Yum! I only wish the portions were bigger! We decided to get the potatoes to share and were thankful for it as they made an excellent companion to scoop up the remainder of the delicious sauce left over from my tasty shrimp and grits. Alone they were tasty with a nice crunch too! I also tried my sister's swordfish and her sauce had less spice but was equally delicious.

This was a Leap Day dinner either a few friends. Cafe Melba has limited hours and they don't take reservations so we didn't know what to expect. The locale is in a strip mall on Melba St. and it's easy to miss because there isn't really any signage. But what a gem! We arrived around 5:30, were seated, and immediately attended to. Happy hour was going on so we had beers and a couple of cocktails. It's dark so if you have poor eyesight you're going to need the flashlight on your phone. We ordered the charcuterie board, beet salad, and arugula and everything was crisp and fresh! I had the chicken sandwich. Thick piece of chicken and so moist! My friend had the burger and same thing. Another had the rabbit and same thing. Every dish was absolutely delicious! You have to come here!

Just discovered this cool little place that has been open nearly a year! Where the heck have I been? I decided to sit out on the patio, which has a very cool vibe. The bar is a quirky one that looks like something you'd throw together in your backyard. However, it absolutely works in this setting. And it was manned by the very capable Drew. You can't beat the happy hour specials for drinks! My rosé was $1 per glass. The food menu while small, speaks to the freshness and the quality of the food. For starters, I had the escargot toast. It was quite delicious, even though I couldn't eat the bread! (those of you that follow me know I have a wheat allergy) I got talking with the woman sitting next to me who ordered the Burrata toast which she said was delicious and she allowed me to photograph! My date had the trout saltambucca which he raved about! I had a burger which was cooked perfectly and was served with a side of Ruffles chips. We also got the grilled asparagus which was perfectly done. I highly recommend you check out chef Dan and his cool little place !! Currently, they are open Thursday through Sunday. And if you have Instagram, I would recommend following them. They announce specials on their Instagram account.

I'm the best picture taker - food was too good not to start! Here are the apps.

Went to Melba Cafe tonight with my parents for an early Fathers Day dinner. We will definitely be back! Although they don't take reservations, there are plenty of seats! Bar, high tops, tables, communal tables, even airplane seats! We were hoping to sit outside but the rain kept everyone inside. Looks like outside had plenty of options too though - picnic tables, high tops, Adirondacks ... and I heard they have live music too? Service was great! We ordered drinks. We had Aperol Spritz which came in oversized wine glasses. We ordered apps and then waited on our actual dinner which is nice when restaurants give you that option to take your time. We started with the shisito peppers (my favorite - and don't forget the sauce at the bottom of the plate), burrata toast (my moms favorite), and escargot toast (my dads favorite). Good thing we waited on ordering dinner because the apps were HUGE! Definitely shared plates and food for groups of 2-4. We did order the lamb burger and chicken sandwich to split which was totally unnecessary after all the food we ate ... but so worth it! The lamb was delicious and had a great grill taste to it. The chicken sandwich was awesome. Perfect spice. Both dishes came with chips. We were too stuffed for dessert but will definitely be going back for the adult sundaes! We saw a couple come by and they looked awesome. Not much to look at from the outside - no sign or anything. But the food speaks for itself!

Awesome first experience checking out Cafe Melba! Great to have another awesome restaurant in the neighborhood, we are spoiled in Milford with great food! We had the Brussel sprouts to start which were fantastic. For our meals we went with the Shrimp & Grits and the duck breast. Both dishes showed attention to detail and were on point. We were disappointed they ran out of the eggplant rollatini and short ribs- but we will be back soon for them! Great ambiance and vibes here as well. Highly recommend!

