Arrived at this Irish pub on a Saturday night at 7 pm, and the place was filling up rapidly, as a local band, known to many, was about to go on stage for 8 PM I found a seat at the bar, and ordered a burger and craft draft beer The bartender was friendly, and my cold sudsy beer arrived quickly After about a 30 minute wait, the burger arrived, with a side of crispy potato chips. The burger was good, not great. I think it was a frozen patty, as it did not taste very fresh. There was an aftertaste to the burger. It was accompanied by lettuce, tomato, red onion, on a getting old soft burger, bun, with ketchup on the side. The price for the beer and burger was $22, which I thought was reasonable. Blackstones is a cute little bar in Southington. Great spot for live music. They have a variety of different bands playing each weekend. The drinks are average. I ordered a stoli raz and most certainly did not receive it. A different bartender had to remake it for me. Second one was much better. Food is pretty good. Had a wonderful first experience here, food was large portions, came out hot and delicious, and dare I say reasonably priced. The tomato bisque sent me right back to my childhood. We got there just in time for Just Below Me to come out. They played for 4 hours straight with no breaks. They were absolutely amazing. We did not eat there because we had already eaten. So this was my second time going to Blackstone to see a band. And once again, I was very disappointed. Both times. I reserved a table in advance and was told I would be able to sit downstairs. And both times we were seated upstairs in the back far corner. Always some kind of misunderstanding they said. Then we proceeded to order drinks and food. Which took forever. Very overworked waitress should have had help knowing this was a fully packed house for this event. She was neither friendly nor helpful. We had to ask twice for menus. End up going down to get our own drinks at the bar. And on top of it, the overpriced food was also very small portions and not any good at all. This will be my last time going here. And to add insult to injury, the drink prices kept changing. They seemed to be cheaper at one point and then go up a couple dollars as the night went on. read more

We had to ask numerous times for pitchers of water. Meals came out before appetizers. What really got me was the menus we were given were the wrong ones, and when me and my buddy saw Nutty Irishmen on the drink menu we were psyched! They didn't have it. Attended a group function for 50 last night and wow, were we impressed. Lots of different beers on tap and by the bottle. Twisted Tea on tap? Yes indeed. Fabulous jukebox offering everything under the sun. Super atmosphere. Our group had a buffet dinner with an appetizer course (calimari, wings, fried pickles, and stuffed bread) and an entree course (Shephard's Pie, Reuben Sliders, Irish Chicken and Potatoes. and Scalloped Potatoes. The food was stellar, really -everything was outstanding. The chef came out to check on us and see how we liked the food, he was a nice guy and was obviously proud of what he cooked for us. Our server who ran around restocking the plates and silverware was cute as a button, with a personality to match, and was very efficient. Room for improvement? It would have been nice to have more than one bartender all night. For long stretches there was just one bartender for our thirsty horde. I'll be honest, I drove up to this bar/restaurant and was very skeptical about going in. I judged a book by its cover because once I was inside, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Not only were drinks and food good, the service was absolutely amazing. The bartender Leah (she's there Thursday's and Saturday's) was very patient, attentive, and made awesome drinks. The manager Jeremy (there Thursday's-Sunday's) was also very attentive. They really go out of there way to make customers feel appreciated. As if that weren't enough, there was a patron there who was very intoxicated. Leah and Jeremy handled the situation very professionally and even bought him an Uber home. Went there on 4/27 to have a couple beers with a friend. I've been there before but not at the bar area. The wait staff was very tentative and asked us if we wanted more when we were getting low. So no complaints there. The live music they had was good too it was a 80s cover band. We didn't stay too long into the set but I liked what I heard. The issue I had with Blackstone was being overcharged on our tabs (which why I dread giving bars my card). They hit me for an extra items (and re billed me after I mentioned the issue but the higher bill was posted to my CC). As for my buddy, they posted a bill 6x more than what my buddy spent to his account the next day. I completely understand that things happen but 2 separate over charge issues in the same night for both of us. There is NO WAY we were the only casualties. Came here first on Thanksgiving night to have some drinks with friends in town and open options were very limited. Seemed like a cool spot so wanted to come back for a meal. Finally we tried on a Sunday night (during the Daytona 500). Sat for awhile and no one came to our table. Looked around for a quieter area and there was nothing. Finally went to the bar for more info and they said that all orders had to just be placed at the bar. It wasn't really a great scene for our family so we left. Instructed the waiter to split the bill but I was charged the whole bill on my debit card days later. So the Guinness onion soup is baller!!! The Boxty Irishdilla is just delightful perfect combination of mashed potato cheese chicken bacon onion and peppers and that Guinness cheese sauce just ridiculously good!!! As this was my third or fourth time attending a band night, I will say I was very disappointed that the bartender called last call almost immediately after the band stopped playing around 12:30. The tables as well as the bar were packed. I stood at the bar for roughly 10 minutes while the bartender stood in the corner cussing up a storm with a group of guys. It was very unprofessional how everyone was told that if they didn't work there they needed to get the f*** out. I have never in my life experienced such a rude and ignorant bartender. Updating my review after returning a few more times after my initial poor visit. It seems more and more that my first visit there was more a factor of having the worst waitress I've ever had, and not the place as a whole being that bad. The only recurring issue I still see there is that at some points, more than one waitress will check in at a table, leading to confusing among the waitresses. One of my last times out, my table had two waitresses coming over and taking orders/bringing food. One waitress took my credit card, and the other one wasn't able to find it. The first waitress then didn't know where it went and for a period of time, my card couldn't be located. They were very nice about it, though and was a much better experience than my first time out. The food I've gotten each time has been pretty good, and their R-rated trivia on Thursday nights is pretty fun. For future trips, I will just avoid the waitress I had my first time there, and I should continue to have pleasant experiences! read more

