5/19/26 around 8:30pm going for dinner. Manager, maybe owner, denied our service animal as a service animal. He stated only blind people have service animal. I tried to explain ADA rules to him. He became abrasive and dismissed my statements, claiming he knows all the rules because he has a blind uncle. He is a big guy and was rather intimidating but in any case we were not going to stay here... and it appeared by his body language he wasn't going to let us stay anyway. He was extremely rude and ignorant plus hostile. He behavior needs to be corrected. This business is not in compliance with Federal law and is openly hostile to people with disabilities with service animal, a well trained dog. He followed us out of the restaurant, still angry and hostile. Very strange reaction. Arms folded and then waving us away angrily. We were already walking away. I think he didn't like to be corrected. Who knows. No one needs this. read more

It is with heavy heart that I give this venue such a low rating. However, I came to this rating as follows: I wasn't allowed past the front door due to harsh comments from establishment (service) and I cannot comment on ambiance or food that I could observe or order and possibly enjoy. Arrived and asked for a table for 2 and mentioned we had a service dog with us. Hostess said she'd check and left. Suffice it to say, the hostess returned with a "gentleman" who indicated our companion canine was NOT a service animal. He went on to say that his uncle was blind and had a service animal, therefore, my animal was not a service dog. When my partner and I tried to explain to him that service animals were not just for blind individuals, he loudly went on to say that he knows ADA rules and this was not a service animal. He did not ask what service was performed by this dog. He appears to be ignorant of actual ADA rules. Service animals are a great option for those of us that may otherwise have difficulties traveling. This dog has saved me many times. Service animals are defined by ADA as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. read more

This is a wonderful addition to the town. The food is excellent real Italian and delicious. The prices are also reasonable and they have a happy hour. The lunch special had plenty of options consisting of soup or salad, choice of pasta or entrée, and dessert for $21.95. I can sum this restaurant up in one word: amazing. We went here the day before Valentine's Day for my daughter's birthday. We all had delicious meals linguine and clams , salmon over broccoli rabe and beans and shrimp scampi over spinach. Bring your appetite! Portions are a decent size first we ordered stuffed zucchini flowers which came with four very large stuffed (with mozzarella) pieces. The waitress came back several times to check on us and refill our drinks. I had lemon drop martinis and they were delish! When we ordered dinner we have Carbonara which was so light and tasty I was so full from. The plate size I can't wait to eat it tomorrow! We also had lobster ravioli which there was a single one left and he said they are so light and perfectly cooked. The other dinner was Veal La Piazza, the plate was huge! It was filled with moist tender veal and mixed in were pieces of lobster. Would totally get that again! Even though we're stuff we had the chocolate mousse cake. That was so light and fluffy and tasted great! The bar was hoping with people coming in and out the restaurant area was lightly lit for nice ambiance. Wow it was our first time at this Italian restaurant and wow so happy we tried it. For appetizer, we had a fresh seafood salad a nice size portion, and very fresh seafood . For the entrée , we ordered stuff veal with mushroom sauce it was cooked perfectly the mushroom sauce was outstanding so so tasty . And for my entrée, I ordered the Sea-bass over spinach it was very flavorful seasoned perfectly and a great size portion it was delicious . They also came out with a hot Italian bread and olives. I made a reservation for four people on a Friday for 6pm. We were promptly seated and served water and given menus. For starters, we shared a caprese salad - it was huge! Definitely shareable, or can even be an entree for one person. Were given bread and olives, as well. I ordered the zuppa de pesce. It was another big portion . I ate about half. It was good. Everyone had to wrap their food up to take the other half home! The prices are more than reasonable for the portions - and everyone loved their food, so the quality was good, too. One friend had the chicken parm, another had a chicken Caesar salad and the third had another chicken dish. I had a gingerbread martini that was unique and tasty. The service was good. We stayed quite a while catching up, but were never rushed. We really enjoyed our meals and time here and would return, and would also recommend it to others. read more

