Stopped here after visiting Yale. My husband wanted a beer . Place seemed like a locals hangout. Vibes were fine. Staff friendly. He also had a burger. No complaints.

Came here because we heard about the dedicated gluten free fryer. Sat down, got some drinks ourselves. Went back for food and another round and their fryer was down. They were actively working on fixing it bc apparently we aren't the only people who come here specifically for that fryer! It didn't get fixed in time but we enjoyed the vibe nonetheless. Very crowded and loud but if you're in the mood for it...it's worth it a stop.

Happened to be in New Haven and wanted a snack and a couple drinks. It was a Monday afternoon and we took a seat at one of the tables in the bar area, they have a limited menu which is perfect for what we were looking for. It was their Monday Funday so the vibes were cards and some cool board games! I got the glizzy of the week which happened to be a Bahn Mi all beef hot dog with all the fixings of a Bahn Mi, cucumber, carrots, fresh jalapeño on a baguette roll, was perfect! My wife got an order of the General Tso's tenders and we split an order of onion rings. You can tell a quality onion ring when the onion doesn't fall out upon first bite, sauces were good too, we got ranch and a smoked ketchup. Bartenders were quick and friendly, great place off downtown to grab a bite and a drink! As always, don't forget to pay for street parking in order to avoid a ticket!

Stopped in here one our recent visit to New Haven. Very cute name and there is seating outside, inside by the bar, and in the separate room that has a stage for live music. We got the nachos and the yuca fritas. Both SO GOOD! We ended up having to take some home. The fritas come with two sauces, a creamy one and a cilantro-ie one. Loved them! The chairs are size inclusive, and sturdy. Parking is on the street, (pay to park). It was one of the highlights of our weekend

This past weekend, I had organized and hosted an After Concert party following the Hanabie show at Toad's Place here at Three Sheets. The organization was pretty casual, and post concert we had about 40 people meet up after the show, and more followed a bit later. Probably around 50 people attended the party Dan was a Rockstar bartender, and everything went smooth, and all attending had fun, while still seeing the regular Three Sheets crowd there and seamlessly being able to enjoy their night as well Great evening and job by all involved, and BIG thanks to Three Sheets for hosting us

I stopped in for a quick drink, and noticed it was almost 4: happy hour. This was my first time going, I've always wanted to visit but couldn't for one reason or another, and I enjoyed myself. The atmosphere of the bar reminded me of old New Haven. I'm always a fan of dive bars that embed themselves in vintage New Haven-ness without being kitschy or annoying. I will definitely go again and the highlight was the bartender. She was perfectly attentive and made me a guava punch with the perfect pour.

Came here for lunch with my friend on St. Patrick's Day and had an okay experience. The food was not the most impressive, it was just okay. The fries were probably the best part, except they didn't have regular ketchup... they had smoked ketchup which I thought was kind of strange. I didn't love the type of hotdogs they had and they put way too much cheese on the hotdog. I would not necessarily rush back to eat at Three Sheets.

    Cheers to the beer goddess

Vintage+divey New Haven is the perfect want to describe this bar. It has a lot of personality! Beer list is solid - something for everyone. The bar can get crowded, but the bartenders did a good job handling the crowd. This summer, the crowd seems to be locals and graduate students. I think it might be different when the college students are back. Definitely looks set-up for live music, so I look forward to another opportunity to visit. Juke box for fun! Though the soundtrack for the bar, even without patron intervention, was great.

    Love it.

Pretty disappointed. We stopped in on a cold Saturday afternoon for lunch with family. We walked in and there was only one other small table of three in the restaurant. We grabbed a table and the waitress/bartender quickly headed over with menus and water. We ordered lunch and beers fairly quickly, received our drinks add appetizers and then waited about 30+ minutes for our food. The appetizer of poppers was good but the tiniest order I have ever seen, there were about six half poppers on the dish, but they were tasty. When our entrees finally arrived the burgers and chicken dishes were sizable, the French drip was very small with very little taste. The French dip special was missing the fries so eventually the fries showed up after we asked our server and she again checked the menu. We really wanted to love this place but it was not reflective of the reviews.

Draft beer menu. Waitress recommended the clams, so of course, that's what I'm trying. Will keep you posted.

Came here bc of a yelp review. Got the fried clam platter as recommended. It was tasty, but the overall ambiance & food seemed like slightly above average "bar food." There are a lot of local brews on tap and the ipa the bartender suggested was great. Not the high-end chic place I was wanting, but needed a quick bite before a meeting. They got me in and out quickly. There's also a cute little patio with a few tables for outdoor seating although they were all full when I arrived. Would be a great place to meet and have drinks.

Nachos and happy hour strawberry margarita.

Good tacos, chicken nachos and strawberry margaritas. If you get cold easily bring a layer to wear inside. The service was kind and welcoming. We went on a weekday evening and it was busy.

Why had I never heard of it this place before now? The great drinks, food, and divey-feel make this place the perfect go-to for classic bar fare. I was introduced to this place while on the Elm City Party Bike since this was one of the stops - and I'm super glad it was! The place has a great beer selection, but I was in the mood for a cocktail. The menu only had about 4 options so I wasn't expecting much, but I was super surprised to get this unique and beautiful drink that was also delicious and refreshing! It was called the "Starry Night" and it literally looked exactly that - a pretty purple gin and elderflower drink with edible golden stars. I would definitely come back for it. For food, we got the Buffalo Cauliflower Bites, the Grilled Cheese, and the Nachos. I'm usually skeptical about "healthy" substitutes for bar food so I didn't expect much from the cauliflower, but it was seriously delicious. The crunch these things had was unreal and the flavor was perfect. I would honestly order these over wings. The nachos were also great especially because I love refried beans and beer queso. The grilled cheese was as yummy as a grilled cheese can get, especially since it had garlic butter and smoked gouda!

