The patio area is very pretty and set off the street so that you don't have people bugging you while you eat The brussels sprout salad was amazing as people say. Lots of truffle goodness and the risotto cake. The mushroom pappardelle was good, I got it without the chicken. The bread and butter here is also very delicious. I hadn't been to Harvest Wine Bar & Restaurant in New Haven in quite a while, so it was nice stopping back in before seeing a play at Yale Repertory Theatre. We went around 7 PM and were seated immediately without reservations, which was a pleasant surprise for a Friday evening. It wasn't quite warm enough for the patio, but the inside still had a cozy atmosphere that worked perfectly for a pre-theater bite. My cousin ordered the crab cake, and I went with the Brussels sprouts and risotto Parmesan tater tots. We were really just looking for a few appetizers before the show, but everything hit the spot. The Brussels sprouts were flavorful and paired with thick savory slices of bacon, while the risotto Parmesan tater tots were crispy, cheesy, and hard to stop eating with the dipping sauce. Went to Harvest for my mom's birthday last Thursday and actually loved it. Can't believe it was my first time there. I got the hanger steak, which I will say could've been a little hotter when served, but other than that, it was really good. The chimichurri on top was so tasty and so were the mashed potatoes. My cousin and I came here for lunch during Restaurant Week. This was our first time at Harvest and we both decided it would not be the last. They offered a three course price fix with multiple choices for the appetizer and entrees. there were enough selections to please many. I chose the Ahi Tuna tartare and fish of the day which was black bass. Both were delicious. Our server was very nice and attentive. He provided great descriptions of the dishes and helped us select a nice glass of wine to accompany our meals. The dessert of berries and cream came with a nice chocolate sauces that rounded out our meals. Our first visit to Harvest on a Sunday afternoon. The space is open, light-filled, and pleasant. The waitstaff may be overworked, but the restaurant wasn't crowded and simple things like asking to refresh drinks were overlooked. Our group of eight ordered representative items on the menu. The tuna tartare was a hit as were the house salads. The calamari was dry and tasteless. The best entrees were the salmon and the eggs Benedict. The fish of the day was almost inedible and the saffron risotto was over cooked and tasteless. Overall a mixed review and not a high incentive to return. read more

Stopped into Harvest on a whim while walking down Chapel. I've been to the West Hartford location plenty but this was my first time getting to this one. I've always thought it was a gorgeous space, particularly in the fall. Since space inside was limited, I opted to sit outside. The space heater near my table wasn't too great but thankfully I had my jacket. I only got a drink. My phone died before I could take any pics and I wish I could remember the name of my drink. It was tequila was a passion fruit purée. I definitely expected the drink to be a bit sweeter but I enjoyed it. I tried my friend's gin cocktail which I enjoyed much more and would likely get on the next return. I was craving the butternut squash ravioli because i remember how delicious it was in WeHa but since it was so cold I really didn't feel up to waiting. I'll definitely stop in again soon but I think I'll either make a res or wait a bar nearby so I can sit inside during these colder months. read more

Immediately was turned off by the staff walking to the counter where food was sitting and talking over it multiple times. I said something to the waiter and he said something to the other staff and they went back over to the counter and continued to talk to the cook. The food! Omg. Fantastic. We had oysters and tuna tartare apps as well as the duck and scallop mains. First time I've ever enjoyed Brussels sprouts. Wish the wine came by bottle rather than glass. Harvest has gone downhill. Steeply. My date and I went to Harvest for dinner during Restaurant Week and were disappointed to be served one of the worst meals I've ever paid for. The meal was sloppy, underseasoned and altogether poorly executed. We ordered the following dinner menu staples: lobster bisque, lamb lollipops, butternut squash ravioli and NY strip steak. The worst of it was arguably the atrociously undercooked steak, which still had visible white fat running through it. Picture attached. The lamb lollipops were well-cooked and tasty, but hastily strewn on a bed of waxy arugula atop a genuinely bland harissa. The lobster bisque was sloshed all over the bowl, topped with cheap truffle oil, and had a thick film that wrapped around my spoon when I went to take a bite. It also should've been labeled a seafood bisque, as it was obviously based in a seafood stock rather than a lobster broth. The butternut squash ravioli was perfectly fine, albeit underseasoned. We ordered drinks, as well, and were pleasantly surprised by my date's pisco cocktail (from the seasonal menu). It was unique, balanced and very fun! My manhattan, on the other hand, was underwhelming. It had been advertised as barrel-aged, which usually means you can expect a smooth, integrated flavor profile. Instead, the flavors felt disjointed, as if they hadn't had time to blend at all. It tasted unfinished and flat, and was served in a rocks glass full to the brim with ice, so it was very thin and watered down. I've waited two weeks to write this review to give myself some space from the disappointment I felt at shelling out over $200 for this experience... but, honestly, I'm still unhappy. read more

