Had pizzas which were pretty great. I had a pepperoni pizza which was good, but I noticed they put a lot less pepperoni slices on it then in the past which I was disappointed in. Some of my pieces had no pepperoni at all. I believe their prices are high enough to cover a greater amount of pepperoni as they did before. Also, we ordered chicken wings as an appetizer and they took probably over a half an hour to arrive, and except for the bar there was no one else in the restaurant. Reviewing solely for the not-so-classic BLT. Imagine my surprise when I searched for this outstanding BLT in the reviews, only to find that no one has ever mentioned it! Consistently good place. CT is tough for pizza but they hold their own. Wood fired, good crust (I like to order it crispy). We always end up ordering more than we need because we can't decide on what to get. It is fun to sit street side when the weather is good. The fireplace wings are always a must. Love coming to The Fire Place when it gets warm outside. This place is in the center of Southington and when I am craving some speciality pizza this is where I go. There is indoor and outdoor seating. On the weekdays seating is pretty quick. The indoor seating is a bit dim and kind of tight but it is comfortable. The waitresses are always friendly and attentive. With so many choices of different pizza the waitresses are knowledgeable on what you may like. My favorite is the barbecue chicken pizza and my second favorite is the hamburger pizza. If you get a large you can get half one flavor and the other half another. The wings are pretty good and made fresh. I like the fact this place is next to a walking trail, and you can take a walk before or after eating pizza. The Fire Place is known for their wood-fired pizza, and wings baked in their pizza oven not fried. Half of the restaurant is the bar area, the other half is the dining area, consisting of wood tables with brick walls. A nice rustic atmosphere. When the pizza is served it is placed on a sauce can. We ordered the Smoke House wings that are honey barbecue flavored with sprinkled Parmesan cheese, and a side of ranch dressing. The only size is the 12 pc. After eating a couple of wings we realize they made them with honey mustard instead of honey barbecue. We eat them without complaining. They were nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.Plenty of flavor, but on the small side. (Last visited 10/22/2021.) So I've seen this place get mentioned in The Wingaddicts Facebook group a couple of times so Bae and I made our way here to check this place out and here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: As soon as you walk in this place wraps you up and hugs you. It feels warm, welcoming and it invites you in. There's a lot of stone walls, a little bit of wood and warm, yellow lighting. There are several sections of the restaurant and navigating them CAN be a bit confusing for first-timers, but it's not that bad. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but she was great. There was nothing to complain about and she made sure that we had everything we needed. Food: Now, for the main event! This place is REALLY well known for their wood-fired pizzas that have such a unique flavor, but we are here for the wings. The Fire Place offers wings in 6 flavors, but only in 1 size and you can only get 1 flavor per order. So we ended up with 2 flavors, the original "Fire Place Wings" and their Spicy Garlic flavor. When I tell you I was absolutely blown away by every aspect of of these wings I mean. The texture, flavor, spice, size, everything. These are literally some of the best wings I've ever had. This is exactly what I mean when I say wings that aren't fried take you to new worlds! I did prefer the original flavor to the the spicy garlic, but it honestly didn't matter. I MUST come back to try the other 4 flavors and to film them for my channel! We also split a Spinaci Salad which contains spinach, red onions, Mandarin oranges, pecans, Gorganzola cheese and served with a raspberry vinaigrette. If you like pizza this is a good place to go, there isn't too much else on the menu other than a couple soups and salads and about 4 sandwiches, but definitely a good pizza spot. We got a half and half large pizza, with the shrimp scampi which was good and the mashed potato pizza which was good but nothing extravagant. The waitress was very kind and attentive and their bar area is very cool. They have a large beer and cocktail menu and their special Spring Margarita was delicious. I was super hyped for their pizza because I've heard many great things about it. But instead I ended up being disappointed two nights in a row. Yes I ordered pizza from here two days in a row and was disappointed both times, damn shame. First night I was able to try their Mashed Potato Pizza, Chicken Bacon and Ranch Pizza, and their South Philly Pizza. I'm sorry I could not get pictures of the full pizzas, I didn't want people to wait for me since I couldn't beat them to it. I am very happy that they offer a Mashed Potato Pizza. It was the best pizza out of all of them for the wrong reasons. The Mashed Potato just overpowers the things that suck such as the doughy texture on this thin pizza. A couple people even claimed they couldn't taste the mashed potato at all. Personally, it was OK. Toppings weren't too bad on this one. The South Philly had Italian Sausage, Mushrooms and Onions. This one wasn't bad but the sausage really lacked its presence and if I closed my eyes I would have never knew it was there. Mushrooms were good but the mozzarella got rubbery to a point where I thought I was eating a school pizza. The Chicken Bacon and Ranch I had two nights in a row. Toppings were super uneven, you had to pick and choose. That's normal to pick and choose but legit one had straight bacon and no chicken, another was 50% cheese like there was an invisible wall stopping any toppings from going further north at all costs, but luckily I found one that was kinda even. Sadly the chicken was dry and I honestly had no hint of ranch either. The Veggie Pizza was a hit or miss depending on the slice. One was great, even toppings, not as doughy, not bad! But another was straight peppers! Look at my picture! Come on man! That's just careless! It doesn't