Salmon with Yukon Gold Potatoes and Artichokes in a mostrada sauce.
Dimitri S.

Had the opportunity to dine here last weekend while visiting New Paltz for a reunion. We rented out the party room (party of 40) and throughly enjoyed the experience. From the bartenders to the servers the service was attentive and warm. I had the New England Clam Chowder for my appetizer and it was a bowl of pure comfort food. Perfect consistency, not too thick or thin and nice pieces of clams. After eyeballing the steak option, I pivoted to the salmon dish and was totally satisfied. The fish was cooked well, with a nice crust and the Yukon potatoes were complimented with the artichokes. Had a bite of the steak and it was also done right. Great food, solid service and an 80's/90's throwback party in the other room that we were encouraged to join, yes! Looking forward to trying some more items on the menu next time I'm up there. Definitely a welcome addition to the town!

The Novella perfect for fall!! Ginger beer, apple cider, maple bourbon and a cinnamon sugar maple rim with a cider donut!

A great place to go with family and friends. Ample space in dinning room area and lounge so that you can enjoy a delicious meal at a safe distance from others. If you want to order take out, it is just as good. Some of my favorites are their Parmesan and truffle fries, BEC burger and Octopus appetizer. They offer brunch 11-3 on Sundays and the eggs Benedict and waffles are so yummy! Come in to get mimosas or spicy and flavorful bloody Mary's.

So pretty. So great. Conveniently located off the thruway, lucky us to find this attractive, clean delicious oasis I enjoyed the butternut squash stuffed with farro and goat cheese. It was moist with a beautiful balance. Not salty. My husband said same could be said for his french onion soup He took advantage of their happy hour six dollars for delicious meaty chicken wings with homemade blue cheese dip and crudités. Again the staff was so personable sweet and attentive.

Panko crusted free-range chicken breast, stuffed with broccoli rabe, Anjou pears, Brie cheese.

The food is fantastic. The entire staff is friendly. The chefs really know what they are doing. If you're looking for a place to hang out, the bar lounges ambience is lovely and service is always consistent. Also a great spot for date night.

Creme Brûlée Cheesecake

My fiancé and I had our 1st meal here last night to celebrate Valentine's Day ....ironically we also had our first date here, at the bar on 3/29/2019. I'm so happy we chose Novella's to celebrate our love. With not many real restaurants in New Paltz we often find ourselves at a casual pub with mediocre food! It was a so nice to have a surprising change...first, we were greeted with a warm welcome by Michael...we were seated at a cozy table for 2 by the window, with pretty lights outside reflecting off the snow...the ambience was warm considering the place could be cold and generic as it also serves as a catering hall...dim lights, tables lit by candlelight, and a gas fireplace. Michael was also our waiter...he was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful in his suggestions...he has a true knowledge of food, a quality many waiters and waitresses lack these days! Let's talk food...we started with the Ahi tuna and cucumber salad appetizer perfect portion size, high quality, and flavorful! I had the salmon with a lemon risotto and fresh string beans! All I can say is delicious! My fiancé had the surf and turf that his mouth was watering over...he said the steak was cooked to perfection..." a little crisp on the outside, leaving a medium-rare inside" something he claims is hard to achieve, I wouldn't know as I don't eat meat! Finally our dessert! A creme brûlée cheesecake in a raspberry sauce with a Riesling jelly on the side to dip in! I'm usually not a fan of cheesecake but decided on it as it sounded interesting and my guy is a cheesecake fan,and I do love creme brûlée...all I can say is wow! I believe a torch flame was used to char the crust which really gave this dessert a stand out taste! I can't wait to go back and try more! Thank you Michael and Novellas for a special evening!

Creme brûlée cheesecake with raspberry couli and Riesling jelly

My friend and I stayed in New Paltz for a few days and Novella's happened to be right across from where we were staying. We went for some drinks and dessert, which were DELICIOUS! We went back again the following night to try new items. I highly recommend the creme brûlée cheesecake, peanut butter and chocolate cobbler, lavender lemonade, mango fizz and blueberry mojito. The patio was decorated with beautiful string lights and they had a large fire pit for people to sit around and still be 6ft apart. Michael, Caroline and Isabelle took excellent care of us. Michael also described the owner as a "true team player" who takes cares of the employees. The employees seem so happy and are glad to be able to serve. I would give this restaurant more than five stars if I could. The restaurant is quite hidden (it's next to the Hampton Inn), but is an absolute must visit!!

It's quaint but feels current, and very walkable. We arrived around 430P and had no issues with parking right across the street. Brandon with the aviation shades, was bartending and doing all the things. He was very nice. We ordered drinks and food with him, and he brought our order to our table. We kept the food order simple. Everything was really good and we shared all of the dishes. Wings - I ordered them sin salsa because I just love a good naked wing Street Corn Fries - these were really good, messy but good Meat & Cheese Board - simple charcuterie Pear & Truffle Flatbread - goat cheese, arugula, basil pine-nut pesto, and a balsamic glaze. This was amazing They have a decent variety of beers on and off tap, and a full bar. I had one brew with my food and it was all good. The vibe is super chill and laid back. The signage is funny, and bathroom is clean. They have a nice sized indoor/outdoor space, and host weekly events. I would definitely love to come back. When we finished up with our kayaking, we passed by again, and the place got packed and was bustling, even on a Thursday evening. Now that our friend had moved to the area, we have a good reason to visit more often. The area is a nice escape from the city.

