The meal comes with fresh from the oven dinner rolls, a complimentary glass of wine, tomato bruschetta, side of pasta, and a soup or salad. Most are in the $20 range. You always wish when traveling you find one of those hidden culinary gems, let me introduce Bella Italia. From start to finish our service, wine and meals were exceptional. Brocolini di rapa with spicy sausage was outstanding. Most people believe it's an easy dish to make and it is; however, to make it well is another story and boy-oh-boy does Bella Italia make it exceptionally well. It's all about properly cooking the rappieni; infusing the olive oil properly without burning the garlic in the aglio e olio sauce. When all of those things come together you get what Bella Italia does exceptionally well. Now my wife's eggplant rollatini is one of her all time favorites and here again a dish that exceeded her expectations which. by the way, are very high. The challenge in cooking eggplant is not to obscure the delicate eggplant flavor with the various cheeses, spices and tomato sauce. It is a difficult balance, that chef/owner in the kitchen manages artfully. This was a superb dining experience which pushed this review to 5 stars because of our server Lisa, who understands hospitality and that good service is as important as serving good food. Went here for my grandmothers birthday. The overall experience was great. My father and grandmother ordered some chicken Parmesan with Penne while I had Mozzarella sticks, and Spaghetti as a main. We enjoyed our meals a lot. Very tasty. Though in the booths where we sat, there was a speaker for music but it wasn't playing, so it was a little bland, but it was mostly quiet so we enjoyed our time regardless. And the waitress that served us was so sweet and kind. Our grandmother who was a waitress in her years liked her service. And this last part, I'll write it off as circumstantial. When I went to the restroom, I was only able to get one squeeze of soap from the dispenser before it clogged and didn't work, and grabbing a paper tower was a pain too. My wet hands ruined the towel I grabbed and struggled to get another. But overall, it was a very good night. I would definitely go back again one of these days. read more

I've been getting emails from this restaurant and it's been on my list a while. I can never resist Mozzarella sticks and they were hefty and cheesy! I ordered the Farfalle Bella Italia which came with soup or salad. The soup was a broth with fresh tomato, carrots, green beans and tortellini... SO good. The bread was hot and fresh with a tomato based olive oil mixture which was a different twist. The pasta had med shrimp, fresh mushrooms and sundried tomatoes... very fresh. The location is great. My family has been going here for over 50 yrs (originally Franks Pizzeria & Restaurant). I chose this restaurant for the memory of the location and hoped the food and ambience would be nice.. I am sad to say all around I wouldn't recommend it or go back. We had a party of 20 in from all over the country, including a top catering business owner from LA. 1. Staff are super friendly - but we barely sat down and felt rushed to get orders in. Dinner came out while apps were barely served, dirty plates weren' Edge t cleared, and they were handing us hot dinners plates with no space to put them down. Nobody seemed to care that the AC was not working in our room and when we asked the waiter, he just sort of shrugged his shoulders and laughed. He showed us he set the temperature to 65° and that was all he could do. (thermostat was reading 82° and it was 100° outside); he should've called the manager or the owner. Not just left us to struggle and suffer in the heat. 2. Food was disappointing- I heard the best dish was the broccolini side. (Chicken Parm and chicken Marsala were chewy and bland, seafood was gamey and not very good (didn't finish afraid of getting sick with a big family event the next day), pizza was not good- too much cheese and there are other places around with much better NY style pizza) 3. Prices were high for the quality and flavor of the food. 4. We had NOT been warned the a/c was broke in the room we were seated in. Awful experience. My son has celiac and they promised even after us asking several times that the food was gluten free. When he got his p it had a strand of regular spaghetti in it. We were told they strained the pasta in the same strainer. When I called to ask before even coming there I was told that they have separate prep area and I even specifically asked about how they strain the pasta. Our first visit since the change of ownership. We were greeted at the door with a warm welcome. The place is beautiful and the wait staff was very attentive and our food was delivered quickly. My husband picked Bella Italia for his birthday luncheon. I'm glad he did! We were a party of 13, and again, our table was set perfectly, and waiting for our 1pm arrival. Our waiter was very attentive, filling water glasses, clearing plates, and making sure we were well taken care of. The bread was just out of the oven, and served with a bruschetta topping. Our meals arrived piping hot, with everyone getting the correct plate. The food was delicious!, and the portions were large! Love this little treasure of a restaurant. Have taken many friends there and have never been disappointed. The food is freshly prepared and served by friendly staff quickly. Every meal we've had was delicious. They also have healthy options. We were looking for a new spot to try, so we decided to try some Italian @ Bella Italia. I had heard some favorable things about this restaurant in the past so I decided to give it a try. Parking is ample and we were immediately seated. Hostess and waitress were very friendly and courteous. We started off with the calamari appetizer. The calamari came out in huge Rings which was a pleasant surprise. The downside was there were no tentacles which usually I like, and the calamari itself was extremely Bland. After our appetizer we moved on to our salads. It was a nice spring / Romaine mix. It was topped with red onions and I asked for oil and vinegar on the side which was delicious. A+ for the salad. They also served hot bread with oil and vinegar on a plate. Also delicious. Our entrees then came, mine being veal scallopini and spaghetti on the side, also topped with a scallopini sauce. The plates were pretty as a picture. Mouth watering, I dove right it in. Unfortunately I was extremely underwhelmed. I'm not going to say that it was bad, because it wasn't. But I did expect to have some sort of flavor to the dish. It was lacking. There was however a generous portion of veal. I just wish...it tasted...MORE. I forget what my dinner date had but she also said her dish was extremely Bland. All in all it was not a horrible meal, but certainly nothing to write home about. Prices were so so. 2 entrees and an app (no drinks) came to $58.00. Will I come here again? Probably not. It was a pleasant experience, just not...eh...exciting? Lol... I miss the days when this place used to be Frank's. They had the best Italian food in the area and my family frequented there often. We've been to Bella Italia once and have ordered pizza from here a few times. We heard that the chef from Frank's bought the restaurant so we thought that the food probably tasted the same. Grand opening review. Went here for lunch during a weekday and it was dead. Very quiet which was nice, but also somewhat alarming since this was a beautifully big restaurant on Route 9 with a lot of traffic and activity. There was one other party there in the restaurant. The waitress seemed amateur, not knowing some common items on the menu and making minor, but noticeable mistakes like bringing the serving tray out, but not using it and it was just awkwardly sitting at the side of our table. However, she was very polite, but the service was subpar. She did offer to bring more bread and oil which was great. She will learn. The food was alright I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and it was anything to brag about (I know my fault who orders that at an Italian restaurant). We had fried calamari for an appetizer and the rings were huge. The marinara dipping sauce was mediocre. The chicken Milanese was a good portion thin cutlet, but the breading itself wasn't appetizing.
