Stopped in for an app & drink while in town and was not disappointed! The service was quick and friendly, food was delicious and fresh, and the vibes were high. Looking forward to trying more of their menu in the future!

I would give a solid 3.5 stars to this nice new place on center st, there is plenty of street parking and the inside is tasteful, the tables small though for sure. We started with cocktails - the sangria was not with marinated fruit, I had a French martini that was good but not great. We decide to share apps of frito misto, eggplant rollatini, zucchini chips, and fried artichokes. The artichokes and the rollatini were the highlights the two shrimp and the calamari in the frito Misti were a bit rubbery overdone for me as were the zucchini chips they tasted more of oil than zucchini. Our waitress was also the bartender and she was very nice brought bread and oil and checked in. I would visit again but order a dinner and choose a different drink.

We had cocktails to start off our evening followed by eggplant rollatini, arugula salad, and then we shared the special sausage, spinach Noki in a vodka sauce. We had a great time. The service was great and the food was good. We will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

    Small place, but cute

My friend and I started with a glass of wine, and the service in the beginning was good. However things quickly went downhill. This library proves you can't judge a book by its cover. We ordered the calamari appetizer. When it arrived, I opened my silverware from the napkin and discovered that my fork was filthy-- a giant glob of white, crusty food, the size of a dime, was still stuck between the prongs. I waited for my waitress to check in (she didn't deliver the food) but she never came. We tried to get the attention of another waitress and were ignored. After 10 minutes, with my calamari growing cold, I eventually walked to the bar to get a replacement. The bartended exclaimed, "Gross!" -- my sentiments exactly-- when I showed him the fork. By the time I actually sat down to eat, the calamari was cold. It was also super tough and chewy. There were hardly any peppers. We didn't eat much of it. I love French food, and I ordered the duck for dinner. I ordered it medium. When it arrived, it was cooked well done- perhaps in an oven rather than seared. I say this because the skin was not crispy and the fat had not rendered, so the skin/fat remained thick, chewy and inedible. Usually the crispy skin is the best part of duck, so I was disappointed. I had to cut off the skin and thick layer of fat to make it edible. It tasted quite gamey and there was no pink center. It came sliced into thirds, so they knew it was overcooked when they served it to me. I only ate a small portion. The rest of my dish (which came out looking stunning by the way) was also a big disappointment. Although it looked beautiful at first glance, I discovered the delicata squash still had the rough, inedible skin attached. The cherry sauce was heavy-handed and drowned my brussel sprouts, sweet potato purée and carrots to the point that all I could taste was the sauce (a thick, sugary glaze). I did my best to eat around it, because my waitress didn't check on us until much later. In fact we were basically done by the time I saw her again. I had given up at that point and left most of my food behind. There was also an issue with where we were seated. We had a small table in front of a window, but completely blocking a much larger table in a narrow corner. There was a family there when we arrived, and each time they got up to use the bathroom, I had someone's body pressed against my chair to squeeze by. A woman's behind actually grazed the back of my head at one point. When the family left, I could feel them brushing my coat off the back of my chair, resulting in them stepping on it. I can't blame them- it was a tight spot and a very awkward place for a table. I was annoyed that the waitstaff (I'm assuming) took the other chairs at my table, making a 4 seat table into a 2 seater, so I had no choice in where to sit. I didn't understand why they did this, because there was a lovely fireplace nearby and I had my back to it all night. Clearly, they weren't thinking about the dining experience from the customer's point of view. Maybe I could have switched tables but finding my waitress was like trying to find Waldo all evening, so it wasn't worth the hassle. Safe to say I won't be back. If you decide to try it out, be sure to get there early as parking is a pain to find at peak dinner hours.

There were a lot of tables out in the sun or under the tent (for a hot day under the tent was best!) We also bought snacks of crackers and cheese that they had, although they were a bit pricey altogether. There was also a selection of chocolate and cigars at the front. Depending where your facing, there are nice views of the vineyard. There was also a graduation party that reserved half the tent space. This vineyard had humble views and hands-off service (every time we wanted a new bottle we went inside to ring it up, and we brought our bottle back outside with us). Come here for no-frills winery and good wine. I'd recommend bringing your own snacks to accompany their wine!

