In an effort to start a new family tradition, my wife and I booked a reservation for our family for Christmas Eve at LA Foresta. We walked in and were instantly greeted and ushered to a table that was the right size for our little group. The service throughout the night was amazing, the food was delicious and appropriately hot, and the beverages were perfect. The staff was very knowledgeable and had no issues answering any questions. Once the food landed on the table, there was that kind of silence that can only mean that everyone was too busy enjoying the food to talk at all. Once the forks had settled, we all had nothing but compliments! After we had finished, we noticed that the whole place had cleared out. We chatted with the manager for a minute and gave praises to the service and food, and he said that he closes a bit early so that his staff can go home to spend the holiday with their families, which was admirable! I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about our experience and we're all looking forward to next year already! This rating is purely based on the food and the price. Comfortable enough seating outside, many flies, including one in my drink. The real kicker was the "special" for $65. A chewy/ flavorless piece of steak that was mediocre at best topped with very fishy crab, a side of asparagus and a small baked potato. Complete highway robbery. Plated beautifully, lacking flavor. Did not eat the crab, choked down the steak. The small baked potato was perhaps the best part, even though it was plain. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Bathroom bathrooms were clean. Out of the way, but worth a try Beautifully decorated, new wine deck looks like fun in warmer weather. Emblazoned on the side is #savewaterdrinkwine... We were there in time for "Happy Hour" - 12-6PM M-Th, half price appetizers. Great way to try a number of dishes! Tacos (carne asada and gamaron) were just okay... tortillas were somewhat chalky, and thin, they use two... Calamari was excellent, marinara sauce went well. Fresh tasting, large serving bowl... Fried bacon-wrapped mozz was a first, very tasty Stuffed zucchini blossoms were a pleasant surprise, figured them to be out of season... I didn't try the dessert but the creme brulee and tiramisu looked good... Went here with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. Our reservation was at 8pm we didn't get seated until 8:40. There were about 10 other couples waiting in the waiting area. We finally got sat waiter was kind working very hard but obviously stressed. We didn't have any idea that the Valentine's Day dinner was $95 prefix menu but was willing to try hoping the food was going to be good. Waited 30 mins for our appetizers which were 4/10 nothing crazy at all. Then waited another 30 mins for our dinner which was horrible. Chicken parm tasted like rubber, my boyfriend's steak was okay but nothing special. It was edible but not good. This is when it got alittle crazy. The couples sitting with us all started talking saying they've been waiting over an hour for their dinners we all said it was NOT worth $95. I would say $20 per dish at most. The staff was working hard clearly overwhelmed we felt bad for them. A couple couples left which I don't blame them. We stayed waiter took off our drinks from bill and they took off one meal which honestly wasn't enough. They ran out of dessert giving us a dessert we didn't even like. Another weird thing they put the older couples all in one section downstairs and but all of the young couples teens to 30s upstairs very strange. I went here with my mother on Christmas Eve day for lunch. They had a holiday menu which consisted of a limited selection of their regular dinner menu dishes at an increased price. The price increase and limited selection of regular menu items was the only difference. Considering the fact that it was a holiday we were understanding about it but my mom was clearly disappointed because she had her heart set on the veal scallopini. She mentioned that to the dining room manager who said he would accommodate her considering they were slow. In fact, there was only one other table seated at the time and I think another couple or two came in during the time that we were there. I ordered the rigatoni with lobster rather than asking for the dish I had planned on because I felt that we had already burden them enough. At that point the dining room manager turned to the staff and made a comment about how they might be slow, but there's still "money on the table" or "money to be made..." some comment like that. I was surprised that he would say this in front of my mother and I and the other table. Wouldn't that be a more appropriate comment to make back in the kitchen? I would forget all about this until a second interaction with that same dining room manager some months later that you'll read on my review of that visit. Anyway my mother enjoyef her veal scallopini. I wish I had ordered the