I never mind paying a higher price for a good meal and attentive service! Came off peak today on a holiday weekend Friday afternoon. Wait staff talking to each other and on their phones most of the time. Only three in the place with customers. Should not have had to wave down anybody for a sharp knife to cut my overly well done grizzly steak that came additional to a wedge salad. The server that delivered my meal approached and said hey lady... For a minute, I thought I knew her... It was not the case. There was no problem coming back to ask me if I wanted a second $18 martini, which was lovely but no thank you! When I explained that my steak was overly well done and very grizzly the response was "I will tell the kitchen". No compensation no apology.. disappointed to have to pay good money to treat myself and not get what I thought I was paying for. Not my first disappointment here.... I'm honestly baffled by how The Station is still advertising its posted hours, because they certainly aren't honoring them. I've tried to eat here four separate times now. Not once... four times. And three of those times, the front door was locked a full hour before closing. No sign, no explanation, just locked. Tonight was the last straw: I showed up one hour and fifteen minutes before closing, and instead of being seated, I was told I could only sit at the bar. Period. No tables, no flexibility, nothing. If this restaurant doesn't want guests coming anywhere near closing time, then please: update your hours or put up a sign saying "We close whenever we feel like it." At least that would be honest. What's worse is how unwelcoming it feels. I genuinely wanted to support this place, I've given it multiple chances...but being repeatedly turned away well before posted closing time is unacceptable and absolutely misleading to customers. If management actually cares about the guest experience (which at this point is questionable), I would appreciate someone reaching out to address why this keeps happening and what the real policies are. Because right now, The Station feels less like a neighborhood restaurant and more like a place that can't be bothered to serve the people trying to walk through its doors. read more

We were there celebrating a graduation. I have never been there before and I will never go back again. There were 11 adults. We ordered the following, Parmesan Chicken, T-bone steak, Chicken Francese, Baked Salmon, 3- RibEye Steaks, Steak on a stone, Sirloin Steak, 2 orders of Lamb Chops, The only dish that was palatable was the Salmon. Sad to say even the sides were awful. There wasn't one drop of flavor on any of these dishes. I had the Chicken Francese it was thick and dredged in flour then egg then flour again. Salt and pepper and a whole lemon didn't help it. It was totally disguisting. All the other dishes were the same no taste what so ever. We all were really disappointed and needless to say will never ever go back there again. Service was okay they weren't as attentive as I thought they should have been. I've tried a handful of items when I've frequented this go to spot in the Naugy area. I haven't come across a sub par meal nor service issue anytime I've been here. I'm sure they've had a hiccup or two here and there like any restaurant will have from time to time but luckily i haven't been here while that's happened. If you catch it at the right time while you're here, the train passes right alongside the restaurant. It's pretty cool where the train is so close you feel you can reach right out and touch it if there was an open window. Don't try this at home kids. Hajahajahajahajahaja. The restaurant is tastefully decorated. There's plenty of parking in a good sized lot. There located right off of route 8 with very easy access on and off in either direction. We stopped in for lunch and had an amazing experience. The building itself is a transformed train station; what a wonderful job with excellent decor. The building is sectioned off into 3 different parts-1. Takeout, 2. Bar area, 3. Dining area. We were in the dining area for lunch. What an excellent lunch. We started off with the cod croquettes, which were absolutely delicious. The croquettes were silky smooth and served with some sort of corn chimichurri mix. So good! For lunch I had the steak grinder with sweet potato fries and my girlfriend had the chorizo. Both our meals were excellent. This is a pretty cool restaurant inside of an old train station! The service was good and the waiters were very friendly and willing to answer all of our questions. I got a hot lobster roll with fries and the orange butter on the side that i spilled over my plate was lobster ghee (butter infused with lobster drippings) which made my fries extra delicious! For dessert i got the chocolate lava cake and a friend got another type of chocolate cake and it was probably one of the best lava cakes I've had. Perfect gooey inside, chocolatey but not too overwhelmingly sweet, and the ice cream that complemented it was delicious. Went on a Saturday night just after 6pm and was able to get right in with my wife. A bit loud inside with the many people seated. Waitress was nice. Had the calamari appetizer which was good, very tender. Salt shaker was missing from our table and had to ask for one. My wife had a steak and thought it was pretty good. During the meal we kept getting whiffs of cigarette smoke. I think someone on the waitstaff walking by smelled of it. Not pleasant when trying to eat. The main issue I had was that the baked cod I ordered was spoiled. It arrived looking a little milky, not like any baked fish I ever ordered. I tried a few bites of it and kept getting a taste of ammonia, which is indicative of fish that has gone bad. I told the waitress when she came to clear the table and she looked confused when I told her how it tasted. They took $13 off the bill, which was half the cost of my entree. That's fine I guess since I ate the rice and vegetables so I wouldn't leave hungry. Not sure what is going on in the back and how their fish is being stored, but it should be looked into so other's don't get sick. Very cute place, set in the old train station. We ordered chicken marsala, a monk fish dish , pasta with clams, and a chicken special. The food was decent. Half of the group was very impressed and the other half said it was just okay. Which is why I'm giving four stars. But we will definitely go back and try some different dishes. Very pretty interior design! We were seated promptly with a table of 12. Drinks were good and came quickly. Service overall was very slow