Wanted to check out Knuckleheads since the move. My mom had been and said the food was pretty good. Got there shortly before 8 and they said kitchen was stopping taking orders at 8:30. Don't know if that's normal but luckily we were there beforehand. I thought it was decent for bar food. Got the pastrami Rueben it was a little soggy in the middle but solid otherwise. Sweet potato fries were very good, don't know if they make them or not though. My girlfriend thought less of the food than I did. I see people really like the wings so maybe that's the way to go. Went to what is apparently the "new" location and found it to be really cool, with a nice vibe. My buddy and I sat at the bar and got great service from the bar staff. The beer list was great, and had some really excellent choices, so it was hard to pick. The beer we had was quite enjoyable, and presented well in clean glasses (don't take it for granted). For food, we had burgers, naturally. And they were good! Cooked as ordered, served as requested, with good quality ingredients. The fries were tasty. Quick decision to eat out turned out to be a great option for a Friday night. Bar food tends to be hit or miss and the reviews weren't all that great but I am glad I gave it a try. I enjoyed the bang bang shrimp..but they are definitely not as good as bone fish girl, not even close. But they were good nevertheless. I had the bang bang cauliflower which was good but sweet. It was more a sweet chili sauce. I thought since they both were bang bang they would have been cooked and battered the same. Sorry I started eating before I snapped a picture. Portion size was good. It was tough to make a decision and they throw great support to CT Brewers. I went with the Brisket sandwich with spicy bourbon sauce and it was great! Good bark, moist and a good kick from the sauce. Came on a toasted and buttered hard roll to add some nice crunch to the meat. These days, attentive restaurant service is hard to find, apparently because all the good servers are all at Knuckleheads. This place is a reminder of what good food, good drinks, and good service are supposed to be. We are only in the area for a couple weeks so are trying some local spots that have good ratings. We came because of the food ratings but got so much more. I had the pastrami rueben & my husband had the patty melt with crispy fries & cole slaw. Really good food. The bartenders were super friendly & made our night enjoyable. The beer was great I had the counter weight & my husband had the downeast cider both with a shot of Jameson Orange (surprisingly yummy). Our first time taking out food for Dinner theatre was a flop! The two stars are for the pig wings which were tasty and falling off the bone tender but a bit dry and under seasoned. My husband finished all six even though he was sure he'd not manage it and said he'd have them again. We called on the order and asked to pick up for a certain time which was met with, "oh I don't know we're getting pretty busy!" Consequently when we picked up the food it was cold. And the place was pretty much empty. The poutine was poor - more fried cheese curds than fries and barely enough gravy to touch all the fries. The BBQ burger and Red Eye hot dog we're just average. The wedge salads were not a "wedge" but a "bowl" of iceberg which was ok but then don't call it a wedge but the tomatoes were tasteless and the bacon bits fake from a jar! Not what you'd expect for almost $70 without any drinks, or dessert. Oh and two of the four of us ended the night with upset stomachs so we definitely won't be back! read more

I've been wanting to try it ever since I heard the ladies over at the Nail and Wax Room raving about their food. They have the bar area and then an area more designated for dining. It's a very chill atmosphere, the walls are decorated with pics of rock stars. Our waitress was very attentive( brought me a refill on my drink before I even asked) I went with their special which was a brisket chili that came with a side of cornbread. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese because well why not. We got an appetizer of pretzels with a spicy honey mustard sauce I believe and pickles on the side. My daughter and I decided on trying this place and we ended up at 2pm being the only ones here . Great music and good ambiance. I felt a cool garage retro look with a cool "Now Playing" sign all lit up as their welcome sign . Rock n Roll photos made a stylish addition to the place. Very patient which I appreciated, because I don't like to be rushed much. He gave me his opinion on a IPA list they had and chose one for me based on the flavor I was looking for. I loved it it's a Alagash White. We both went with burgers . One BBQ burger which has cheese, onion rings and house BBQ sauce on it and the other Big Kahuna which has pineapple,grilled onions,bacon,cheese and a spicy sauce. I had to try the crinkle cut sweet potato fries . Presentation wise A+ for coolness and appearance. They made a smile face on my daughter's bun which cheered her up she had a long day today . My BBQ burger looked good and tasted just the same. Thick and perfectly medium. The sweet potato fries looked a little dark ,but didn't take over taste . I believe