Had dinner tonight here for the first time and wow! Impeccable service, beautiful space, incredible balanced and delicious dishes. They were out of the special we had chosen but I am not surprised people would jump on the specials based on how good everything we had was. (They gave us a dessert as an apology which was thoughtful) We were NOT disappointed with what we chose instead however. The Veal chop was so tender, with just the right hint of truffle, a tang of acidity, a perfect crust and sear, outstanding! The octopus appetizer was melt in your mouth, a char on the onions made it pop. The manager (owner?) Was circling and talking to tables, really felt like the host of a diner party and took great care to make sure everything was perfect and that you felt like truly welcomed. You dont see that as much these days and it made the experience feel so personal. Our waiter was kind, attentive, even funny without being overbearing or pretentious. Overall a perfect evening. Will be back, again and again thank you! read more

This is a great Italian restaurant off the main strip. Drinks are reasonably priced and the red wine selection is extensive and not too expensive. I ordered the special "surf and turf " with filet mignon and lobster and the beef was awesome, the lobster a bit miserly . The regular menu is extensive and diverse, so I will definitely come back and try some of these wonderful dishes. read more

Stopped in for lunch and I really enjoyed the restaurant. We started off with a Portuguese Chorizo which was served over flaming aguardiente. It was really good. For my entree I had the double cut veal chop which was cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had the caldo verde which she really enjoyed. Our son had the short rib which he loved. The food was really tasty and flavorful. We had excellent service. The wait staff was really good in regard to explaining the menu and giving us suggestions. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. read more

We were a group of 8 and they sat us in the private room. We ordered appetizers, drinks, entrees and desert. The food was delicious! The service was a good. For some reason they kept having different servers though and when we asked the one guy who kept taking over for something, he said to ask our waiter instead. Maybe our waiter was still being trained, I am not sure. read more

We were in town for a family gathering. This is the place they picked for dinner. The service was good and has a lively atmosphere. We shared quite a few appetizers: Homemade Meatballs, Bang Bang Shrimp,, Eggplant Rollatini, and Roasted Brussels Sprouts. All were excellent. For entrees: Flames Octopus, Chicken Parmigiana, Pork Chop, Rigatoni in Pink (added chicken). Everyone was very satisfied with their choices. read more

The food is questionable. The fried calamari tasted good but when my entree came out the mashed potatoes tasted like rubber gloves. I tasted my friends mashed potatoes and theirs tasted normal so I have no idea what they did to mine when preparing it. It tasted like plastic and rubber gloves. The veal tasted good but they contaminate their food with random stuff. My father finished his water before realizing the reason it tasted so odd was because there was probably soap left in the glass. Don't get poisoned. I feel sick now from their food. Now they're getting only 1 star because someone is trying to harass and threaten me over this review. I went to this location in Monroe Connecticut for Easter and I was at this restaurant location. read more

Stopped in for a night out. Everything was wonderful. The staff is attentive and friendly. Management stopped by the table a few times to check on everything. It is a comfortable atmosphere. We will certainly be back. read more

We came here for a girls' dinner -- a group of about 10 of us -- and had a lovely time. We were seated in the back room, which was nice and private. My cousin added her own decorations since it was a secret special occasion for her, and the space worked out perfectly for that. The service was solid, and the restaurant itself is very clean -- definitely appreciated that. For my entrée, I ordered the New York Strip Pizzaiola: grilled steak with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and a Barolo wine sauce, served with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were really good, but I wasn't a fan of the Barolo wine sauce -- it just wasn't to my taste. The dish was okay overall, but I'd definitely come back and try something else on the menu. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée -- and it was absolutely delicious! Perfectly creamy with that crisp, caramelized top. A sweet ending to the night. read more

Exceeded our expectations! food was great, service was great. Our waiter was really nice. My escargot was great as was the Veal Parm special

