I have been here a couple of times and enjoyed the experience. The service is great even when the place is busy. The seaside decor and outside patio provides a backdrop for a fresh seafood experience. Oysters from the raw bar were perfectly opened. I also tried the short rib and Swiss grilled cheese sandwich for lunch with duck fat potatoes which was delicious. They have a few beers on tap including their own Anchor lager brewed for them by Dudleytown Brewery. read more

Saturday late afternoon/early evening at Anchor Social is fast becoming Milford's newest hot spot, with a large patio area available for private parties with an full service bar. Once inside, the restaurant space just opens up with tables, chairs and booths in the dining room. On the other side is the large bar with more seating, just amazing how big this place is?? Our waitress was the lovely Nicole, who is so sweet, and personable. She has been my waitress on previous visits ! I ordered the Fish and Chips dinner with a Counterweight Headway Draft. We (my sisters and I) had a wonderful time and their meals were equally delicious and satisfying. read more

Food not vey good. Tried 3 times and disappointed every time. Service ok, ambiance so so.

The appetizers were amazing. Good portions and very delicious! The main dinners were OK. The food was good, but the prices were high for the portions. Atmosphere and service were extra friendly. I would recommend for apps and drinks! read more

Had a burger with lots of toppings. Asked for med rare. Got well done. Seemed a bit pricey for the area, but I suppose 19$ for a burger may be "reasonable today ??? Patio was nice as it is covered Server was preoccupied with big group and took a long time to receive food. I blame manager as the other servers were not very occupied. read more

Anchors aweigh! If you're looking for a fresh catch in Milford, Anchor Social is the place to drop your anchor and enjoy a delightful culinary voyage. Nestled at 141 Merwin Avenue, this charming new restaurant has transformed the old Village Bistro into a sun-soaked haven that feels like you've just strolled off the beach and into a nautical paradise. With its pickled walls, light wood accents, and airy ambiance, you'll feel like you're continuing your seaside day, even if you're just sipping cocktails instead of splashing in the surf. We sailed in on a lovely Thursday after a full day, and the moment we walked through the door, the inviting decor whisked us away to a beachy retreat. The spacious bar area welcomed us with the promise of refreshing drinks--happy hour was in full swing! I couldn't resist a glass of Josh red, while my better half savored a crisp Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio, both at prices that made our wallets feel as light as a seagull in flight. For our first course, we tried the calamari with cherry pepper marinara. While the sauce was delightful and zesty, the calamari pieces were cut a tad too small for my liking, making them feel a bit lost in the batter. But hey, the marinara was a tasty lifebuoy in a sea of flavors! Next up was the signature Anchor Salad, a colorful medley of mixed greens, candy walnuts, and feta, topped with perfectly cooked salmon which we decided as an add on. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Although the candy walnuts could have been a bit chunkier for that satisfying crunch, the pomegranate vinaigrette added a lovely tang to the dish but a bit on the oily side. Our culinary adventure continued with clams casino that boasted a great presentation and flavor, though they were more tepid than hot--like a beach day that's just a bit too breezy. However, the roasted oysters stole the show; they were scrumptious and definitely worth diving into! Overall, the service was smooth sailing, with our server being knowledgeable and engaging. The only hiccup was the promised customer survey that never made it to our table--perhaps it got lost at sea? But instead, here's my review in lieu of that survey. Anchor Social is a fantastic addition to the Woodmont dining scene, and while they have a few kinks to work out, I'm confident that with time, this spot will become a go-to destination for seafood lovers and beachgoers alike. So grab your flip-flops and set sail for a delicious meal at Anchor Social! I will definitely be back for a second visit. read more

Great addition to the neighborhood. For the most part we've really enjoyed the food, and service has been great with an owner that clearly cares. The only misses have been the brunch, which was pretty lackluster, and some of the pricing seems a little steep for what you get. For example, quite like the salmon they do, but not for nearly $40. If the pricing was a little more competitive, we'd go more often. read more

Very relaxed restaurant, first visit on a Tuesday. The Tuesday tacos were great and the hot lobster roll was loaded with meat, not saturated in butter and roll toasted perfectly. Fries excellent. The menu margarita and the old fashion were so good, had to have a seconds! My friend got the clams casino, and the chicken bacon avocado but was delicious. Will definitely go back to try other menu items. Staff very welcoming. read more

