I met a friend here for dinner at 5 PM on a Tuesday night a few weeks ago. It was both of our first times here. I've known about this place for a while, and a friend reminded me that they recently changed locations. We were seated in the bar area at a high table and were given two menus: a happy hour menu that lasted until 6 PM and their regular menu. We figured we'd order a few things off of their happy hour menu while it was still going on, then move on to the regular menu after 6 PM, since we knew we'd be there for at least a couple of hours. We ordered a shrimp appetizer, gnocchi, fries, wine, and a white Cosmo to start. My absolute favorite was the grilled shrimp appetizer, even though the other two were very good as well. My friend's favorite was the gnocchi. From the regular menu, I ordered the ham and cheese croquettes and she ordered the regular cheese croquettes since she is vegetarian. We loved those as well. These four tapas were enough to serve as our dinner and we didn't have to order anything else. The service was fantastic and I thought that everything was priced very well. I liked that there was a parking lot right next-door. A friend met us. Later on for a final drink and mentioned that he liked this new location better than the old location. I would definitely return and try different tapas. Their entrées also looked very good. This is the first time visiting their new location since moving. I loved it. Public parking next door. It's such a cozy spot. Smaller but cozy cómputo their old location. There is an areas where it is more intimate and quieter and another area where there are high tables that are close to the bar area. Service in the bar area and in the dining area were both wonderful. Both the waitress and bartender were awesome! I liked that the menu had items labeled gluten free. Always makes it easier. It was 3 of us that came out to celebrate my birthday and 2 of us ordered an entree and our other friend ordered tapas. We were all very happy with it. I had the grilled salmon and it was perfect! Since we got there a bit early we had enough time to order from the happy hour menu so we ordered Grilled Shrimp and Escargot and drinks of course. Wife and I had such a nice night at the Manhattan. Sat at the bar good vibe to the restaurant. Ordered 6 plates off the Tapas menu all six were very good. The fried eggplant dish was by far the winner of what we had. Leah was are bartender and did an excellent job of keeping everyone satisfied. This was our second time at The Manhattan. I will never understand how restaurants can have such a diverse menu and still have everything come to the table like it's their specialty! Tonight we were after drinks and tapas. A Manhattan for me and one of the large selection of seasonal drinks for my wife. We started with the cheese and meat board. Amazing presentation! Unlike other ones where the kitchen just piles a bunch of meats and cheeses on a tray, this one was well thought out and layered for taste. We followed with the meatballs, ham and cheese croquettes, sautéed shrimp, and Brussels sprouts. All were delicious. After a second round of drinks we added the chocolate lava cake with ice cream and a cappuccino. Claire did a wonderful job taking care of us in an atmosphere that can easily be described as "comfortable." Try it! You'll love it! read more

Another amazing dinner at manhattan! We ordered 6 tapas; our two favorites (aka must try) the mixed casserole and the pan roasted pork belly. We also enjoy the Napoleon eggplant dish; which was amazing! Sauce was not a traditional tomato sauce, very light eggplant was crispy and complimented the dish perfectly! The other three items we chose were tapas specials. We had the lamb chop, so decadent, honestly felt like you were eating the best steak of your life. We also had the fillet medallion, very tender, very blue cheese forward. And the burrata we saved for last, the "dessert" of the appetizers:, burrata in a pastry shell with a blueberry compote, so light! Chefs kiss! Absolutely phenomenal service from our waitress Yuri! Tonight we arrived an hour before closing and I have to say we had exceptional service as if we were the first customer in the door, if not better. Also have to mention the outstanding drinks! Excellent excellent espresso martini, and my mule was stand out too! My man is a whiskey connoisseur and says that they're old-fashioned is top notch. We stopped at the Manhattan for an early dinner on Sunday afternoon. I ordered the special which was a skirt steak stuffed with seafood it was very tender with tons of flavor. My guest ordered the paella it had tons of shrimp in it he really enjoyed it. He couldn't stop eating it but yes, we did have leftovers to take home. It was a nice size portion. