Loved this place. MAKE A Reservation at holiday season. We came at Christmas time and we had to book ahead weeks in advance. The parking lot is huge and it was difficult to find a spot, ladies have your gentlemen leave you at the front door . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is decorated beautifully, not over decorated, but cozy and home like feeling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was wonderful and super friendly. They worked around every single allergy of mine and were wonderful about all of it. The food was delicious and the portions are gracious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside I noted had a little pond but honestly we didn't get to check out every detail of the place because let's face it, it's New England in December ... it's freezing cold outside and I was in a skirt.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is casual wear. I was def overdressed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Def worth a try.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Joined friends here for a Post Christmas dinner couples date; it was the perfect spot, quaint, beautifully decorated and despite being very popular, not at all noisy - we we able to speak and he heard in a normal tone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server Monica was the perfect mix of friendly, fun and perfectly accurate and informative- we couldn't have wished for better! The four of us shared the (fried mozz) spiedini appetizer which has now spoiled me for any other "fried mozz" soooooooo delicious and plenty for a party of four! Their cocktails and mocktails were perfect and generous. Our party ordered the cavatelli ( homemade pasta, with homemade mildy spicy Italian sausage) and delicious sauce; the stuffed chicken which quite honestly was one of the most amazing chicken dishes I've ever eaten - two thin golden cutlets with a mouthwatering ricotta, Gouda, spinach and sundried tomato filling - over freshly made mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. I shouldn't forget the warm, freshly baked rolls, butter and dipping oil! So good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is perfect for a date night, a group party or even a special occasion![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food and drinks are always amazing at the New Mill, and the portions are good for the price! You can never go wrong with the crab stuffed cod. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great spot for date night or to celebrate a special occasion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot is always packed, so I would recommend making a reservation.

Wow! The New Mill is my new spot! Everything was perfect including the grounds! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in was even enchanting with a garden, bridge and a mill right outside the entrance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The red bar like building has so much charm and character, it made you feel cozy and reminded me a a house similar to Snow White's.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was superb. Each staff member from hosting/greeting, our server, the manager and even the bussers were so polite and welcoming. My first time at this restaurant and it was a 10/10. They started us off with fresh bread a s olive oil. They also had a special of the short rib with green beans and mash potatoes that my daughter ordered. I ordered the stuffed cod with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Of course I had to try some of hers and both were phenomenal, I couldn't even pick which one was better! I ordered a Josh Cabernet to enjoy with my meal. The portions were generous that I packed half my meal to go and saved room for dessert. Once they told me they made a homemade cheesecake I was sold. They also had a seasonal bread pudding I could not pass up either so we had both. I was celebrating a birthday of someone who is no longer with us and let the server know and they placed a candle on the cake which went the extra mile and made this experience perfect. It was a way they went above and beyond and it was appreciated. I will definitely be back and I can't wait to try some of their other amazing dishes.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I was captivated by the warm and rustic ambiance of this restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was simply amazing. I believe they served one of the best steak dinners we've ever had. The flavors of the string beans and roasted potatoes were delicious. The steaks were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection.

It's rare to find such a well-oiled machine like New Mill. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For a packed Saturday night, New Mill had it together![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went to celebrate my grandfather's birthday and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our server, Caitlin, was super attentive and even gave my mom a great suggestion of cooking her filet mignon medium rare plus, which we had never heard of before, but it came out exactly the way my mom wanted! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every dish was delicious, and we really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's clear to see why you have to make reservations well in advance for weekend dinners here! We will absolutely be back!

The service and food was fantastic as always. This place never fails to come through. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice table with a view of the little pond[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . This place will always be my go to for a wonderful meal and experience when I'm in the area . Don't miss it for your special occasion or date night with your special person.

The New Mill restaurant has a New England country home like charm! The decore and seating area is rustic looking and feels cozy and comfortable! The restaurant is definitely a local favorite as it was fairly busy for a Tuesday evening! The server suggested their marquis appetizer: Spiedini Alla Romano (made with mozzarella, battered/fried, and served with a light tomato sauce). I tried it, and it was pretty good, but nothing out of this world! Although Broccoli Rabe was good! For the main entrée, I ordered a very nice NY strip and it was very yummy! All in all, a very nice family friendly italian restaurant with fun decor for the evening! Enjoyed the food and the wine!