need to be perfect but seriously you can't be that busy. All my pizzas were thin but still kinda doughy, slices were noticeably unevenly topped, as well as uneven and dull slices. Service was friendly and quick though, I do appreciate that very much. So glad I made a note that they had baked wings here, because we eat a TON of wings, and as you know, it's easy to find them everywhere fried, and double fried. But when you can find an amazing, baked, grilled or smoked wing? There's not much better! So the whole experience when we arrived on a Saturday night. The outside seating was full, there were heaters and patrons having a great time enjoying the fall weather, food and drinks! We weren't waiting, so we got a table in the bar area. Whoever sat us wasn't friendly or smiling, but hey, we did get a table. Our server on the other hand was pleasant, helpful and came back regularly to check on us since we were having trouble deciding which wings to get. We were having trouble because we LOVE to try different flavors of wings, but you can only get a dozen of each flavor, and we knew we didn't need more than 2 dozen for 2 of us. We ended up going with the Fire Place Wings and Spicy Garlic. They were both AMAZING!!!!!!! I mean, no blue cheese required (though we asked for it, because we didn't know any better) and I even LOVED the dry rub, which were the Fire Place wings. The Spicy Garlic had some sauce, not a ton but just the fact that there was sauce would usually make this my favorite flavor by default, but not this time. Now, that's not to say that the Fire Place wings were my favorite, I mean they were both perfect so I couldn't even choose which I liked more!!! I can't wait to get back to try more wings. The Fire Place wings were crispy on the outside but so moist and juicy on the inside, both flavors were oven roasted to perfection and I couldn't have been happier with the decision to drive 25 minutes to try this place out! Our spinaci salad was good as well, and we got a bottle of Pinot Grigio to share for $25. Came here for the first time, someone had recommended it and I will say I was fairly impressed! First of all they carry the classic Stewart's soda so already a plus for me. Started off with the fire place wings. They consist of their specialty dry rub along with maple chipotle baked in their wood fired oven (not fried). I'm usually not a fan of dry rub and I usually like my wings fried hard but these wings were great! Exploding with flavor in Every bite and juicy and tender on the inside! I was only upset that I couldn't combine flavors and there's only one size, but once I ate them I was very satisfied! Next we tried the Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza. Never been here before, stopped in on a whim. We ordered honey barbecue wings (cooked in the wood fired oven) wings one come in 10 PCs. They were absolutely delicious. Crispy, char-tasting and the honey bbq was great. We ordered a plain (the original) pizza. Cheese was super fresh, sauce was perfect balance of sweetness and savory. Crust was out of this world, thinnish, crispy with lots of bubbles. My wife said it could have had a tad more flavor but a quick sprinkle of grated cheese had her saying that's all it needed. I think it's perfect for those who love the great flavor of cheese, sauce and crispy crust. Adding salt will not be overkill at all. Waitress was very friendly too. It's typically one of our back-ups if one of our favorites has too long of a wait. The pizza is decent. Crust is inconsistent and so are the toppings. The sauce is nothing special. Their house salad is actually really nice and the small is a perfect side to a couple slices of pizza. The wings weren't as good as I had hoped. We tried the maple chipotle flavor. I expected (hoped for?!) some sweet sticky glaze with a spicy finish. Instead they were more of a dry rub - no sauce at all (aside from dressing on the side). To be honest I'm not a huge fan of their wings, but again, I'm from Buffalo, so I have very high wing standards. Their pizza is ok, but I do love coming here for drinks. They have a pretty good martini list as well as a really nice Hot Toddy (tea, lemon, Jameson, amazingness). To me this is a cozy, warm place during the winter months because in the bar area it's dark with no windows which I do like, it makes me feel all warm and cozy! I got a chicken salad that just turned out to be meh, and my husband got a bacon, chicken, and ranch pizza that turned out to be basically inedible because it was more like burned bread with a river of ranch on top. This is a nice little spot with a decent atmosphere. It was somewhat dimly lit with a relaxed feel. We arrived with a party of 5 and they don't really seem to be able to accommodate parties bigger than 4 so we were seated at a table with an extra chair at the end. It was a little tight? But we made it work. We ordered three small pizzas; the shrimp scampi, chicken and spinach, and a build your own with pepperoni and then 1/2 mushrooms, 1/2 onions. The pizzas were a little slow to come out, but we were able to fill the time with our conversation. When our order came out the build your own pizza was incorrect. They had the mushrooms and onions correct, but they forgot the pepperoni. The waiter apologized and said he would have a new pizza made ASAP. Two people in our party planned to split this pizza, one of which was fine with eating the pizza as it was, but the other wasn't happy and refused to wait for a new pizza. The waiter said he could have the kitchen cook some pepperoni and bring it which they were fine with our party. A few minutes later the waiter came back and took the pizza and they added more than enough pepperoni. He then apologized for the error and told us he would comp the pizza. My friend set up a night of drinking and pizza, so I was expecting something a little less classy than Fire Place. I walked in and was instantly drawn in by the warmth of the decorations. Our waiter was awesome (carding each one of us and making us feel younger than we are!) and helpful when picking out drinks. We ordered the focaccia to start and basically fought over each last bite. We then ordered the prosciutto pizza, sans onions, and after 2 pieces I would have needed bigger pants but still wanted to keep eating.