This is the second time I've been here and I really like this place. I took my friends here last night. Their first time. I had the chicken parm and my friends had the pasta tartufo and the stuffed chicken. All three of us enjoyed our meals a lot. A great place to catch up with friends or for a date night! We went to catch up with friends during the holiday and the service was great and the food was good. They have a deal on Mondays and Tuesdays where you can get a three course menu including the appetizer the entrée and a dessert for $30 per person. There's also discounted alcohol on Mondays and Tuesdays for a date night. The pasta is delicious and large portions and the seafood is also really good. They also have Italian desserts and homemade cannoli and tiramisu. Would recommend and I would definitely go here again to catch up with my friends. Parking is street parking. I came here on a Monday, I'm visiting from Maryland so I can't speak to the other reviews that said there are better spots in the area. I will say very few places are open on Monday for some reason so I was happy to come here to celebrate my mom's birthday. Given it is a Monday there was plenty of street parking, but I imagine on weekend this could be more challenging. The ambiance is beautiful, staff friendly and attentive. If you aren't into crowds come during the week like I did. We sat in dining section and I can see how on a packed day it could be hard to hear someone else. Music wasn't very loud, my mom didn't even notice it was on until we were almost done with our dinner lol. Maybe it's louder on weekends. Food is delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the themed St Patrick's day spritz but the server was happy to take it back and bring me something else. I think this place is worth coming to, but if you don't to be a crowded atmosphere come on a weeknight. You won't be disappointed. Average price for drinks $11 and up, average price for appetizers were $18 and up, and the scallop entree was in $38 range. They don't do happy hour, at least not yet. Couple last minute details I almost forgot. They did pack up our food for us which was nice in sturdy containers. Also, my uncle is handicap and requires motorized scooter or wheel chair and I have to say from the looking at layout and entrance it doesn't seem handicapped accessible. They could possibly open one of the closed doors to allow for entry but dining area is tight so I really can't see that being feasible. read more

I was visiting Wallingford and stumbled across this place online while looking for Gluten free food for lunch. Sat at the bar. The ambiance was nice. The service was simple and easy. Light lunch crowd so they were not too busy, but they should've been. The food was delicious. Had the lunch special where you get a soup or salad, a pasta or an entree, and a desert all for one price. I was pleasantly surprised that I ate my entire house salad, because I'm usually not a fan of simple house salads but the dressing was tasty. I opted for the Sea Bass Milanese with spinach. It was one of the best fish I've had in a long time. I'm here every quarter for business and will slip this place into my must eats while I'm there. You should too! read more

We had a great dinner at La Piazza last night. The scallops were delicious, seared and paired with spinach and a generous serving of potatoes. My wife had the sea bass which she loved. Wine and drink options were abundant and highly tempting. Service was both friendly and efficient. Wait staff at La Piazza knows how to hustle. We were offered expertise with specials, standard menu and drinks and should be tipping accordingly. We will certainly be back. La Piazza is in demand. We arrived early on Saturday evening and were seated promptly. By the time we left there was about 12-15 people waiting to be seated. The only drawback, and a slight one, is the ridiculous television and football spectacle in the bar. I would recommend the owners make up their mind between sports bar and fine dining. My party should have read the room when we walked into this establishment but I hope our experience will service as your cautionary tale that there are more quality places to spend your hard earned money. When we were looking at the menu our waitress made it clear our appetizers and entrees had to be ordered together because the kitchen was stressed. We got calamari, $17.95 for previously cooked and rubbery calamari. Some bonus points because there were tentacles. For the entree, two of us ordered the chicken parmigiana, we asked to have vodka sauce instead of marinara and we swapped penne instead of linguine. Another order the MP halibut dish. When the bill came, the halibut was $50.95 and there were two miscellaneous $6.99 charges for VODKA SAUCE. The entree itself being $23.95 brings this to a little under 30% UPCHARGE for a sauce swap. The waitress took all the blame for not telling us and she removed it from the bill. The charge stated it was for the vodka sauce, not even for the sauce and pasta swap. While I give her maybe 50% of the blame for this asinine charge, this is way more on owners/management for 1. thinking this is okay 2. not training staff to warn customers 3. charging that much. When my group chatted about this experience we agreed somewhere between $2.50-$4.00 was a fair upcharge but after that it is bordering on criminal. read more