    Gorgeous decorations!

What a gorgeous restaurant! My parents have been raving about New Mill so on my visit to CT, I made sure we came for dinner. The inside is decorated so adorably for Christmas! It is the definition of cozy cabin feels! The service was beyond outstanding. We were a party of seven and everyone was tended to promptly. We had some drinks and appetizers to start including crab cakes, beet salads, calamari, and broccoli rabe with sausage. All were delicious! Everyone enjoyed their entrees--I had the maple glazed pork chop and am confident in saying it was the best pork chop I have ever had at a restaurant! This restaurant embodies quality, service, ambience...all of it! I can't wait to return on my next trip to Connecticut!

This shaved brussels and bacon side dish was to die for!!

We had a really fantastic experience at the New Mill last night. We have lived in Southington for a few years now but this was our first time venturing to the New Mill. We actually received a gift certificate and I'm so glad we did. My husband and I feel that through covid, a lot of restaurants have really gone downhill and we've been having a hard time finding a meal we've truly enjoyed lately. New Mill did not disappoint...at all!! We started with clams casino. Very tasty! We've grown up on the RI shores clamming ourselves. My family has been making traditional clam casino for 60 years and these are the closest to my family's recipe - sweet and simple - clams, bacon, peppers and onions. Broil until bacon is crispy - AMAZING! For dinner, I had a 16 oz NY strip special. It was cooked absolutely perfectly medium. It was served with delicious shaved Brussels with bacon and a mashed potato cake that was the perfect accompaniment. My husband had the cavatelli with caramelized pearl onions, sliced cherry peppers and Italian sausage. Soooooooo good!!! We just thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and our time out. So so GOOD! Can't wait to come back...now if they're only consistent, we've found a new gem!!

The price for takeout for these (3) things were on the high side to not include a side salad. With that said, we were aware that those weren't included as it wasnt listed on their online ordering. We just figured the portion for both Entrees were likely larger and thats why you paid a la carte for the salad. We come back home with the takeout and to our surprise for quite a high price, the portions were small. How small, each meal fit with pasta inside a plastic container, similar to those used for Asian takeout. For any other restaurant that serves Chicken Parmigana, its always been a larger round metal dish with pasta on the side. Typically with 2 pieces of chicken. Putting portion aside as one can argue that we may have been able to find that out before ordering, the (2) entrees were not great. The Chicken Parmigana had one piece of chicken and the chicken was charred, dry, minimal amount of cheese and the both the chicken and pasta itself had a scarce amount of pasta sauce. I found myself having to scrub the side of the dish for any sauce left. The lemon bay chicken was also quite dry and unfortunately the mixture of recip (chicken, pasta and sauce) was quite tasteless. I'm not typically one to leave a 1 or 2 star reviews often, as I'd rather just not go again to the place where I had said experience but between the quality of food, price and portion, this place falls into a bit of an exception for me. Look, I've eaten at many places, if your portions are going to small for the price (and without sides), then the quality needs to EXCEED the excepted regional standard for that dish to justify that reasoning. This experience did not do that, instead we are left with half of take home container of each meal that we will have to toss in trash for Fathers Day.

