Excellent bartender. Very good chicken burrito, and Caesar salad. Very clean, and excellent view of the TVs.

I enjoyed my time there. The waitress was amazing. I wish I knew her name. Italian woman. The food…read morewas very good. It wasn't the best, but it was good. The burger was a little bit underwhelming but it was hot. The wings were tasty but could have been a bit bigger. The personal pizza for children's meal was a hit with my son. The Oreo cheesecake was superb. The place is very clean and quiet. It smells nice and it's a good place for dates or groups.

We are regular patrons of this establishment for years. A couple of weeks ago, I commented that…read moresomething was different. Our favorite wait staff members were not around, we did not recognize anyone and the menu changed. Something was definitely off. Long story short, the management changed and not for the better. I ordered my usual, signature salad and it was awful. Brown and wilted greens, tons of nothing and a horrible dressing. Next time, I ordered a burger. I very seldom order a burger but I know Eli's uses quality beef. Just a burger, no fries. I could not eat it. It was dry, overdone and unappetizing. I thought it was just me so I brought it home and my husband would not eat it! Today was the last straw. My companion ordered her usual wine and it was not at all acceptable. The young lady brought another glass and again is could not be consumed. Now, I've been friends with this person for 25 years+ and she has never sent a glass of wine back. Again, the lunches were awful. To the owners/management: why are you ruining a good thing? Are you not interested in keeping your clientele? Another obvious thing we noticed; Thursday lunch and no one in the bar! Empty! Vacant. Just the bartender. It's also obvious they've changed the wine list and quality of the food to save money. The only saving grace about lunch today was the lovely and helpful wait person. She was wonderful. It's all so sad. So Shameful.

    J. Roo's Restaurant is a restaurant and bar that opened in North Haven, Connecticut in 2002. It was…read morefounded by husband and wife Sal and Virginia "Ginny" Mazzaro. For close to 25 years, the Mazzaro family operated Vic's Pizza on Quinnipiac Avenue. Eventually, they had an idea to open something bigger and better with a more extensive menu. The restaurant was named for their son Jason, who goes by the nickname "J. Roo". Originally, the restaurant was billed as "J. Roo's, home of Vic's Pizza". The extensive menu consists of Italian specialties, seafood dishes, steakhouse entrees, New Haven-style pizza, burgers & hotdogs, sandwiches & wraps, salads, soups, wings, various bar bites, craft beer, wine, and specialty cocktails. In 2015, J. Roo's temporarily closed for a major renovation. The current, larger restaurant space opened the following year. My family and I recently had dinner at J. Roo's. My wife and I have enjoyed their food a few times in the past, but this was the first visit for our two sons. We were all seated at a booth in the main dining area. J. Roo's makes great wings and other various types of bar appetizers, but we were all in the mood for some New Haven-style pizza. We decided to order two medium pizzas: the "Pesto" (white pie, fresh mozz, grilled chicken & garlic pesto sauce) and the "Meatball Ala Vodka" (vodka sauce, meatballs, fresh mozz); the latter was a special. These pies were EXCELLENT! Really crispy crust, great sauces and really good toppings! Although the meatball pie was a special, J. Roo's should really consider making it a permanent addition to the menu. My wife and I washed our pizzas down with some delicious Foxon Park Birch Beer. Overall, we had a great visit at J. Roo's and look forward to returning!

Got this from a recommendation, however, it didn't live up to my expectations. The egg rolls weren't filled with cheese like I expected from the title and description on the menu. The curly fries weren't filled with the best thing to me. Fries are very hard to mess up. I didn't enjoy the flavor of the sauce the came with the egg rolls, it tasted like ranch mixed with some sort of cheese spread. My colleague had the pizza slice and it was dried out. the cheese appeared to be reheated multiple times and greasy. I would only come back here to try something else if it was my last option.
