I hate gate keeping and I know myself, my husband, and many of my friends supported this place. I mean seriously $3 martini night was something that made this place a gem but without it I honestly don't see us coming back! This place truly has sooooo much potential. I wish I could help them with some ideas to really make this restaurant the spot to be. I can tell you now though charging $19 for a martini is not it!! Also I tried their new banana bread martini and it wasn't great. Which makes it worst that it's so much more money. I mean I am truly a nobody but I have a list of ideas for them if they ever want to know because this place truly has great bones. Here's one for free. On one of your lowest sale nights I'm assuming Thursday because that's when you had your $3 special, why not offer girl dinner? A $25 special that includes two basic flavored martinis and French fries. For $30 include two Caesar or house salads. I gaurantee people with order that. And you can't tell me you are getting hit too hard for food cost for salad and fries? But also you gotta change your decor up a bit. We were taking guests on a tour of the campus in Walkill and wanted to take our friends out to dinner. We saw the good reviews, menu, and outdoor seating at Nu Cavu and it looked interesting. The food was spot on. We had a group of 7 and we all enjoyed it. Our hostess Charize also had to be our delivered 5 - star which was impressive since she had only been in the restaurant industry. She she knew the menu, paid attention to detail, and was checking on us every 10 minutes. Will absolutely will bring back friends and guests. read more

We got screwed over in trivia night tonight. The host refused to explore he could have erred on a right answer and tried to disqualify us.

Came here eager to see what this restaurant was about being its a short drive away. There is a sign in right where you walk in, it urges you to make a reservation and they are not joking. My spouse and I had terrible service, barely checked on. Went multiple times with increments of 20-30 mins without a refill. Inexperienced waiter seems to be training new servers so it implies there is a terrible fast turnover period for these employees. If you like well done food, this is the place for you. If you want your food cooked any less than that, you're out of luck here. It's not even like we came here on an "off day", it's a Saturday on Valentine's Day weekend. Giving 2 stars for the ambiance and general vibe of the place. It's really awesome - there's a small airport you can see through the big windows. Took an hour and a fifteen minutes of waiting for food. When father asked for drink on the house, waitress spoke to manager. No problem. Manager said no! Yes problem!! Father said "ok, I only waited an hour and fifteen mins". Then manager starts making rude comments and trying to bully. She kicks us out and bans us. Just for that. I do NOT recommend!! read more

Came here 4/15/23 with a couple of friends and my wife. We ordered drinks, 2 mules, and 2 special drinks with cotton candy in them. All 4 drinks were made to perfection. For dinner, my wife had the chicken parm over linguine, and it was just right. Huge portions and juicy chicken with flavorful sauce. I had the shrimp risotto that had 2 crab cakes on top. The rice was so good with slices or parmeasan cheese and huge chunks of shrimp. The crab cakes were large and full of crab meat and moist. All entrees came with salads also, and the dressings tasted like they were homemade with how good they were. The view of the airplanes overlooking the airport is such a unique festure to this place, and its fun to watch them land and take off. Overall it was a great experience and the staff there were very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend and will return again. read more

We had my sons rehearsal wedding dinner here and the food was amazing! The ambiance was great, and the atmosphere was perfect! The jumpers from the skydive ranch was a nice touch, they don't always jump. The worker roulette and managers back and fourth trying to set up payments, make reservations, and get information was particularly hard. Slightly a nuisance when your planning a wedding. 8/10 read more

I've been here several times over the years but this is the first time since they removed all pandemic restriction. The food is very good the atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the drinking water they poured into ours glasses. I'm guessing it is well water (we all have it up here) but it was overly mineralogy and had hints of sulfur. We asked about it and the waitress shrugged and said "I drink it". We had to order bottled water. I remarked to everyone at the table,asking " so do you think they cook with this water. What a lovely dining experience we had today! We sat outside and watched a plane land. So cool. We got the Argentine steak appetizer which is sliced marinated steak with papas fritas and chimichurri sauce. This was delicious!!! I wanted a refreshing drink because it was hot outside so I tried the cucumber jalepeño margarita. It was perfect. For my main dish I ate the flounder francese with a side of broccoli rabe and mashed potatoes. This did not disappoint. It also came with a fresh Caesar salad. My sister got the rigatoni Gorgonzola and loved her dish as well. Lastly, the service was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

