And now that we live in town, Sunfrost F. still remains our occasional go-to on for plants, produce, prepared foods, some cheeses and other grocery items. The property is huge and there's so much open space, so it was nice to just wander around and enjoy the scenery. We also got some cider and popcorn and of course had to get the apple cider donuts. I love that they have different food and dessert pop-ups throughout the season, so there's always something else to try. The staff we interacted with were really nice and everything was easy. Such a pretty spot for a fall day and I'd definitely come back for apple picking again!

We went early this year so they only had 3 different types of apples available for picking. We picked honey crisp, gala and Jonah Mac. They had a beautiful sunflower farm. Couple of food trucks and their donuts were delicious! Highly recommend checking out this farm.

This family-run organic farm in New Paltz makes Ossining's farmers' market its home and showcases a large variety of gorgeous vegetables (and some fruit). My favorites this past summer and spring were their sugar snap peas, yellow watermelon, huge selection of greens, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, delicata squash, celery, scallions, salad mix, peppers, eggplants, zucchini, and more. I have to credit Taliaferro for almost single-handedly increasing my vegetable consumption from that of a picky child who eats only corn (I jest, sort of) to me claiming, last night, that I could be a vegetarian if for some reason I needed to... except for beef. We've been getting amazing apples and stone fruit from the Maynard farms at the Williamsburg…read morefarmers market for years. But last fall, we had an experience at the orchard itself that we will never forget. We had the best day walking for hours around the beautiful orchard and picking apples. On the way back to the car with our big bag of fruit we realized that neither of us had the key to the car! It must have dropped at some point in the orchard. We were doomed! There was no way we were going to find a small car key within the fields. We walked around for a while looking and gave up we were about to call for a tow. Then we came upon one of the farmers driving the tractor, and showed him the only picture we had taken that entire day. He looked at it for a few seconds and went off in search of the key. 10 or 15 minutes later, we saw him calling for us in the distance. As we got closer, we saw him laughing and shaking his head - amazingly, he had found the needle in the haystack, and we were saved! That day we also got to meet his daughter and grandson, who were taking a ride on his tractor through the orchard and picking apples of their own. Maynard's apples and stone fruit worlds above any of the others we can find in the area, and we stock up every Saturday. But in addition to the quality of the fruit, the farmers are all so nice and always let you taste what's in season before you purchase. And after this experience, it was clear to us that Maynard farms is truly family and community-oriented organization, and made us even happier to buy our fruit from them every week. Thank you for everything! See you on Saturday ;) Love, Melissa and Sami
