"Imitator, intimidator, stimulator Simulator, eliminator" (Eminem) If ten state of the art golf simulators are your stimulators, you'll love a visit to Back 9 Social. And your visit will not be handicapped by a lack of gastropub like food and drink. Their golf simulators are very impressive and combine radar and camera technology to faithfully recreate some of the best courses in the world, including St Andrews, Pebble Beach, and 120+ others. A professional organization I belong to held a gathering there last night and had a great time. We ordered and paid for our drinks through their big bar through a QR code, but you can still pay the old-fashioned way with cash if you prefer. We had plenty of their pizzas which were quite yummy. Our golfers had a blast and I should point out that although some of the other customers I saw actually brought their own set of clubs, Back 9 can hook you up with their clubs for men, women, lefties, righties, and kids. And of course, plenty of tees and balls to whack into their high-definition screens. The facility is gorgeous, the golf simulators were amazing, the staff was helpful and friendly, and it was a very enjoyable experience. read more

This location is super fun and well-decorated, offering good bar food and a full bar. We had a great time celebrating a birthday, and the service was quick. read more

This place is a lot of fun, and we genuinely enjoy coming here, but our experience with management on multiple occasions has really put a damper on the whole establishment. We completely understand that the facility has every right to monitor alcohol consumption and prevent inappropriate behavior. Nobody wants people getting sloppy or disruptive, and we respect that. However, there's a much more professional and respectful way to handle it than what is done. We are unsure of her name, but the female manager present made us uncomfortable as she was constantly staring at our group throughout the evening instead of simply communicating expectations directly. The alcohol restrictions are also entirely ridiculous- I specifically was told by the bartender that I was being watched for alcohol consumption after having 2 Coronas in a time span of 1 hour and 45 minutes. The restriction on alcohol itself is not the main issue -- it's the way it is handled. We have felt watched and punished despite the fact that nobody in our group was loud, inappropriate, or intoxicated on multiple occasions. I also want to note that the bartenders have been spectacular and are always very nice. This is specially about the manager and the way she acts towards paying customers. When you're spending over $200 on the simulator alone, a little courtesy and respectful communication would go a long way. We really do like this place, but experiences like this make us hesitant to come back. read more

Always a fun time at Back 9 social, been here many times, very lovely staff, some severs even remembered us and we haven't been here in almost 6 months!! The service for drinks is very fast, and you can order on your phone and it comes to your table. Drinks arrived in less than 5 minutes I was very shocked at how much their speed has increased. The drinks were very very good and the specials were phenomenal. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the lemon drop shots we ordered even had a sugar rim, I appreciate the attention to detail. The food is also very well plated and very good. They utilize Trackman as their software for the simulator which in my opinion is undisputed as the best for casual players and it also has an app that you can use to track your stats, I only go to simulators that have trackman it is that superior. It is $60 an hour per bay, which can be beneficial when your in a party but smaller parties you are paying a decent penny, but this seems to be very consistent across all simulators. The ambiance is very typical for your indoor simulator, they definitely have more space that others so coming in December seeing the Christmas decor was a nice touch. The only issues I have is that I can see wear and tear on the equipment with a lot of marks on the screen which are very noticeable when playing, and of the many simulators I have played this is the first time I've seen this kind of wear and tear. The other issue is that the screen kept glitching and was showing double everything and the screen kept going in and out, not enough to worry about or cause a stink but when your paying a premium price and depending the size of your party can be more than it cost to play 18 holes on an actual course I'd expect proper working equipment when it's all you have. If I could give 4.5/5 I would but 4/5 due to the equipment. As stated before I believe it should be well maintained when it's the entire business model. Please invest money into a new screens every year or two. read more

Food is really good. We enjoyed the Philly Cheese Steak slider/taco and the pretzel. Beer menu is limited but good. I know my golf stats from my club Trackman and these machines were off. Not saying I am a great golfer but I was hitting the ball into the screen and I know in real conditions it would go better. That is fine. We had a couple hour work meeting to prepare for this year and golf was just something to do while we discussed plans. Service was inattentive but mid afternoon on a Wednesday might be expected. The bar would have been better if there was a bartender too. Ordering on the app just did not cut it. Nothing came in a hurry. There was a bartender on duty, we just saw him entering and leaving. When we wanted to order at the bar he disappeared. Oh well. I guess the bar doesn't matter here because it doesn't add to the bottom line of golfing for 2 hours. (Said sarcastically). read more

