Our family has been going to this restaurant for over 25 years. After we got there, we ordered cocktails. They took over a half hour. The waiter said I forgot. Then we ordered our meals. An hour later we got our meals. Other tables that sat after us had come and gone. We ordered nothing special. If you like sausage jerky, this is the place to go not only wasn't very dry and overcooked, but the meal was cold. Along with the shrimp appetizer, we got that was also cold. The third meal of the three was brought at least five minutes after the first two were served. And it was only soup. There was only one waiter and he wasn't fit to work at a diner. After speaking to the owner, "the Cook" as he called himself. he made up several excuses. This is the third time we tried it, and they severely failed again. Excellent experience with the new La Scogliare. I order the chicken cacciatore and it was plentiful and tasty allowing for a generous meal for the next day. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The chef made my favorite meal even though it wasn't on the menu. It is warm a cozy and in a quiet shopping center with plenty of parking. I was craving some homemade Italian dishes and this was a GREAT pick. Not only were we greeted upon arriving but sat immediately, served water and bread. Warm loaf of bread with packets of butter. They had some great specials on the menu but I had my heart set on zuppa di pesce in a red sauce. I didn't have to add anything and enjoyed the bread with my dish. Served super fast, hot and tasty. Of course we took a look at the dessert menu as it's homemade. Picked out the Nutella mascarpone pie and we didn't even get a picture! Devoured it in seconds. Left hungry! After reading many reviews for this restaurant, my husband and son were very disappointed to leave hungry. They consistently order Chicken Marsala at Italian restaurants and the portion size at La Scogliera appeared to be a child's portion. The meal itself was delicious, but the size of the meal for $28 certainly felt unbalanced. The staff was attentive, the atmosphere was fine. I ordered Zuppa Di Pesce, both the flavor and portion were fantastic. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, but don't feel we need to come back. read more

Can't tell you how magical our evening was at this Truly authentic Italian hideaway. We were greeted by the owner who provided a beautiful dining event that was love at every bite. It started with our appetizer. We asked for a $25 sample appetizer and received 2 platters, 1 cold with peppers artichoke provolone soppressata olives and then a hot platter with stuffed mushrooms calamari classic stuffed and casino stuffed shrimp and eggplant rolletini Exquisite!! It was so much fun. Our host had us wait a moment before ordering our main courses. Lobster with oil and garlic yum, veal marsala, and delmonico steak. We ate it ALL. Then we asked him to order our desert and it was so amazing we ate that as well. We left fully satisfied but not over stuffed. The food was fresh and amazing. Have lived in the area for years and just now came across this little Italian eatery. I can't believe we have never been here. We are always looking for the authentic family owned little restaurants as they always seem to be the best. This place is truly a hidden gem. A bit sticker-shocked at the prices compared to other Italian restaurants in the area but we figured it has to be good with large portions. Along with the main menu was a specials list. Not only were there written specials but our waitress rambled on another 5-6 more specials and each and every one of them sounded divine. The clams casino appetizer was fantastic. Clams were nice size, not overwhelmed with spices and extra's. Just simple wine broth, with slice of bacon. Nice size littlenecks so flavorful and fresh whereas other places, the clams usually shrink to a tiny piece you cant even taste. My fusilli dish with sausage and sundried tomatoes with pancetta in a vodka sauce was outstanding! There was plenty enough to take home for lunch the next day. Husband loved his veal parm and was a nice size piece. The fusilli is not on main menu and dinners do not come with a salad like we are used to. Pasta however was clearly made from scratch, something you don't get too often around here. We will come here again for special occasions and bring large groups. We went to this restaurant this past Saturday night and wow, it made my week! I'll start with the service. The waitress was super nice and gave us amazing recommendations. Ask for the Daniele Special! She was very outgoing and gave us the history behind the family-owned restaurant. She definitely added to overall experience. The ambiance was great too. A lot of the guests are very loyal to this restaurant, so you know you're at a great, local Italian spot. Everyone was friendly, talkative, and on a first-name basis. We struck up a convo with an awesome couple who has been coming to restaurant for 40 years! They were so sweet and had amazing stories/recommendations. They even bought our bottle of wine; that almost made us tear up! Finally, the food is delicious. The menu has a wide variety of options, but Daniele let us know that we can mix/match any combinations to our liking. We had the veal over gnocchi with vodka sauce (Daniele special) and eggplant cooked in two different ways (one smothered with cheese and one without) over pasta. Both these dishes were off-menu and we were very happy with the risk. For desert, we had the tiramisu and the pistachio cake. All the portions were huge so remember to bring an appetite. The entrees were both great; I can't choose a favorite. The deserts put us right into a food coma but it was so worth it. We had to pack leftovers because of how generous they are. The food was almost unbelievably bland- even the bread served before our appetizer was reminiscent of packing peanuts. The stuffed mushrooms were greasy and soggy, and the chicken special of the night was completely lacking in flavor. The risotto it was served over was also disappointing. Halfway through the meal, I thought I was coming down with Covid- after all, what else could explain the complete lack of taste? After generously salting, peppering, and praying- I got through it. Worst dinner experience I ever had! Wish I could give 0 stars. Had reservations for 6:30 to celebrate a birthday. At 8:20, we asked how much longer on our meals. The owner came out and told us that waiting 2 hours for our food was normal because it was just that good and we need to wait 2 hours on average for his food. My $26 meal consisted of 5 shrimp with canned mushrooms and a side of bland pasta. The owner's attitude was disgusting and I'm embarrassed for his employees. Our waiter and host apologized for the owner and said they felt embarrassed as well. I've been a waitress for 20 years now and counting, and this is this 1st review I ever left online. Another couple stopped us and said that this place should be embarrassed for how long it takes to receive food. BTW they came after us, ate, and left before we ever got food. read more

