Chrsitine M.

We went here the day before Valentine's Day for my daughter's birthday. We all had delicious meals linguine and clams , salmon over broccoli rabe and beans and shrimp scampi over spinach. Roasted fingerling potatoes and a beef appetizer. The staff was very friendly and prompt the service was good we had a bit of a wait for our food but it as extremely busy our room we sat in had 3 birthday party groups . Definitely make reservations we sat right away. The prices were very reasonable the food was delicious and great staff .. Enjoy Chris M

Veal La Piazza

Bring your appetite! Portions are a decent size first we ordered stuffed zucchini flowers which came with four very large stuffed (with mozzarella) pieces. The waitress came back several times to check on us and refill our drinks. I had lemon drop martinis and they were delish! When we ordered dinner we have Carbonara which was so light and tasty I was so full from. The plate size I can't wait to eat it tomorrow! We also had lobster ravioli which there was a single one left and he said they are so light and perfectly cooked. The other dinner was Veal La Piazza, the plate was huge! It was filled with moist tender veal and mixed in were pieces of lobster. Would totally get that again! Even though we're stuff we had the chocolate mousse cake. That was so light and fluffy and tasted great! The bar was hoping with people coming in and out the restaurant area was lightly lit for nice ambiance. Our waitress who we've had before was very attentive and came back frequently. Parking , we parked on street and didn't have any issues finding a spot. Lastly make a reservation it helps! Thanks Sabrina great place!

Wow it was our first time at this Italian restaurant and wow so happy we tried it. For appetizer, we had a fresh seafood salad a nice size portion, and very fresh seafood . For the entrée , we ordered stuff veal with mushroom sauce it was cooked perfectly the mushroom sauce was outstanding so so tasty . And for my entrée, I ordered the Sea-bass over spinach it was very flavorful seasoned perfectly and a great size portion it was delicious . They also came out with a hot Italian bread and olives. Ambiance is casual The restaurant is bright and very clean. The staff were very friendly and on top of everything. I am looking forward to going back soon .

I made a reservation for four people on a Friday for 6pm. We were promptly seated and served water and given menus. For starters, we shared a caprese salad - it was huge! Definitely shareable, or can even be an entree for one person. Were given bread and olives, as well. I ordered the zuppa de pesce. It was another big portion . I ate about half. It was good. Everyone had to wrap their food up to take the other half home! The prices are more than reasonable for the portions - and everyone loved their food, so the quality was good, too. One friend had the chicken parm, another had a chicken Caesar salad and the third had another chicken dish. I had a gingerbread martini that was unique and tasty. The service was good. We stayed quite a while catching up, but were never rushed. We really enjoyed our meals and time here and would return, and would also recommend it to others.

A great place to catch up with friends or for a date night! We went to catch up with friends during the holiday and the service was great and the food was good. They have a deal on Mondays and Tuesdays where you can get a three course menu including the appetizer the entrée and a dessert for $30 per person. There's also discounted alcohol on Mondays and Tuesdays for a date night. The pasta is delicious and large portions and the seafood is also really good. They also have Italian desserts and homemade cannoli and tiramisu. Would recommend and I would definitely go here again to catch up with my friends. Parking is street parking. I would also recommend reserving for larger parties. They also have a bar area where they have sports playing.

I was visiting Wallingford and stumbled across this place online while looking for Gluten free food for lunch. Sat at the bar. The ambiance was nice. The service was simple and easy. Light lunch crowd so they were not too busy, but they should've been. The food was delicious. Had the lunch special where you get a soup or salad, a pasta or an entree, and a desert all for one price. I was pleasantly surprised that I ate my entire house salad, because I'm usually not a fan of simple house salads but the dressing was tasty. I opted for the Sea Bass Milanese with spinach. It was one of the best fish I've had in a long time. I'm here every quarter for business and will slip this place into my must eats while I'm there. You should too!

