Story Farms is the best farm stand in Upstate, New York! Convenient location with the farm a stone's throw away so you know it's fresh. I love the fact that that they identify what they grow themselves (which is most items) versus what they sell from other local community businesses. Since moving to the Catskills, I've been spending some sleepless nights looking for a market to select vegetables for juicing and cooking like I used to when I lived in Westchester and went to my fave Westchester Greenhouse in Hartsdale every week. In the town of Catskill, NY is Story Farms- a tented area filled with an ok selection of produce+some plants with mostly fair prices. My only issue was not keeping their small, wooden containers then dumping my produce into plastic bags upon checking out. I get it- every market functions differently. Best farm stand in the area. Some stuff is priced extremely cheap and other stuff is priced on the higher end. Depends on the market value and what is in season. Regardless of price the quality is always excellent. They also carry a small amount if various locally sourced items and goods such as dry meats, pastries, cheeses and other packaged goods. While they aren't cheap the quality is top notch. They also carry various plants and flowers. Not a huge overwhelming place but quite small with plenty of parking. Most of the long time locals and residents will tell you this is the place to go for local produce but then go to Price Chopper or Hannaford. But that's typical for country folk. read more

Have been going to this farm stand for thirty years, my favorites are their strawberries, corn and potatoes. However they have so much more, all their veggies and fruit are great. Been here on several occasions, was never overly impressed, prices aren't the best but this last time they had a serious fly infestation. EVERYTHING was covered in them! Flies = maggots. It was really gross. I did end up buying a couple of things that were bagged but even that I regretted later. I was still batting the flies away as I was trying to pay. Had high hope in getting fresh delicious local veggies and fruits here. Got a watermelon, price is doubled compard with other bigger supermarket..( which is fine )...but, the watermelon has pink flesh and was just tasteless.....its just the worst water melon i ever got. we end up composing half of it. As you can see from my pictures, this was a cute little place we stopped on our way back home. Small and out of the way, there was a good selection being put out as we got there. (Early birds are we!) We got a small pumpkin and some earns of corn. (The corn was yummy!) The man who rand us up was all smiles and "Good Morning" as we walked over. I grew up driving past this farm frequently but never stopped at their little stand. I have had corn that they've sold to a local grocery market and it was really good and sweet. I Stopped here to pick up some peaches for my dad which he grew to love ever since my sister brought some home from here. $4 for 5 peaches. A little pricy. That's the only item I looked at. They weren't ripe but 2 days later I ate one and it was a little tangy toward the pit but my dad seems to rave about them. We had to throw everything within the next couple of days. I'm surprised that this place had such high reviews. We live two miles from this amazing family-run farm stand. I get depressed in the late fall when it closes and count the days until it reopens in the late spring. There is no reason to go elsewhere for produce when it's open. Prices are amazing. Staff is incredibly sweet and helpful and the food tastes absolutely delicious. They also sell eggs, cheese, breads, pies in smaller quantities. Mostly local unless marked otherwise. It's a gem. read more

My family and I were in the Catskills for 5 days recently and we visited this farm twice while there. On the first visit, I purchased 5 peaches that were sweet and delicious! On our way home to The Bronx, we stopped by again to buy 5 more peaches that looked great...and when I got home a couple of hours later, every single one of those 5 peaches had rotten pits that looked like a worm was nestled in them!! Disgusting! I couldn't eat any of the 5 peaches! The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the first batch was perfect. read more

Story farms is a hidden gem. This farm is family owned and operated. They sell farm fresh veggies and fruits. They also have a greenhouse for flowers and in June, they have U-pick strawberries. I see some cows at their farm but I don't believe they sell any dairy like milk, cheese, or butter. read more

It's the second year that we are coming back for their fresh corn, tomatoes, peppers, and more veggies. They taste so rich.... Family owned, friendly people serving you all over.
