Feels like a neighborhood spot. Decor is intimate, warm colors, but the acoustics need a little work. Small bar and dining room. Service is friendly but not fast. A dozen craft beers on tap, including Guinness, but many of them are Connecticut's own or national. Private parking, small alley style deck for warmer weather. The menu offers a nice variety of handhelds, big salads, classic chicken wings, a flavor of the week mac & cheese, and a half dozen entrees like short ribs over mashed potatoes or Bolognese. Visiting my girlfriend in the area and only in town for four days, we could've stayed out in bigger New Haven, but after meeting Lauren we drove back to The Tap House just for her! She made us feel like longtime friends: talkative, interactive, and genuinely enthusiastic. She's vibrant, always smiling and sets the whole vibe behind the bar. I don't think I've ever had such an aggravating dining experience and I wish I had turned around and left as soon as we pulled up. As we walked in, multiple people were standing in front of the entrance smoking, like within two feet of the door. Immediately turned off. We went in (changed the plan and ended up sitting inside to avoid the smoke) and within ten minutes of us being inside two guys TOTALLY HAMMERED at 5:30 on a Monday start screaming at each other and threatening to smash a glass in the others face, then the wife (?) chimes in and starts calling everyone d!ckheads. Twenty minutes later, the one that started all the trouble was allowed back in. Are you kidding me? This place looks and has the prices of a place where I go and expect to have a nicer place to eat. Then my husband and I got our appetizers and the $13 buffalo egg rolls were empty. Literally. One whole egg roll was just the shell with nothing in it (see photo). We also both ordered medium burgers and both with super pink. The saving grace was the wings and the French fries. That's it. I got the bill only to see after ordering there's an additional fee if you don't pay cash. We don't get to go out often and when we experience something like this, it makes me not want to again. I have never had to leave a restaurant to go get food elsewhere, I brought the rest of my burger home for our dogs. We will never come back - do better. read more

Today was our second visit here and it was just as good if not better than the first - 5.5 stars. Our server Jamie was amazing and the food was sooooo good. Two of the three of us ate from the specials menu the blackened chicken with penne in Gorgonzola sauce was outstanding and I really hope it's added to the regular menu as I would home here weekly for it! The short rib chimichanga was delicious! Drizzled with cheese sauce and served with upscale rice and beans that were better than most Tex Mex places! A little pico de gallo and sour cream finished it off perfectly! My daughter had the cowboy burger; frizzled onions, BBQ sauce and cheddar with a perfect medium cooked 8oz burger and the fries .... We were so excited when we heard that a new restaurant was opening in Beacon Falls as there's limited dining options there. I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the renovations that have been done to the building, as the former business was pretty dingy, and this is now cozy and inviting. The food wasn't bad, but it also didn't blow us away. I think it's a good spot for hanging out in Beacon Falls, and it's nice to have an option for American food in town. read more

We only had drinks here just to check it out. They have 20 beers on tap, which is exceptional. The place is newly remodeled and offers a fairly typical pub menu. There was a pretty good local crowd here when we came on a Friday evening . The prices appear to be in line with the market. We'll definitely come for a meal. read more

This review isn't to bash you, it's hopefully to gain the owners attention so he talks to the staff... about the basics of being a server. Great food but we didn't get a water refill our entire meal, even know the server walked by multiple times. He was too busy on his phone or watching tv. There were 6 people in the entire Resturaunt, he had lots of down time doing nothing. This is one of the most simple tasks you can do in this "profession", make sure the water is full. The meal was great but no water makes me angry enough that the servers don't have common sense and won't want to return. Whether my mouth is full every time he comes by to shout excuse me or whether it's a test to see if he even looks at our cups and asks about our food, it's something someone without education can even learn to do. Please educate your staff that water is required for humans biological existence and when they eat food, they tend to drink it and usually.... need more than one tiny cup of it during a full meal. read more

We wanted to try the brand new Tap House in Beacon falls, as the owners are the same as "The Kitchen" in Prospect. We went on a Saturday night at 8pm, there was a good crowd in the bar area, as well as in the dining room area. They have an outdoor patio area in the front that has bar stools and a bar top. Not sure if it had heat lamps or not, but there were people outside as well. I ordered Devil Eggs, an a fish sandwich which was very tasty. It came with homemade chips, I didn't care for the chips as the seemed a little Burt. My daughter got a grilled cheese w/ fries, and my wife got a French onion soup and a French Dip sandwich with chips. Overall it was good, the only complaints were the chips. Staff was friendly, plenty of parking, interior was clean and had nice decor. It's nice for Beacon Falls to have a new restaurant where people eat. The bar area has TV's to watch sports. read more

My husband and I came in for dinner on Friday. We had the pleasure of having Sandy take care of us. Sandy was on her game! She took such good care of us as well as several other tables. We loved the decor and atmosphere of the place. We ordered some drinks and apps to start. The only downside to our experience was how long the drinks took. The bar wasn't very busy. The table across from us had their food before their drinks. From the looks of it maybe two bartenders would be better. I ordered the Sauvignon Blue and it was the best drinks I've ever had. We had the Short Rib Poutine and Burrata Brushetta to start and they were both absolutely delicious! For dinner I had the Valley French Dip and my husband had the Smashville hot and both were so good! We can't wait to come back and try more delicious food! read more

Nachos were so skimpy on toppings. Okay at best. Service was horrendous! We had to actually get up from our table to ask for drinks and ranch dressing. The server did not come back to the table once on her own. One of the drinks was impossible to consume. The dressing that came with the salad would've made someone sick to eat it - literally inedible. Overall experience was not great. Jordan served us with a smile and experience which is nice to see these days!!! Spinach salad was better than expected and everything was very fresh. My buddy had the poutine and enjoyed!! Waitress was very attentive and stopped by often to check in on us. My son had a hamburger that was very large and he stated outstanding, I had the Beef Burgundy to mix things up a bit and that was outstanding as well.