This just opened. It feels much more light and airy than it was before. Friendly and welcoming staff made us feel very comfortable. Kim took care of us in the bar area and cheerfully explained the menu. We had the wings and the chicken caprese sandwich and two drinks. Everything was great! read more

Nice people, staff was fine... but everything else? Just 'off.' As in when I tried the Carbonara Deviled Eggs... I couldn't decide if they were actually "good." I mean, it wasn't unpleasant, but it also wasn't exactly tasty. About the same for the Calamari with Cherry Peppers - everything fried within an inch of its life, no real seasoning to speak of and the flavor was just off. In fact, everything was off - even the rigatoni, which sounded amazing, but sadly... disappointed. The prosciutto bits didn't taste like prosciutto unless you nibbled them on their own. The sauce? Lacked salt and seasoning... and really? Registered more of a sausage flavor. Again, not unpleasant, but just not 'right.' It felt like this was a place that had just opened and had a sub-in chef (like the main person called out sick). Every single thing we ordered missed the mark - and it wasn't terrible... it was just off. The staff was fine (though they didn't really seem to have a rhythm either), the overall experience? Not one we're inclined to repeat. If we were driving by on a sunny day and their outside was open, we might give it a whirl, but driving down from Branford for a meal? No thanks. read more

They made some beautiful renovations and have elevated the menu and bar in ways Village Bistro struggled with. They are still in soft open but the food was delicious and the martini was perfect. The service is still being worked out, the prices are higher (1 adult 2 kids $90) but the ambiance and location make it worth it. . There is extra park across the street in another parking lot! read more

Great looking place but the meal was lackluster and overcooked Not even sure what was served with the salmon...some vegetables chopped in a spicy sauce that looked messy along with some blackened broccoli. The steak was fine but an overcooked potato and some tough carrots. Cocktails were good. I'll come back for happy hour. read more

it's a pretty restaurant and it's always nice to have outdoor dining but we were disappointed with the food. I had a lobster roll which was pretty good but tiny. The oysters were also ridiculously small. Overall, overpriced for the portions. read more

Yum yum yum and outstanding service by Caroline! The deviled eggs topped with fried oysters were so delicious & imaginative (great presentation-why didn't I take a pic???) and the steak and salmon couldn't be better! We enjoyed chatting with John and hearing about his passion & vision! Anchor Social is a true neighborhood gem, and look forward to dining again soon! read more

Food came out cold. Poorly made food. Do not recommend eating here. Ordered steak, fries and burger and nothing was cooked right.

The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You will not be disappointed. We had a group of thirty-five for a reception, and Brittany, the manager, making sure everything flowed smoothly from start to finish. The anchor chicken, salmon and pasta were five star. Guests were making plans to return as we were sitting there! If you're looking for excellent food with friendly, attentive service, try Anchor Social. We loved it! read more

Gooood service, I think their portion sizes could be a little better though. Always fun to see what specials they have!

The food was amazing. Love the corn purée with the salmon entrée. The roasted oysters were amazing and delicious martini. We'll be back!

Nice little place, very quiet. The ambience was perfect, place was very clean - I felt like I was in in Maine or Cape Cod based on the atmosphere and set up. The food was excellent. We came in a little later (2 hours before closing) and it felt like we were slightly rushed by the staff. Otherwise, the staff was nice, the place was cute and I would definitely come back. read more

We waited with child like anticipation for Anchor Social to open! And we were not disappointed!! The interior has been completely renovated and the beachy vibe is perfect for the surrounding neighborhood. While their menu is understandably limited, the food was outstanding and our server, Joe, was friendly and accommodating. I started with a Moby Dick cocktail ( Grey Whale gin with St. Germain and blueberry purée) it was delightful! Just the right amount of sweetness and you could taste the gin. For my appetizer I got the Crab Nachos. Initially I was disappointed that they were not hot... however, I soon realized that "hot" temperature would have not allowed the freshness of the cumin lime crema along with the roasted corn and crab to shine the way that they did!! Next, my partner and I split an Anchor Burger. YUM!!! I asked for medium and it was perfectly cooked! The fries were not gluten free.. so those of you gluten sensitive beware. I cannot wait for the full menu to be rolled out!! read more
