Had been wanting to come here for months but the rooftop was either closed or had events going on so it took us a while to finally get a chance to check it out. The rooftop is pretty cute. The menu is small of course and pricey. The appetizers and cocktails were alright but nothing overly special. Not sure if I would personally return.

Have any of you ever wondered what it feels like to be treated as if you're Beyoncé? Well I do everyday and my dreams came true when I was asked to come back and dine at High George. Kim K, who I believe is the GM or Manager, reached out to me via Yelp and invited me back to try the food since the last time I was there I only had drinks. I told her I'd be there Thursday and when I arrived, they had me and my guest on the list and Kim K seated us herself. She was just the sweetest person I think I've ever met and her staff took care of us without missing a beat. I got the lobster roll and mushroom skewer which were delicious As we were eating, they kept bringing us more food and for desert, we were treated with the Whoopie pie & the coconut ice cream which was made in house. Everything was PHENOMENAL!!!! The service, the food, the drinks (two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc) and the ambience. Perfection to the max. I can't wait to come back. Thank you so much Kim!!!

The food is fabulous. The presentation is excellent. We attended the roof top restaurant for this establishment and the service was just perfect during this time of COVID. I recommend the restaurant for dining. This was my second time attending High George restaurant and I look forward to coming back very soon.

Came here just for drinks at the bar and was honestly blown away. Who knew a little piece of NYC vibe was on the roof of Blake Hotel?!?! Decorated as a winter ski resort, it was so cozy. We stood at the bar which allowed for lots of people (and food) watching. If you have never experienced raclette before, get over to High George now. The most delicious cheese, so ooey and gooey. You won't regret the calories. Drinks were also ON POINT. I highly recommend the specialty drinks. High quality alcohol and experienced bar tenders. Also the cutest names for their drinks. Great vibe, great experience! Definitely a must try!

New Haven is lucky, real lucky, with what has happened here at High George. We have CT's best chef, Tyler Anderson of Millwrights with his 6-time nominee for James Beard Foundation's Best Chef Northeast and Top Chef fame, whipping up delectable bites in the kitchen, and Tim Cabral, owner of my favorite speakeasy cocktail bar in New Haven Ordinary and running the cocktail program in Porron & Pina in Hartford, another Tyler Anderson Spanish-themed restaurant. The dynamic duo is back at it again and I must say, what an incredible rooftop space over at the Blake Hotel. Really tastefully decorated, with a modern chic look consistent with the high-end boutique hotel style of The Blake, the rooftop will be the outdoor space to be this summer in New Haven. I posted pics of the menu to give you a sense of the food and drinks offer, a mix of creative and well executed small bites coupled with equally created and refreshing cocktails. I went straight for the Bold & Boozy section and both the OF and Sazerac were great. Everything we got off the menu was really fantastic too, I highly recommend the lobster roll, clam bellies and cheeseburger steamed buns. And my absolute favorite was the beef skewers, which so tender and succulent and marinated in a Korean style kalbi sauce. SO GOOD! I'm sure this place will get packed and it will be tough to get in during peak times, but definitely come check it out and you won't be disappointed!

Yay! High George. Such an awesome rooftop spot. Came in for a drink the other day. It's gorgeous. And guess what they do happy hour even on Saturday so you can get $1 oysters like I did! Can't wait to come back and check more of menu out and other cocktails.

Forget the name but a grapefruit and a mezcal. Both amazing.

**FOOD** 5/5. The food is OUTSTANDING. We loved every bit we had and kept it all gluten free and shared all our choices. APPETIZER: We started with the Tuna Tartar which had a salty lime flavor topped with crema. The tuna was so perfect on a tostado, it was the perfect vehicle. ENTREE: the best sea bass we ever had. Came with 2 so we each had 1, the beurre blanc was delicious and the potatoes were amazing but the fish was heavenly. We also shared the short rib which was unbelievable and a good size for sharing. They came with sweet potatoes. I think between the 2 I would lick the sea bass though. **ATMOSPHERE** 4/5. AESTHETICS 5/5 COMFORT 2/5. Probably wonderful during any other month besides summer, but we were sitting in a greenhouse at 5:30pm 85 degrees and pouring sweat. I'm not exaggerating... it was so hot. There were some fans but they did nothing. The entire glass ceiling with the beating sun... was not well thought out. No AC. Maybe when the sun goes down it's better, but I would never go back in the summer. **Gluten Free*** 5/5. Everything is marked GF and all the options are mouthwatering. **COST** 3/5. Appetizer, 4 drinks, 2 entrees $175 with tip. We will be back, but not during the summer.

It was quite steep, but since other local restaurants were booked, we decided to keep our reservation. I had been eager to return after several years, remembering previous excellent experiences. Because it was the Valentine's Day menu, it wasn't representative of their usual offerings. I missed the unique dishes they normally feature, but overall, it was still a pleasant evening. I had hoped to try their Arctic Char, but ended up with the salmon from the special menu. We started with an amuse-bouche of deviled eggs, which were fine. The ricotta appetizer was outstanding, with bright hints of lemon zest and balsamic, while the zucchini and carrots were less memorable. The salmon was enjoyable, though not my favorite dish, and I heard the steak was well-prepared. For dessert, the pistachio cake was tasty, though slightly dry, and was served with a pistachio and chocolate gelato. Overall, it was a decent experience, but quite pricey for the quality. I'm giving Zinc a 4-star rating, taking into account my past visits, which were quite good.

Mac and cheese was eh, really liquidy as well. I did really like the crispy mushroom risotto tater tots. They tasted just like tater tots. As we were getting to our last bites and still eating, at least three different staff members within a matter of a minute asked if we're were done and could take our plates away. I would have given this place four stars had we not been bombarded at the end of our dinner. It felt like we were being rushed out even though there were tons of tables and seats still available. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

I had scoured Eater's New Haven section earlier that day and seen BAR mentioned for where to get apizza. We traveled into the quaint-ish New Haven core and parked on the street. Luckily, they had just opened, so we were seated upon arrival. We got two pies: the Clam Casino and the Portrait of New Haven. The PoNH was good. The ricotta was a nice contrast to the sausage and red peppers. The Clam Casino was worth the journey by itself, however. It turns out clams on a pizza is a great idea. Large whole clams and bacon with cherry peppers? Damned right. I wasn't familiar with New Haven brand ("apizza" as I've now been told), but the char on the bottom from the wood-fired oven is crucial at holding some topping combinations to a higher echelon than others (where it deflates others): see the other-worldly good Clam Casino versus this-could-be-better-without Portrait of New Haven. Regardless, the Clam Casino would be a go-to if I lived anywhere near here. The inside is huge. We sat in the main barroom. It was warehousey, but a pool table and picnic tables for large parties gave it a cool vibe.
