Went shopping at 7:30 AM , Thu Aug 14, to do our weekly shopping. We have been going to this Shop…read moreRite for 10 years. As we went to check out around 8:15 there were no checkers at check-out counters: only self service was open. The self service lines was long, since there were no checkers. I asked an assistant manager why no checkout lines were open? "We had a situation this morning..." Obviously. This was not the first time we had a problem with no checkers available at this day and time. But, it will be the last. If Shop Rite management can't get their act straight and focus on customer service, they won't see any more of my business. Here is a suggestion: have back-up checker capability. What a novel idea. Have an assistant manger open a register: or have one of the employee shoppers open a register. Management obviously does not care about customers. If you read the Yelp reviews, management never responds to complaints. Just demonstrates that they don't care. Bye bye Shoprite: we will move on to Hannafords or Price Chopper that are minutes away.

The sun-dried tomato ricotta ravioli were both "piquant" and "bangin."…read more The ravioli were rolled out, cut, filled, and sealed right in front of me. The pillowy little pockets didn't even need sauce (I ate one plain like a toddler). Nothing against the sauce: it's a celebration of the tomato, bright and smooth. I also got to watch the master (Bivona) at work. It was like what I imagine witnessing the efforts of a Renaissance sculptor to be like. It was also fun and educational watching him guide customers and give them a tour of the day's pasta shapes. For me, one of the best marks of quality is when you can look at the pasta and see the texture. You know that means your sauce is going to cover all that surface area, that will adhere brilliantly to your noods. The Cannookie (chocolate chip cookies sandwiching cannoli cream) was way more delicious than it had any right to be. I'm not going to ever have one again on principle because it sounds like a racial slur for Canadians, but that doesn't change the fact that it was outstanding. The meatballs, were all beef, I think, so it's pretty impressive how light and tender they were--beefy too.