There are some great vertical drops. But... this is a mountain mostly for people with experience. I think it was a small family place that has grown and become more popular. The facilities and slopes haven't kept pace with that growth. -Most of the trails were ungroomed -Trails are not marked properly ... something is labeled a black diamond on the slopes, but a double-black on the map -There is one green run for kids and only 2 wide open blues -Most of the blue runs are chutes or narrow lanes -There are 2 lifts only. Crowded in the morning, not a big deal later on Lift tickets -Fairly priced -I accidentally bought tix for the wrong date (Sunday instead of the Saturday were were) and there is a $20 "rebooking fee". Seemed like an unnecessary money grab. The staff person was curt and rude. The lodge -Geared towards families that come there a lot (they get lockers) -Apres ski bar/music thing ... which kind of looked fun, just saying -Small and crowded on a Saturday -It's hard to find a table at lunch. Eventhough there are signs warning against it, people put their bags on tables to reserve them. We sat at one such table for 45 min without issue, and the older couple rudely kicked us off saying it was there, they had claimed it and were theirs. -Another 3 tables were pushed together and taken over with piles of half eaten food and a sign saying "don't touch our food". This isn't your personal freaking dining room. -One kid (12 years old?) mouthed off to a staff member (30's?) who responded to the kid "how would you like it if I punched you in the eye". IDK what the kid said and maybe they are related. who knows -2 bathrooms with long lines and the downstairs one was in desperate need of cleaning. -I got a veggie burger that was not a black bean burger as promised and instead some awful veggie patty connoction. It was ok once drowned in ketchup. -The parking terrible. It's $20 for the better lot, which is unpaved and as it got warmer turned into a river of mud. I'll be hosing off my equipment and clothes for sure. Otherwise, the 2nd parking lot filled up and people had to park a 1/2 mile down the road.

In the Catskills, I've skied Hunter, Windham and Bellearye, each multiple times. Plattekill is the smallest among them, but surprisingly has a 1100 ft vertical drop with skiable 110 acres. The main lift is only a conventional triple chair, so it can't handle a lot of people. The only other chairlift open is the adjacent double chair. It had been fairly cold early in the ski season, so they were able to make a fair amount of snow and had more than half their trails open after Christmas. The drive up is longer than going to the other 3, about 20 min further than Belleayre, which for us was over 3 hrs from NYC. The parking lot was not too crowded when we arrived around 9:30. Even though we did not park far, the hike to the lodge was steeper than I realized and even the area around the lifts were kind of steep and treacherous while carrying gear and hiking in clunky ski boots. My days of racing down the black diamonds are long over. These days, I just like to cruise down the green and blue trails. My favorite trail (and aptly named) has to be Shredded Mozzarella, a blue intermediate trail with undulating terrain and mostly groomed snow. My son really liked the blue trails here. The lodge is very crowded with most families squatting on the tables with their gear. We broke for lunch and were able to find an unoccupied table after a while. The food is typical ski lodge fare of chicken fingers, burgers, hot dogs & fries. I did get some hot chicken noodle soup though.

After dining at Shadows on the Hudson, we were elated because we had a beautiful dining experience and were ready for the next day. Came here for dinner on a Friday night and the place was lively and busy. I loved how there were different vibes throughout the restaurant. There was the main dining room that over looked the water, where we dined, a more chill lounge type area as well as a private room - all stunning in their own right. Our server was Nico and he was great - giving us his honest recommendations - from my mocktail to my friends choice of port wine. I had the ginger mule mocktail which was 10/10. To eat, I opened for the classic Caesar salad with crispy chicken which was soooo good and the portion was absolutely massive. A bunch of my friends got the filet in addition to the salmon. We all loved our meals and were the last ones in the place - as the place closed relatively early for a Friday, at 9. All in all, we had a beautiful experience - I only wished it was day time for a view of the bridge - but we were lucky enough to see it next day for the wedding next door. Thanks to Shadows on the Hudson for an amazing dinner!

Once we were seated at the bar (always our preference), I noticed that both the bar and dining areas are beautifully appointed. The bar's lounge area was very welcoming and the chairs looked like we could stay there for hours. We just might when we come back!! Our bartender greeted us with a smile and menus - from there, we ordered a Juice Bomb (IPA), and the Martini Rinaldi (vodka-gin martini). Let's just say I'm ruined for martinis forever and will ALWAYS want this martini. It's a perfect martini ... and I will fight anyone who tries to convince me otherwise. As far as food goes, we shared the Zucchini & Eggplant Chips. SO much food for just an appetizer (highly encourage sharing). Really flavorful chips, served with smooth tzatziki (nicely done!). Husband had the Bourbon Burger (lunch special). Properly cooked burger (med rare), juicy burger, good flavor, great ratio of burger to sauces/toppings, not overly messy but just right, and the fries were double-fried so they had that perfect crunch quality. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (also a lunch special), and I have to say (again), the BEST chicken sandwich I've ever had. Beautifully crisped chicken, cabbage slaw, homemade pickles, chipotle mayo were perfectly flavored, seasoned, and balanced. It's like the perfect bite in an entire sandwich and doesn't leave your hands super messy. The sandwich is typically served with fries but I chose the house salad and it was a nice burst of freshness from a rich sandwich. That dressing is delish!! Overall... this was the kind of lunch that's WELL worth the 90 minute drive (because that's exactly what we did... haha). The Executive Chef (John Malone) is a talented individual and this place is a true Diamond on the Hudson. As a side note ... the real show-stopper is the views of the Hudson River. I couldn't get a proper picture - you'll just have to trust me. Can't wait to come back!!

From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in the comforting aroma of authentic Thai spices and the welcoming ambiance of familiar faces. Each dish we ordered transported me back to my school days, with every bite reminiscent of the culinary magic I had come to cherish at Lemongrass.