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The restaurant was also decorated nicely for the holiday. They also had some holiday themed drinks available. Went here recently on a weekend. Made a reservation and it was exactly on time. It didn't seem super busy. Probably didn't need it. It's fairly pricey overall for Southington. They do a a lot of tapas and larger entrees. The Fra Diabolo was good but a bit of strong seafood taste in there. Server was a very nice and place is clean. It was a last-minute decision we were craving seafood driving around and we're looking for what was outstanding in the Southington area. The usual came up, but this was highly rated so we figured we'd give it a shot. It was an early, Saturday around 4 PM. They've only been at for about a year. Definitely a recommended place to all my friends. The waitress Yuri came over greeted us very pleasant. Ordered a beer and a margarita, looked at the menu and decided to go for some tapas and paella. The tapas we ordered was to share ( decent servings) - we chose the mussels and also the shrimp dish. We also ordered a Caesar salad as well to split. Didn't know if there was gonna be enough food. All three came out at once I started with salad and my wife was picking up the tapas dishes immediately we realized how good this food was. The mussels broth was spicy, but well seasoned actually probably one of the best flavors I've tasted with the broth. The shrimp definitely had a kick to it everything was well portioned and the only issue was we kept ordering more bread because the broth and the base for the shrimp and the mussels were so delicious lol. The host came over to remove dishes but We told him leave them because we were still enjoying them. They brought out the paella and it was a decent size portion and as we started to dig in we realize this place was a home run. I've had several paellas before, but I gotta say this was the best traditional paella I've ever had. Needless to say we killed everything. Our last round of bread cleaned the plates lol ! We probably ate about eight dinner rolls along with everything- which again was my only lacking issue next time I'll bring my own loaf of Italian bread just to dip in all of the broth lol. Yuri the server was great , she was pleasant & funny - drinks were delicious and the price ultimately was very reasonable. This may be my new go to place. (Last visited November 4, 2022.) We heard about a new tapas place that opened up in Southington and decided to take a ride to check it out! Here's how it went and why we need to get back here as soon as possible. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off of Eden Avenue which is a branch off of Main Street is this gem. There is a small private parking lot, but I parked on the street which was free at the time. Inside is wide open and I loved that feeling. It was fairly quiet inside which I didn't mind. The decor was very 1920s speakeasy-ish (if that makes any sense). Red table cloths, wooden floors, black and white brick walls, very classy for sure. The bar is off to the left and the dining rooms are to the right. Service: I can't remember who took care of us per-say, but the owner definitely checked in on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. As a matter of fact, I think once he saw our cameras and phones out taking pictures, I think he actually took over. Lol. Food: We tried A LOT here, so here goes. The Classic Manhattan: Four Roses' bourbon, Dolin sweet vermouth and aromatic bitters gave this straightforward drink classic flavors. Marinated Olives: Black and green olives with Chef Fabians' secret marinade. Olives aren't my thing, but these were delicious when served with some of the bread here. Lamb Empanadas: Served over grilled apple with sweet chili sauce. These were incredible. I'm a big fan of lamb so that could do it. Lol. These were my favorite tapa of the evening. So tender, flavorful and delicious with the sweet sauce. Seafood Spring Roll: The spring rolls rotate out so you may have to come in on a special day to catch these. It was stuffed with crab meat and served over a mixture of delicious sauces! Brussels Sprouts Salad: This thing was BEAUTIFUL and my wife's favorite. The sprouts were actually shaved and shaped into this mountain of a dish and served over like a croquette or something. It was executed so well. Lomo De Cerdo: These are pork medallions served over toasted bread with mozzarella cheese and tomatoes. These were tender, super flavorful, well balanced and also done very well. Sauteed Octopus: It's chunks of tender octopus served with fingerling potatoes, tomatoes, shallots, Spanish paprika, olive oil and sherry vinegar. Octopus isn't my thing, but these were good for what they are. Artichoke Hearts: These were sauteed in garlic, tomatoes, capers and a white wine sauce. Delicious. What can't they do here? Codfish Croquette: These are served over a tobiko and balsamic aioli. They were very basic, simple and made sure the fish shined in this dish. Southington Manhattan: So this place offers many variations of The Manhattan, but the Southington version features Bulleit Rye or bourbon, Dolin sweet vermouth, orange bitters and an expressed orange peel. This was a great take on The Manhattan, but was not better than the original, not worse either. Lol. House Meatballs: These were served in a gorgonzola cheese sauce and were super tender. I loved them and could've ordered many of these along with the lamb empanadas. Value: This place isn't cheap, don't expect it to be, especially if you go crazy with the tapas like we did, but how could you not? There was SO MUCH to try! Our appetizers were between $9.00 and $15.00, but be mindful. Just bring your wallet because this is a place where you're going to want to explore the menu. In conclusion, I loved this place so much. Like, we didn't even make it off the tapas menu to try the entrees! Make your way here! read more

