From the very…read morebeginning, Rick (the owner) was so helpful and always available whenever we had questions or needed guidance. He truly cares about the couples who get married on his property, and it shows. Amber was also incredible--she knew every detail of the venue inside and out and became our day-of coordinator. Thanks to her, the day flowed seamlessly, and we never had to worry about a thing. Her organization and calm presence allowed us to just enjoy every moment. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Our first look photos by the waterfall were breathtaking, and everywhere you turn feels like a perfect backdrop for photos. Guests couldn't stop talking about the cows, which ended up being such a unique and fun highlight for everyone. The Barn at Indian Ridge offers the perfect mix of rustic charm, natural beauty, and wonderful people who genuinely want your day to be perfect. Choosing this venue was the best decision we made, and we will forever be grateful for the memories we made here.

He met with the future couple several times, recommended his choices for catering and floral arrangements but also explained she could use anyone she wanted. She went with his suggestions and hired from his short list and all did great, no, fantastic jobs. The grounds themselves are stunning and pristine. This place is on three hundred acres and far enough from the road and neighbors that there is no concern about how loud you might get while celebrating. During the cocktail hour there were two corn hole games set up which a lot of us had fun trying out. The staff was really attentive and friendly. Everything went off without a hitch. I cannot say enough about the owner Ricky and the simple things he did to be one step above the rest. He had them leave one of their trucks there and had the staff pack up all the gifts and belongings of theirs so they could leave and continue the party without needing to worry about it. The next day when my wife and I took out new daughter back to pick up her truck, he showed up and spent time asking her if she was happy with how things went, and was just friendly and engaging with her, who, was ecstatic with the event and venue and just wanted to talk to him. He hung out and help us pack up the last few items too. His staff also climbed up the ladders into the rafters to take down the flower boxes she built so we did not have to go up there ourselves. All in all, our experience here was great. I have seen some of the photos that were taken and this location as the background was perfect. If you are looking for a venue you could not do any better. There are plenty of hotels withing a short driving distance and he mentioned to us he is planning to put in Glam camping tents as well as buying trailer homes so people could rent and stay right on the grounds. Definitely worth a look!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed not only by the Inn's charm and character but also by the warmth and hospitality of its owner. Every room has been thoughtfully and beautifully decorated, the service is exceptional, and the food is delicious. We quickly felt less like guests and more like part of the family. One of the highlights of our stay was spending time with the owner, learning about the Inn's fascinating history and hearing firsthand about the dedication and craftsmanship that went into restoring this remarkable home. Walking into the Brinckerhoff Inn feels like stepping back in time. This beautifully restored 300-year-old house is a true treasure, lovingly preserved while maintaining all the comforts of a welcoming retreat. Located in the historic town of Fishkill, the Inn sits at the heart of a region rich in American heritage, making the experience even more special. Very cool distillery and restaurant in the Hudson Valley. I can't really speak to the service…read morebecause I was there with a large group of college alumni (nearly one hundred folks). But the food was so well prepared that it should be recognized. We started with a very tasty pork belly bao with hoisin sauce. Their house salad was a very well presented and interesting salad. But they knocked it out of the park with their entrees: roasted branzino with asparagus in a beurre blanc sauce and a strip steak served on a bed of caramelized onions and mushrooms in a bordelaise sauce. In particular, the steak, ordered medium rare, came out tender and perfectly cooked, and was of very high quality. Finally the sticky toffee pudding cake was served warm and was delicious. I would highly recommend the food here. Kudos to the chef!

Title: Exceptional Tour and Truly World-Class Spirits…read more My visit to the Hudson House Distillery was an outstanding experience, elevated by a personal tour with the founder, Charles. The location itself is breathtaking, set in a beautifully restored historic mansion right on the Hudson River. However, the real highlight was getting a behind-the-scenes look at their distillation process. Charles was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate as he walked us through their production of rye, bourbon, gin, and vodka. A must-try is their vodka, which Charles proudly explained is distilled a remarkable 12 times. I can confidently say it is the best vodka I have ever sampled--exceptionally smooth. I was also impressed by their other spirits: Northwest Passage Gin: This gin stands out because it uses naturally soft water sourced directly from their artesian wells. Black Creek Bourbon: I was fortunate enough to sample a limited Founder's Batch of this bourbon. It is truly hand-crafted, made using limestone-softened natural artesian well water. The depth of care and quality put into every bottle is evident, and the personal details shared by the founder made the spirits taste even better. If you have the chance, I highly recommend asking for the tour--it provides an incredible appreciation for the craftsmanship at Hudson House Distillery.