This is my second time here; we came with another couple a few weeks ago and loved it. Had to come back. The food was great, again. I've tasted 6 of the entrées and 6 of the apps and every one of them was very good to great! We ate in a different section from the fist visit and we enjoyed that there was separate areas, not just on large dining area. One of the big things that I like about this place is that the owner combs the dining areas, checking each table and each patron to see that everything is going right and helping out the buss service. Our waitress was professional and on point. The hostess was delightfully friendly and welcoming. read more

Went for my birthday and the drinks were amazing. Tiramisu martini was delicious. Wife had Caesar salad and Lobster Ravioli. I had Veal Florentine and Tartufo for dessert with cappuccino. Service impeccable by everyone. The ambiance is wonderful as we had been there before as the Mexican restaurant. Parking easy and noise level just enough. Will be back read more

My first time. Outstanding food add service. Clams casino, zucchini flowers, bang-bang shrimp, short ribs and Lobster were all fresh & delicious. Our server Brian and the manager Mike were super friendly. I will definitely be back!! read more

Nice place with a cozy atmosphere. Server was prompt though it seemed like she was afraid to i to interrupt our party and overcompensated and doing so. Our food was well made, though I would like the portions to be a little larger at this price point. The homemade lemon cello was phenomenal and I would recommend it if you're interested. read more

We were visiting friends in Danbury and wanted a special place to take them for our last evening together. They had always wanted to try this restaurant, so we decided to go--and we're so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, the owner greeted us warmly and personally showed us to our table. The space struck a perfect balance--spacious yet intimate. He took time to chat with us, asking about the occasion and what we might enjoy. When I asked for his recommendation, he turned it back to us, saying it depended on our own tastes. That was refreshing, and it immediately created a sense of trust. We started with salads and then ordered four different entrées, each one prepared perfectly. Somehow, we made room for dessert, which was just as memorable. After we paid the check, the owner surprised us by gifting two bottles of Sambuca to take home, knowing how much we enjoyed it with our meal. This restaurant is truly a gem, just a short hop from Danbury. Highly recommended! --Mike Ross read more

Very, very, very good food the dessert was unbelievable. It was some kind of a custard. I recommend 100% to go there.

Food was great, good date night spot! Service was very good and we didn't break the bank there.

Overpriced restaurant. Food was good, but I don't think I will return. Feel had the appearance of fine dining, but the quality just didn't match the price. Good place for a work get-together... But but good for family dining. read more

Very nice local restaurant. The pasta dish was very good and not too heavy. It was a good portion to finish or take a little home. Drinks and coffee were also good. I went to this restaurant for a private activity with family. The entre options included a range to satisfy a crowd. I ordered a chicken martini and a passion fruit mojito which were both were delicious. Chicken was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked. It was tender and the white wine sauce complemented very well with the mashed potatoes and spinach sides. It was simply delicious. I am curious to try other options from the menu. The owner himself was working tables, the bar and directing his staff diligently which tells you a lot about the quality and details that are put into service. My daughter ordered the penne vodka pasta and described it as delicious, and wholesome. She said the flavors complimented each other perfectly. Totally recommend this place! read more

I would have given in a 5 star but the baked clams were horrible. It was fishy and all breadcrumbs no taste. Now the steak which was recommended by my server Kevin was amazing. My family and I went in a couple of weeks ago based on a recommendation from friends of ours. It's their favorite place and now is ours. It is a new Italian restaurant from experienced owners and does not disappoint. The food was fantastic from the pasta to the meat dishes to the fish. We all had different meals and passed the around to test as they were so good. I'll add the descriptions to pictures that I will attached. Service is 5 stars! We will be returning soon. read more

This place is 10 out of 10. The food and service were impeccable. They had interesting specials, apps and entrees (we skipped dessert...too full, but I would bet that was great too). Service was friendly and attentive but not too attentive. Everything we had - drinks, wine, apps, entrees were perfectly prepared. This is how it should be but too often isn't at restaurants. Well run, excellent wait staff and chef. Go there! read more

