    Crispy Maple Brussels Sprouts

Was in the area and their lunch menu looked interesting so made a reservation on OpenTable for 2:00pm and went for a late lunch. When we arrived they said that they were no longer seating in the main dining area (even though they had taken our reservation and lunch is supposed to be available until 2:00pm) and we could only sit in the bar area. Didn't think it was a big deal so we went ahead and sat at the bar and started looking at the menus that had been left there. When the server came over, she took those menus away and gave us the lounge menu which has a much more limited selection. That was annoying as the items that we had wanted to try were no longer available to us. So perhaps because they wanted to start the cleanup of the main dining room a little early, we couldn't order the items that had been part of the reason to come to the Heirloom. We ended up ordering the Lobster Toast (which was ok, wasn't too much to it), Crispy Maple Brussels Sprouts (very good) and the Heirloom Fries (not bad). Overall, a disappointing experience.

Burger that was small in proportion to bun and marginal quality. I've had better burgers at a fast food place.

Should have looked at the reviews BEFORE going. Local family said let's go here, it's good. WRONG so disappointing, they won't be back either. It started with the server going to seat a party of 4 at a 2 top, that should've been the first sign. Server was horrible, we asked for lemons, twice, finally we went to bar to get them after 20 minutes. She took our order we didn't see her again until 15 minutes after food was dropped off......then she brought the catsup after we were done eating, at that point drinks were empty long before she came by. Had to track down another server to get the check and cash out, because we never saw her again. Several other patrons were also having to walk up to other people to get their checks. Severe lack of training and unprofessional attitudes. Our lunch guest wanted an omelette, but with peppers instead of mushrooms and the server said the chef is really particular about his food and he doesn't allow changes. That speaks volumes about this restaurant. Slow service, slow kitchen, over 1.75 hours for a marginal dining experience.........and can't order what you want? The arrogance of a largely empty 3 star rated restaurant is laughable.

Heirloom at The Study is a super cute restaurant with gorgeous decor that makes it feel a bit fancy (and very instagrammable). I had the blueberry buttermilk pancakes, which were good but forgettable, especially for the price. Staff was really sweet and welcoming, but honestly, the vibe outshined the food.

We stopped in to try their brunch menu and really enjoyed our time there. We were a party of 9, and they were able to accommodate us in a separate room which made it nice. For my meal I had the burger and my wife had the eggs and prosciutto. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Heirloom in New Haven has a beautiful, quiet setting with large windows that brighten the space. Our server was kind, but the food was disappointing. I really wanted to love it, but the flavors and dishes didn't live up to the atmosphere.

Heirloom, located inside The Study at Yale, transforms local produce and fresh ingredients into truly delicious dishes. I started with the burrata and the lobster toast featuring their signature lobster salad--both were outstanding. For dinner, I had the braised chicken tagliatelle. I expected a sauce, but it was a drier preparation, with the flavors coming from the mushrooms and herbs. As soon as I saw the chocolate cake on the menu, I knew I had to try it--it was rich and indulgent, served with salted caramel ice cream, Nutella, and a white chocolate center.

Had brunch here yesterday for a friend's 40th birthday. Food was decent and the service was phenomenal. The vibe is very modern and sleek, perfect atmosphere for college students and young professionals. I had a passionfruit mimosa, oysters and lobster toast. For dessert I split an apple crumble with a friend. As a note, this restaurant adds anchovies to the top of their Caesar salads, just so you're aware (in case you don't like them). At the end of the meal they brought us out some dessert to celebrate our friend's birthday.

Absolutely fell in love with Heirloom when we visited for brunch! The sun soaked space was exactly the vibe we were looking for, and the food was phenomenal. I couldn't resist the French toast with butterscotch bananas, and my husband enjoyed the prosciutto and eggs. We were so glad we splurged for an appetizer with the warm ricotta dip with truffle because it was SO good! The server convinced us to get dessert, and I'm so happy he did! It's easy to see why they're so famous for tneir apple doughnuts. Great drinks and very attentive service. It was casual yet classy in there. It was easy to tell that everything was locally sourced because the food was all so high quality. I would love to go back for lunch or dinner!

What didn't we get at Heirloom. The fresh oysters are a really good size and the mignonette was the perfect acidity. The braised beef cheek entree over the risotto was a huge standout to us! Our server was very nice and attentive.

I came for breakfast, and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I had the avocado toast, which was fine, but underseasoned, and the egg was a bit undercooked (even for sunny side up). The portion also seemed quite small for the price, and the side "salad" was just a pile of dressed greens that weren't even cut into bite-sized pieces. I watched two other tables pick at the pancakes, and the potatoes that I saw looked completely bland and unseasoned. The service was also surprisingly slow, even though they didn't seem very crowded. On the whole, three star food at four star prices gets two stars from me.

I arrived in New Haven at nearly 9PM on Super Bowl Sunday. The streets were quiet and my stomach was growling. The kitchen was close to closing but they graciously gave me one minute to put in an order. I chose a burger and was glad I did. It was a very good burger! I returned on Monday night for drinks with a friend and received the same courteous service from the bartender. I'd gladly return to Heirloom for dinner or cocktails.