We went on a PACKED Thursday night before a movie. I was worried we'd miss the movie because it was so crowded. No way they were so quick and efficient! We skipped drinks this time but I hope to try the espresso martini soon that looked great. I got the chicken sandwich and my hub got the burger. Both came with lays chips. The bread was bulky but it worked well with a packed sandwich (I judged it at first). The menu is very different, which we aren't too experimental people so I was happy they had the basics on the menu too. Our server was very friendly and speedy. We live close so we will be there often I'm sure, yay :)

Chef Kardos is familiar face to the neighborhood so it was a welcoming site to see him open up another place. Located in the dollar general plaza off Melba St. is this cafe. I didn't see an actual sign on the building so it may be tricky to find. My wife and I pulled up to this place on a Thursday night before catching a movie and the place was jam packed. They have a variety of seating, high and low top tables along with some longer tables fitted for bigger parties. Appears they even have an outdoor patio area once the weather breaks. We were greeted by our server who told us a couple specials of the day, $10 burger and fried chicken sandwich which we each opted for. My burger was incredibly juicy, cooked perfectly and topped with a spicy aioli, bacon, pickles and pepper jack cheese served with some Lays potato chips, was amazingly delicious. My wife enjoyed her chicken sandwich which also came with chips. Her sandwich was a good size chicken breast, topped with bacon, ranch and pickled jalapeño. They also have bar seating in case those were wondering. The ambiance was cozy, dim lighting, few tvs on in the background while the kitchen was tucked away in the corner, could see them in the window. Can't wait to go back, this place rocks!!

Very happy to have Dan back in the neighborhood. Cafe Melba is even better than his previous joint. Food was on point and what a transformation to this space. Great vibe. Lot of cool lounge areas to sit. Airplane seats? Why not! The menu changes frequently, which means we will be visiting frequently. For the Woodmont-ish area, this is the best food you'll find by far and one of Milford's finest. Looking forward to the patio when it warms up again.

Cafe Melba is AMAZING. I crave their famous fried chicken sandwich 24/7. And it happens to be $10 every Thursday! Service is always speedy and on point. The vibes are cozy and welcoming. I would go to cafe Melba everyday if I could. Every dish I've ever ordered has been flavorful, thoughtful, and DELICIOUS. I love how their menu changes every week. I look forward to see what the chef will be cooking up! HIGHLY RECOMMEND 12/10

This place is everything you want in a brewery and nothing you don't. First off, the beer: it's stupidly good. Like, annoyingly good. The kind of good where you go in thinking, "I'll just try one" and then three flights later you're googling if it's socially acceptable to move into a brewery. Their IPAs actually taste different from one another (shocking, I know), the stouts don't drink like liquid bread, and even the lighter stuff has actual flavor. It's witchcraft, and I'm here for it. The vibe? Top tier. Inside feels like hanging out in your cool friend's garage--if your cool friend also had a professional brewing setup and knew what the hell they were doing. Outside, the beer garden is basically Milford's adult playground. Add in food trucks and you've got yourself the perfect Saturday. The staff? Friendly, quick, and actually seem like they enjoy being there. Do you know how rare that is? I've been to breweries where the bartender looked like I asked them to solve long division just by ordering a pint. Not here. At Tribus, they get it right. Bottom line: If you're looking for a place where the beer slaps, the vibe's relaxed, and you won't get ignored like a ghost at a bad Mexican restaurant (ask me how I know), Tribus is it. 11/10, would recommend, and will absolutely keep coming back until they name a beer after me.

