Great happy hour! Great staff! Our waiter sang to us every time he returned! The tacos were filled well, the quesadillas were spiced well and the Mac and cheese was a good size! I would absolutely return here! Good vibes!
Great restaurant with several rooms to dine in, bar areas, comfortable seating and attentive staff. I ordered shrimp which was plump with a flavorful sauce over the shrimp. Empanadas had a flaky crust. Good portions.
Everything was above and beyond food, drink, and service wise. The restaurant has a great happy hour. The concept is tropical on this side. We had empanadas and yucca fry nachos. This restaurant shares a kitchen with the owners other more bistro concept. We tried both and they were both fantastic. Only thing it was a little confusing with both restaurant logos on the windows but you can get to either one once inside.
We recently went to Barracuda's new location (which was also our first time visiting Barracuda at all), and I think it's such a cool concept that they share the same roof as 80 Proof. They have a great variety of Latin dishes to choose from, and they nailed the arepas, Mofongo, and Lomo. Great drinks, desserts, and apps! I'm not able to compare this location to the original because I had never been, but I was impressed. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the staff makes it really easy to restaurant hop if you choose to!
Happened to be walking by on a busy Saturday night and they were able to sneak us in. For apps, we had the Jerk and Lemon Pepper wings and they were moist and juicy and flavorful! Would come back just for these. The Fresh guacamole served with fried green plantains was another great appetizer. For my main, I got the Pork Belly mofungo and the leftovers made a great omlette the next day!
Came in for night out with my husband and my cousins had a great time lots of great food this is a new place first time here at this new address was at the old l Place before. Was serviced by Sohail very nice person. Loved the music it was just a fun time.
My friends and I went to try out their Sunday brunch for the first time and made a reservation. They had live music, basketball games on every screen and it was packed. We had to wait 15 minutes for our table (mind you we were right on time) and then had to wait an additional 15 minutes to meet our server. We tried the mimosa tower (also doesn't come up to the top it's like a little over half) which then took an additional 20 minutes to even get to our table and we had to flag down our waitress to finally put it in our order. They didn't even provide us glasses for the mimosas and we got tired of waiting so we just poured it into the only cups we got for water. Their only saving grace is that the food was delicious and came out quick. Overall the service was incredibly slow, and even when half the place cleared out we still had to flag someone down just to pay. I might come again because the food was good but be prepared for brunch it's LOUD, and takes forever. Thankfully my friends and I were chatting and catching up so the time went by quickly but it's still No excuse for poor service.

Atmosphere/Appearance: First and foremost, I highly recommend that you make reservations in advance. We got lucky today. Set right downtown New Haven near Yale is this gem. Good luck with your own parking since this place doesn't have a private lot, but there are plenty of spaces on the street or structures around. It's a cozy and quaint place that can't hold a lot of people. It's almost always packed in here and the energy is through the roof. I loved it. The left side of the restaurant is the bar section with a half-wall separating it from the other side, which holds all the tables. The giant exposed ventilation that runs from the ceiling right to the floor is a super cool, modern-rustic touch. Service: Chris took excellent care of us both times that we've visited this place. He's quick with getting things we asked for, friendly, fun and ridiculously helpful. Food: So we must discuss what you probably searched to find this review... This place does NOT offer bottomless mimosas, however, if you buy a pitcher of mimosa, you can buy refills for $1.00/piece. How many you're allowed to buy is up to the restaurant. The first time we came, we were allowed to buy multiples, but the 2nd time we were only allow to buy one additional, so take that with a grain of salt. For my entrée I went with their Barracuda Nachos! These consist of yuca fritas topped with blackened chicken, pepper jack cheese, tomato & scallions served with sour cream, salsa and guacamole. You can add other proteins for additional costs. They were SO FREAKING GOOD and just different compared to traditional nachos elsewhere. I loved them. Value: A pitcher of mimosa is $20.00 and the refill is only $1.00. See the value there?! Lol. My nachos were $12.00 and it was an additional $2.00 for your choice of pork belly, steak, mushrooms, chorizo or blackened chicken. I think this place was absolutely worth it and you'd think the same. In conclusion, this place was awesome and it's a reason we've driven 45 minutes twice to hang out here. We will continue to visit this place in the future!
I really like this restaurant with a great vibe and service. Appreciate my bartender who took care of me. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and sat at the bar. I was going to get simple tacos and the bartender recommended the Arepas. So glad he did. They were delicious! Music was chill. Not like the last Latin place I went to. Really like the ambiance and vibe. I had weight loss surgery. This is the perfect solution to dinner. Serving of protein with the yummy veggies and corn cakes. I wasn't able to eat all the corn cakes because I filled up on the other yummies on the plate. I also got a skinny margarita, which was great but I needed the little bit of sweet, so I added a Splenda. Made it perfect and without the sugar overload you normally get from a normal margarita. Parking is street parking but it was fine when I arrived because it was before the evening rush. Good for happy hour. All under $20 with the tip. Free Wi-Fi . Just ask for the password. The food was really good and the price was very reasonable. I was surprised by the big portions of the food. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is pretty cool and kinda like a bar. Service was decent.
We have been to Barracuda many times. It is easily one of the best happy hours around! We tried new food for brunch and we were really impressed. This is definitely New Haven spot to be included in your Sunday brunch lineup!
I came here recently for dinner with a couple of friends. Although we were late for our reservation, we were seated as soon as everyone came in which I appreciated. Ambiance was okayish, could be better. Service was very slow, which I understood since it was Valentine's Day and a Friday. Our waiter was very forgetful and rarely checked in on us. I had the lomo saltado which was okay but would've been better if it was cooked more. I also ordered the tres leche which took 20-30 minutes to take out. A bit ridiculous for dessert but giving the benefit of doubt since it was somewhat on the busy side. Paying for our check also took longer than usual as the waiter barely tended to us and we had to ask other staff to help us out. I want to give Barracuda another try when it's less busy but hesitant to do so with the not so great service we received.