Apps came out before drinks and the food was super quick overall, service felt a bit slower but everyone was still very helpful, and friendly. I had one of the nicest salads with perfectly grilled chicken and a cumin-citrus dressing. He had a terrific burger- one of the best. As I walked through the front doors, I noticed kegs alongside on the floor. This was kind of a turn off, kind of reminds me of a dive bar. So my mentality kicked in that we were going into a dive bar serving food. I kinda get the sketchy feeling. Once we were seated, and menus placed, we were served iced water A few minutes later, the server came back and took our order. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and some string french fries. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken, which came with two sides. I chose the rattlesnake beans and the creamy macaroni and cheese. Also include included was cornbread I originally wanted the street corn, as a side, but it was not available. Our lunches came quick, and my friend only ate half the french fries and cheeseburger, as she wasn't really turned on by them. The smoked chicken was fairly dry, with a very interesting smoked flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I eat about 1/3 of it. Left the rest on the plate. The creamy macaroni and cheese was out of bounds top-notch. I could've eaten this all day. The rattlesnake rice and beans were just OK. The rice was cooked pretty good, and was seasoned well. The beans had a weird taste. Now thinking of this side dish, I was hoping for raw onions to be on top, but they were nowhere to be found. It'll be nice if there was chopped raw onions to go with this. The cornbread was delicious. I ate about half of it. It was a generous slice. While the server was fairly attentive, as she only checked in to fill the water glasses and ask how lunch was. She didn't ask us if we wanted a desert or coffee. Being old folks this would've been a great up for us, but it didn't happen. I had to ask for the check. I'm not sure if I would come back. I think this might be a one and done. The vibe just didn't hit it for me. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant was clean; the silverware clean. I don't know. It just was like a funky type layout and those beer kegs kinda sent the wrong tone to me as a guest. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change and I left a $10 tip. We didn't have any cocktails or mock tails, we didn't have coffee or dessert either. From what I understand, the owner was near the exit when we left, not even a smile or a thank you for coming in...

We couldn't wait to come back. Several months later on our second visit, we arrived well before their posted closing time - 9pm. It was around 7:45pm, the lights were on, but the door was locked and the staff seemed to be cleaning up. One of them looked up, saw us standing at the door and then went back to doing whatever they were doing without bothering to engage with us. It was incredibly frustrating having driven almost an hour with the expectation of getting some delicious food, only to be ignored by staff at a time when they were supposed to be open. Many months later (giving them the benefit of the doubt that the early closure on our last visit was a fluke) we made the trip up again. We arrived to find the place was locked up and dark - again during a time when they were supposed to be open. Today I was with some friends and we stopped to have lunch at Smokin' With Chris next door. During our meal, I mentioned my past experiences with The Lab, but also said how good the food was. So, we walked over to look at the menu and possibly pick up dinner for later that evening. It was around 1:30pm, the lights were off and the door was locked. I double-checked their website, and they were supposed to be open at 11:30am. While I was on my phone, an employee came up, unlocked the door, turned on the lights and began his shift - two full hours after they were supposed to be open! WTF?! Apparently, the owners of The Lab seem to believe that their food is so epic that they can just operate their business whenever they like regardless of their posted hours. This total lack of consideration for their customers is beyond insulting. It's really too bad because the food is good, but not good enough to offset the unprofessional manner the owners are running (or in this case, not running) this place. There are way too many other great dining options available nearby that actually adhere to their posted hours to put up with this nonsense.

It is way more spacious than their previous location and nicely decorated. We sat in a nice Modular Half Moon Restaurant Sofa in the back. Felt like I was looking down upon the rest of the guests having dinner. Nice table just felt a bit like we were on display however I still enjoyed as I love the style of these tables. Our waiter I think was new and definitely did not know wine. We asked for a bottle of the Merlot, which he pronounced back to us "Mer-LOT." I couldn't help but chuckle a bit when he left the table. Someone else came and opened the wine for us and when our main server came to check on us, he grazed the side of my glass and freaked, telling us the glasses are $500 each and if he breaks one, it comes out of his paycheck. Ummm what? This stuff we probably should not know! Again, I think he was new, probably not having much experience as a waiter. He definitely needs training on how to pronounce wine! Moving on to the cheese, they used to give you a cheese board with a few different cheeses. It's a bit different now. They give you whipped butter, a few pieces of cheese (last night was Cheddar), roasted red peppers, and whipped goat cheese with a touch of honey on top and some bread. Not sure if this changes/rotates at their new location. We chose not to do the raw bar or appetizer courses (fyi those are extra). For my salad, I chose the Signature Salad (forgot to take a picture of this course). This is where things went downhill for me. I asked for no apples. He said no problem. He did not tell us they ran out of the dried cranberries and caramelized nuts which to me make the whole salad. I used to love this salad at the old location. So, when telling us the specials he did say he "thinks" they had one salmon entree left, but had to check. Restaurants run out of things, and I get it, but take that salad off the menu if you're out of 2 ingredients and the customer asks for no apples. All that we got on our salads was lettuce, gorgonzola and fried potato skins. I feel like I had French fries on top of lettuce. It was awful. Also, I'm the only one that asked for no apples and my boyfriend got the same salad I got with only potato skins and lettuce and gorgonzola so clearly they were running out of things. We then saw other customers getting the same salad lacking main ingredients. For my entree, I got the Heavenly, which was supposed to have a lobster sauce. I couldn't put my finger on what the flavor of the sauce was. It was strange. It wasn't bad, it just didn't really go with the lobster. It had a brown tint to it. The manager came over after we ate and asked us how things were, and I told him about the salad and asked what the flavor in the sauce was. He told us a crab style sauce which made sense. Boyfriend had the filet. He said it wasn't Ruth's Chris good, but it was good. Mashed potatoes were very bland. Presentation was pretty bad. Dessert they get from a third party. I had the flourless chocolate cake which was the best part of the meal. Desserts are where they have improved with the new location. They used to give you petit fours style desserts, and now they give you full size desserts. It was delicious. I really want to like this place more because I like the concept of what they do. I guess on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays the chef creates whatever he'd like for guests for $25 a head. Mystery meals. The manager said that's where the name "Adventures in Eating" comes from. Again, we had come here previously, and I had a problem the last time with the Branzino where the waitress didn't tell me it came as the whole fish. Servers are friendly here, they just aren't top notch. Food is ok.

