Delicious food at Riptide! I had their tasty lobster roll (which I was glad I ordered in the end!) which was stuffed with lobster! We ordered fried calamari for the table which were tasty but nothing special. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and when asked, got us a list of the prices for the many, many items on the menu listed at MP. I do wish they had this readily available to customers given that the majority of the menu is MP. My companion was upset because she asked our waiter to bring a slice of chocolate cake for our friend who's birthday it was and they forgot but the wait staff was apologetic.

So I went to RipTide this weekend - it's literally right across from West Haven Beach which is super convenient if you're spending the day there. The place itself is really cute, kind of quaint with indoor and outdoor seating. Inside has tons of windows and light walls with beach themed stuff everywhere. Very bright and airy feeling. The menu looked promising with lots of good sounding dishes. I ended up getting the lobster bisque and shrimp tacos. For the tacos I went with fried shrimp which... big mistake lol. The shrimp was SO bland. Like literally no flavor at all. I asked our waitress about it (she was really sweet btw) and she told me they don't season their breading because people have complained about seasoning before?? So now they just don't use any salt, pepper, nothing. I get wanting to please customers but this seems like going too far in the other direction. The lobster bisque was the complete opposite problem - way too salty! Plus it only had like two tiny pieces of lobster in it. For the price I was expecting more than that. My friend got the lobster grilled cheese and really loved it, but we both had the same issue with our fries - no salt on them either! Seems like this no-seasoning thing is happening across the menu. Location is awesome and the atmosphere is really nice, especially if you get a table by the windows. Our server was great too. But the kitchen really needs to figure out their seasoning situation. Would maybe give it another shot for the location but definitely ordering something different next time.

    Lobster roll and onion rings

The lobster roll is so good here that I went back two weeks in a row for it! Loaded with tender lobster. Their onion rings are excellent too. There is a parking lot next door that belongs to a store plaza and parking spaces are tight. It is located directly across from the beach. There is a dining room as well as an adjacent screened in enclosure for dining.

Clam strip after th rock hard batter broke off.

Was visiting a friend in West Haven earlier today and was craving clam strips, so we decided on Riptide, despite my friend having a bad dining experience on her last visit. We ordered takeout so I didn't have an opportunity to see the food prior to getting back to my friend's house. When I opened my takeout container, it was very obvious that my meal was grossly overcooked. The clams were so overcooked that the batter just cracked off of the fossilized clam and retained the hollow cavity where the clam previously resided. My friend had the stuffed clams, which were also a bit overcooked, but not nearly as bad as my meal. Needless to say, we were both very disappointed. Even more disappointing than the awful food was the fact that they served it without any hesitation and with zero consideration for the good money spent on their absolutely subpar food. Clearly, food quality is not the only issue they need to address. I will not return!

With new management their lobster roll is amazing. I think one of the best. Love this place and their staff. Always good service and nice people. And always good drinks. Cucumber and pear martini are my favorite.

Quality Sea food great menu selections. Grouper was delicious and lobster was crisp and tender. Coleslaw is sweet and the fries are unseasoned but the vibe is a 9 out of 10

Located right across the street from the water, this is a great place to stop for a bite on a nice day. The interior is super clean and updated with a beach feel. The server was nice and attentive even on a busy Saturday night. Best dish of the night by far is the eggplant tower. The eggplant was thin and crispy with a good ratio of breading. The mozz and tomato tasted fresh. For seafood, we tried the seafood linguine and hot lobster roll. Fairly priced for the portion and cooked well. The brussel sprouts were a special and perfectly crispy. The chicken caprese was a large portion and all the vegetable tasted fresh as well.

Daily special fried thin chicken cutlet, mozz, roasted red pepper, arugula on a sub with fries and coleslaw.

Just water to one side, coastal highway, and then Riva. The bartending staff is definitely skilled. They're fast, friendly... and make a drink that has kick but you don't get the alcoholic burn. A dangerous combo for sure. The food was good too. A double patty burger and onion rings, at $25 give or take, definitely the right price range for it. My one gripe is the beer prices. $9 for a can of Miller Lite is very steep. I get there's overhead, staff wages, taxes, all of that, but a high price for a cheaper beer is a deterrent. When the cocktails are $4 more but you get a decent amount for the drink, that's totally fair. Craft beers at $9 is understandable. But cheap domestics at that level? It's not the best decision there. But other than the drink prices, it's clean, great staff, very good food, and an experience that made me go "I'll come back when it's summertime for sure"