Omg. So excited to know the new location. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Keith, Mateo and Lovee. Sadly we were turned away from Olives and Oil, we had a reservation, because they couldn't sit us at a low table or booth. My husband is disabled and high tables are out. We walked across the street and treated like royalty. This amazing staff showed up and showed out. They were friendly and made great suggestions. Their energy was contagious. I felt like family Our food was ohhh so delicious. Biscuits and gravy went down easy. Can't wait to come again. read more

Saturday happy hour?! Yes please! We stopped for a quick bite and a drink before going to the movies and we walked into happy hour Saturday. We sat a the bar and got greeted right away. My sister got a classic margarita and I went for a passion fruit mojitos. The drinks gave, we both enjoyed our drinks. For our quick bite we did the pork arepas and the yuca nachos. The arepas weren't it. Didn't give at all but the pork was flavorful and the portion was good. The nachos though! Who would of thought fried yucca would be such a great vessel for nachos. My favorite was the nachos definitely will be going back for this. read more

I stopped by for a margarita and a steak arepas and it just so happened to be happy hour so I was pleasantly surprised. The happy hour margarita was tasty and the fresh lime juice made it even better. The steak arepas were just right with a just crispy outside and soft inside and smothered with a tasty marinated steak, red and green peppers and sweet red onions. I ordered a mushroom flatbread to go for my hub at home. He said that it was delicious with lots of semi sweet mushrooms (marinated in balsamic vinegar) and tasty cheese. I took my husband here for his birthday dinner. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly face and immediately seated. We immediately loved the vibes in the restaurant as they were playing some good throwback Latin music. For appetizers we had the chicharron which was perfectly crunchy. It came with beans and Arepa and some sour cream, which is not will be expected but still super delicious. The shrimp Mofongo was very moist and delicious, and the serving size was on point in my opinion. Despite having a little bit too much peppers, my husband enjoyed his chicken Saltado. He also had a coconut Mojito, which I took a sip of, and I must say it was really good. We will definitely be coming back. read more
This was the first IRL Yelp Elite event since the pandemic and it exceed expectations. We were greeted warmly by Alex, (CT Community Manager). We found a table and were quickly joined by friends and shared our Yelp info. It was nice to meet other Elites in such a chill environment. The restaurant was small and cozy. We were given a ticket for a mojito and there were several flavor options. I chose the mango mojito which was delicious and not too sweet. We tasted the beef, pork and mushroom arepas. The arepas were a small corn cake topped with meat or mushrooms. The arepas were hot, crispy and tasty. My favorite was the mushroom. The beef and pork were flavorful and tender. For entrees and apps, we tried the fries, sweet plantains, Mac and cheese, barracuda nachos which were set up family style. Everything was flavorful and delicious but my favorites were the plantains with cheese which I never had, Mac and cheese and Barracuda nachos which were made with fried yuca. For dessert, they had churros which were crispy but not greasy. They had the perfect level of cinnamon. In addition, I ordered a tres leches cake which had the perfect amount of whipped cream and was moist. To go, I got the Mac and cheese with blackened chicken to bring home for a family member, who also found it flavorful and it stayed hot for over an hour in the container. Everyone was super friendly and special thanks to Sonia and her team at Barracuda for welcoming us and providing delicious food. Thanks to Alex for putting together a wonderful event to kick of irl elite events again. I will definitely be back for brunch and to have shared apps with friends. read more
We stopped into Barracuda for Happy Hour after a day of popping around New Haven. Their Happy Hour menu is stacked with great options at incredible prices. The food was just okay. The Mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. While the steak on the Loaded Tostones was super juicy and cooked to perfection, overall the dish could have used more flavor. My boyfriend enjoyed his Sauteed Mussels and said the garlic white wine butter was "a perfect compliment." The Tamarind Margarita was okay, but I probably wouldn't order it again just because they have so many other flavors I'd like to try. The vibe was great, it was a little loud because it's such a small space, but it was still enjoyable. Our server was very friendly and always quick to come check-in despite the busy happy hour time. Because of their service, fun atmosphertheir happy hour prices are such a steal, we'd probably go back again. read more