same because the rigatoni dish was nothing special. Unfortunately, the lobster was dry and chewy and the pasta would have been much better with more sauce. I was a bit surprised because I was used to always loving everything I ordered there. That was the very first time I was disappointed in a meal at La foresta. The second time was the day after Valentine's day....when we were handed those same Christmas menus (with Holly decorations and all) just jacked up prices for the same (only limited) menu items. It wasn't even Valentine's Day by then anymore it was the day after. La Foresta is no longer my favorite restaurant. After saying, we have to try this place for about a year, we decided to. Welcomed by owner Francesco who ended up showing us a private tour after our meal and inviting us back. What a friendly environment. Talk about service with a smile. After a small wait time we started with a glass of delicious pinot noir! The main course was amazing. I had this eggplant stack to die for! My husband had oysters, and wished they were a bit larger. Although it took about 40 minutes to get our meal ( the only negative) we enjoyed it nonetheless. We stopped here for lunch after spending some time at Lavender Pond farm a few minutes away. We were promptly seated outdoors. The outdoor space is very pretty, it hardly feels like you're facing a parking lot. There were a lot of flowers, which made that space feel very private. There is also a bar on the deck. The service was very prompt and friendly. We were often check on to see how everything was going and if we needed anything else. I wasn't crazy about the spread that was served with the warm bread. I ordered the Thai Chili Shrimp off of their summer menu. It was served over a veggie slaw. I loved it. Just the right amount of heat and packed with flavor. My friend ordered a pasta bolognese, which I also tried. It was good, but not as flavorful as the shrimp. It tasted fresh, and the portion was huge. The restaurant is pretty out of my way so I would only stop back in if I were in the area, but it just so happens that I was invited to a birthday party being held there in September, so I am looking forward to going again and trying some of their other offerings. read more

I always worry when my friends rave about restaurants.. the expectations are then set so high. La Foresta was just this restaurant. A good friend has been telling me that we needed to come here because the food is amazing. So, even though this place was half hour from home, we trekked down here on a random Wednesday evening for a ladies night out. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a jolly host. Full smile welcoming us. It already put me in a good mood. We were seated immediately on the outdoor covered patio. A waiter came quickly to take drink orders and we ordered the fried calamari appetizer to start. I think the calamari is won me over on this place. Usually when you order calamari, restaurants give you a shallow plate with an even amount of hot peppers and calamari. This restaurant, on the other hand, provided a very large bowl full of the fried fish. I don't think there are any of those fried peppers in there. It was just fried calamari in all its glory. Now when I say bowl, I mean it was enough to feed a family of four and then some. The calamari was perfectly fried also. I would go back just for that alone. I ordered zuppa di pesce but I asked the waiter if I could have it with gnocchi instead of linguini and without a hesitation he said yes - didn't even have to ask the chef. My friend got the short ribs - which looked so tender - and my other friend hit the salmon with the lobster mash. We all loved our meals. I had plenty to take home for lunch the next day. The only thing that could have made my dish better was larger shrimp - but other than that the sauce was delicious and gnocchi were well made. I would definitely get that dish again. A hot summer evening and the restaurant was busy yet still plenty of seats available for walk-in dining. The pandemic tent is still very much alive and the original dining room is not well ventilated so plan to be overheated when the temperature is hot. Service was good, felt bad for the servers given the room temperature and humidity. Food was mediocre at best, the chicken was the best dish. Bread was excellent along with the complimentary olive oil. Our guests were offended by the paintings in that rest room- something to consider if you need to use either the men's or women's rooms. He said well, I'm inside all day and then proceeded to direct us outside to pick any table we wanted. He almost seemed annoyed, by our (what we thought to be personable) conversation. Our waitress Cathy (or Kathy) took a bit to come over to us, but we really didn't notice much as we were in no rush. She mentioned how busy it was and that she was the only server out on the patio that night. No worries. We ended up chatting greatly with her towards the end of