The only minor issue was that my salad never arrived with the rest of the meal, and I had to flag her down to let her know. It was a little strange receiving the salad after I'd already finished my hot entrée. That said, she was working incredibly hard under difficult circumstances. There was a large party that decided to split their checks at the last minute, and she appeared to be handling much of the workload on her own for a while. We were seated outside, and the wind was so strong that it blew my glass of water right into my lap. She noticed immediately and rushed over with napkins, which I really appreciated. She also went out of her way to find a wine chiller for our bottle, which was a thoughtful touch. Most importantly, the food was delicious. Despite a small hiccup with the salad, the service was friendly and attentive, especially considering how busy the restaurant was. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and would gladly return.

I enjoyed the roast beef and penne alla vodka. It was an open bar, and they served quality drinks. It's a nice restaurant for big parties/celebrations. And I believe the pricing is not bad.

The greenery outside of the restaurant is so beautiful and on a beautiful day sitting outside would be a must ! I went to Viron Rondo for lunch with my family and we are glad we did. Although I want to be honest for families with little babies and toddlers. This isn't a family friendly spot. There is no changing tables in the bathroom or tables to place bags on in the bathroom. As a mother- this matters to me so want to help someone else out. The inside is huge and spacious though. The food is freshly made to order in nice huge portions!! Everything was delicious. But we did struggle to get our waitress. Service could use some help as dishes weren't removed from the table until asked. The bread that is provided is soft/flavorful and delicious !!! We got muscles for and appetizer and OmG !! So tender and sauce was so good I couldn't stop dipping the house made bread in it. My mom got the pulpo (octopus) for her lunch with a side of jumbo shrimp. Let me tell you that pulpo was tenderrrrr and one of the best we've ever had !! I had the apple salad with jumbo shrimp! First it's the best salad!! And it can last you for 3 days it's so much!! If they work on service I would so give this place 5 stars. (Oh and my aunt was charged for a club soda with lemon- that's another little downfall) but the martinis were perfectly made and worth the money for sure !!

I don't know who these other people are bashing this restaurant like DAWN H. I would ignore her review. Not very accurate these days. Notice that she gives every other venue a one 1 star too. The food in general was very good. Well prepared and very delicious. We did dine outside on the patio which was simply a magnificent atmosphere with all the hardscape and beautiful landscaping. It is like a botanical garden. The service was superb too. Everyone was served professionally and in a timely manner. We didn't sit inside so there could be noise issues. Most people need to get over this. VERY GOOD RESTAURANTS THAT ARE CROWDED WILL MOST LIKELY BE NOISY! I would definitely ignore some of these negative reviews and try this place. Unfortunately there are many whiners and negative people that will post an inaccurate review.