For my 2025 New Year's resolution, I made a decision to start leading a healthier lifestyle. These are also foods that make you feel fuller faster. I've also decided to significantly reduce alcohol intake. Craft beers tend to be very high in calories, and alcohol in general can have negative effects on your metabolism. A friend of mine recently decided to start exclusively drinking Athletic beers. Five months into it, he feels significantly healthier and may never drink real beer again. I decided to give the 'Athletic diet' a trial run. I signed up for a year membership and visited their Milford facility to grab a case of their beer. First opinion was not positive as there are three doors with signs on them and a good amount of junk on the outside, so curb appeal was lacking. We went in, weren't greeted, but greeted the brewery-tender. He doesn't say anything really, doesn't welcome us, or offer to tell us about the brewery even though we share its our first time. The place is clean, with darts, and board games (in disrepair). The Rangers have just started playing, first period. I ordered a white wine, hubby a citra session ipa. Hubby thought the beer was great, however served with a 2" head so not as exciting. Quickly after arriving, a family arrived with a bunch of kids who treated the place as a McDonalds play space. No one said a thing as they ran crazy, throwing darts, and just being kids on a playground, yelling and screaming. Eventually, another group comes in, most likely owners as nothing was rang up, and kiddo was behind bar playing on POS system, but suddenly the bartender was friendlier, and the parents asked the kiddos to chill. This brewery can't grow with this experience to new customers. Dockside is only in their fifth year, they run like a well oiled machine. Plus side for this small brewery, it was clean, wine was not bottom barrel but a good choice, and hubby very much liked the beers. When we arrived, the bartender was watching the hockey game. The board games were all in disarray. I personally fixed most of them, because we were looking for something to challenge each other with besides drinking lol. Maybe in down times, fix things up. Overall, if not for the very rambunctious kiddos running and screaming, we would rate it a four. Today I can't. Six years in business and not growing, your beers are great, wine is better than most, but atmosphere is a playground. Another tip is to provide ice. Water provided is warm. Go check them out as beer and vino are good.

Willett began entering his beer into homebrew competitions and eventually beat out 40 other contestants at a contest in Stamford. Eventually Willett and Candido decided to join forces and open their own brick and mortar brewery: the first one to open in Milford which now has a growing craft beer scene. It is their mission to produce great-tasting quality beer for local beer drinkers. Most of their offerings are named after points of interest in Milford. I first visited Milford Point Brewing in March 2019. I devoted that day to trying out some new breweries in the area that I hadn't visited yet. Milford Point was my last stop of the day. They have a cozy taproom in a business park and most of the clientele seemed to be locals. I sat at the bar and ordered a flight of four which consisted of "06460" (Citra Session IPA), "Silver Sands" (IPA), "West Shore" (Double IPA), and "Settlers Stout" (Milk Stout). The Silver Sands IPA was my favorite of the flight and I purchased a four-pack of cans to take home. Milford Point makes a nice addition to the city's craft beer scene.

Kwok has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Some of the other restaurants he has opened include Sweet Basil in Fairfield, Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Cafe in Westport, and Eat Noodle in Bridgeport. Kwok and Nguyen's latest venture opened at the Connecticut Post Mall in a restaurant space that was previously home to Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar, which specialized in tavern-style pizzas cooked in a cast-iron skillet. 8 Thousand Pizza offers this same style of pizza, but what sets them apart from the previous pizzeria is that they also offer self-pouring technology, which became legalized in Connecticut in 2021. The food menu features two dozen tavern-style pizzas as well as burgers, wings, fries, salads and soups. Through the use of a supplied electronic bracelet, customers can self-pour their own beverage from a selection of 28 craft beer taps and 6 wine taps. There's a two-pint or 32-ounce limit for the self-pours. I recently visited 8 Thousand Pizza for dinner. I had previously visited the space when it was Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar and was sad to hear that they moved. However, this new business concept of a tavern-style pizzeria with self-pouring taps sounded very interesting to me. This was actually my first visit to a self-pouring taproom, as these types of establishments only just began opening in the state in the last few years. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Grandma's Tomato Pizza" (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, tomatoes and EVOO) and the "Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza" (tomato sauce, pepperoni, hot honey sauce and mozzarella cheese). The latter happens to be 8 Thousand's signature pizza. Both pizzas had crust so thin that it's almost cracker like; they didn't flop at all. They were super crispy with excellent sauce and toppings. I honestly can't decide which one I liked better; they were both very good. During my visit, I enjoyed some self-pours of Grey Sail Brewing's "Captain's Daughter" (Double New England IPA) and New Park Brewing's "Cloudscape" (American IPA).
