Cute place sort of off the beaten path. I didn't know until we got there that they are connected to SoCo Wine, which used to be in Wallingford. It's a bit far for a regular visit, but if you're in the area it's definitely worth stopping by. They've got good selections of beer on tap, which I hope to see them continue to expand.

    This is the place!

Barrel House is a brewery with so much character! I'm so happy I discovered it! You're guaranteed to make new friends and have a great time here. We sat at the bar, Amanda was our bartender. I wish we knew ahead of time that they also serve food here. I would have much rather ate here, then where we did. I got a blackberry sour, which is actually sourced from another brewery, it's just my kind of beer, so tasty. Later I got Tart Monkey! Another great one! They have plenty of outdoor seating and games for those warmer months. They also produce their own wine. I went to the bathroom and there was a picture of Jason Momoa encouraging proper hand washing, if that doesn't do it, what will? They had some sad looking Poinsettias left over from Christmas with a sign that says "Poinsettia Trauma Center" you just have to laugh. There are plenty of board and card games available to play. They also have these miniature people sitting on the edge of a glass, we had a fun setting up various scenarios with new friends we made here. What a fun place, with so much to do here. I can't wait to go back to try their food, wine and outdoor fun!

Outdoor sipping on beer, wine, cider, Prosecco...and live music on Saturdays. We were greeted with a friendly smile by Chris. The indoor bat is small but incredibly quaint. The outdoor has lots of seating and has table side service. Amanda runs around making everyone happy. We had the Isotta Manzoni sparkling rose. Perfect sipping on sparkling rose. Amanda said they wanted to open a comfortable neighborhood bar for all people. Well they accomplished that!

We managed to hit Frank Pepe's and Sally's on our New England summer holiday, and Sally's was easily the best of the two. While the Connecticut style overall didn't entirely meet the massive hype for me, my daughter absolutely loved it--in fact, Sally's was her single best bite of the entire trip! The only reason it's getting 4 stars instead of 5 is that while it was very good, it wasn't earth-shattering, nor did it quite reach the heights of places like L'Industrie in NYC. We ordered the burrata pizza, half pepperoni. The sauce was packed with flavor, the burrata is always a total hit, and the pepperoni cupped perfectly to hold all those rich, flavorful oils. The crust was great--charred beautifully on the edges but a little moist and wiggly in the middle, heavily reminding me of Da Michele in Napoli. They also conveniently provide red pepper flakes, oregano, and Parmesan on the side so you can fix it up to taste. The ambiance is classic and cozy. It's a smaller establishment with booth-style tables lining both sides of the room. Because indoor seating is limited, you should absolutely expect to wait in a long line unless you plan ahead. We lucked out by timing our visit right between the lunch and dinner rush, meaning we snagged a spot in their dedicated parking lot and were seated immediately with zero wait. To top it off, the service was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. The amazing staff kept us constantly updated on our pies and created a genuinely fun, happy atmosphere throughout the meal. It's easily the best pizza we had in New England!

Mid, sellout tourist pizza…read more I never had a good pizza from Sally's even before they sold out and took the corporate path like pepes. No pizza is worth a 2+ hour wait in line wrapped around several blocks. In response to people complaining about the way the staff talks to you - its just the way they talk. Connecticut people and Italians have a natural abrasive tone that you can't take super personally. I think the vast majority of negative comments are from out of towners but as a lifelong Connecticut native, I never was a fan. Pizza is always unappetizing and tasteless. Modern any day.

That's the downside and I would give it 3.5 honestly because of it. Service was alright, our waiter wasn't bad, but he told us pizza will be right out and we still waited 20 minutes. All we ordered was a small firebird pizza. Sally's apizza describes it as "Mozzarella, Sally's tomato sauce, oven roasted chicken, diced sweet and hot peppers, onion" The flavor is really good and I do like how thin crusted the pizza is. Next time I would like to try the meat specialty pizzas. Last time we got cheese and pepperoni and it was good. The pepperoni is a but greasy but it's expected.

