Awesome place for a wedding! We stayed 10 minutes away and the taxi was expensive but all worth it in the end. Wedding was great!

The Belltower Venue - Jean Kallina Photography

My cousin got married here a few weeks ago, and in the invitation, described it as a beautiful…read morespace with this description: "Formerly a church, The Belltower has been a glassblowing studio since 1984. It was recently renovated by the super cool owners, Petra and Louis, and is a brand 'new' venue in the area." It seemed rather small, but was the perfect size for their wedding (although, the way the tables were set up left very little room for dancing...). They have a stage in one corner, behind which was a curtained-off area they had set up as a photo booth. And in another corner is an actual bar. On the walls are old posters from what I think was a cement company? Not sure if these were part of the wedding or part of the venue... Throughout the venue are awesome glass wall sconces, which I'm sure were created when it was a glassblowing studio. The same for the little glass circles in the cement at the entrance to kitchen. Petra and Louis were very friendly. They had a cocktail hour in the little park behind the venue and we had arrived early. I had to go to the bathroom, and despite the rule that you had to go around front, they could tell I had to go and they let me go in through the kitchen. :) Overall, I would describe it as "unique and intimate." The perfect place for a country-style wedding!

Best decision I've ever made, not only is the space breathtakingly beautiful, Petra and Louis were a dream to work with. It served also as the best "in case of rain" back up plan. So i ended up having my ceremony there too! The owners are super helpful in all the preparation leading up to the big day. They are very responsive, and have all the local recommendations you could possibly need. They truly care about your wedding being run perfectly and do their part to help! Im still beaming from the weekend we had up in Rosendale. Its super convenient to get to from NYC. Its truly a hidden gem in the hudson area. Its also very reasonably priced for wedding venues, and its a DIY brides' dream! Do yourself a favor and book your wedding at the belltower.

How can i forget Women's Studio Workshop???…read more There's no way I could gush enough praise of this place that would come close to describing how wonderful it is! gosh, where do i start?? 1) The studios: They transformed an old hardware store from the 1800s into a two story art studio that includes areas for: paper-making, printmaking, letter pressing, bookbinding, ceramics, photography and silk screening. It's set in the woods and surrounded by nature 1 mile outside the small, Hudson Valley town of Rosendale, NY. 2) The artist opportunities: They offer fellowships, studio rentals, residencies, paid-internships and grants for artists (mainly women, but not exclusively female) to come use their studios and create work. --- I, myself, was accepted as a studio intern and lived and worked on the premises for 6 months in the fall of 2005. I learned more in that six months then i did in 4.5 years in art school. 3) Classes: For artists who don't have the time to take off 4-6 weeks to work as a fellow or resident The Summer Arts institute offers 3-5 day classes (lunch included) in all of the studios areas: paper-making, printmaking, letter pressing, bookbinding, ceramics, photography and silk screening. 4) The women: Ann, Tana and Anita (the founders and owners) are all talented artists, friendly, compassionate and inspiring women. ... for everything i missed their website is a wealth of additional detailed information on classes and artist opportunities: http://wsworkshop.org/ .... sigh... I have a little piece of my heart set aside for this place.

HSH response was we should have told them beforehand that we wanted to use the hot tub. When we booked, they should have asked. 24 hours later they finally got it up to the proper temperature. Too late for us to use. Store brought wood bundle that lasted ten minutes. Had to get my own wood. Having been a host in the Catskills for 5 years I would stay away from HSH. I feel bad for the owner of the property as they most likely have no idea what's going on. The last thing I want to do is spend time on the phone with these people who have no clue what's going on. To the point I had to tell them stop calling me as you are interrupting my weekend. Stay clear of this company Home Sweet Hudson