our meal. She was wonderful. Hubby had a beer, I forget, maybe it was an IPA? I had a glass of the 2018 Conundrum white blend. So good, but a big glass for a small looking pour. I ended up getting another during the meal. We started with the spicy meatballs and the stuffed squash flowers. Both were amazing. I opted for the lobster mac and cheese. It arrived in a boiling hot crock and I felt the sauce was a bit watery. As it cooled down though, the sauce thickened up and it was absolutely delicious. You know one of those meals where you are full, but it's in front of you and it's so good that you can't help but polish the rest of it off. My husband had the rigatoni bolognese, he thought it was great too. We also got complimentary Limoncello shots to celebrate. As we were leaving, the summer bugs were starting to make an appearance for the time of the evening. Also as we walked to our car, a man in the kitchen wearing a mask and what looked to be washing dishes kept watching us. We waved to him and he was super thrilled to wave back. We drove 45 mins to meet a few friends who are from all over the state. The restaurant is warm and inviting. The owner never even offered a smile when we entered the restaurant - -1 star right there. I hate a restaurant whose owner is just not that invested - I expect you to at least smile and welcome me to your establishment. They describe their menu as 'rustic Italian' but it's really NOT an Italian restaurant. Mike - the bartender - wasn't friendly at all. In fact - he was rude, apathetic and overall just sour. He seemed annoyed we were just grabbing a drink while waiting for the rest of our party. Asked what we wanted and when I asked for a cocktail menu, essentially rolled his eyes and grabbed one for me. Second moment inside a new restaurant - definitely minus another star. Our party arrived and we were seated in a back corner of the restaurant - perfect for our lively group. Our waiter Jon was great. Attentive and came back to check on us multiple times. We had the scallops wrapped in bacon with lobster sauce, shrimp wrapped in bacon and a few folks also got soup to start. Everything was delicious. For dinner - I got the veal dish - veal was OK. Not that much flavor. Sauce was decent but not exceptional. Spinach it was served with was awesome. Risotto was dry, not creamy, and not amazing. My husband got the pasta dish with filet and mushrooms. That was DELICIOUS. The sauce it was served with was so tasty - rich and full of flavor. Desserts were OK but uninspired. Visited La Foresta several times. The restaurant on the inside and bar is very nice, outside patio for dining. Being the only "dining" experience in town, the bar for decent food is set low. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, on special, aged angus strip, and the lobster in vodka sauce over angel hair also on special. Stuffed mushrooms were not bad, steak was over cooked and flavorless and the lobster in vodka sauce over angel hair was horrible - horrible as in yes got sick. The vodka sauce was red, with a touch of cream hardly vodka sauce, we sent it back and basically received rinsed lobster meat and heavy cream with butter over angel hair. The cliche you get what you pay for here clearly does not apply, if you are asking fine dining prices then please provide fine dining cuisine. Honestly the best part of the meal was the bread and chopped gardenia salad they offer when you sit down. Advice go there for a drink, they occasionally have live entertainment- save your money and dine elsewhere. Shame, shame, La Foresta. Went to this restaurant this past Valentines Day. I was told that they had a special menu for the day. I compared this special menu to their menu listed online. The ONLY difference between the two menus was the huge hike in prices. Example - Calamari appetizer went from $23.00 to $28.00. All entrees' prices were higher, some by $8.00. This restaurant took full advantage of people who, during these hard economic times, were going out for a special occasion. Hope you enjoy your profits from that day. Went on Sunday at 6. Super hot day so we didnt sit outside but it looks super inviting out there. Went inside to bar. Seats for 2 already intermittently spaced out. Televisions on without sound, perfect for us. Bartender John was very nice and made recommendations without being overbearing. Had a great red sangria, not too sweet. Hubby had a beer. Water was offered and great bread with a caponata type dip was delivered. The avocado salad look good as it was delivered to other tables and I asked for salmon to go with it. It was huge and good But needed seasoning. Salmon was great with crisp skin. Hubby had some oysters and the lamb. All was very good and served in a timely fashion. Went here for the first time with my parents and loved the experience and the food. My parents had been multiple times and raved about it so we were excited to try it out. We sat out in the deck which had a great ambiance