Great addition to Wallingford. It was my birthday and Chris our server was fantastic. Attentive and amazing. I had the lobster ravioli. Very tasty. My mom had the linguine with clams. My dad had the chicken and mushroom dish, and boyfriend had the bolognese. Everyone liked their meal. Only critique was the food was a tad salty. Portions large. Leftovers were amazing. Ceasar salad great. Supposedly this restaurant is in the same family as La Lupa, Adriana's and Il Gabbiano which definitely makes sense.... same large portions but I think La Piazza surpasses the other restaurants. It's too bad the back isn't open as well because it is a bit tight in there but the food and service make up for it. Chris brought dessert for me that was delicious and light. Tiramisu. So nice. After hearing amazing things about La Piazza, we knew we had to come check it out! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, especially the bar area. So many great options on the menu, and they had such fun drink specials for March! We started off with the fresh seafood salad, filet mignon carpaccio, and cold antipasto for appetizers, all of which were delicious! You can taste the quality in everything, and the homemade pesto on the meat and cheese board was so yummy. The pistachio encrusted salmon and the shrimp & scallop linguine special were fantastic too. They went the extra mile making us a heart in our foam for the cappuccino, and their homemade desserts were to die for! Servers were professional and attentive. The restaurant renovation is beautiful. Love the chandeliers in the dining room! Our waitress Alexis was very accommodating and courteous. Her service was exceptional. I ordered the branzino with olives , capers and cherry tomatoes with sautéed spinach and golden baby potatoes. It was a special . It was delicious! My husband ordered the bolognese which is a dish he orders virtually every time he eats at an Italian restaurant and he thought it was right up there with the best he ever had. ! The restaurant was nice, clean and quaint. Our server was very polite. The food was very good and I had the lobster pasta. Probably the best lobster sauce. I've had anywhere around here. Chock- full of lobster meat. My wife had the Seabass, which had a type of lemon sauce, which was delicious. For an appetizer, I had the Capri salad. Service was quick but most of the servers who helped us (probably 4 out of the 5 different women) were pretty rude and couldn't be bothered to crack a smile. When we got there, they immediately told us we only had an hour to order and eat because they needed the table. Then proceeded to rush us at every turn. Seems like a fire hazard if I'm being honest. It was also extremely loud, we could barely hear each talk across the table. This is NOT a family-friendly place. I travel to this area a lot and am always looking for good restaurants. What a fabulous choice this one was! From the amazing bread served with olive oil, olives and parmesan cheese to the HUGE delicious entrees (you can get two meals out of one entree!), this restaurant was well worth the visit. Everything was homemade to perfection and excellent. And the cocktails - the sparkling elderflower cocktail was so good! This will always be my Italian comparison whenever we go out for Italian. We ended up here very last minute and based on a Google search. So happy we did. They had warm bread on the table and olive oil , grated Parmesan cheese and olives shortly after we arrived. The waitress promptly took our order, and answered any questions / recommendations we had. I had a red sangria which was excellent. The food came and it was fantastic ! Food was fresh and the portions were HUGE ! I got the arancini balls and they were in a vodka / marinara sauce I believe and the eggplant rollatini ( both were chefs kiss ). My boyfriend ordered the surf and turf, steak was seasoned well and cooked to his liking and lobster was fresh. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant was clean, not loud to where we couldn't have a conversation and everyone was friendly. My friend recommended this restaurant and we had a great meal and drinks. On Tuesdays there is an optional fixed price menu with three courses for a really good deal so I chose that option, which I would highly recommend. I will definitely come back here. Wow, I do not even want to write this because this may be a hidden gem... or maybe everyone knows about it, not sure. Called last minute on Easter Sunday ( I know, obnoxious) and was met with the kindest woman on the line who said to come on in! We loaded up the kids and headed down there and were welcomed with bunny ear headbands, so cute! The staff is on point, started immediately clearing the table of glasses so the kids do not break anything and brought them all water in plastic cups with to go tops and straws. Amazing. The bathroom was clean and close by which is great with kids. The food came out fast for the kids and they all loved it. They had a special for wine and Caymus was reduced from $180 to $120 so we opted for that and she came out with a 1 liter special 50th anniversary bottle! So, after reading mixed reviews, we needed to try the place for ourselves. We had 7pm reservations on Saturday night, when we walked in the place was loud and super packed. We were seated right away. The dining room is large and packed with too many tables. I expected that by reading the reviews. We were seated at a small table in a corner, which felt crammed. We ordered drinks, I had the sparking elderflower cocktail, which was delicious. For apps we had the buratta and arancini, both very tasty. For entrees, I had the rack of lamb and my BF had chicken parm. I agree with another review that the chicken is super flat, but that's the way he likes it, so he gave Overall, the food and service were on point, but there's definitely too many tables crammed in the dining room, which makes it super loud and difficult to have a conversation. And, they stated blasting house music over the speakers at 8pm. Kinda strange, I assume the place turns into a bar/ club after the kitchen closes? Nice place. Great bartenders and servers. Mediocre Americanized Italian food. Soup was decent but on par with a Progresso canned soup. Arancini, rice was a little hard and not fried crispy. They're always packed so they are doing something right. If your wallet is a thick elastic band wrapped around a wad of $1 bills with a $50 on the outside, say "gabagool" and think ordering a bottle of Caymus makes you a wine aficionado then this is the spot for you. read more

Being an old fashioned "UP" Martini snob I am very critical everywhere I go, usually I send them back a few times before they get them right. Every-time I order my "Up Martini" at La Piazza it is spot on hats off to the bartenders thank you so much for never disappointing me! There is not a bad seat in the house whether you want to sit in the bar and catch a game or in the dining area with friends and family it is just a great atmosphere. Now onto the best part if La Piazza the food! Just Amazing is what comes to mind! I have tried something new each time I have been there and I can't tell you what I love more they are all so good! I have had the Rack of Lamb and they melted in my mouth, the Lobster Pappardelle which was absolutely amazing, most recently I had to try the Pork Chop Calabrese simply because my Nonna used to make it when i was a young man.
