I had a brutally slow experience at Tribos, despite the fact that it wasn't even slightly busy in terms of people dining in and takeout traffic. From appearances, Tribos looks like a fast casual Peri Peri chicken version of a Chipotle type restaurant. When I ordered, there was 1 Customer in the restaurant. They only gave about 3 people food before I received my order. And from the time I ordered 3 Medium Peri Peri Wings for myself, and 6 tenders to go for my son, it took 35 minutes for me to get my food. The young woman who helped me was very nice, and acted professionally under the circumstances. But they did not prepare me for the fact that my order might take that long. I would have left right away if they had. I finally had to speak up and I was told that they only had one person cooking. Frankly, given the amount of output from the kitchen, that should have been enough to finish my food much earlier. The wings were reasonably good. The sauce was spicy but manageable. The inner texture was most and juicy. The outer texture had some char, and wasn't too chewy as grilled wings sometimes are. If my order had taken about 10 minutes, which would have been reasonable for food of this nature, I would return. Given the lack of leadership and organization I experienced, I would not return. 2.25 Stars

New spot alert! I'm a fan of peri peri chicken and had it in Florida, so I was excited one opened up in the neighborhood. They are known for their flavorful flame grilled chicken. The food is Portuguese inspired and peri peri is a chili pepper from Africa. They have mild to extra hot! Everything is made from scratch. There are many items to choose from; chicken, wings, burgers, wraps, rice bowls, platters, and more. The interior was nice and clean and the employees were friendly. I had the $10.99 quarter chicken white meat, flavor was hot, with a side of $4.99 rice. They also have complimentary sauces (red and white). The chicken was so tender and the flavor was robust. I'm a spicy fan so the hot was perfect for me. My family also enjoyed their meals. I'm happy to have this establishment close by to me!

I love this place, so so much! I am a huge fan of spice and can truly appreciate a place where the "hot" level of spice can actually offer some heat! I really enjoy the extra hot sauce available when dining in, along with the cool garlic sauce to balance out and tame the heat. I love the seasoned rice and the peri fries, which have a fantastic flavor and crunch. My only downside is that it is a bit pricier for a fast casual option, but everything tastes wonderful and fresh!

I was so shocked when I found a Peri Peri place opened up in Avon of all places, but I'm thrilled they're here!! The food was absolutely amazing. I love peri peri chicken and got the rice plate. Everything tasted delicious and the staff/service were super nice and speedy. I would definitely come back here again. It's one of those order at the counter places with an option to dine in. Would definitely come back!

My family and I had a great experience here. We are a group of 6 plus a baby and we had wonderful service. Great to see new and different halal restaurants opening up in CT. The staff were super friendly and nice, food came out fast and fresh. We ordered the family platter and wings and they were so good. The medium spice was perfect as it still had a kick to it but wasn't super spicy. The sides were really good, especially the rice and potato salad. Definitely try the garlic sauce too. Chicken was so flavorful and moist. Price is also very fair for the amount of food you get. Restaurant is clean and there is plenty of seating, plus high chairs. Bathrooms are also clean and have changing tables. We'll definitely be back!

That's because when you pull into the shopping plaza.....you don't see it. But if you circle around to the right, you'll see it on the side of the strip mall's buildings. And trust me, this spot is definitely worth hunting down to experience a standout breakfast or lunch. We walked in a little before 1:00 yesterday and found a table for two in the back left corner of the dining room, so we had a good view of the entire room. I have to tell ya, the place was packed! Breakaway closes at 3:00 every day except Sunday (2:00), and there were breakfast and lunch menus out, plus a few daily specials. My wife went with a "William's Ham Panini" ($17) with thin sliced ham, bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar and honey mustard on a grilled panini. We both were struck at how much ham was piled onto her sandwich. She had a few choices for a side dish and put her nickel down on potato salad. I went with The JT Salad ($16). The menu says it's been their "best-selling salad 25 years and counting". It was a big portion of mixed greens served with house balsamic dressing, grape tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled chunks of teriyaki glazed chicken breast. It was stellar, with plenty of that yummy cheese and chicken. The only sour note with our lunch was a rather steep $4.25 for a glass of iced tea that was half-filled with ice. The food was very good and a decent amount of leftovers came home with us for another day. I was unexpectedly impressed by how crowded Bistro was on a random Monday. I bet you'll be too.

These days it's hard to find a cafe that isn't overpriced and better than just average. But Toasted Oat hits the high points of quality of cook on the food, even if the ingredients may not all be top notch. They have breakfast sandwiches, bowls and scrambles, as well as regular sandwiches, salads and burritos. We enjoyed the regular breakfast sandwich with spinach and cheese (subbed the meat but wish the spinach had been cooked in - $7) and the breakfast scramble which included 2 eggs, 3 veggies, cheese, protein all mixed/cut up together, as well as hash brown (didn't exactly look homemade?) and toast ($11). Everything was served in to-go containers so the looks weren't the best but makes sense given the place and that most people probably don't dine in. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Everything takes time to come out so you know it's done to order. They also have some coffee and tea. They had a few coffee cake items in a glass display but didn't look homemade either. It feels like a cafe should have more selection of pastries but again bother me. Service was friendly and patient. The actual location isn't that great visually either. There is one longer table and a few smaller ones, but it's not a big place and not decorated to impress (fine by me!) It is located in a small nondescript plaza with an Indian market. Small parking lot. Wish this small business well!

We've had the corn chowder, the split pea with ham, and the super delicious sausage and kale. We went in today and got a butternut bisque, a chili, and an Italian wedding soup and are excited to have them for dinner over the weekend (ETA: The chili wasn't our favorite, but the Italian Wedding was very good and the butternut bisque was fantastic). They also have jams, honey, bread and little snacks. We tried the homemade strawberry jam and it's lovely. On Tuesdays, the soups are two for one (I believe this is every Tuesday, but maybe it was just on the Tuesday I happened to be there), which is a great deal. I have a feeling this place will be in our weekly rotation once the fall weather kicks in.

You can Grab and Go Monday through Friday between 11:00 and 6:00. If the portion size of our Eggplant Lasagna is typical of the rest, two can split an order. Here were tonight's entrees: Mac and Cheese $12 Chicken Dijon $14 Swedish Meatballs and Noodles $16 Panko Chicken $12 BBQ Pulled Pork with French Fries and a roll $18 Eggplant Lasagna $14 They had one appetizer tonight -a dozen sausage stuffed mushrooms for $16. They had a slew of $5 side dishes like vegetable quinoa, pasta salad, tuna mac, roast carrots, etc. And how can we forget dessert? I saw some cupcakes and macaroons. There were two very pleasant young folks behind the counter who took my order and placed my entrée and a bag of six macaroons ($5) inside a complimentary tote bag. They asked me to check out the freebies on a table on the way out, so I helped myself to a pen, a pad and a book of matches. The Eggplant Lasagna was plenty big for us to split. It had a nice blanket of mozzarella on top with lots of thinly sliced breaded eggplant, creamy ricotta, and sauce. It was very good, but I think it could have used a bit more sauce. And those macaroons? OUTSTANDING!! Very moist, very soft, very coconutty. The Bee's Knees provided us with very good quality food, a generous quantity for $14, and all things considered an excellent value.