The food and ambiance are wonderful - IF you're one of the "favorites". I had a dinner here with another couple who knew the owner (or manager) well, and he was friendly and very attentive. Tonight I went again with my girlfriends, and the experience was entirely different. The owner/manager waited on us and was rude, unfriendly and impatient. He never smiled and rushed us through our meal, even sending waiters to clear the table while we were still eating. The final straw was we had just finished paying and were finishing our drinks, when standing right next to our table, yelled over us to another couple and said "just one more minute while we clear the table". It was our table he was talking about. How very rude. With so many great restaurants in the area, there's no reason to return here. read more

Make a reservation ahead of time! This place was packed without a seat remaining on a Saturday night. However busy, they did not lack in service, they were very attentive to our needs and our server was always there. The owner even made it over to our table and greeted us. The food was yummy. We tried the Portuguese kale soup bc we wanted to compare it to our "homemade Portuguese soup " and we were not disappointed. The soup was creamy with lots of shredded fine cabbage as it should be - perfect. We will definitely be back again. The place is pretty big, but yet has a warmth feeling. Give it a try. read more

New place in Monroe. Replaced a tavern of some sorts that in all candor I never went to ENTRANCE - it was a late lunch so not busy but the hostess was pleasant and gave us a booth, please note there are tables with elegant settings with white table cloths. When ur and closer to the bar standard pub and grub tables with. I cloth settings. PARKING - I should mention that this location has parking but in a crunch there may not be availability but I could be wrong here. SERVICE - atypical but the owner was our waiter and he was the best of the best. Actually from Montenegro with great stories. That being said the owner couldn't be any better - not sure an employee could do better. MENU - interesting but not very extensive. Note that if you come for lunch there r a few dishes that have a lunch & dinner option APPETIZERS - I had the grilled octopus that was fabulous a 5 star for me. Wife had the ricotta meat that were good ENTREES - for those interested in gluten free, any pasta can be substituted for gluten-free penne. A nice touch I had the double cut veal chop. Ask for medium as the closer to the bone you get medium rare. For the price the serving size was on the small side. For example at Biagios the double cut was larger for a bit less in price. My wife had the Bronzino which I was told was very good. Overall the entrees scored 3 and a half for me. DESSERTS. - my wife had the lava cake and raved about it. I had a double expresso and the recommendation for black sambucca was a very interesting alternative that the owner made with white sambucca that he doctored and it was great. Also he let me try on the house but don't necessarily expect that PRICES- I would give it a $$$$ given portion sizes etc. read more

Food is awesome and they handled my small group with care. Really old world style restaurant service.

Been to this location before when it was a bar/grill. Flames has a nice setup going. Tables were perfect down to the proper placing of silverware.... Made you feel like it one of those old NYC places. Service was good, I honestly can't tell you the last time I've had so many different people come to the table to see if we needed anything. All in all the food was good. I wish I had a picture of the meatballs. That was really the only thing our party of 4 didn't like. I'd go back but that is one thing I would not recommend. Drinks... great. The Martinis were excellent also $$$. Apps: minus the Meatballs they were good. Main Course: I had the Filet Mignonette Au Poivre. Very taste and cooked to perfection. One of my friends had the Pappardelle Bolognese, it was ok but seemed a little bland. Deserts: A++ all of us tried something different and all were excellent. Overall a nice experience. We would definitely come back if we were in the area. read more

My fiancé and I took some friends to dinner at Flames in Monroe for our second visit. The first time, we had an excellent experience with a friendly and attentive waiter in the bar area, which left such a positive impression that we decided to return and bring friends along. Unfortunately, our second visit was disappointing. This time, we were seated in the larger dining area past the bar and were served by the owner. The experience felt rushed and lacked warmth. When I asked for more time to look over the menu, his response was, "I know you just sat down. I watched when you came in," which felt unnecessarily curt. He also made other passive remarks that added to the discomfort. I initially thought he might be having an off day, but I noticed he was friendly and relaxed with the table next to us. However, his demeanor shifted when he approached our table--he seemed tense and uninterested, despite my attempts to engage him in conversation. It became very obvious that he didn't care for our kind to be at his restaurant. It was disappointing because I had spoken highly of this restaurant to my friends. On the bright side, the food was great, and the other servers were friendly. Despite the poor service, we still tipped generously to make a point. read more