LOL The road leading to the winery is very winding road so slow down and be careful for yourself and others. Also, very dark when you are leaving so that is another reason to slow down. We ALL want to get to our next destination safely. The bartender was friendly and very knowledgeable about their product. We listened to live music played by Myke Ross. The musical selections were great. People took to the floor to dance. I definitely will go back to this winery. Go check it out and enjoy yourself. We came with our own food from Panera Bread. You can order food there or even order pizza and have it delivered there.

In a display of restaurant solidarity , they recommended that we try Vinas Wine & Tapas. As it turned out, we have a NEW favorite in New Haven! We arrived a bit early and were cheerfully greeted by Mike G, our server. The atmosphere was welcoming and relatively quiet, since their musical offering does not start as early as our 5:00-7:00 PM time slot on a Tuesday. We had asked for the waiter Christian because he had been mentioned in several of the Yelp reviews, but Mike proved that the service compliments should go to everyone. First, the tapas: We enjoyed all five of the tapas we chose. The "Calamares" were lightly battered and crispy. The Vinas salad was fresh, with tomatoes, cheese, corn, and croutons. The pork belly was delicious and more meaty than expected . The oyster mushrooms were presented with onion crisps. The baked birria empanada was stuffed with brisket style beef. Each of these "courses" was a unique delight to the palate, and for me and my partner, it was completely satisfying. In keeping with the spirit of a "wine bar," Vinas offered a flight of 4 wines in 3 ounce glasses, and after hearing about our food choices and wine preferences, Mike chose the wines for us, giving us a chance to taste some less familiar offerings. We had the Felino Malbec 2024 (Argentina), which became our favorite for its full-bodied and deep flavor. Our second wine was a unique Don Abel (private label) from Wallingford CT, made by one of the relatives of the owner, specially for Vinas. This one reminded us of the local wines one might receive in a B&B in the Loire Valley in France. The final two wines were both from Chile: Reserva Carmenere 2023 and Cabernet Sauvignon Marques de Casa Concha 2022. Both were excellent wines. It was great fun to have Mike choose the wines for us, and we really enjoyed the variety that the flight offerings gave to us. Of course, we had to try a dessert, and Mike recommended the Toffee Cake. We had heard that the owner claimed that some people cried with joy after eating it. Although we restrained ourselves, we had to agree that this was an extraordinary conclusion to a fabulous meal. Overall, this was a great experience for us, and we heartily recommend Vinas Wine Bar and Tapas for a relaxing and welcoming dinner. Some reviews I had read suggested that the portions were too small for the price. I have to disagree. My partner and I love food, and this was plenty. And the price was reasonable. Including tip and tax, we spent about $75 each.

The ceviche was excellent, everything was cooked throughout by the citrus. The portion size is small for $19 and it could have used a side of bread or tortillas to soak up the delicious citrus based broth. The skewers were also excellent. They were cooked perfectly, super tender, juicy and flavorful. They cooked them with a seasoning and had a delicious chimi on top.

The tables are very crowded together. THE BATHROOMS ARE DIRTY, NO TOILET PAPER OR PAPER TOWELS IN THE LADIES ROOM AND STUFF ALL OVER THE FLOOR IN THE MEN'S ROOM. NOW FOR THE FOOD!! Veal Milanese, not too bad but not a hint of lemon, not even a wedge on the plate. For $32 Shrimp and crab special, FIRST...NO FLAVOR WHAT SO EVER!!! Totally under cooked pasta, (I am Italiano, I know Al Dente) totally WAY OVER COOKED SHRIMP and some tuna fish type crab meat you had to dig for to get on the fork. JUST AN ALL AROUND TERRIBLE DISH. For $38 Then, after expressing to the staff and talking to the owner about a dish we ate a few bites because it was so horrible, it was ignored by them and we had to pay for a $40 dish that was SHIT. SHE, the owner who honestly looked more like a poorly dress hostess, had the nerve to come back to our table, put her hand on my girls shoulder with a, "are you alright" comment rather than EVER ASKING if there was anything she could do to correct this culinary disaster. THIS PLACE ISN'T EVEN WORTH THE TWO STARS I HAVE GIVEN IT. It was very difficult to understand the mostly Spanish based staff.... if that doesn't scream Italian I don't know what does...However the deserts were not bad but almost certainly come in a box on a truck and not made in house. BOTTOM LINE IS, THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT ITALIAN DINING EXPERIENCES IN CONNECTICUT...DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS PLACE LIKE I DID.
