We recently stopped into Little Pub in Branford and enjoyed an overall solid meal with a few standout items, though not without a couple of drawbacks. The restaurant has a cozy, rustic pub atmosphere that makes it a comfortable place to settle in, whether you are grabbing drinks or sitting down for a full meal. The menu leans into creative comfort food, offering elevated versions of classic pub staples. We started with the nachos, which came piled high with melted cheddar jack, chili, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and other classic toppings. They were flavorful and satisfying, with a good balance of cheese and heat, and they made for a strong opening to the meal. That said, the price felt a bit steep for an appetizer, especially compared to similar local pub spots. For what you pay, you expect either a larger portion or something that really stands out. The New England clam chowder had a rich, creamy base with tender potatoes and good seasoning, delivering that comforting, traditional flavor you hope for. However, it could have used more clams. While the broth itself was enjoyable, the clam presence was lighter than expected, and for a seafood forward soup at that price point, a more generous portion of clams would have made a noticeable difference. The meatloaf grilled cheese sandwich was one of the more memorable dishes. Thick cut toast held together hearty slices of meatloaf, melted cheddar, bacon, BBQ sauce, frizzled onions, and buttermilk ranch. It was rich, indulgent, and packed with flavor, a fun twist on classic comfort food. It is definitely not a light option, but if you are in the mood for something bold and filling, it delivers. We also ordered the Ventura Highway burger, topped with smoked bacon, gorgonzola, and guacamole over a juicy Angus patty. The combination of smoky, creamy, and tangy flavors worked well together, and the burger itself was cooked properly. Still, like the other items, the price felt high for a burger, especially when appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, and burgers all sit at the upper end of the local pub pricing spectrum. Overall, Little Pub offers creative, well executed comfort food in a welcoming setting. The flavors are there, and the menu has personality. The main critiques are value based, the chowder could use more clams, and the pricing across much of the menu feels elevated for what you receive. My husband and I finally had a chance to try this newly opened restaurant. When we arrived it took a good ten minutes before anyone came to the hostess station, where a sign specifically says to wait to be seated. Luckily the food more than made up for the wait. I started with the french onion soup, which I thought was a bit small for $9, but it was tasty and hit the spot on a cold winters night. My husband ordered the BLT sandwich with fries. For my meal, I ordered the thanksgiving turkey wrap with sweet potato fries, which came piping hot. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and fries. You would never know this location was once a chinese food restaurant. The decor was rustic and pub like, giving a very cozy feel. This location is close to home for us, so I definitely see us returning again very soon! read more

We had the wings on special which were very good and one had the meatloaf grilled cheese which he said was excellent and I had the "Over Easy" burger with bacon and egg on it and it was fantastic. Both came with fries which were decent. We ate at the bar which was comfortable and service was very good. This is a nice spot about halfway between this particular friend and I and we have been trying to find a spot in the area to meet up. I had a few on my list to try but I think we're going to stick to Little Pub 7. It was very good! read more

Love their Old Saybrook location so decided to give Branford a try. Food is good. I was a little disappointed in their sushi bowl wrap as it didn't seem to have as much tuna as their other location and instead had a lot of rice. My girlfriend loves the eggplant wrap which is her go to. We also enjoy sharing their giant pretzel. I've also tried their meatloaf grilled cheese which is delicious and well as various weekly specials they rotate all of which I enjoyed. Will be coming back. read more

Reasonable prices and extensive menu with many salad and sandwhich choices. Adding this location to our list of local places that we will return for casual meals. Holy schamole, this building finally houses someone to create a winner in the food dept.. This place only tries to be a Pub, with outstanding fare. Cocktails are good pours and the sandwiches were ridiculously satisfying. I had Philly steak and cheese and hubby had a Ruben w/ pastrami & corned beef. Crispy, piping hot and perfect. The remodel brings rough hewn timber beams and tapestries and rustic chandelier lighting. Service was prompt, courteous and efficient. We can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.. read more

I'm giving it a one for the dinner that I had fish and chips really disappointing for $23 meal. I ordered a salad instead of fries. The salad was fresh but it came from the kitchen on a plate that just came out of the dishwasher. It was a very hot plate with a fresh salad on it. Not good the fish was wrapped in this almost fur coat type of coating. It was terrible and this is a sidekick. The coleslaw had no flavor. Good food. Fast and friendly service. Consistent, no frills. It was tough to get a table for 5 on a very busy Thursday night but we all squeezed in at a 4 top. It's a great place for a quick family meal. They are efficient and will get you seated fed and on your merry way read more