This is a cute spot with a low key vibe. The tapas that we ordered were absolutely delicious, especially the beet salad (it was the best that I've ever had!). As a manhattans drink lover, their variety of manhattans was a wonderful surprise. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because we specifically asked that the tapas be staged to come out at three different times so they'd be hot when we ate them. This didn't happen and we found ourselves with numerous plates cooling on our table while we were still finishing our salad. A good spot in Southington. We have gone at different hours, always good. Although the outdoor patio sits between the parking lot and a backyard, we like to sit there. Everything we ordered was delicious, no disappointments. For my entree, I decided to go with the penne pasta with chicken, Spanish sausage, and vegetables. Pasta was cooked perfectly, the Spanish sausage was a perfect blend of spicy and smokey, and the sauce was not too heavy. Really enjoyed this dish. Everyone at our table was very satisfied with their entrees. For dessert, I ordered the house made carrot cake while my friend ordered the coconut apple pie. The carrot cake was really enjoyable. Very moist and not overly sweet. Frosting was also a perfect ratio of sweet to cream cheese. Loved it. Apple pie was good but consensus at the table was it was a little heavy in orange/ lemon zest. At least that is what we thought it was. But this did not dampen our experience in the least. Service was very good. Our server was attentive and made sure all of our needs were met. Additionally, we had some food allergy needs in our group and the kitchen was very accommodating. Also, there was live music (blues band) which we really enjoyed. The Manhattan is such a wonderful place to spend a pleasant evening - the food, service and ambiance are all first rate! The chef is incredibly creative and talented, his creations are to die for! Another time I wish Yelp had half star reviews. The Manhattan is solid. Friendly service, attentive management, pretty good dishes. Girlfriend got the Caprese salad, which looked great on presentation but in taste the tomatoes should probably be thicker. Still good. I didn't try her crab cakes, she enjoyed them. We came here for a tapas dinner as a large birthday group. We enjoyed many things off the menu. Our top three favorites from the tapas were (to our surprise) the chicken at spring roll, which was delicious with an excellent cream sauce. We also love the shiitake mushrooms which were very rich. We also liked the scallops with the vinaigrette vegetables which were fresh and tasty. Lamb empanada was rich although some thought it was too heavy on the sweet and sour sauce. Our least favorite tapas were the garlic shrimp which we found the sauce to be vinegary and overly spicy and the shrimp overcooked. We ordered two rounds of the meatballs as we had hungry folks in the group but unfortunately thought that they were rather bland and had to add salt and pepper at the table. In regards to cocktails, we thought the Manhattan was excellent as it should be given the name of the restaurant. The two gin drinks we tried were rather weak and watery and the bees knees a little overly sweet. We tried several things off of the dessert menu, multiple people got the ice cream cream puff but unfortunately the ice cream tastes like it is not homemade. The pineapple cheesecake was not a success. The passion fruit cheesecake had a lovely tangy mousse. Both of the cheesecakes had an odd crust that seem to be made of some kind of bread which was quite unexpected. I would have preferred a graham cracker crust. The lava cake was delicious and appeared to be a favorite. Several people wish that they had gotten the lava cake instead of the ice cream puff. They were overall very skimpy with bread and handed out slices individually which was odd. Service was friendly, personal and attentive. Ambiance was a speakeasy theme, clean and well lit although the eating area was quite warm (it was a hot summer day). Bathrooms were excellent, pristine and individual. read more

First time at the new location. New Manhattan lost its charm and niche, it just like everything else in town now. The restaurant area is very small (maybe 8 tables max) adjacent to the door entrance with most of the seating at the bar and directly adjacent to the bar. If you like very loud bar-like spaces, this is a place for you. If you like it quiet and intimate, this isn't it. The food was good, not but not great. The service felt rushed, the prices were reasonable. Likely will not be visiting again unless I'm going into the bar with friends. read more