I wanted to give them a second chance. Sometimes businesses have bad days and I don't like to judge based off of one experience unless it's super bad. Well, this time was worse. Ordered the chopped salad. All you could taste was dressing and it was soggy and swimming. Barely any meat. Then the pizza came. One half had pepperoni and hot honey and the other had meatball and ricotta. The pepperoni side was literally disgusting. Like the salad, it was completely drenched in hot honey and sickly sweet. It was pooling on my plate. You couldn't taste the sauce, cheese, and toppings. Speaking of the sauce, there was little to none, had no flavor, and it was canned. I know canned sauce when I taste it. This was especially shocking because Sally's is known for their sauce. I'm very disappointed because I usually love the sauce at Sally's l, but this wasn't it. And then there's another problem: the pizza came out burnt and cold. New Haven style is slightly charred, not BURNT. It wasn't just the crust; it was also the undercarriage. See the photos I attached. It also took 50 minutes from the time our order was placed to get our one pizza when the restaurant wasn't even at half occupancy. Service was terrible!! We weren't even offered red pepper or parm with our pizza and weren't asked if we wanted dessert. Not like we wanted to stay after that mess, but it would've been nice to be asked. Our server was never near our table and it took a long time to get the things we wanted. We felt completely ignored all night. I feel like this is totally understandable on a busy night, but the place wasn't packed by any means and there were only a few tables occupied. We had to wait an extra 20 minutes after we finished our pizza before our server came around again and just handed us the check and walked away without a word. Not coming back.

So, when I clicked into Sally's website, I was bowled over to see they now have SEVEN locations with ELEVEN more on the way, including Garden City, NY and Boca Raton, FL. That's pretty impressive. Sally's thin crust New Haven style pizza is a state treasure and I've always enjoyed it wherever I've had it. And today, I had a few slices of their fantastic pizza in a new location for us -inside the West Farms Mall near Jordan's Furniture of all places. Our lunch experience was great, starting with Bianca...our exceptional server. She was so outgoing and attentive, and checked back on us three times without ever being intrusive or an annoyance. We had a simple lunch, splitting a salad and a ten-inch pizza. The Wedge Salad ($14.75) was a big portion of three big iceberg lettuce wedges, charred tomato, Grana Padano cheese, crispy pepperoni, red onion, and a creamy Italian ranch dressing. We decided to skip the grilled bread croutons. What a nice salad! Super fresh lettuce, tasty tomatoes, a healthy sprinkle of pepperoni crisps that reminded me of crumbled bacon, and a great creamy dressing. Our 10" pizza (also $14.75) came with two toppings and we added meatballs and onions. It was thin crust New Haven style perfection. The sauce, the cheese, the cardboard thin crust, the toppings -everything was great. Late in our meal, a young father and his son came in and sat down in front of us. The boy seemed to be 5 or 6. Bianca impressed me again with the way she interacted with the boy, engaging him in conversation, and just being so nice and sweet with him. Well done, Bianca, Well done, Sally's.

The crust, flavor in each bite, the variety of toppings, and everything you want in a slice of pizza was there. It is a busy spot, but they definitely had the people to keep things pushing and our waitress was still attentive to us. We ordered a pizza with onions and hot cherry peppers as well as a margarita pizza (if a pizza place can't do a cheese pizza or margarita right, not the spot to eat). The ONLY problem I had was something was falling off the napkins, not sure what it was, and we didn't notice it until the end. It seemed to be from only one stack of napkins, but couldn't tell since it was too late by the time we noticed. If they're cheap quality napkins, definitely should replace, especially because it could have fallen all over the pizza. Again, that was the only downside, but life will go on nevertheless - and it's in a fight to take the #1 spot for pizza place in my book.

We arrived on a Monday around peak dinner time, but there was essentially no wait (apparently uncommon according to my friend -- just a delightful consequence of dining at a college town during the summer). We split a medium pizza (1/2 elote mexican street corn and 1/2 bbq brisket), proving to be more than enough for two plus a more than ample amount of leftovers. Recently, I've gravitated toward thinner pizzas, a far cry from the typical Detroit (foccacia-esque) style pizzas I used to prefer, and BAR's pizza is akin to a flatbread yet very thin, another fallen angel to the GLP's. The undercarriage boasts a brilliant crust, almost cracker-like. However, it should be noted that the pizza is indulgent all the same. The elote pizza is quite possibly the most memorable, unique pizza I've ever had; it arrives almost crimson-red with a generous layer of corn and takis atop. It's still incredibly well balanced despite the hodgepodge of varied toppings. It's hard to pick a favorite between this and the bbq brisket though; while one is incredibly unique the other is simply sumptuous, nothing pedestrian about either of the two. The service is also impeccable, almost rivaling that of southern hospitality. I always thought Californians were friendly but something is in the air every time I visit New Haven. Incredible!
