A great selection of mead & a very cool tasting room. Small patio out front & a game room. We'll be back!

This Middletown meadery is such a hidden gem! A laid-back, board-game and chat kind of place, this is a great "night out with friends" location if you're not into loud, bustling bars. Curious (and awesome) aspect about this meadery is that they pay their workers a living wage, so any and all tips are donated to charity! Will be back very soon!

I love this place! Chill hang out place, amazing mead and the staff are always friendly. They are starting to do some events too which are awesome. They allow you to bring in your own food and sometimes have some food trucks. I haven't been on any days with the trucks yet though. I also love that they donate all their tips to a charity of their choice because they pay their staff a living wage!

So the next stop of Central Connecticut breweries in my home state during my vacay was Bergen House located near downtown Middletown. Bergen House specializes in meads. It is located in a large industrial building that is also home to a few other businesses. But the brewery itself is pretty spacious. There is some outdoor seating, as well seating in the entry way, and a large space with a huge bar once you get all the way inside. We sat at the bar and I could not decide what mead I wanted (also, I was a bit tipsy from the previous brewery LOL). The nice lady at the bar asked me what I preferred and gave me a sample of the Orange Blossom. The Orange Blossom is classified as very dry and similar to Prosecco, but since I also enjoy wine (hey, alcohol is LIFE lol), I really enjoyed it and had a 12 oz, as well as a second helping in the form of a shushie, which was just as equally refreshing and delicious. There is no food on the premises but there are bags of kettle corn for sale if you need to munch on something, but hey, you're on Main Street and there are plenty of places nearby to grab a bite after a good time at the Bergen House. Another stop I recommend for CT's breweries.

A veteran owned Meadery off of main street Middletown in the old trolley house, right before Arigoni bridge and behind Eli Cannons. Recently moving to the area, my friends suggested to check this place out as we all love our mead. With a vast selection of flavors that use a wide variety of different honeys, everyone is sure to find something that tickles their fancy and taste buds on this menu. My favorites were the Ginja & the chai! Had never tried any form of fermented chai flavors in any form of alcohol and I love those first time experiences that inspire my own brewing. I will strongly suggest checking out this business and supporting the hard-working locals who are creating quality products that you simply cannot find in any stores. Treat yourself, bring some friends and take a few bottles to go to share with others who may have never even had the opportunity to even try this ancient beverage that continues to keep up with the evolving times we live in. 5 stars and I'll certainly be a regular here with friends & co-workers.

Bergen House, is to my knowledge, the first meadery to open in CT. Its kind of behind Eli Cannon's and just next to Perkatory coffee in Middletown- That's how I found it. I stopped along RT9 on a lazy Sunday for coffee- Saw the meadery was open and stopped by. I ordered a jumbo flight of 8 meads. My favourite was the strawberry basil, coffee and spicy mead. If you don't know, mead predates beer and is essentially fermented honey and water. Bergen house is in an old warehouse. Large space/ fermentory area. Staff was friendly as were the customers, who were regulars- at least the ones I talked to. Mead wasn't top tier but was much better than average. It needs a little fine tuning but this should be a welcome addition to the CT craft brewing scene. Cheers.

This place is so amazing, I love to come here when I'm in the mood to grab a couple of drinks but also unwind with a quiet atmosphere to either socialize or play board games. They have a variety of board games, darts, Jenga, a mini golf thing, etc. The drinks are great prices and they don't even add tip on it! (They pay their staff a living wage so tip goes towards charity). The bathrooms are extremely clean, and come stocked with free pads and tampons in the women's rooms, very considerate.

Aquila's gives a 30-minute grace period, which helped since the area gets very dark at night and the roads are narrow. I knew ahead of time there would be a lobster food truck and a live salsa band. When you arrive, you check in with the hostess, though there's no clear hostess stand since she's stationed at the end of the bar. The inside was crowded with no available seats, but we weren't there for the band anyway. Our igloo had a heater, but two would've been ideal. They recommend bringing a blanket, which I forgot, but it wasn't too cold--around the high 40s. We tried the "Sweet Wine Flight," which included Sparkling Rosé, Moscato, and white and red wine slushies. The white wine slushy was my favorite. It started raining while we were there, and everyone with fire pits cleared out, so I was extra glad we chose an igloo. They offered a cheese box, but it looked too small, so we stuck to drinks. Our server was polite and brought everything out quickly. Reservations give you two hours, and we had a great time. I like the variety of reservation options they offer. For suggestions: it would be nice to have a real charcuterie board instead of tiny cheese and veggie boxes. The indoor space could also be larger, especially for people coming for the live band, and there are no seats around the bar. Overall, though, it's a cozy spot, and I enjoyed the experience.

His package price was competitive and the reviews were great. I corresponded with Al frequently leading up to the day of our winery tour as our group had a lot of questions. Al always got back to me promptly. Our driver Pat was courteous, professional, accommodating and friendly. Our pick up was 10:30am. Pat arrived early and called to let us know but didn't rush us at all. He helped us with our bags, helped us into and out of the limo, etc as all good drivers should. There was water and a bottle of local wine in the limo. Once we got to the wineries he escorted us inside and got us all set up. At the second winery there were some stools set up instead of seats. Pat quickly went and got us some comfy chairs. He let us know what our timeline would be at each place and always arrived early but didn't rush us. Lunch was pretty good. Everyone liked their food. No complaints. We didn't like the third winery (our fault, Pat tried to politely inform us it wasn't his fave but didn't want to push us into not going and regretting it). Pat was nice enough to pick us up early. All in all a great experience. I would definitely recommend LI Vino/VZ Limo to anyone.

Excluding me and the driver, there were about 10 passengers. I had two seats to myself. And speaking of seats, they were very comfortable. There was decent legroom (I'm 6'1"). Initially, I couldn't find the outlet. I eventually discovered that it' was hidden under the seat. And unlike the Hampton Jitney, the bus wasn't covered with a tacky looking wrapping. The bus left Manhattan at 1 PM. It was scheduled to arrive at Montauk at 4:15 PM. It arrived at 3:28. And with that said, the ride was far from perfect. The bus was as bumpy as a school bus. It was pure torture. The driver seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. He wasn't mean, just apathetic. Other than checking in people and announcing the stops in a soft voice, he said nothing. I paid $34 which is reasonable. The Luxury Liner doesn't run nearly as frequently as the Jitney or LIRR Montauk branch. Furthermore, you don't get the VIP treatment like on the Hampton Ambassador. If you're looking for a no frills experience and you don't care about comfort then the Luxury Liner is ideal.