and the inside had a great old Italian style vibe too. The food was tasty and the portions huge. 4 of us easily had left overs for another meal or more. They came out with warm bread to start and we weren't disappointed the remainder of the meal. My family and I had dinner here this past weekend. In a word, it was superb. As a local resident I've watched how this restaurant has adjusted to the pressures of the pandemic. Where lots of other restaurants opted to shut down, La Foresta moved to an exclusively take-out operation. I bought dinner for my family several times, and was never disappointed. The quality I'd grown used to as a regular customer before the crisis continued. But then, over the last several weeks, I saw the owner (full-disclosure, we are friends), Francesco Lulaj, begin to make significant improvements and modifications to adjust to the "new normal." And wow -- am I impressed! A new deck stretches across much of the front, covered with a full tent. String lighting and beautiful landscaping elements everywhere you look. All top notch, and amazing. As if that wasn't enough, he also made extensive improvements to the parking lot and repainted the entire outside. Everything is beautiful. So, as I mentioned, we went there for dinner on Saturday evening. I brought my father for, you guessed it, Father's Day. We were seated at a table for four near the center. We had a very familiar waiter, Frank, who is always attentive and takes pride in his work. He helped us select appetizers and we ordered drinks. We had the Avacado Salad, the presentation of which is always impressive given that it is shaped in a tower mold. My father and I had the Caprese Salad and my wife had the Calamari. (Frank asked whether she wanted peppers in her calamari. When she hesitated, her happily brought the peppers on the side, which I thought was classy and very accommodating.) The bread basket featured their own (I think) ciabatta, served warm. With, of course, generously-sized bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Our entrees were all to die for. I had my go-to favorite of Veal Madeira. I've grown fussy about that dish, but somehow it keeps getting better every time I order it at La Foresta. The others had a New York Strip Sirloin, Poached Salmon, and a new menu item: the hot lobster roll. (Lots of delicious claw meat in that!) Incidentally, they've introduced a new summertime menu to complement the outdoor vibe of the deck that features shoreline favorites like Chowder, Stuffed Clams, Mango Shrimp, and Lobster Mac & Cheese. The back of that smart menu features a selection of brilliant, perfectly-paired wines like Conundrum White and Summer Water Rose. You get the idea. The wine was superb. (I ask you, is there anything better on this Earth than a Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017?!) But, dessert may have been the high point. I had a very rich chocolate mousse (the proper name escapes me), my wife had an amazing lemon sorbet, my daughter had a dense flourless chocolate cake, my father had a New York-style cheesecake, and somehow a fifth dessert landed on the table that we all took turns enjoying: a two-layer (white and dark chocolate) creme brulee. The presentation of all of these were superb, and Frank made sure we all had fresh napkins and forks for dessert. (I always consider that the sign of a good waiter working with great restaurant management.) The weather was superb with a slight breeze in the air, ever-popular Charlie (the retired Marine) crooning familiar sing-along songs from the far corner of the deck, and the constant scent of multiple potted flowers adding to the comfort of the summer evening. And oh yeah, that Caymus. I can't wait to go back to La Foresta, where Francesco's experience and talents as a restaurateur are on full display. Me and my husband was sitting at the bar. It was Mother's Day they were not busy at all. We wait at least 20 min. Lady came up to us saying we were waiting but still there is no service. On the other hand prices are way to high. It's not worth it. One more thing I guess it is not necessary when you go in to the restaurant you will see the Ferrari right front of the restaurant. We love La Foresta. From Tuesday Burger Night, to take out, it's all VERY delicious! We dine there almost once a week. As transplants from NYC, we love our takeout. My husband orders the gnocchi which are light, and delicious pillows. I get the Bolognese that is hearty and good for 2-3 meals. Covid is a bear, so I'm adding a star to make it three. The menu is a very nice rustic Italian take so you won't find your favorite Parmesan on the menu. Braises, slow roasted dishes, seafood and pastas dominate. It's a nice menu with burrata, meatballs and many other delicious options. Our meal was nice if not expensive, the service was subpar and we were only visited at the table 3-4 times (no chance to order a second round of drinks as an example) by our server. The unforgivable