All 4 visits have been outstanding whether it's live music, ice cold beers on the patio, lobster back dinners or crazy mayhem St Paddy's Day- where you'd expect delays- they handled the overload famously. It's quickly becoming our new favorite place. We've already brought friends and they're in agreement and have actually gone back several times themselves and brought family. We had nachos, burgers, and egg rolls! Everything was delicious and the portions are very generous. I can't have alcohol because of my second pregnancy, but the drinks menu is extensive. The draft and bottled beers have several dozen options. Great looking martinis and drinks, including a Mule submenu. The only thing I noticed was the lighting; it's on the dim side. I had a mixed experience here on Friday. There was a cover, which is a little strange for a place so far off the beaten path. We got our drinks at the bar fairly quickly but had trouble getting the waitress's attention once we found an open table in the middle of the floor. It was very, very loud kind of no matter where you were sitting and the clientele was a little on the aged side (didn't match the music). HOWEVER... when we went to pay the tab, we were surprised to see that we had gotten quite a bit "on the house", so we aren't exactly sure why/how that happened, but it definitely made up for the noise levels and lack of attention. Sunday, September 2nd. Never in my life have I been treated so disrespectfully by a waitress! I have never heard of someone taking an imprint of a credit card and then holding onto the card until you pay. I wish I got her name but she's a blonde and skinny girl . The food was good and all was well until my friend asked for her card back a second time and the waitress snapped at her. We were stunned. Both of us are usually great tippers especially since my friend works in the service industry and also relies on tips but this is the first time in my life that I did not leave one. After she brought our food out she never came back. We had to go looking for her and found her sitting at the bar. I'm not sure what brought on the attitude but all's my friend did was ask for her card. This is our first and last time at this establishment. Very disappointed. read more

Haven't been for a stretch, went recently. New menu it seems. I really liked one of their signature burgers before, the black and blue and was looking forward to it. I think its under new management. I prefer the old way: Hardroll and crumbly blue cheese are the key. Terrible place. Go elsewhere. They are known for not paying their bands the contracted amount. This has happened to several bands that I know personally. Bartenders are rude. You can literally WAVE your money in front of their faces and they will ignore you and walk right by you so that they can go and chat with their friends. Took me literally 20-30 minutes to get a beer on a slow night. Unbelievable. Drinks are overpriced. And the last time I was there they were serving Cuervo Silver tequila out of a Patrón Silver bottle with the Patrón price tag. I drink a LOT of Patrón and so does a friend of mine so we know what Patrón tastes like. What we were served was NOT Patrón. When I informed the bartender girl about this she scoffed and walked away. Not to mention they only serve the Patrón "ice cold" so most people can't taste the difference. Oh, and did I mention this practice is highly ILLEGAL as well? Stay clear of this place. Do NOT give them your business. Run, run, run away and go elsewhere.... The Hydeaway, Friends, Groggy Frog... any of those places trump Blackstone. It's too bad because the place has potential. My friend and I went here for lunch. We walked in and there was no hostess to seat us. We waited for a few minutes before the bartender finally noticed us and told us to seat ourselves. We were the only ones there to eat besides some guys at the bar. My friend and I decided to share the Blackstone App Sampler which included onion rings, fried mozzarella, chicken tenders, mini corn dogs, and fried popcorn shrimp for $16. The onion rings were ok, chicken tenders not impressive at all, the honey mustard sauce we ordered with it was too liquidy, the marinara sauce for the mozzarella had an odd taste, the mozzarella had so much cheese it was too stringy, and the shrimp tasted like it came frozen from a grocery store. The mini corn dogs tasted like the little wieners you can get packaged from a supermarket but they were ok. Overall the app sampler tasted like it was all frozen food you can purchase from a grocery store, but not even as good. My friend also ordered the "warm Bavarian pretzel" with Guinness cheese sauce. She said it tasted like it came from a Super Pretzel box and that it was too salty. She said the cheese sauce was congealed on the top and they gave her more sauce than needed. I ordered an Angry Orchard hard cider which was $5 and in my opinion more expensive than what other places would charge. That was probably the best thing we had. I also ordered the lobster Mac n cheese egg rolls which were $10 for 6 pieces. The first piece I picked up was dripping with grease and oil. The lobster tastes frozen and the mac n cheese was most likely prepared days earlier. Cheese tasted fake. These were not proper egg rolls but fried chunks of crap. The waitress never came over to ask how we liked everything. Our bill came to $38 and the best thing we enjoyed was our beverages. The Blackstone Pub is overpriced subpar food at best. Perhaps this is a great place for drinks and live entertainment, open mic nights, or karaoke but not for food. Go spend your money elsewhere. read more

Cool new Irish pub in the neighborhood. Went here after work on St. Patricks day for a quick beer with the crew, five or six later it was still a nice place. Walking into a new bar the first time you never know what to expect and the location and exterior had me expecting very little, but this place is a real nice pub with a semi-authentic Irish feel. Darts upstairs (real and soft tip), some video games, lots of TVs downstairs and a bunch of tables upstairs each with their own TVs. Good mix of people when we were here even though it was its first week of being open. Decent selection of beers - even though it was bottles only until the kegs are installed. read more