Went to Barracuda for the first time a couple months ago and thought the food was pretty good. I really liked my tacos and empanadas. In terms of the nachos, none of us at the table were fans. There was not enough cheese, and it was kind of just not at all what we were expecting. The mussels and salads were also really good, as well as our drinks! I would consider returning! I came here for the bottomless mimosas brunch with my significant other . I made a reservation to ensure I'd have a spot saved. Went in and it was pretty empty but it filled up quickly. Moderate volume environment with great music and friendly servers. They had a wide variety of food and drink options with a full bar. When I saw the pork belly breakfast I knew that was the one. We got the Barracuda nachos which is fried yuca (instead of chips) and other toppings such as tomatoes, green onions, and a creamy sauce (not sure if it was cheese). It comes with a side of salsa and guacamole. I still dream about these I highly recommend anyone who goes here to give it a taste. It was very filling I wasn't able to finish my porkbelly breakfast. The mimosas were perfectly strong to my liking. They were not skimpy on the champagne. The refills kept coming on strong and quick. Perfect. I will 100% come back if I return to New Haven read more

Went to Barracuda during happy hour. The prices for drinks is decent. I wasn't too impressed with the food though. We ordered Salchipapas which was more like loaded French fries. Fries were crunchy and tasty and everything went well together. We got Chicharron too. I think it could have been little more spiced. The crispy Pork belly was too chewy. I would go back to try other drinks and may be some different food items. read more
An amazing place to go. The inside is quite small and crowded. It is usually quite loud so don't come if you want a peaceful conversation. The food is amazing. This place has one of the best happy hours around. The food is so cheap and drinks are like $5. The yucca fries here are super good. I always get them. The mushroom Mac and cheese is also amazing! The tres leches is amazing, some of the best I have ever had. I highly recommend coming here for a good time with friends. I'm not sure how great this place would be given COVID but I highly recommend ordering take out. The food was still hot and amazing when I ordered. read more

Late-night happy hour (M-Th 10pm-1am) is how I was introduced to this place. It is the perfect timing for when i leave work late. They have great specials during this time frame! First are the $5 margaritas, mojitos, and martini's... there are a number of different flavors to choose from cucumber to strawberry. I think I enjoyed Guava the best. My problem is that I can never remember if I like margaritas or mojitos better?? So I have to get at least 1 if each lol. And now I'm just realizing they have Martins too!!! Sounds like a party! Been here a few times and the drinks are always amazing Food specials are a deal as well. I always get the Oysters ($1 Mon-Wed only) those are definitely a good time. Otherwise I'm making my way through the happy hour menu. There are definitely some hits and definitely some clear misses. Steamed Mussels are a clear hit. The broth is Fantastic, a must try! The Nachos were also a hit. The tacos were pretty good as well. Now the chorizo mac n cheese I wouldn't order again. It was definitely missing flavor and the chorizo was somewhat awkward in the dish. The Mango pork arepa were also a clear miss. While sounding good in concept, it was bad. Pork didn't seem fresh. Overall dish was bland and the ingredients didn't mesh well. After a few bites I left it alone. But those Mussels were just so amazing that I forgot about the pork by the time I left. Overall late-night happy hour is great! Service is usually great! Sometimes it's crowded and u have to wait for seating, sometimes its slow and there's plenty of seating to choose from. But I'll definitely be back for happy hour, especially since I just realized they have $5 Martinis!!! And I'm also thinking I may want to try their weekend brunch. read more
