What a fun experience! A few girlfriends and I got together to enjoy a meal together, which happened to be on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are "Ladies' Night," featuring a $27 prix fixe menu, which was a great deal compared to the price point of 1 entree. With the ladies night special we were able to select an appetizer entree cocktail and dessert, great deal right?! I hope stays on the menu because we are definitely planning on coming back. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, neat and tidy with ornate embelishments and the staff was very welcoming! Our server, Jay, was exceptionally attentive and answered all of our questions about items on the menu, and also shared his recommendations based on what we were looking for. All four of us ended up ordering the short rib; however, we did try different appetizers, including the fig and goat cheese bruschetta, fried meatballs, roasted Brussels sprouts, and fried calamari. The serving of bruschetta was definitely a small bite, mainly because I shared it with my friends, but that appetizer alone is enough for me to come by sooner than later. I loved the combination of sweet and savory on a crisp slice of baguette! The Brussels sprouts were delicious as well, but a little too much honey for my taste. The short rib, seasonal vegetables, and mashed potatoes were enjoyable as well. I had envisioned these short ribs braised in a more caramelized wine sauce; however, it was a tomato-based sauce, so that was my only complaint. Still, it was very tender and delicious nonetheless. For dessert, selections of sorbet, gelato, or tiramisu fit the bill. I opted for the tiramisu, which disappeared very quickly. Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu, maybe for ladies' night again this week!

We felt like Italian for lunch and this beautiful wine bar was nearby. The menu is expansive with an array of fantastic options, but perhaps that's a slight downfall in flavor. The presentation or the food was nice, and the food itself was flavorful, but I do feel like there's a few small details that can be improved. The Caprese was tasty, but the mozzarella and tomatoes are cut far too thin to be considered authentic. My Brussels sprout salad came with a risotto cake on top that was perfectly cooked. The salad was good, but I would have enjoyed far less craisins and grana padano cheese rather than Parmesan to give it a bit more flavor. The eggplant Parmesan has a fairly thick breading on it but overall is tasty. If I was in the area, I'd try it again, but I don't think I'd go out of my way.

As a fan of Molto, I was extremely disappointed by their other restaurant, Matto. The vegetables in both my salad and pasta didn't appear or taste fresh. I wouldn't be surprised if the pasta veggies were frozen. That's how awful they were! The ambiance is pretty, but I can't say anything positive about my pasta primavera or salad. The drinks were just meh, which is a huge no no for a wine bar! The service was also below average. Such a disappointment!

Was surprised by my family with a birthday celebration!! We booked a 2.30 reservation hoping to enjoy a late brunch, since the menu says brunch is until 3, but enjoyed the food nonetheless, service and atmosphere! The short rib Mac and cheese was amazing, the mozzarella sticks perfection and my lobster ravioli were definitely my faves! Great martini espresso too!!

This was my first time here and I really enjoyed myself! Two of my friends and I came here to celebrate my friend. Camryn was our server and she was very nice, checked in on us frequently (not in an overbearing way), I actually gave her two options of apps I wanted I told her to surprise me! The food was good I really enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and the short rib risotto! I tried the filet tips I honestly wasn't a big fan. The margarita was a little too sweet but overall it was a good experience and I would come back and try other options. The decor inside is really cute too!

Food is always delicious. Went back during a power outage last week and the staff was very accommodating letting us charge our phones and hang out for drinks after dessert. My wife and I love this place.

A great lunch spot for a salad and an app! There was plenty of seating and our waitress was fantastic. They have amazing staff no matter what day or time we come. We sat at the booth by the bar and kept it light with salads and arancini. The Caesar salad was great but the steak tasted extremely charred. It was perfectly cooked and so tender but it was hard to finish when it tasted like charcoal.

Matto Wine Bar is a lovely Italian restaurant located on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton! I went there for lunch with friends. Everyone loved the fancy decor (specially the red scooter at the entrance) and the elegant look of the interior. It's done in a very good taste. We started with "Matto" (Limoncello, Bombay Dry Gin, Elderflower Liqueur, Rosemary Simple) for drinks. It was very refreshing and everyone loved it. The bread with olive oil, served at the beginning was warm and fresh. For lunch we ordered Fried meatballs, Shrimp and grits, Roasted salmon and Branzino oreganata. Everything was simply delicious! We talked and we ate and we enjoyed ourselves! We were there for a long time! No one rushed us. We ended the delicious meal with chocolate cake and cappuccino. I am definitely going back to try more of their delicious food!! They have outdoor seating with ample of parking.

