Prime BGR in New Haven was a fantastic find! The location is super convenient to the Omni and being open for lunch made it an easy choice for a midday stop. The restaurant was clean and quaint, and the western beef theme was done just right -- fun without feeling over the top. We started with the beef nachos and they were absolutely perfect! I ordered the pickled jalapeños and onions on the side for my dining companion and was secretly thrilled I didn't have to share them. The burger flight featuring their top three burgers was phenomenal. Every burger was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and memorable enough that I immediately regretted not ordering the onion rings too. The chef even came out to make sure everything met expectations, which was a really nice touch. Heather was a lovely server -- warm, friendly, and attentive throughout the meal. I also heard these burgers are going to be featured on a food road show soon, and after eating here, I completely understand why. They were excellent. Everyone else in my party were very happy with their choices as well (Ultimate Burger, Marinated Kale Ceaser and Crispy Chichen Wrap). Well I went back today and I think the burgers are better than I remember! Everything was delicious! Just be ready to get messy when eating their burgers I got the Texas BBQ burger with truffle fries and I was full halfway through The bavarian pretzel nugs were delicious! Thinly sliced pretzels crisp on the outside and soft inside. I also really enjoyed the sweet plantain appetizer. I think I'll be full until dinner tomorrow! I had a beer since it was finally the weekend, and my friend enjoyed a classic margarita--they absolutely loved it. We were craving some pub food so decided to stop here for dinner before a concert. The staff was super friendly and very attentive and our waitress was awesome. We had a coconut margarita, which was lovely and had a ton of shaved coconut on the top. For an appetizer, we had fried pickles, which were very interesting because they were fried like a french fry, and came with the garlic, aïoli sauce, unfortunately, because the pickles were thin, and the breading was a little thick. It ended up tasting a lot like oil and not so much like pickle. I ordered two burgers with truffle fries and tater tots. The tots were awesome. They were super crispy and flavorful. But the fries were actually a bit cold and soggy when they came out so that was unfortunate. The main reason I'm giving the interaction three stars was because of the burgers. Both burgers we asked for were ordered medium, and medium rare, but when they arrive to our table, they were most certainly well done. On top of that, the fat and juice is coming out of the burger when I cut it open were excessive. I really enjoy a messy burger, but this was beyond. I actually needed to put several napkins on my plate and keep switching it out because of the liquid that was literally everywhere. My buns were pretty much a floppy mess. These burgers are some of the most expensive I've had but they are also some of the best that I've had. We got the Honey Truffle and the Marseille Burgers. The Marseille was actually a little bit sweeter but was well paired with gruyere and bacon jam. The Honey Truffle with the fried onion has just that little extra texture to make the honey flavor pop. I had their signature chicken sandwich along with a side of fancy tots. My wife and mom had a chicken soup to start and then chicken with sweet potato fries. The tots were to die for, rolled in bacon dust and fried perfectly to a divine crunch! The sandwich was also amazing. The sauce was so good! Our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. She was great and also gave me the guest wifi password. The ambiance was somewhat noisy but tolerable. I went with my wife and my mom and we were able to have a conversation without shouting. Mini Beef & Cilantro Empanadas: 7/10 Very good, not sure how I feel about cilantro but we inhaled them. Min Mac & Cheese: 8.5/10. So this is breaded and has something special in it...but my gf who is super picky about mac loved it. I liked it a lot as well. I tried some sweet rum drink "Pineapple Express" they had on the Happy Hour menu which was PERFECT! Sometimes bartenders make drinks too strong thinking they are doing you a favor-this wasn't overly or under boozy...you could taste the rum but it wasn't overwhelming...that's how I like the rare cocktail I order. Located across from the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, Prime 16 is a tequila burger bar. It offers options to sit in a dining room or lounge and offers a casual neighborhood feel. The back wall behind the bar featured a variety of illuminated tequilas. The bartender used ice cold water to chill the coup glass for my cocktail. The drink was shaken but unfortunately, she let the shaker sit with my beverage inside while she made other drinks and it was incredibly watered down. It was served with an olive in a cute wooden skewer that also featured an olive. The olive itself was a bit oily with a satisfying and salty flavor. The bartender was polite and friendly but I waited over 10 minutes for my drink to be delivered and over 35 minutes for my boneless chicken wing and fries. The food was satisfying yet lackluster. The biggest problem with this place is the manager that is rude and demeaning. Shes a blonde lady that every time I go there makes me want to never come back because of the way she talks to the staff..today I watched her treat a delivery driver like a second class citizen. The kale Caesar salad is one of the bests I've had! It's so good! It's a regalar bar style restaurant with a divided partition to sit in the bar area or at lower tables. It took awhile for our waitress to come. I wish they had a better style of seating design as it was a little too tight to be able to hear your party comfortably but hey that's a bar atmosphere for you.