error was the long hair in one our dishes. It happens I know. It's unforgivable when you look into the kitchen window from the parking lot and see the culinary team without hats or other head covers. At the prices you charge, this should never happen. This was an overall great experience. I went with my family to celebrate my sister's college graduation. The food was great and our server was fantastic (I can't remember his name unfortunately... he was a new server, but absolutely lovely). We had a reservation so we were able to sit on the deck while the weather is still nice. I would've given it 5 stars, except for the fact that the owner was a bit rude to our waiter... so it was a little uncomfortable (even though our waiter was amazing and did nothing wrong). Their food is tasty but a little pricey. Our favorite thing here is the pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe - but honestly it's incredible cold. I'd recommend taking it for leftovers because the sauce is super runny when hot. It's much more flavorful cold when the sauce is thicker. This is the third time I've given La Foresta a try and the third time I was so incredibly disappointed that I had to take photos. I wish I took pictures of the other meals but below is how unbelievably inconsistent and falsely advertised their food is. You NEVER get what they post or what you pay for! I'm so blown away by this and I can't be the only one! How can you post photos of this mile high burger with fried onions and then give a customer something SO completely different?!? I never have a bad meal at La Foresta. Their espresso martinis are a favorite and the calamari appetizer is very tasty! They've done a great job adapting to the COVID guidelines and built a beautiful outdoor dining deck. Looking forward to dining again soon. Total lack of COVID safety! I watched the owner and a customer remove their masks and stand 1 foot apart to have a conversation. The same customer then walked across the full outdoor seating area without a mask to hug an employee. Another employee sat at a small 4 top table with customers and removed his mask. Our waiter removed his mask to have a glass of wine with a table of guests. I appreciate the fun family atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff but we need to remember that we're trying to prevent the spread of a deadly virus. Things have changed. The owners actions on fathers day was embarrassing. He shut down the pizza oven, took away the seasonal menu, and raised the prices dramatically off of the regular menu. So this place was interesting being that I grew up in the town and before this place was transformed to a italian resturaunt and wine bar, it was a popular country Christmas shop known as "the Holly loft" and it brought back some memories :) The resturaunt was indeed beautifully designed but there's always a "But" always.... It is very crammed in the loft area, a bit uncomfortable and overly warm. The acoustics need work especially in the loft area where we were seated and also the dinner music in no way matched the ambience or theme of the cuisine, it was all over the place and we found ourselves laughing trying to figure out what was playing and why lol. I ordered the Pappardelle alla Foresta and it was very delicious! Dinner was delivered a bit slow but our waitress was great. We went on a recommendation from our son's friend. Very lovely spacious outside covered dining. Good service. Food was good. Prices obscene. Two apps, 2 pizzas and 2 desserts. A half bottle of wine. 2 sodas. 1 iced tea. 1 coffee. 1 espresso. 1 baileys. $200.00 with tip. The stuffed mushrooms were a special appetizer. We didn't ask the price. Be sure you do on specials. $23.00 and they weren't Psychedelic mushrooms. I didn't tell my husband until 2 days later because I knew he'd be mortified. They were good. But I make better stuffed mushrooms and I won't charge you $23.00. The shrimp pancetta was very good but also pricey. That was on the menu so we knew it was $19.0o. We ordered a large cheese pizza and a medium with half pepperoni and half sausage. They charged us $4.00 per topping though we only got the topping had we ordered a full pepperoni or full sausage. I questioned it and they removed one of the charges. Though they were perplexed how to do it. Evidently people pay $8.00 for $4.00 worth of topping and don't question it. The espresso gelato was absolutely delicious. The crème brûlée was served in a deep cup. It was good but I wouldn't order it again. Overall the restaurant is very nice. The service was good though they do not pour the wine and I do not tip on it if you do not pour. But on a $170.00 bill before tax we still left a $30.00 tip. The restaurant was not very crowded. Vacations? Or just way overpriced? We will go back but have entrees and the gelato. That will still be a hefty price tag. But we did like the atmosphere and the food overall was good though not up to the prices they charge. read more