Came for brunch yesterday and it was okay. The service was hit or miss. Everyone was nice it was just a little weird and when it was slow, it was slow. I love that they have a separate brunch menu which I was having a hard time finding in downtown New Haven. We got a few things to share so let's get into that. First the Warm Ricotta: it was ok. I think it was missing an acid or something to it. It was just one note, and lacked a punch of flavor. The Eggs Benedict: also alright. Got it with lox which was good, and so was the egg, but I didn't like the bread it came on. I think it was a biscuit... it was just so soft and wasn't a great texture for the whole bite. The side salad it came with was also a little sad, but I liked the dressing. The pancakes: best dish we ordered. Great size and tasty. Cooked well. We got blueberry which I wish there were more in there. I recommend getting a side berry bowl because that's what we did so we could have more fruit with it. We ended up pouring the rest of our berries on top which was much better. Having said that, we actually ordered a berry and a fruit bowl. The berries were good and the fruit was ok. There were the standard honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple and grapes. The melons were tasteless but not the resturant's fault. Not a bad experience!

I really liked the place. This spot is so trendy and nicely decorated, a perfect spot for brunch. I enjoyed the food a lot! Their shakshouka was so good and the eggs Benedict English muffin tasted like pancake. Service was okay and our waiter got things done efficiently. Overall it's a great spot in New Haven and I'd come back.

Also, so that those with current disabilities can prepare themselves when going to Vandome. My family and I went to Vandome on Saturday, August 20th looking to have a great time. We were a group of 10. While going through security, a member of our party was stopped during bag check because of her Type 1 Diabetes supplies. Inside of her fanny pack was a glucometer, glucose test strips, insulin syringes, glucose tablets, and a few other essential diabetes items. At first sight, the lady looking through her bag looked at her curiously as our friend began to explain that these items were for her diabetes. Before she could get very far, the security man checking the men's line came right over with a nasty attitude and exclaimed "you have to get rid of all that." She tried to explain that these were for her diabetes and that she could throw out the syringes if those were the problem, but that she needed the other supplies. He didn't care to listen. He just kept dismissing her and telling her she was holding up the line. At one point, he even remarked "I have diabetes too, don't play that shit with me." I can't assume what kind of diabetes this man may have, but judging from his naïveté, it's likely he was referencing Type II diabetes which is COMPLETELY different from Type I and therefore treated differently. People with Type I diabetes need to regularly take insulin to survive and and control their blood sugar because their pancreas can't produce it at all. It is incurable and requires constant checking of blood sugar levels. People with Type II diabetes have more treatment options and may not need as much maintenance because their body already produces some insulin, just not enough. For some people with Type II diabetes, it can even go away with lifestyle changes. I share this because it's clear that if this man truly had/understood diabetes, he would know that our friend needed those supplies to enjoy her night. Instead, he was nasty, didn't let her finish a sentence, and wouldn't even offer alternate accommodations. Ironically, our friend had been to Vandome the week before and the security that night let her keep her bag at the front, which she thought was a totally reasonable accommodation. However, this man wouldn't offer any alternate solution other than saying, "you bring that to that car or you're not coming in." This encounter left my non-confrontational friend near tears and uneasy the rest of the night. What if we didn't have a car? Would we not have been able to enter because of her diabetes? Thankfully, she brought her glucose tablets in, but she was not able to check her blood-sugar throughout the night which made her anxious and resulted in us leaving prematurely. Federal laws prohibit most public places and programs from discriminating against people with diabetes. One should not be excluded because of diabetes or be denied access to their diabetes supplies, and should be provided with reasonable accommodations if necessary. Vandome followed none of these laws that night. If they had let her put her bag at the front like they had the week prior, there would be no problem, but it is clear that Vandome doesn't have consistent procedures for these situations, resulting in a truly unfortunate event where my friend left feeling berated, embarrassed, and discriminated against. Once again, I leave this review so that Vandome's management can reassess their procedures and train ALL their staff on the proper ways to handle these situations. Until then, I encourage all people with diabetes or other disabilities to beware.

To order of course I got the fried chicken and waffle bites. It was $15 for two pieces. I didn't want a big meal so this did the job. To drink they had a large menu of beverages with funny names. I loved the "Unusual Ducks-pect" or the "Mango Noir." I needed something nonalcoholic for the lunch hour. There was a drink called Dubai Dusk which intrigued me. It had fresh espresso, pistachio syrup, chocolate syrup, strawberry puree, and milk. I did not know if these things would all go together but it was wonderful. It had the right mix of sweetness and caffine. It also was a good mix with the chicken and waffles. I had a great meal here and will definitely come back again when I am in New Haven!

I had scoured Eater's New Haven section earlier that day and seen BAR mentioned for where to get apizza. We traveled into the quaint-ish New Haven core and parked on the street. Luckily, they had just opened, so we were seated upon arrival. We got two pies: the Clam Casino and the Portrait of New Haven. The PoNH was good. The ricotta was a nice contrast to the sausage and red peppers. The Clam Casino was worth the journey by itself, however. It turns out clams on a pizza is a great idea. Large whole clams and bacon with cherry peppers? Damned right. I wasn't familiar with New Haven brand ("apizza" as I've now been told), but the char on the bottom from the wood-fired oven is crucial at holding some topping combinations to a higher echelon than others (where it deflates others): see the other-worldly good Clam Casino versus this-could-be-better-without Portrait of New Haven. Regardless, the Clam Casino would be a go-to if I lived anywhere near here. The inside is huge. We sat in the main barroom. It was warehousey, but a pool table and picnic tables for large parties gave it a cool vibe. I enjoyed watching the bar staff have to hunch under the bar opening, which doesn't hinge up, as we waited for our discs 'o dough.