With a little luck, I managed to book a room for two nights during Labor Day weekend with only about a week's notice at the Botsford Briar. I found it on the internet, having never before been to Beacon, a little escape I had planned because of hiking, kayaking, the Dia: Beacon, the boat to tour Bannerman Castle, and Main Street were all within walking distance. I arrived quite early on Saturday via train and headed up to Main Street. I had a kayaking tour reservation and had planned to do that before checking in at Bostford Briar. However, when there was some miscommunication and the tour left without me, the folks at Mountain Top outdoor store called the proprietors of the Botsford Briar (yeah, it's that small of a town) to see if I could check in early. And all was well; they were happy to take me early. My room was ready and I headed over...and up the rather steep hill of High Street. Charlie met me halfway up the hill and insisted on taking my bag the rest of the way. The house is charming and looks just as it does on the website photo. Inside, it's filled with curiosities on the first floor. I met Shirley there too. Throughout my stay, she and Charlie were wonderful. They took the time to try to find an alternate kayaking solution for me, suggested restaurants, went to the trouble of having my breakfast ready quite early on my last morning there since I had to leave before the normal time, etc. I stayed in the Wisteria Room, which was lovely. The bed was comfy. There were a couple of chairs as well as a table with two dining chairs with bottles of water on a tray. In case it was needed, there was an AC unit. Lots of sunlight could come in through the generous windows (though you could pull curtains and shades too). Wifi was free. The TV wasn't a flat screen, but I didn't watch it so, who really cares? The room had wonderful charm and was clearly lovingly decorated. The bathroom was a private one down the hall. However, they've thoughtfully added a curtain one can pull to really make that whole wing private (so you don't feel odd walking to the bathroom in your pajamas; nobody can see you). I loved the claw foot tub and had a nice soak each night. It was a large bathroom with nice towels and was meticulously clean. I spent a good portion of both evenings watching the sunset on the beautiful shared deck out back. It's at the top of High Street and you can see down and across the Hudson River. It's beautiful and a wonderful quiet spot (or a place to chat with other guests, as I did the second evening). Also shared for the guests is a small room with a fridge, cupboard (thoughtfully stocked with glasses, wine glasses, corkscrews, etc.), and a single serving coffee maker for anything you wanted to make or store yourself. Breakfast was quite generous. There was one freshly baked (and still warm!) item each day along with other breads, a fantastic fruit plate, juice, and coffee. The only thing I would have added would have been a hard boiled egg or something so that I could get in a little protein. But with what was provided, I really wasn't lacking at all in nourishment. It's brought to your room at your chosen time on a tray. The location is great. It's easy walking distance to the train station, Dia: Beacon, boat launch, and Main Street. It's within walking distance of a trail head for hiking as well though you should know that it's a long hike in itself up Main Street to reach it. I'm so glad I came to Botsford Briar to get away. It's so clear how much love (and personal talent/handiwork) Charlie and Shirley have put into the place. And they really take pride in making it a wonderful retreat. I wouldn't be surprised if I found myself back there again when weary of the city.

The decor of the room and the b&b are not my particular taste, cluttered, heavy fabrics, heavy wooded furniture. Taste is subjective though and I could imagine another person may enjoy. The air conditioner is positioned in such a way that it blows directly on the bed. I found sitting out on the deck to be noisier than we hoped for...can hear the train whistle and cars on a road in the distance. The morning breakfast spread had coffee, juice, pastries and fruit, none of which were of the best quality. I only met Charlie who was friendly and very helpful. I spoke to a woman who I believe is the owner by phone while booking and when we were likely to arrive after their 9pm time limit and our phone personalities did not mesh well.

It was recently renovated by the super cool owners, Petra and Louis, and is a brand 'new' venue in the area." It seemed rather small, but was the perfect size for their wedding (although, the way the tables were set up left very little room for dancing...). They have a stage in one corner, behind which was a curtained-off area they had set up as a photo booth. And in another corner is an actual bar. On the walls are old posters from what I think was a cement company? Not sure if these were part of the wedding or part of the venue... Throughout the venue are awesome glass wall sconces, which I'm sure were created when it was a glassblowing studio. The same for the little glass circles in the cement at the entrance to kitchen. Petra and Louis were very friendly. They had a cocktail hour in the little park behind the venue and we had arrived early. I had to go to the bathroom, and despite the rule that you had to go around front, they could tell I had to go and they let me go in through the kitchen. :) Overall, I would describe it as "unique and intimate." For my husband and me, it was like a lovely cross between a bnb/camping experience, because we were lucky to spend a morning chatting with Wally over his delicious breakfast sandwiches and coffee--but if you want a secluded, private experience, that is easily yours as well at this lovely farm campsite. Instead of feeling like you're all on top of each other with tent site after tent site like at many places, you have an entire verdant hill all to yourself, with nice flat places for tent set-up, a firepit, and chairs. It is quiet, peaceful, and beautiful, and we slept well on our overnight stay. We arrived really late but that was no problem. The site is charged per person, so it may be more expensive than other places that charge per site, but if you want to exchange a bit of extra money for a much more pleasant space, this may be worthwhile for you. Please note no potable water faucet. We didn't make use of the shower option, but he said one can be installed at your request. The farm is about 15 minutes from New Paltz, so really convenient for anyone headed that way, or toward the Mohonk Preserve for the multitude of outdoor activities there. Wally is a great host with great stories, life experiences, and philosophies, and we look forward to staying there again sometime. Thanks Wally!