Super spacious but the food fell a little average for me. Free bread was fluffy and the dips were so good! One of the highlights of the meal. Of the appetizers ordered, the sliders were so juicy but needed a bit more seasoning. Perfect sizes for eating. Would order again. The grilled calamari was too vinegary/sour for me so not the biggest fan, and the pieces were so small too. Seafood pappardelle: unfortunately the pasta was on the thicker side and curled up, making it folded and even thicker to bite down. Guess they weren't paying attention to the boiling pasta! The sauce wasn't thick or flavorful enough to really coat the pasta so it was rather plain. However the seafood was plentiful and really delicious. Just too bad that the carbs itself wasn't the best. At this price point I definitely expected more. NY Strip: it was supposed to come with truffle fries but the fries were more like parmesan fries and there was nothing truffle about them! I almost never leave 1-star reviews, but this experience was truly unacceptable. We called to see if they could sit 6 people around 7:15pm, and Harvest was very accommodating when we asked to add 2 more guests. Great start, but that's where everything went downhill. After being seated, we waited about 15-20 minutes before realizing no server was ever going to come by. We had to get up and let the staff know. A server eventually came, took our drink and food orders, and then essentially disappeared. Over the next 30 minutes, she checked on us once, just to refill water. Meanwhile, we noticed guests who arrived after us already getting drinks. Another 10-15 minutes passed with nothing. I went up to the hostess to let her know we still hadn't gotten our drinks. She apologized, but when she later came by our table, she spoke to us in a rude, dismissive tone, telling us that our drinks and food were coming and that we needed to "just wait." Everyone at the table was shocked by how unprofessional that was. At this point, we had been seated for over an hour. It was nearly 8:30pm, and we had no drinks, no food, and no service except water, and then were met with rudeness when we voiced frustration. Being busy is one thing; ignoring a table for nearly an hour and then being dismissive is another. Harvest might have good food, but I'll never know. We left before anything arrived. So where do I begin . I AM DEFINITELY NEVER EVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN!!! I wasted my money during this experience and time when I could and should have went else where. The drinks were pretty good along with the server and the way the smoke drink was bright and presented. But the test is down hill. Upon arrival we asked if we can have a booth. The host or an angry bothered gentleman said we don't have booths and started getting the menus. He served annoyed and bothered at the same time. And seemed to not even want to be there his face Expression said it all. After sitting down the bus boy was nice and seemed really hard working and pleasant and so was it server. We order the fried artichokes. The artichokes were pretty good but there was no need to dress a fried artichoke with a blend and tasteless oil dressing that seemed as though it was just excess oil from the fryer. Zero flavor just added grease onto plate. I ordered the grilled calamari. They had fried on the menu but I didn't want fried one again for health reasons. So when they brought me the plate there tentacles were definitely fried but the ask the snack pieces were not but seemed to not have any grill markings at all either. And to top it off again they put that same oil on to zero flavor drenching the calamari and the whole pate including the fresh jalapeños alone with it. It was just disgusting and mouth felt great as though I ordered fried food. Then we got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were perfectly cooked but the rest of the dressing and the grits was by far the worst I've ever had in my life yet. Zero flavor, blend, pale just as is I was eating grits with flavor restrictions. And then we ordered the eggplant pasta cavotle. If the title specified eggplants it should be the main ingredient. But I'm this dish they had mini pieces of them inside and you had to fish for them. It felt as if they thought it was too expensive to put more of It inside. The tomato based sauce was good but still when you order something with it in the title you expect it in there. A great location in downtown New Haven near Yale. Harvest has the best