St Patrick's day margarita

I came here on a Monday, I'm visiting from Maryland so I can't speak to the other reviews that said there are better spots in the area. I will say very few places are open on Monday for some reason so I was happy to come here to celebrate my mom's birthday. Given it is a Monday there was plenty of street parking, but I imagine on weekend this could be more challenging. The ambiance is beautiful, staff friendly and attentive. If you aren't into crowds come during the week like I did. We sat in dining section and I can see how on a packed day it could be hard to hear someone else. Music wasn't very loud, my mom didn't even notice it was on until we were almost done with our dinner lol. Maybe it's louder on weekends. Food is delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the themed St Patrick's day spritz but the server was happy to take it back and bring me something else. I think this place is worth coming to, but if you don't to be a crowded atmosphere come on a weeknight. You won't be disappointed. Average price for drinks $11 and up, average price for appetizers were $18 and up, and the scallop entree was in $38 range. They don't do happy hour, at least not yet. Couple last minute details I almost forgot. They did pack up our food for us which was nice in sturdy containers. Also, my uncle is handicap and requires motorized scooter or wheel chair and I have to say from the looking at layout and entrance it doesn't seem handicapped accessible. They could possibly open one of the closed doors to allow for entry but dining area is tight so I really can't see that being feasible.

We had a great dinner at La Piazza last night. The scallops were delicious, seared and paired with spinach and a generous serving of potatoes. My wife had the sea bass which she loved. Wine and drink options were abundant and highly tempting. Service was both friendly and efficient. Wait staff at La Piazza knows how to hustle. We were offered expertise with specials, standard menu and drinks and should be tipping accordingly. We will certainly be back. La Piazza is in demand. We arrived early on Saturday evening and were seated promptly. By the time we left there was about 12-15 people waiting to be seated. The only drawback, and a slight one, is the ridiculous television and football spectacle in the bar. I would recommend the owners make up their mind between sports bar and fine dining. Not everyone shares the caveman desire to bark at referees, screens and teams.

I've been to some pretty good Italian restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, and yes, Connecticut. But none of them have ever compared to the food you eat in Venice and Rome, until I tried La Piazza. The food is excellent. The portions are more than generous. The service is exceptional. And paired with their diverse wine selection, the meal here is excellent. Over the buzz of clientele eating and forks clinking away, you could almost pretend for a moment that you were sitting in on a street near the old Roman theater.

Great addition to Wallingford. It was my birthday and Chris our server was fantastic. Attentive and amazing. I had the lobster ravioli. Very tasty. My mom had the linguine with clams. My dad had the chicken and mushroom dish, and boyfriend had the bolognese. Everyone liked their meal. Only critique was the food was a tad salty. Portions large. Leftovers were amazing. Ceasar salad great. Supposedly this restaurant is in the same family as La Lupa, Adriana's and Il Gabbiano which definitely makes sense.... same large portions but I think La Piazza surpasses the other restaurants. It's too bad the back isn't open as well because it is a bit tight in there but the food and service make up for it. Chris brought dessert for me that was delicious and light. Tiramisu. So nice. Thanks Chris and La Piazza for making my birthday dinner special.

After hearing amazing things about La Piazza, we knew we had to come check it out! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, especially the bar area. So many great options on the menu, and they had such fun drink specials for March! We started off with the fresh seafood salad, filet mignon carpaccio, and cold antipasto for appetizers, all of which were delicious! You can taste the quality in everything, and the homemade pesto on the meat and cheese board was so yummy. The pistachio encrusted salmon and the shrimp & scallop linguine special were fantastic too. They went the extra mile making us a heart in our foam for the cappuccino, and their homemade desserts were to die for! Servers were professional and attentive. I'll definitely be keeping this spot in mind when we're in Wallingford Center!