Back 9 Social - Golf bay - Sports Bars Near Me

I'm not a golfer by any means, but I went to Back 9 Social recently and had a great time! Advertised as CT's largest virtual golf facility, this spot is located on Route 5 in Wallingford, right across from Walmart. Reservations are recommended, but you can also walk-in and if there are no bays available, you can wait at the bar or tables/lounge area. You can make a reservation in advance using their website. They have 10 bays to choose from, and you can reserve from 1-4 hours, depending on availability. Once you're there and checked in, one of the staff members will get you set up with the virtual golf software. You can bring your own clubs, but they also have men's and women's sets available if you don't have your own. Once you're setup with the software, you can start playing! Food and drinks can be ordered via a QR code. There's also a full bar that you can visit. The virtual golf software gives you a bunch of different options for play, from playing a traditional game of golf to fun games and more. For example, I played a game where I had to try to aim the ball at different cars in a junkyard to make them explode. To eat, I ordered the Philly Steak Rolls and Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard Dipping sauce, and both were delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole place has a cool vibe inside. Overall, a great spot to hang out, whether you're an experienced golfer or a total newbie! read more

What a great local spot! We've been here a few times and it delivers. The inside is a really cool! They have golf bays on the outside with a bar and high tops in the center. On our late visit, it was decorated really nicely for Christmas. The food here is excellent. I've had the burger and the chicken sandwich (fried); both very good! My wife had the salad with grilled chicken and excellent as well. Even the chicken on the salad was cooked perfectly; honestly would have been good on it's own. We've had the pretzels each time and they were delicious. The service is always good. Very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visits here and plan on coming back to explore more of the menu. read more

My first reaction walking in was wow. The ambience was beautiful with perfect lighting and plenty of space. The food was great, and our server Michelle was so patient explaining how everything worked since it was our first time. My friend and I had a great time playing, chatting, and enjoying ourselves. We'll definitely be back, might even make it a monthly spot. read more

I held an event for work and reserved a couple golf spaces and a lot of appetizers. The staff was so welcoming and helpful making sure everyone understood how to use the golf simulator. The food was great! Everyone had a great time and I would definitely book here again. read more

Whether you play golf often, or were just playing for the first time like us, Back 9 Social in Wallingford is a great place to enjoy the sport. The restaurant is lined with golf simulator bays that can be reserved for a max of 12 people (no minimum) for as little as an hour or as long as you want! Their food and drinks were great, and Back 9 Social is really the perfect marriage between golf and the restaurant industry. read more

DO NOT SLEEP ON BACK 9 as just a "golf" simulator location! The food is OUTSTANDING. The "Royale" might just be the best burger you ever have! The beef & chicken tacos are juicy and delicious, the fries are crispy and perfectly salted as well. The Cocktails are top notch and the the ambience around the bar is chic & upscale. This is exactly the type of place that Wallingford has sorely needed for soooo long. read more

Back 9 Social - The "Royale" - Sports Bars Near Me

We saw the reviews saying this place had "outstanding" food and a gorgeous bar so we were sold! As soon as we walked in I was completely blown away. First off, had no idea it was an indoor golf range (so great for date night). Walking in felt like walking into a museum. It was so clean with a great aesthetic. Drinks first, we started with an espresso martini and their Rainbow Room (basically a cosmo) with a citrus bubble on top that was really cute when we popped! My second drink I ordered a Pacific Punch and it honestly tasted like a winter style pina colada (if that makes sense ). I see myself sipping this by the fire in a beautiful vacation spot. A pina colada with fall spices. It was so delicious! For food we got their nachos that had refried beans and beer cheese! We were licking the cheese up with our fingers it was so good! I'm Mexican so refried beans on nachos is a huge PLUS! A great appetizer. We shared a mixed green garden wrap with fries. Fries weren't that impressive but the wrap was very flavorful. Never thought I would order a salad wrap but glad I did. Happy we came in! read more

This is a wonderful little bar and restaurant that my coworkers and I recently had a party at. The food was spectacular! The fried dumplings were cooked to perfection and were delicious with or without the dipping sauce. The mushroom pizza had a very unique flavor because the sauce was made with miso paste! Finally I got the Italian chicken sandwich and the pesto mayo was delectable and tied all of the other flavors together! The waitstaff are all very professional and friendly; we had a great conversation with Chris in particular. Also, since the restaurant is golf themed, they had areas with big screens where you can play virtual golf. We didn't try it, but it looked very fun! My friends and I are definitely going to come back here and try the game enjoy great food some time in the near future!! read more

Food and Service for good for the event space tuu to pe and size. Mixed drinks are pricey though so stay with the Beer if you can.

