    Green Acres Farm

"Green Acres is the place to be..." Green Acres Farm was a great find on our day trip to New York. The sights, scents, and country atmosphere were relaxing and service was quick and friendly. The fruit and vegetables are freshly picked but the baked goods are the highlight. The pies were still warm when they were placed in the boxes. The peach pie had a flaky crust filled with sweet, juicy peaches that were neither firm nor too soft. The oatmeal raisin cookies were chewy and delicious. Two pies, two cider donuts, multigrain bread, and the cookies totaled less than $45.00. I couldn't believe all those delicious home-baked goods for better prices than our local bakeries! I wish we lived closer to Green Acres.

Damn good pies! Like worth traveling for. Wide assortment of fruits and veggies. Jams and spreads are local to the area and worth trying! Cash or check only!!

I've been wanting to come here for years since their pies are the stuff of legend, and I was not disappointed. I was afraid there wouldn't be any left since it was 2:00 PM on an autumn Saturday, but there was a good selection, and they seemed to still be pumping them out! The place was heavy with the heavenly aroma of warm pies. Our pie was still very warm from the oven and the only reason I didn't dig in right in the car is because I didn't have a fork. The smell was killing me on the way home. We picked a apple raspberry pie because I've never heard of that combo and thought that it'd be a good test of their abilities. Well, it was great. Perfect buttery crust. It's up there with Portage Pies in Westfield, NY as the best pie I've ever had. And it was $13.75 which is a very good price. Definitely a must visit when making the farm rounds in Columbia county.

We came here for the pies and they don't disappoint. Just look at the line to buy them.

The best fresh baked pies in upstate New York, very friendly employees and a good family running an honest buisness. What more do you want?

I can't believe there aren't more reviews about this amazing farmers market. Granted, it's not as…read morebig as other FM's but you can find a lot of great gems here, we left loaded with goodies. I counted at least 4 stalls selling different kinds of produce, one of them I bought heirloom apples from where the outside looked like a granny smith, but the inside was pink; super cool and delicious! Also, ended up buying a bottle of bourbon from the Berkshire distillery stall to give as a gift so this is especially convenient if you're from out of town and want to give friends and family local goods. I think the thing we were most impressed with is that there were two stalls offering handspun alpaca yarn. One of the stalls had a flyer with details about what kind of alpaca breed the yarn is from and where the farm is located. (see pic) I thought that made the shopping experience extra special especially as someone who crochet's and is interested in where the yarn comes from. Another interesting item we bought were heirloom garlic bulbs that were bright purple. They're little but one clove has the potency of like 10 garlic cloves; really cool find! Also bought local made soap, farm fresh eggs, and baked goods. Again, even though it's not a very large farmers market, I consider this to be one of the best I've visited; would absolutely make a trip out here again.

I was able to find lots to eat even though I'm gluten free and dairy free. I ate and tasted my way through. It's harvest time, but it had a ton of beautiful local produce. So check it out!

Such an adorable place with really good food. Unfortunately, the service we experienced today was…read moreextremely disappointing. We ordered three sandwiches, and at the time my husband placed the order, he was the only customer there. While we were waiting, two other customers came in, clearly friends of the cook and spent time chatting with her about everything from yoga classes to NYC's Mamdami. After their conversation, they placed their order and received their food before we did, as well as before another couple who had also been waiting. It was frustrating and honestly disappointing to see others served first despite arriving later. We've visited before and had a lovely experience, which makes this even more unfortunate. I believe the woman assisting us at that time may have been the owner or a manager, which makes the situation more concerning. It's a shame because the space and food are wonderful, but today it felt like you need to personally know the cook to receive timely service.

Really cute, kitschy general store/grocery/cafe we stopped at for a bite before skiing nearby…read more Service was friendly, but it wouldn't be my first stop if I were in a rush. They had a ton of food items to peruse through while waiting for our egg sandwiches, most of which were or were made from local produce (farm location listed on the item, which I love). Sandwiches were tasty and the store itself was a lovely space with a sweet, small town vibe that earned it 4 stars; but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the astronomical pricing of everything in the place. For one egg and melted cheese on a bun, it cost $7. To add bacon to that, an additional $5. The sandwich is not large, and the $5 bacon is one slice, cut in half and folded into the center of the roll. For comparison, two eggs on a bagel with either a large sausage patty or enough bacon to cover the entire sandwich, is typically about $6-$7, in a relatively expensive locale. Another important note, the size of the breakfast resulted in both my husband and nephew having to order additional food. At $12 a pop, the sandwich should be more than enough to satisfy an average appetite. Coupled with the pricing of the other items for sale, like baked goods and $12 fresh eggs (which neighbors often give for free or $5/dozen) - it gives the impression that you're being swindled. I live in an area known for high prices, I don't expect things to be cheap. But this felt like they were pricing that high because they're one of the only shops in town and they can, and not because the items are worth that much. The food is yummy and the store is a lovely, small town-type gem that is worth a visit, but the pricing is simply unfair so expect to pay more for less.