"Imitator, intimidator, stimulator Simulator, eliminator"…read more(Eminem) If ten state of the art golf simulators are your stimulators, you'll love a visit to Back 9 Social. And your visit will not be handicapped by a lack of gastropub like food and drink. Their golf simulators are very impressive and combine radar and camera technology to faithfully recreate some of the best courses in the world, including St Andrews, Pebble Beach, and 120+ others. A professional organization I belong to held a gathering there last night and had a great time. We ordered and paid for our drinks through their big bar through a QR code, but you can still pay the old-fashioned way with cash if you prefer. We had plenty of their pizzas which were quite yummy. Our golfers had a blast and I should point out that although some of the other customers I saw actually brought their own set of clubs, Back 9 can hook you up with their clubs for men, women, lefties, righties, and kids. And of course, plenty of tees and balls to whack into their high-definition screens. The facility is gorgeous, the golf simulators were amazing, the staff was helpful and friendly, and it was a very enjoyable experience.

This place is a lot of fun, and we genuinely enjoy coming here, but our experience with management…read moreon multiple occasions has really put a damper on the whole establishment. We completely understand that the facility has every right to monitor alcohol consumption and prevent inappropriate behavior. Nobody wants people getting sloppy or disruptive, and we respect that. However, there's a much more professional and respectful way to handle it than what is done. We are unsure of her name, but the female manager present made us uncomfortable as she was constantly staring at our group throughout the evening instead of simply communicating expectations directly. The alcohol restrictions are also entirely ridiculous- I specifically was told by the bartender that I was being watched for alcohol consumption after having 2 Coronas in a time span of 1 hour and 45 minutes. The restriction on alcohol itself is not the main issue -- it's the way it is handled. We have felt watched and punished despite the fact that nobody in our group was loud, inappropriate, or intoxicated on multiple occasions. I also want to note that the bartenders have been spectacular and are always very nice. This is specially about the manager and the way she acts towards paying customers. When you're spending over $200 on the simulator alone, a little courtesy and respectful communication would go a long way. We really do like this place, but experiences like this make us hesitant to come back.

Our server was knowledgeable of gluten free options on the menu, which was great. They start every table with potato chips and a yummy aioli, truly addicting! For food, the filet mignon was perfection. A previous time I came, they had shrimp and scallops in a saffron cream with wild rice and market vegetables and it was DIVINE! The menu does change so that dish wasn't listed this recent time that we went. It would be amazing if they brought it back as a permanent dish!!! For drinks, I loved by Buzzin in Bikini Bottom cocktail! It is my favorite! My fiancé liked the Negroni and Julep as well, but loved my drink above those. I'd definitely recommend going to Six One Nine for a date night or dinner outing!

I was in the area on a beautiful day and decided to pop into a new-to-me local spot for a drink…read more That's how I ended up at New England Cider Company. It's tucked inside an old industrial park. If you're not looking closely, you'll drive right past it. Outside, there's a casual setup with a tent, whiskey barrel tables, and some umbrellas, which sounds nice in theory, but the grass really needed a cut. It kind of took away from the whole outdoor vibe. I was planning to sit out there, so that was a bit of a letdown. Inside was a pleasant surprise. It's much bigger than it looks from the outside. The bar is right at the entrance, which made it feel like a high-traffic zone, so not ideal for lingering. There was a private party in the main room, so I headed back outside to enjoy the sun. Now to the cider: I asked for 2 samples and ended up with the cider that I didn't actually choose, but hey, I'm not one to make a fuss so I went with it. The cider I wanted was actually pretty tasty, so I might return just to give the menu another try. You know how some ciders are sweet and yummy? The one I got was the kind that tastes sour but has a higher ABV. Still good, but my goal was sweet and yummy. Service was fine but not overly warm. Nothing bad, just not memorable. Would I go back? Sure, on a really nice day. If they had live music, I'd absolutely give it another shot. There's potential here, especially for cider fans, but it's not quite my go-to yet. They did have a very cool bathroom sink. Points for that!
