The food was very, very good the day we stopped by for a midafternoon lunch. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp Scampi and everything was very good/fresh. I had Veal Marsala and it was also very good. The bread they serve is Great! Our server Amelia was very nice; attentive and made sure all the food was brought to the table very shortly after getting out of the oven. This location might be underestimated at times - but it is excellent. A special event for about 70 people went off flawlessly. Set up time was allowed to bring in special items for the celebration. Prices were reasonable and food was very good. With enough time a special request was granted. A last minute request for a food allergy at the actual event was met with "no problem" and taken care of immediately. The tent used was air conditioned and the accessibility for a few folks needing easy access was excellent. The customer service is what made this event perfect. It was impeccable and met with a "can do" attitude on every small need. PS - the limoncello cake is OUT of the WORLD - it is also on their regular dining menu - a must have. Bathrooms were clean and supplied. The bill was accurate and presented when asked for. Thank you for making sure our event went off exactly as we wanted it. I highly recommend. read more

I recently went to Violis for a party and I was a little worried just by reading the reviews that the service wouldn't be up to standard and the food as well. I was wrong, first of the restaurant is huge such a beautiful place and soo clean!! I was very impressed. The location should be another 5 stars because is stunning, breath taking! This restaurant sits on a golf course and has a nice wrap around outdoor seating, which is why we choose to go for dinner . Our waitress was great besides taking a little long to grab the bill. Food is OK, great selection but mediocre taste. Lobster ravioli only comes with 5 raviolis, fried calamari was super chewy, chicken parm was average and the cabonera sauce was good but missing some ingredients that was in the menu description. Lunch menu looks good maybe we will return for lunch one day . I definitely think smoking should be banned from the outdoor patio, especially while people eat. read more

Just had Mother's Day dinner at Violi's Restaurant. First impressions are essential for first timers are a restaurant and Violi's fell a bit short here. They weren't very busy when we showed up. There were 4 of us and a little child. We were sat quickly and then it took about 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. Drink orders were placed, to make it easy we all had water. Good thing too because it was very warm in the restaurant but manageable. Another 10 mins go by and then we have our orders taken. Food came out nicely and was good. My chicken parm was tasty and real hot. No food being held. Tender and juicy. Sauce was A-Ok. Mussels were good. Shrimp was good. Everything was well cooked except the little boy's chicken nuggets which were chicken strips, overcooked and inedible. Fries were decent for him luckily. Our waitress was a bit short with us as she had to repeat herself several times. It was loud in the restaurant and my parents had a hard time hearing her. Needed to speak up a bit. The prices were way over priced for the food. Portion size was decent. I know the prices were inflated due to the Mother's Day menu but it was a little bit of an overkill. read more

Each time I've eaten here, the food has been consistently good, service has been very friendly and the glass-windowed golf course views provide a cozy, pleasant feel. Wow! This place is great! The view of the golf course is wonderful, and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Stopped in on a Wednesday night to celebrate a family member's birthday. They served hot garlic knots with oil and garlic shortly after we sat down. The waiter was very attentive and the service was excellent. I ordered the chicken parm and it was delicious. The sauce was outstanding, and the plates were served piping hot. Others ordered the Marsala, and shrimp Diavlo and all were satisfied. The prices were a little high for the portion sizes, but the quality of cuisine here was excellent. I can't wait to come back! read more

This is a one star experience at best. While I never expected the food at a Meriden golf course to be anything more than mediocre; I didn't expect that the service would be surly at best. We asked if we needed to be seated and were told to find our table. The table in the bar was rather sticky and when we got the attention of a server at long last, we were told that if we wanted a clean table we shouldn't sit on our own. The 15 minute wait for a wine list and menus was followed by a rather aggressive spray of windex and the tossing of the requested menus. The selection of an overpriced $40 bottle of wine did little to warm the feel. In short- the food indeed met the expectation of mediocre. The service was absolutely terrible. We will never return. After having a bad experience at red fox in Middletown we decided to leave and go to Violi's s . Waiter took our drink orders promptly and the food was cooked to perfection. My grandmother likes this restaurant, although she said the service has been slow from the time they went into business. It was very prompt when we went yesterday, and our waitress was very nice. However both the soup of the day (beef vegetable I think) and my chicken w/ marinara were so salty, it was all you could taste. I scraped the sauce off and the egg battered chicken was good. Grammy had their cod special and the whole meal was cold. She told the waitress when she came by after we were done. We used to go to Violis before the fire and get their specials. Always a good meal and great price. Went last night and was very disappointed. I got the special chicken picatta. Wasn't even sure if it was chicken or weal, it didn't look like a normal chicken breast. My friend got the chicken Marsala , got the chicken no vegetable or potatoes just a piece of chicken on a plate. When we voiced our concerns to the waitress she brought our comments to the chef. Chef said he was sorry but that was the "special". didn't come out or really seem to care even when we told the waitress we wouldn't be returning any time soon.My only suggestion would be not to get the special,pay a couple of dollars extra and get the regular meal read more

Worst dining experience I've had in quite a long time, would rate "0 stars" if possible. From the moment I walked in the door until the time I left I felt completely ignored for what seemed to be the regular clientele and the food was extremely disappointing. Service was just as pathetic- no host/ess, the waitress tried however follow up skills were lacking and a manager never approached the table when I sent back the food.