outdoor dining in New Haven, down below street level secluded from busy roadway and sidewalk traffic. Inside it has a very trendy and cozy vibe. Have been frequenting this restaurant for a few years now and they have been pleasantly consistent with both their interesting cocktails and quality food offerings. First time I came here was just for cocktails on my birthday and knew I had to come back and try the food. There are plenty of small plate selections to choose from that suffice as either dinner or appetizers. The crispy calamari and crispy artichokes are go to favorites. There are several really good entrees on the regular menu but there are daily specials as well. The hanger steak is very delicious and so is the halibut. Most recently had the pan seared sushi grade yellowfin tuna that was amazing. The value is good for the money and I leave here feeling content. The service is attentive and plentiful. Located directly across the street from the Yale Art Gallery and nestled within the building that also houses the Yale Center for British Art (closed at the moment for upkeep), this is a lovely place to savor a delicious farm-to-table meal in an intimate setting. Go down an elevator to be taken to the hostess station. There is a large open-air stone seating terrace (with heat lamps) for use in the nicer weather, but the interior dining is equally pleasant, feeling like a modern wine cellar. While no white linens adorn the tables, there are candles and leather-padded chairs. There was also a live saxophonist while I dined here on a Thursday evening, which lent an additional layer of class to the dining ambience. Harvest supports local and organic farms and serves modern American cuisine with some hints of other cultural influences in their dishes. The food is outstanding. My companion enjoyed the tuna, which was a surprisingly large portion, while I devoured my chicken and wild mushroom pappardelle in a delicious (and filling) truffle sauce. The service is delightful. They even went across the street to their sister restaurant to obtain a validated ticket for my parking in the Crown Street Garage because they had run out. So the food was like-able lol. I want to say that they are using frozen fish because the swordfish was too chewy or maybe the cook was off. The salad was nothing special. My fiancé told the waiter his gnocchi tasted like chef boyardee but hey I didn't taste it, I don't eat meat. They felt bad and comped a dessert for him but we ate it at home and my crepes were ehhh. One of my favorite downtown New Haven restaurants! They truly have something for everyone and the atmosphere and architecture is one of a kind. You'll enter either down into the sunken outdoor patio or through the side and down an elevator and are usually greeted right away to be taken to your table. They always have some sort of specials happening and the menu changes for seasonal offerings. Whether you're just casually meeting with friends or family, going on a date, or having a business dinner, this is an awesome spot to have a sit down meal. The menu allows for you to order starters to share, a whole meal, or they also have bar seating if that's more of your vibe for the evening. I have enjoyed several delicious meals at Harvest in the past and was stoked to bring my friends, who were visiting from out of state. It had been an incredibly hot day, the sun was setting and at first we were seated outside on the comfortable patio. The first waitress we had was great - attentive, friendly and helpful. The appetizers were delicious (big props to the brussel sprouts!) . Everyone was having fun visiting with each other and enjoying their meals ..... UNTIL just as we finished our entrees..... We had to scurry inside for dessert due to a surprise thunder shower (obviously not Harvest's fault). We got relocated to an interior dim lit corner and an entirely different waitress was assigned to us. Honestly, I could not describe as attentive or friendly. The air conditioner unit was dripping droplets of condensation on two people at the table so we oddly rearranged our party of five. When The waitress' appeared a while later her response was "oh yeah, it does that when we turn off the AC". She didn't apologize or offer to reseat us elsewhere. When the desserts arrived, one of our guests was unhappy with the cobbler she ordered as it didn't match the description. She kindly shared her honest opinion and instead of being apologetic - the waitress questioned my friends expectations. Note: there are basic cobbler expectations from those in the southern part of the country. So after returning the cobbler - my lovely friends coffee finally arrived. It was not hot. It was not warm. Yet, not cold enough to be iced coffee. Once the waitress finally arrived - all she she did was offer to make a new pot of coffee. The other deserts ordered were eh. Mine was what ended up being a bowl made out of chocolate filled with cheap whipped cream out of a can and a couple strawberries with. If you really love mediocre whipped cream - this would be your favorite as it has about half a gallon in it! And in the end ....