they drizzled honey over them which took it up a notch . My daughter never had pineapple before ,but raved and complimented the chef. She will be back on her own for another. Thirty one beers on tap is a pretty impressive stat. I had a Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter (don't judge me) 12 ounce draft for $7. You'll find Knuckleheads in downtown Wallingford, so although it has a small parking lot behind the building, you'll probably have to park on the street somewhere. Better brush up on your parallel parking skills. The interior is basically a long bar with tables in the front, tables in the back, and an adjacent dining room. They have a dartboard toward the back if that's your thing. We had a planning meeting there Tuesday night and I arrived around 6:15. Knuckleheads was pretty crowded. Their food menu is quintessential pub food -lots of wings, nachos, burgers, melts, wraps, sandwiches, plus six salads and a very cool thirteen varieties of hot dogs. We shared some health foods - a ten piece order of boneless wings (half Buffalo and half Spicy Bourbon for $10.99) and a ten piece order of "Pig Wings" ($14.99). What's a Pig Wing? Well if Dr. Frankenstein crossed a fried chicken wing with a Pork Rib, he'd have patented the Pig Wing. It was served with two dipping sauces, Honey BBQ and an amazing concoction called Acapulco Gold. The Gold was horseradish based and had a teense of sweetness hiding inside, almost like a chutney. It really surprised me at first because in no way did I expect that horseradish slap -but man oh man did it grow on me. It was great. Wow!! I tried this place during lunch because I wanted a burger and found Knuckleheads on maps. I searched restaurants and this place had good reviews and had burgers. Immediately when you walk in, you're greeted with a cool interior design and ambiance. I sat down and my waitress, Ashley, was very friendly and extremely helpful! She answered all my questions and gave me good recommendations for food and drink as she has been here for 8 years! She was a great waitress. As for the burger.... Just wow. I ordered the Steakhouse burger and after taking one bite, put it down and said out loud "wow this is incredible". I don't know if it's because I never had the type of sauce on a burger before, but my socks were thoroughly knocked off. I also got Parmesan topped tator tots which are exactly what you want from tator tots! Knuckleheads gave me great food and great service. After reading several Yelp reviews and hearing recommendations from friends, we finally made our way to Knuckleheads one Saturday afternoon. I don't know why, but I exoected a dark dive bar...it was not that! Cool modern decor and a casual vibe. We had Delaney as our server, and she was a sweetheart!! Looking at the menu, we wanted one of everything! It was a very hard decision. We tried the wings to start, spicy bourbon BBQ. Yum! Wings were perfectly crispy and well sauced. We were pretty full after eating the wings so could not go for the huge burgers this time. We got hot dogs to share, one junkyard dog, one Flyin' Hawaiian. Both were excellent, but I preferred the junkyard dog. We also got an order of sweet potato fries to share, and they were just as good as other reviewers said. They are a must have!! I was also very happy that they had Downeast cider on the tap list. We will definitely be back to try so many other items from the menu that sounded great...pulled pork Mac and cheese melt, chicken n waffles, burgers, more wing flavors! My Candy Shop Eyes and Glare went into hyper mode. I settled for a Founders Backwoods Bastard, fresh and well served. Onto the menu, "Woe" not your average. Flavors: spices, meats, sauces, vegetables, and grilled pineapple ALL creatively intermingled in a taste bud explosion! For instance, I had "The Big Jerk," grilled chicken breast, topped with jerk sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, pineapple, lettuce, tomato & Chipotle mayo. Wasn't like there was some great sporting event to watch at the time, but to be honest, the lack of any TV's at Knuckleheads would make me go elsewhere if there was a Game on. Nice variety of beers, I went with a Thimble Island American Ale (it was excellent, loved it). Ordered the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese Melt with Sweet Potato fries. Food came out FAST (almost TOO fast). Thought the melt was OK, but nothing special. Sweet Potato fries were good though. Might give Knuckleheads another try though, maybe go with the Pig Wings next time. But it seems like a place frequented by a much younger crowd then myself -- when a Motley Crue song was playing on the stereo, the bartenders were asking, "who's this" ? So to start with a drink I ordered a beer. Creme brûlée stout! Excellent! It really smells and tastes like the name! For dinner I had a Smoked Cuban melt. Pulled pork, ham, swiss and pickles with yellow mustard and mayo on grilled pressed rolls. Yes plural, it is served on TWO rolls panini style. The melt came with nice and crispy fries. Very very good! Had the homemade baked beans which were fantastic, and the mac and cheese which was also really good! I had to try the sweet potato fries from my wife and those where also goo.