We went around 7 PM and were seated immediately without reservations, which was a pleasant surprise for a Friday evening. It wasn't quite warm enough for the patio, but the inside still had a cozy atmosphere that worked perfectly for a pre-theater bite. My cousin ordered the crab cake, and I went with the Brussels sprouts and risotto Parmesan tater tots. We were really just looking for a few appetizers before the show, but everything hit the spot. The Brussels sprouts were flavorful and paired with thick savory slices of bacon, while the risotto Parmesan tater tots were crispy, cheesy, and hard to stop eating with the dipping sauce. Service was friendly, food came out quickly, and overall it was a relaxed and enjoyable experience before heading over to Yale Rep. Definitely reminded me why Harvest has been a longtime New Haven favorite.

Located on York Street next door to the infamous Toad's Place, Mory's occupies a house built in 1912. The main dining room features a plethora of old black-and-white photographs of Yale figureheads and classes, plus a ceiling lined with antique Yale rowing oars. Each wooden table has over 100 years' worth of people's initials (and other curiosities) carved in them, most likely made while imbibing several ales. If you're looking for ambiance, then this is your place. The food isn't bad but it's not gourmet either. Membership is required and you must be affiliated with Yale in some way (as a student, faculty member, or alum) in order to obtain membership. However, members may invite guests who are not directly affiliated with Yale, which is how I got to experience it. I enjoyed a lunch special of pomegranate and orange-glazed salmon served alongside arugula with shaved radishes and pomegranate seeds tossed in a citrus vinaigrette. It was a bit on the bland side at first, but once I sprinkled some seasoning it perked up. Again, food isn't the main attraction here. The tradition and prestige of Yale is. Mory's is, more or less, a clubhouse for Yalies. So let's go back to the ambiance from what I saw on the first floor. Besides the handsome main dining room, there is also a bar nestled inside what used to be a living room (with a fireplace) and is adorned with more Yale memorabilia. They also have an outdoor patio in nicer weather and there are several private rooms that may be rented for events. Whether history and tradition is your jam, or you're a forever Yalie, Mory's is an experience you'll want to have at least once if you have the connections.

I love their values: cultivating love as action, nurturing artistic, spiritual, and communal growth, and engaging the community to expand their boundaries and learn new skills. I attended their holiday show and dinner, By the Hearth, a bit of holiday variety show. Some people sang songs. Some people did comedy. One performer did a poignant soliloquy about losing his dad and his love of Phantom of the Opera. I really enjoyed the skit/songs featuring the two kids who were told there was no Santa. You can tell these students (some are grad students in their 30s, so don't assume these are all young college kids) are funny and talented. Even though every skit didn't land with me, I really felt the community there, and it felt like a safe place to be. I had the dinner as well. They had some basic dishes--braised beef roast (they were out, bummer), roasted garlic parm cabbage wedge with mashed potatoes, and smothered pork chop. They also have starters, such as grilled octopus, French onion soup, and mushroom toast. The mushroom toast was very good, I ate it all! They also have dessert and wines/beers/cocktails. You can order a prix fixe for a bargain as well. Dinner starts at 6:30 PM for the 8 PM show and they take orders until 7:20 PM. There are six (?) tables up front and three tall tables in the back. I started at the tall table in the back, as I arrived a little later, and it was fine, but the two rows of seats in front of those tables were also high chairs, so before the show started, I moved to the front row. I also want to say the servers and the manager was super nice and accommodating. And I loved that the actors/performers and staff were all diverse from all walks of life. Again, I enjoyed the show. It was fantastic seeing original material and you never knew what to expect from one minute to the next, and you could tell they were having fun. I compare this group to like Second City or The Groundlings. At the very end of the show, I was getting my coat and bag together to leave and I dropped my wine glass (from my wine ordered at dinner) and it shattered everywhere. One of the actors yelled, "mazel tov" and it became a natural moment in the show. They marched off the stage and the glass was cleaned up. Before the show, I told the manager that I've been to tons of shows, including some of the biggest Broadway productions, but I often find "the shows in basement are the best time." That ending mazel tov cemented my opinion about this place. Thank you, Yale Cab.

Sure, I'm not slinky enough to pull it off, but it could certainly work in theory. I've been to two shows at the Yale Cabaret, and have enjoyed myself thoroughly both times. The quality of the acting is top-notch, even at what could be an uncomfortably close distance. The space is tiny, with very limited seating, so booking tickets in advance is fairly important. The sacrifice in convenience is repaid many times over by the cozy atmosphere. There isn't a lot of fancy decor to speak of, but with the soft lights and the little round tables with high chairs, you can almost hear the air tinkle with glass and jazz and other pleasant things. The shows themselves were entertaining, though I'll admit that the odds of finding a stellar script are higher at more established, less student-run places like the Rep. The shows do seem to be shorter, which is often a plus, and really, the experience is worth your time. The venue inspires love, and that's hard to beat.