First time visiting here. Hidden in a strip mall next to a self storage place and the lol giggling pig. Sat in the bar area and ordered. Service was great. We ordered "off the menu" the shrimp and cavatelle was unbelievable. The best rendition of this dish I have ever had. Fettuccini Alfredo came. Homemade pasta with a perfect plans of cream Parmesan and egg yolk. Portions are large so be prepared to share. Martinis are old school in a real glass and made exceptionally well. We had no room for dessert lol. Also, if you are an escargot fan try it here. Perfect sauce, firm and succulent escargot and enough bread for dipping. The pasta was perfectly cooked and also had an well portioned amount of sauce. My food was ready as soon as I got there which was incredible as I called on the way. I almost have no words to put into the description of what poor service we had at this establishment. Not to mention poor food. As a long time customer our meals came out totally wrong, and when we attempted to have it rectified we were actually yelled at by the waitress who told us not to make a scene meanwhile, she was the one making a scene. when someone asks for a grilled chicken salad and you come out with fried chicken clearly it's wrong when somebody is spending a lot of money on a veal dish and it comes out ice cold clearly it is wrong when somebody else orders dinner with a side of linguine and that comes out about an hour and a half too late after the meal is done sitting in a bowl of water mixed with sauce. It is a problem. We asked to speak with a manager and we're blatantly ignored by this rude waitress with long, dark hair. She is a miserable human being, and has absolutely no business working in a restaurant where customer service should be at the forefront. My friends nor myself will step foot in here again. Between the food and that one's attitude who needs it. There are plenty of restaurants that would love to accept our money when we go out. No one needs this that is for sure. read more

This is a wonderful restaurant. Family owned and run, with incredible authentic Italian food. There is so much to choose from on the menu and they have a variety of specials as well. I loved the Stuffed Meatball appetizer and the Stuffed Figs appetizer. I also tried the Fried Calamari which was very nice, it was not greasy at all so I liked it very much. My main course was the homemade Gnocchi with meat sauce- it was absolutely delicious! I also tried my boyfriends Zuppa de Pesce which was a huge portion, it is served over linguini and you can choose to have it spicy or not. The amount of seafood was incredible and it was so good! Hands down best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at. This place is authentic in every detail. The antipasto is crave-worthy with fresh authentic meats and cheeses. The pasta is made from scratch and is perfectly cooked. The chicken Milanese is pounded paper thin and delightfully fried to perfection.