I wish we had the opportunity to try the food here. We were seated and sat there for 15 minutes. No one served us or acknowledged us. Many servers walked by us. A few looked over, then went to do something else. We were very disappointed since the Old Saybrook location is one of our favorite places. Could be a nice place. Great bartender and waitress: Lisa. Good G and T. The big pretzel was crisp and warm but smelled like beef, probably a kitchen/oven problem. The two sauces were bland. Clam chowder was a white pudding with a few clams. The waffle under the chicken was stale, weirdly seasoned and inedible. Fish and chips was okay. The staff, overall, was pleasant. We've been here a few times hoping it would improve, but unfortunately, the food has gotten worse not better. The wings were disappointing. The steak tips were advertised as tenderloin, but were anything but tender, do not recommend. The burger was Ok as was the chopped salad but nothing memorable. Service is consistently slow especially at the bar where there seems to be no hurry unless Damien is working. At this point we gave enough chances and don't see a reason to return. read more

Went for a late lunch with my wife this afternoon around 4:00 at the Branford location. Note that we did go to the Old Saybrook location a few years ago and had an unremarkable experience. Ended up sitting at the bar (usually the best service).  Error.  To begin with the bartender had absolutely zero personality.  Slow and inefficient. Our drinks were fine and we ordered the following: French Onion soup, which was flavorless.  Loaded with croutons and provolone cheese?  Should have been Swiss.  Barely 8 oz of soup.  The crispy onions on top were good. Buffalo chicken wings.  Over cooked, dry and chewy.  The sauce had a sweetness to it and not the lease bit "Buffalo Spicy".  The blue cheese seemed straight out of a jar of disgusting blue cheese dressing.  Yuck! My wife had the fish and Chips.  She liked the the fish and I tasted it and it was very good.  The fries were fries, fried potatoes that's it, boring. Had to ask for extra ketchup which was delivered in a tiny dish with barely a tablespoon.  Had to ask for salt and pepper as well. I had the Ruben.  Chewy and a significant lack of sauerkraut and dressing.  Dry and boring.  The fries were fries, boring as well. All of this garbage for only $85.00.   As a side note, I attempted to email this restaurant directly at the email address given on their comments card. Came back as undeliverable. Not surprising. Just what Branford needed! Have had the Fairfield and Old Saybrook location, and this one is on par. Our waiter, Chris L. was attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. French onion soup was hot and fresh, and the Napa salmon flatbread was well seasoned. Great experience and cozy spot! read more

Decided to try out this place as it just opened up recently. It was cozy and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I had Stephanie and she was terrific. Very pleasant and accommodating and always made sure I had everything I needed. Will probably ask for her again. Food was solid as well. Will def be back read more

We went in around 430 on a Saturday and found seats at the bar. The bartender didn't seem very interested to be there but besides that we thought the food was great...we had the French onion soup, Mac and cheese with pulled pork and the pickle wings...we enjoyed everything and will definitely be back! read more

3 places in the last few years have gone out of business in this spot. I predict Little Pub will be #4. Stopped by at 7:50 today, Sunday. It wasn't very crowded for a football Sunday, especially with the Packers and Cowboys playing. I sat at the bar that had about 10 patrons. I asked for a cocktail and a menu. She said " the kitchen is closed. It's supposed to be open but since it's not busy, we closed it." Seriously?? This is not the way to do business and I can see why they are slow. I'll never be back and will tell anyone that asks that they're better off going to Archie Moore's a few blocks away. read more

Kudos to the entire staff for handling this opening without a snafu. By the time we left, I think most of Branford joined us...not a seat in the house and parking lot was full. The food was fresh and delicious. The waitstaff attentive and fast. We had Chris as our server. He was well versed in the menu and super happy to be there. He handled a large number of tables with finesse and humor. Will definitely return to try more items. Love that the website menu has the pics of the food so I didn't have to go searching for them. Also, music selection was great and did not overpower the venue. We were actually able to have a conversation without fighting the music or the other patrons. Good job, little Pub. Little Pub is exactly what Branford needs! Great food, friendly and efficient staff, convenient location, and prices are reasonable! The menu was diverse enough to make our entire family happy. The spring rolls were very good and the Dragon roll burrito was AMAZING. My daughter loved the Mac and cheese. Park on the opposite side from Dunkin and back in - it gets busy and I see why. Crowded at 1:30 Saturday but were seated promptly.They put 3 tables together for our party of 6.Split the nacho platter which was excellent.I had the turkey wrap excellent also.Took half home.Sweet potato fries were great.Nothing was salty.Wife had fish tacos which she said were very good.2 others had the BLT's which were great also.Service was very good.Crowd started to thin out around 2:30 which seems like a great time to go.No one had drinks from the bar so no comments on that end. read more

Food is excellent for pub-style food. There are soooo many great food choices on their menu. Service was fair the first time we were there and pretty good the second time (at the bar). The hostess is a bit slow clearing bar tables and seating people. They could use some improvement here. The bar area is great, but when we were led to the tables back in the restaurant, we found the space too cold. Parking is tight - a problem that's endemic with this building. We look forward to returning often. read more
