger). The latter two were my favorites! Emilie also gave me a small sample of "Bochet": a traditional French Mead made with wildflower honey caramelized before fermentation. I ended up taking home a growlito of "Wally", which tasted a lot like a honey-infused New England IPA. I had a great experience at Bergen House and I look forward to returning!