Came here for a late lunch for Mother's Day. Place was packed and chaotic in the front. The decor and ambiance of this place as well as the service was A+. The food here on the other hand was awful. The fried mozz and bread was good. Fried calamari over cooked or old oil. I ordered the spicy shrimp and the shrimp were good, but let me tell you how much garlic was on the spinach.... And I love garlic. It was soooo much it made the rest of the dish inedible. My mom ordered veal and said it was tough and like pot roast. My fiancé and Dad ordered pizzas and said they tasted like frozen pizza crust. The only person in my party who liked their meal was my fiancés mother who liked her chicken dish. I don't think we will ever come back.

Tuesday is Ladies Night! We tried the Grand Fixe menu which includes an appetizer, main course, a dessert and a drink for $27. Great deal and the food was delicious. The fettuccine scarparpiello was delicious, it's not a very heavy dish which was great. The chicken francese is also very tasty although a tad bit too lemony. Ambiance is nice, open kitchen area, nice lighting & cool red tiles on the wall of the bar. Great service. Perfect for happy hour or ladies night special menu.

Every so often you come across an associate that you wish you hired for your own company or perhaps you were; Gia killed it tonight. Confident, hospitable and professional. I was extremely impressed by her demeanor keeping in mind that I am also a woman in the hospitality industry (even though I'm a designer but I work with high end clientele) Dining solo I was people watching and couldn't help but notice her extremely confident energy as she approached every single table (including mine) and advised everyone of the menu details and the specials of the night; i.e. confirming half off wine bottles on Mondays. I was extremely impressed by not only her but by the entire staff and the food. I look forward to visiting again and bringing my entire family with me. Later on when I raved about her on my out, front desk told me she was much younger than me. Way younger....:-/ I wish I looked as confident as she did at her age. Keep it up girl. You're going places. Xx Do try calamari Do try their amazing salads Do try their pasta dishes Do try their amazing wine menu Parking super easy in front

    Linguine Carbonara

I stumbled upon this place with a friend recently. Very clean and posh interior and the staff that took my takeout order was very nice. I very much liked my pesto gnocchi; all the flavors worked well with each other and it was a very savory, rich dish. The linguine carbonara was okay, but the addition of mushrooms imo didn't lend well to the flavors that people come to expect from a traditional carbonara. Also, instead of an egg cream, they used dairy cream for the sauce and just put a fried egg on top. The gnocchi was much better. Still, overall this place is pretty good.

Keep in mind that there is a "Jones Family Farm Pumpkinseed Hill" at 120 Beardsley Rd., and then the "Jones Valley Farm/Jones Winery" at 606 Walnut Tree Rd. My GPS accidentally took me to the Pumpkinseed Farm at first, but it wasn't a big deal because the winery is just a few minutes away. Once I was in the right place, a staff member greeted me and gave me the wine/food menu. They have a lot of different areas to sit, including a patio with tables/umbrellas (where they had live music playing), a pavilion with tables underneath, an upper patio that was covered by a pergola with leaves/vines on top, and an inside bar area with seating. The inside bar area has garage doors that were open, leading out to the upper patio. Even though it was a hot day, I sat under the pergola and it was surprisingly cool underneath! After sitting down, a staff member quickly came over and took my drink/food order. I tried a glass of the Sunshine White, which was delicious! It was on the sweeter side though. Keep in mind that they only sell wine by the glass on the menu, but they do have a store where you can buy bottles to go. I also ordered the Simply Cheese Plate, which came with sharp cheddar cheese, Jones Berry Chutney, and sea salt crackers. This was excellent! They also do have a "Light Fare" menu with things like a hummus plate, cheesecake, popcorn, etc. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. They had a "Bouquet Bar" set up where you could buy fresh cut flowers, as well as a small gift shop. Overall a very cool winery in Shelton, I would definitely recommend!