This might be someone else's cup of tea, but unfortunately it just wasn't mine…read more When I first saw this restaurant on Instagram, I genuinely thought it was an upscale waterfront restaurant. As the date got closer and I looked more into it, I realized it was actually more of a sports bar/entertainment venue vibe which, honestly, I should have known going in. That's on me. I'm just not a sports girlie, and this place is clearly made for people who love that atmosphere. We went on Fourth of July weekend, which was probably the busiest possible time to go. If you love being surrounded by tons of people, loud music, sports fans, jerseys everywhere, and a high-energy crowd, this could be your dream night. The World Cup was on, everyone was dressed in their team gear, and the energy was definitely there. But for me personally, it was overwhelming. It was also 101 degrees outside, and while part of the area is partially enclosed, most of the space is outdoors. Between the heat and the crowds, I was just uncomfortable. Again, that's not necessarily the restaurant's fault the weather and holiday weekend definitely played a role but it affected my overall experience. We arrived around 5:30 PM because we wanted to catch happy hour (which ended at 6). Parking was easy, and the line to get in only had a few people ahead of us, so no complaints there. The surprise came when we reached the entrance and were told there was a $20 cover charge. When I asked if there was usually a cover, they said no, but because it was a holiday weekend and they "had a lot going on," they were charging one. My issue was that this wasn't advertised anywhere on their Instagram or when we were planning our visit, so that was frustrating. Paying $20 to enter a mostly outdoor venue where there weren't even seats available didn't sit well with me. All the tables were full, so we ended up sharing a table with another couple. We ordered the wood-fired pizza -- buffalo chicken and margarita and I'd rate it about a 7/10. It was good, but nothing that I'd specifically go back for. They do have a lot of other food options, but I personally only tried the pizza. For drinks, they have cute bucket options, but I didn't want that. I ordered a Peach on the Beach (whiskey-based), and it was fine. Drink prices were actually reasonable and not overpriced. They also have a creamery, which was a nice touch. I got a scoop of pistachio ice cream for $5.31, and that was honestly very good. They advertised fireworks at 9 PM, but as it got closer, the DJ announced that guests would need to leave the property, walk across the street to the beach to watch them, and then wait in line again to get back inside. At that point, we decided to leave. When we left, the line to get into the restaurant was absolutely massive; there was no way I would have waited in that. Getting out of West Haven was also a nightmare. It took me about 45 minutes to get out, even though getting there only took a couple of minutes. Overall, I think this place could be a great time for the right person. If you love sports, big crowds, loud music, and a party atmosphere, you will probably have a blast. If you're looking for an upscale waterfront dining experience, higher-end food, or a more relaxed night out, this probably isn't the place. My biggest advice: don't go on a holiday weekend unless you're specifically looking for that packed, high-energy experience. On a regular weekend, I could see this being a completely different experience.

It was founded by business partners Gino Fetta, his son Luigi Fetta, along with cousin and chef Al Dinofrio and friend Mark Lynch. Both Gino and Luigi have 60+ years of combined experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. They had initially been looking for a space to open a new restaurant in Milford, but then they learned of the availability of a space along the shoreline in West Haven. The space had hosted a number of restaurants over the years, including Savin Rock Roasting Company. Gino is a lifelong butcher and had previously operated as the "meat man" behind the aforementioned restaurant. Luigi has a wealth of knowledge of mixology and a strong passion for food. The father and son completely gutted the space, gave it a nautical theme, and named their eatery after the nearby Oak Street Beach. The menu (which is always changing) features a variety of Italian-influenced entrees, seafood, tacos, sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, and various tavern appetizers. I recently visited Oak Beach Bar + Grill while I was meeting up with some work colleagues for an after-work happy hour. We were all seated in the dining room area. I really like the nautical theme and the fact that the location is a short walking distance from the local beaches and the Savin Rock boardwalk. I first started off with a plate of "Stuffed Clams" (bacon, mozzarella, bread stuffing). The staff weren't kidding when they said "stuffed". The stuffing was seasoned well and the clams were very flavorful. I follow them up with the "Fish Tacos" (oven baked Atlantic cod, pico de Gallo, shredded lettuce, avocado crema). The fish was cooked well, but the icing on the cake was the pico and the crema. I washed my delicious food down with cans of Athletic Brewing's "Run Wild" (IPA) and "Upside Dawn" (Golden Lager). If you find yourself by the West Haven shoreline and are craving a delicious lunch or dinner then head to Oak Beach Bar + Grill!

First opinion was not positive as there are three doors with signs on them and a good amount of junk on the outside, so curb appeal was lacking. We went in, weren't greeted, but greeted the brewery-tender. He doesn't say anything really, doesn't welcome us, or offer to tell us about the brewery even though we share its our first time. The place is clean, with darts, and board games (in disrepair). The Rangers have just started playing, first period. I ordered a white wine, hubby a citra session ipa. Hubby thought the beer was great, however served with a 2" head so not as exciting. Quickly after arriving, a family arrived with a bunch of kids who treated the place as a McDonalds play space. No one said a thing as they ran crazy, throwing darts, and just being kids on a playground, yelling and screaming. Eventually, another group comes in, most likely owners as nothing was rang up, and kiddo was behind bar playing on POS system, but suddenly the bartender was friendlier, and the parents asked the kiddos to chill. This brewery can't grow with this experience to new customers. Dockside is only in their fifth year, they run like a well oiled machine. Plus side for this small brewery, it was clean, wine was not bottom barrel but a good choice, and hubby very much liked the beers. When we arrived, the bartender was watching the hockey game. The board games were all in disarray. I personally fixed most of them, because we were looking for something to challenge each other with besides drinking lol. Maybe in down times, fix things up. Overall, if not for the very rambunctious kiddos running and screaming, we would rate it a four. Today I can't. Six years in business and not growing, your beers are great, wine is better than most, but atmosphere is a playground. Another tip is to provide ice. Water provided is warm. Go check them out as beer and vino are good.

The Silver Sands IPA was my favorite of the flight and I purchased a four-pack of cans to take home. Milford Point makes a nice addition to the city's craft beer scene.
