We've enjoyed checking out their monthly pizza specials as sometimes they come out with bangers that are only around for a few but we had never gone inside to seat for their other Italian fare. After a crappy day of work and life we decided to treat ourselves and the restaurant did what it was supposed to do, end our day on a great note. We had their special rigatoni with sausage and mushrooms and it was plate-lickin' good. The chicken parm was also well-liked by my mom and all the desserts: cannoli, tartufo and tiramisu were delicious. Oh, and our toddler was stuffing his face with his mini-cheese pizza, the perfect size of slices for him to hold and devour. A fantastic trip, well above the norm, and now this is a repeat consideration for both takeout pizza and in-dining. Jennie's was able to successfully plate & serve without issue or delay many salads & dinners to a large semi-chaotic group on a recent Sunday. The bartender doubled as a server & was kept pretty busy working both the dining room & the separate bar. Food came out hot & in generous portions. For a red sauce joint their regular red sauce could only be described as a heavy on the tomato paste with a slightly bitter & sweet at the same time profile. It over dressed a decently fried & fresh eggplant parm. The scrod dinner was properly executed but its slightly strong smell was off putting. It was cooked perfectly, tender, and the sauce was delicious. My husband and son ordered a large pie with everything. They said it was good. I ordered a small Margherita pie. I anticipated a small pie with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil. What I got was a thin crust with slices of tomato. There was practically no cheese, a few specks of basil, no sauce and way too much garlic. The staff was very accommodating and gave me a side of sauce when I requested it. Their sauce is very good. horrible service for we sat for a half hour as we waited for our friends to join us without drinks. We asked for happy hour and they said bar only. Bar was fully packed. We let them know we were dinning with a party of 5 as we waited for our friends to join us and wanted some drinks mean while. We had pizza as an appetizer which was super tasty they have their own pizza oven so the crust was nice and crispy and the ingredients were very fresh and flavorful. The seafood dishes we had were amazing ( the pasta Luciano had calamari with olives and fresh garlic and artichokes which made an amazing sauce and the clams and mussels were super fresh and went perfectly with the fresh spicy fra Diablo sauce) The veal Picata was a bit touch but the sauce was very flavorful. Fabulous fabulous fabulous! Great local Italian restaurant. Located in a strip mall so easy to park. Casual attire, family friendly, however, it's small and one open room so can be loud. The food is great we had the pasta with seafood and veal piccata both great and large portions came with either a soup or salad side too. It was a hot day and members of the Masuk Football Team were working hard in the hot sun at their annual car wash. I came with 5 friends for a nice dinner. The food was good, not great though, The portions are huge - if that's your jam - everyone took food home. The big complaint is the noise level. Beats me why restaurants wouldn't want the customers to be able to enjoy each others company and converse. I'll be back but probably only at an off hour. My husband and I had the hot oil pizza. Super spicy but great overall texture and taste. All the dressings are homemade, chefs kiss. We sat at bar and the drinks service were fantastic as well. 3.5 stars. I am amazed there are not more reviews. Jenny's has been around a long time. And their food is tasty. So My dad absolutely loves Jennies. I find that some of their menu items are better than others. I first started going to Jennies when they were in Bridgeport. Then they moved to Monroe and I followed them. LOL. In terms of what I like about them, I like the fact that they have a dining room now because for a while they were just to go. The dining room is small but nice with a warm and inviting atmosphere. They are also located in a plaza so..plenty of parking! I think they make an utterly delicious chicken franchise which is one of my favorite dishes and what I had last time I ate here. That is a tough dish to make and Jenny prepared it extremely well and it was quite tasty. My dad had Pasta (see yummy pics). And I've had their wings which are also yummy. We once had them cater a Super Bowl party and had a field day happily munching on their deliciously prepared chicken wings. Honestly the only thing I don't like here is their pizza. For some reason I haven't taken to the tomato sauce they use to make the pizza. I've had their pizza through the years and I liked it better in the early days. I'm not one who likes a lot of tomato sauce and I feel that the taste of the tomato sauce obscures the taste of the pizza in general. I'm still a customer there and think most people would like the pizza. I am picky about pizza in general (and everything else) and do not like alot of sauce on mine but otherwise it's fine. So I just get other things rather than pizza. But I would recommend them. In general they're pretty cool especially for Super Bowl parties. read more

I'm from New Haven so I'm a bit of a pizza "snob". Since Jennie's is local to me (as are several other pizza places) it is my top choice.

I want to love this place. It is solid, good food, and nice ambiance. The waitstaff is attentive and lovely! The place is homey with an option to grow into something special. They will grow and the little things like an overdone steak or a bartender redoing a drink (last time I was here) will pass. I wish this place great luck! read more

Went here on a Sunday after running a few errands in the Bridgeport area and cutting through back roads, decided to rely on my old faithful yelp for a pizza place. Jennie's was very appealing to me because of its age-right off the bat, very reminiscent of Sally's and Modern with the sole exception of not being coal-fired. Tried a large cheese pie, half sausage and their four cheese pie which consisted of fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh basil, fresh garlic, ricotta, Romano, mozz and pecorino. Staff is very cordial and accommodating. Pies came out and they looked good-they claim to be similar to new haven pizza but in reality we found them to be more like New York pizza-thicket in the crust, cheap on the sauce and heavy in the cheese. Crust is good BUT I strongly do not recommend to ask it for crispier as it will dry out the crust and definitely proved not to reheat well. The four cheese pizza I very much enjoyed-the crust worked well in terms of thickness to accommodate for the heavily topped pizza and the flavor was bursting. Definitely need to come back again and give this place a second chance and definitely ask for extra sauce on the regular cheese pie and NOT extra crispy. These ovens cook far differently than coal fired so crispier comes out dryer. Will definitely come back when in da hood! read more

Don't love their pizza (I grew up eating Greek pizza and just can't make the transition to all that cracker-like charred crust) - but it's more or less around the corner from our house so we get dinner entrees to go not infrequently. My wife and I went to Jennie's for the first time last Saturday with some great friends of ours. We had heard good things so we wanted to try them out. It was a busy night. The service was slow, we waited quite awhile between appetizers and our entrees, and when my ravioli finally came out they were not meat, like I ordered, but cheese, which I cannot eat. You know what? It almost didn't matter. The wait staff and management were FANTASTIC, apologized profusely and were attentive to all of our needs. Management made things right, and, even though I had to take my meat ravioli "to go" they were amazing. Jennie's staff's service recovery was awesome and I am very grateful. EXTRA SPECIAL shout out to our server, Alicia, who was apologetic, caring, warm, concerned and funny. She totally helped turn our experience around. We will definitely be going back! read more

What happened to this place?? I was here 4 years ago and the food was OK. Not great, but good. Last week, the food took way too long to come out. Dinner was brought to the table one plate at a time, with significant wait time in between. There were 5 of us. My friend finished her dinner and I hadn't even been served yet! Fried calamari was soggy, not crisp. Looked and tasted as if it were previously fried, then sat around, then re-heated in a microwave. Inedible. Mussels were a little rubbery and smelled fishy. Mac and cheese was runny, like they used way too muck milk and hardly any cheese. Chicken tenders were like the calamari, with a bottle of Tabasco poured over them. The people at the next table could smell it. I must say the wait staff were polite, and kept apologizing about the long wait times and poor quality of the food. I won't be back, nor can I recommend it to anyone. read more