though- food and to get the check! The food is good at times ! I miss the bald headed guy with glasses that would work during lunch. He was cool and great attitude! Salmon over priced not to have any flavor. My friend and I went to the station on a Tuesday night. It was surprisingly not too busy and we were promptly seated. The atmosphere of The Station was very inviting. It was spacious and not too loud, a great place to talk and have a meal. For an appetizer, we both ordered French onion soup which was absolutely amazing. The soup was packed with flavor and cheesy goodness. Right up my alley! For an entree, I ordered penne alla vodka with chicken. I do wish there was more flavor in my pasta, along with more sauce but it was still good! My friend had similar comments about her chicken scarpiello and wished there was more flavor. The only thing I'd probably rethink about this is to TAKE THE SHELLS OFF the steaming hot shrimp in the kitchen! I had to peel my own shrimp at the table. Normally I don't mind but, The sauce got everywhere. I'd like to say that the shrimp were finger lickin good, but I would've rather not had to lick my fingers clean today. My uncle had the stuffed mushrooms. He stated that they were delisiouso! The main course came out super fast. Which is definitely a plus, considering there were only 3 occupied tables in the main dining room. My veal was prepared to my exact specifications. It was tender for the most part. Out with Writer Friend around Naugatuck, and decided to try someplace new. Bestie has been here a few times with her daughter, so she recommended we try here. Let me say this, the pictures of the inside gave me a slightly different impression of what to expect, but since I don't rate on appearances (or noise level, which is high), let's get right to service and food. Right off, the hostess was able to find us a table right away. It was a busy evening (a Wednesday), but there was still a few spots available. It took a few minutes for one of the servers to find us and take our drink order (just wine tonight, and there's a good variety, both by the bottle and by the glass). That took a little time to arrive as one of the larger parties was being served food and our server was running back and forth trying to get them taken care of. Not her fault. By the time our wine arrived, we had made our selections from the menu. I chose Chicken Scarparella --Sautéed chicken breast with hot peppers, sundried tomatoes, in a garlic basil masala sauce, served over fettuccini. Writer friend, intrigued by the concept, ordered the "Steak on a Stone", in which a New York Strip Steak arrives at your table, raw, along with an intensely hot piece of stone upon which to cook it. She took great pleasure in flipping the meat until it was done exactly the way she likes it (and I took great pleasure in not having to hear how the steak wasn't cooked exactly how she likes it from the kitchen!). Food was finished quickly (and in my case, messily, since the sauce splattered all over me while twirling the pasta--my fault for wearing white while eating). We were able to settle our tab quickly, and got out just as another train sped past outside (one of the problems with the room, lots of noise from trains which actually drowns out conversation, but what do you expect from a converted railroad station?) I'd recommend it for something different than the usual dining spot. The chandeliers and high ceilings give the room a bit of class, and service, if sometimes slower than usual because of volume, was spot on. I'd go here again! read more

The ambiance is nice, the restaurant is inside of what used to be a train station. Hence, the name, trains still pass by as you dine. It's very charming. The food is good. Tonight I had had the chicken Frances cooked well served with a baked potato and broccoli. My husband has a strip steak and my friends ordered the baked cod and a lasagna. This restaurant claims a special place for its atmosphere, its service and its food. Unfortunately, all seem to have left on the last train. Entering the restaurant, you are greeted by a barrage of voices. It's very noisy and that's before you realize that even in the dining room, there's a large-screen television adding to the cacaphony. That's the way a lot of restaurants are these days, but what really killed any ambiance for us was the smell of cigarette smoke that drifted to our table. We suspect it was from people smoking outside, but it was a regular enough thing that it was very bothersome. Service was initially fast and good. My wife and I ordered soup. Hers came immediately, but was tepid at best. It took us a while to get our waiter to stop by. He apologized and took the soup. We asked about mine and assured us it was coming. Shortly after that, another waiter came by with an unknown dish and my soup. He tried to give us the unknown dish. When we told him it wasn't ours, he took the unknown dish...and my soup...to another table. Eventually, my soup made it's way back to the table. And shortly after that, my wife's soup arrived back, well microwaved. The main course came shortly after that. I had to flag down the waiter to ask to have my water refilled. When the meal was done, the water came back with our check and then we waited. And waited. And waited. I finally took the check up to the hostess station and presented the check and my credit card. She gave me a deer-and-the-headlights look and told me our server would come get it. I asked when and she scuttled off to find him. He came back to the table sputttering that he thought he had taken our card and he was sorry and so forth. Between spotty and confused service and cigarettes wafting across our meal, I just can't give high grades. Cigarette smoking is banned in most restaurants and in most workplaces. There's a reason for that and if some loophole that I'm not aware of allows smoking close to where people are eating, you would think they would warn you...or perhaps they're just breaking the spirit if not the letter of the law by allowing smoking close enough for the smoke to drift in and flavor our meals. Our meals, yes. The food wasn't bad. I found my French onion soup to be a little salty, but it was tasty. And my Crispy Chicken wasn't bad either. My wife liked her soup and salad. Although the food was good and we enjoyed our meal, it was not what we would have expected for a $60 (without alcohol) dinner. The steaks are top notch as well. All food is conspicuously given attention to detail and it really shows. Even the deserts are above bar. Chocolate lava cake is a must try.