The drinks were really fun and the experience was great.. if you have a small group the time goes by very quickly especially because when they are taking your order/explaining the set up it adds into your time. There are TVs to watch sports and the bar is great. read more

Literally the best burger in town! Last night I didn't have time for golf (sadly) but stopped in for a bite to eat and a drink with a friend. I forgot how easy it was to order and be served. Before I knew it I was having the best burger this town has to offer. I would call it a high end Big Mac. read more

Back 9 Social - Royale Burger - Sports Bars Near Me

This place is a hybrid, indoor golf and restaurant - which is good to know in case you are only looking for a restaurant I liked the service and the food was good. Not a huge selection of food as it's not the establishment's priority. The place was clean, and dimly lit, likely because of the surrounding entertainment stalls for golf. They are accommodating, as they can substitute items on the menu. The highlight was the beers on tap because I wasn't there to play golf. read more

Looks like it'll be a good bar/lounge for a beer or cocktail after work. Very nice space. Location is a bit challenging if you're not watching for the sign. Giving it stars for the overall potential this spot has for sure! I ordered a burger and a Buffalo pizza to go. Burger came with some very very good fries. The burger was seriously salted-out and I like salt. Love that it comes with exactly what I like on a burger but too bad I couldn't eat more than few bites. The "pizza" (flatbread) has potential but we were not fans of ours. I think it'd be great with about 1/2 the sauce soaking it but good flavor profile if you can get past the incredibly mushy base. Had one piece and my co-worker had two but then we tossed it. I'd order the most basic one you can find, like the "Marguerite", but I'll probably avoid these next time I come-in. Fries were definitely the highlight! Get 'em. Hope they do well, it's a cool space and the golf looks fun as h*ll. read more

Of all the indoor golf places around, this place is very nice. Bar and food is good. The service staff is great. They do make you feel welcome and glad to be there. Very helpful and attentive. As for indoor golf, while I like how big the bays are, the place is already showing signs of age and needs attention. This is absolutely not cheap, so I expect excellent playing conditions, just like on a real course. I'm not a big fan of golf simulators anyway and find most function worse and less accurately, the closer you get to the hole. Putting is non-existent. It's just fun to hit some balls over the winter, but I'll stick to the course ASAP. I actually like hitting the practice games better than the actual courses. Good for socializing with friends, but simulators bare more resemblance to a video game than actual golf. Have a drink and a burger and you'll be happy. read more

Great atmosphere and delicious food. Equipped with Trackman golf simulators they really though out every aspect from noise canceling bays to the latest ordering technology. Staff was friendly and attentive. Only criticism I have is the temp in the building was fairly hot once you started swinging a golf club. read more

Great spot to play a little indoor golf with friends. The simulation systems are top notch with plenty of options. The crew is attentive and the food ordering system works great. I recommend the cheesesteak egg rolls and hot wings or cauliflower. Good selection of beers. Food is a bit pricey and they NEED to add pitchers of beer/soda to the menu for large parties. read more

Good food and service. The Back 9 is enjoyable and well priced. Everyone in your party will enjoy it

Great atmosphere and service. Food is perfect for a day of virtual golf. And the drinks are a hole in one!

I was excited to find a place that seemed like it would fit the bill for good food, fun for kids, and delicious/yummy cocktails. To order food/drinks, you scan the barcode and order via your phone. Service was super prompt! The kids enjoyed their food and my chicken wrap was delicious. This time we did not rent a section to play golf as we were heading to a show at the Oakdale after but I'm already looking forward to going back and trying out the virtual golf area! read more

We really enjoy the vibe of this place. The decor is clean and fresh. The bar is beautiful and the staff is really nice and engaging. They have high end bar food and we've tried everything from burgers to salads. All have been good and consistent. This place is phenomenal, even if you do not golf (me!)... The food is OUTSTANDING and the bar is gorgeous. Friendliest staff ever. My friends who have tried the golf simulation say it is the closest thing to actual real life golf you can possibly imagine, so seems like the solution to cold weather golfing! You need to get to this place! I'll be back for sure. Wish they would open one closer to me in Avon or WeHa! read more

The golf was fine but then came the ordering fiasco of QR codes and disengaged staff members. First I asked a staff member to order some drinks and was told to use the QR code but when it was glitching. They grudgingly made us some drinks. It was weird and the drinks were not cheap. Then I tried to order a chicken Caesar wrap with a side of french fries and a Michelob ultra. I had to get the manager involved to place the order. I had to give her my iPhone, and she kept on saying that the app was glitchy, and this never happens and it finally went through after 15 minutes of nonsense she never apologized. And went about her business like nothing happened. It was very strange. Plus the clean up staff were annoying taking things away before you're actually finish eating. This business model what design buy some computer nerd. read more

This is the nicest indoor golf simulation we've ever been to. Very nice lounge vibe, huge screens. The VIP suite is super comfortable with a TV as well- very worth it.