This was sadly the single worst dining experience I've ever had in my life. We booked the restaurant because we wanted to watch the skydivers at 8 pm. Like another reviewer mentioned, the water was immediately putrid smelling when it sat down. There is no way the servers/management are unaware of this, but we were not warned or offered any alternative. Were they hoping we'd be okay with drinking literal sewer water? Were they just hoping we wouldn't say anything? It's honestly unbelievable to me that no one did anything about this before the water goes out to the tables. We had already been there an hour and a half before the entrees started coming out and by that time we'd had no water to drink so we asked for a couple of bottles of water. The waitress was not surprised that the water was undrinkable but didn't offer an apology. She gave us the same line mentioned by another reviewer: "ice machine was broken, it had been fixed before but I guess it needs to be fixed again." Okay...? If the ice is stinky, it should be a no-brainer that someone on service runs to the gas station to get bags of ice (although I doubt it was just the ice maker, because when we said we'd just have tap water without ice, the waitress hesitated and had a look on her face like "that won't help"). As mentioned above, the entrees took forever and one meal (ribs) never came out. Fifteen minutes after the rest of the entrees arrived, the waitress came over to offer a round of drinks on the house because of the delay, but by that time, we were ready to leave. The member of our party who ordered ribs just canceled the order, and the waitress did not look surprised or tell us it was on its way. I honestly believe no ribs were ever coming or were even in the kitchen. (The rest of the entrees gross--slimy, greasy, not fresh, broken sauces, fishy--and the prices would rival any trendy Manhattan spot. Think $30 per entree. No one had more than a few bites. The only phrase that comes to mind is "the audacity".) When we asked to speak to a manager, the waitress said that they were understaffed, which, per other reviews going back a year or more, seems to be a common line. Someone purporting to be a manager came over and did not seem surprised by the complaints or offer an apology. First she offered a round of drinks and desserts, but obviously we needed to get out of there. Then she generously (ha) offered to comp the bottled water and the entree that didn't arrive! That was unbelievable. No one should be paying for bottled water in this place. When we balked, she said, "the meal is on me." So we started gathering things to leave. Then she came back with a bill! Apparently "the meal is on me" means entrees only. Both the waitress and the manager kept saying "I hope you know this doesn't reflect us and that you'll give us a try in the future." It was so bizarre that this was the refrain instead of apologies. Also, looking at other reviews, this seems par for the course for this restaurant rather than an isolated occurrence. The appetizers were fine, and the salads took a little long to come out but were otherwise okay. The bread was good. The bathroom was completely disgusting. Also apparently the sky diving had been canceled at 5:30pm but no one informed us, so the entire reason we went was moot from the start. read more

this used to be our go to restaurant because of the close proximity and the quality of the food. I don't know what happened since January 2023, but the food and service has deteriorated rapidly. Supposedly, they closed for a month to renovate and redesign the menu, however i have not noticed any changes with the exception that the food is getting progressively worse. I am not one to comment on one meal, but this is the 3rd time we have been here since they reopened, but unfortunately, we will not go back. Totally different staff and cooks which imho has made this establishment a "no go"! Wish they got there act together as we used to love dining here. read more

Unexpected place! I had no idea this spot even existed, yet the people who 'know' have gone 'forever.' The bar area and dining rooms were fairly crowded and it took the food a long time to come out (my friends were vocally grumbling about the wait.) The cute bartender ladies were super friendly and funny flirty. Menu was decent, and mixed something for everyone (mostly.) Ambiance gives off a sort of Golf Club restaurant/bar vibe. Great food & terrific size portions, fair prices. We were seated in what they called "the porch" a nice window-filled room, but a couple of panes of glass (broken) need replacement. I was here celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. It took us about 10 minutes to be able to sit down. Luckily we were able to sit down outside which was lovely because the weather was warm and sunny. First thing we do to begin our celebration is get drinks which kudos to the bartender! drinks are very artsy & delicious! (Divided Skies & tractor fuel). We order calamari & crab cakes, extremely disappointing. Calamari tasted rubbery, almost like it had been reheated in a microwave before it got to our table. From there my entree was the chicken parm & my boyfriend ordered a steak dinner & said it was a half decent steak. The thin piece of cheesecake was also not worth the money. I'm not sure what happened. I read the reviews for well over a year, spoke with friends about this place. We finally went and I have to say I was very disappointed. Let me tell you the pro's and con's. First the place was clean and well maintained. The staff was professional and on top of things. What was bad. The calamari tasted like rubber like it had been cooked and reheated not good at all. We also ordered an anti pasta for the table. It was a complete disaster. I had bad peppers that had gone rotten a few pieces of salami some mozzarella the rest was discussing the plate was served full of water and oil. Things were placed nicely but most of the stuff on the plate had gone bad. I'm surprised no one noticed when they prepared it. I spoke with the wait staff and the excuse was the chefs are out and the people they had are not the normal staff. Tragedy is the name of a Beegees song and it should be playing in the kitchen until the proper staff gets back. Such a shame I'll come back in a few months a try again but first impressions are difficult to overcome. read more

So let me start by saying that i've been going to the Nu Cavu for many years! I love this place so much I decided to have my 40th birthday here!!! It was awesome!! I moved away, I recently came back to revisit this place and it was just as beautiful as I remembered !!! Let me tell you we are difficult customers as I have a tomato allergy, but our waitress Christine was so accommodating. We ordered appetizers such as the calamari, coconut shrimp, which by the way, are the best !!! The chef Mike Gelsomine made my dish to perfection and complemented me with my favorite drink! Then we got dessert and the cheesecake is out of this world delicious It started to rain outside and they quickly put us into a beautiful room without any hesitation I have to say I thought I was a difficult customer but they made me feel like family I highly recommend this establishment to anyone!!!! read more

Unassuming restaurant at the privately owned Kobelt airport. We watched the planes taking off on the small air field on a hot summer afternoon. Atmosphere was nice. Seems like great place to throw a bash and there was a big birthday party going on while we were there. The bar outside was hopping with a live band. We were a party of 10 in main dining room and had Sophia for a server even though the place was busy she hustled and kept everyone happy - she was suberb! One note for management is the upcharge for blue cheese dressing on the menu for a tiny salad that accompanies an entrée. $24 for a chicken parm entrée wi/ pasta - I feel was priced on the higher side. We've eaten here many times but last night was the pits and it was my 70th birthday!!! The meal itself was excellent but our server John was terrible!!!! He had no idea what he was doing!! First of all we told him separate checks. He said okay. We were only 2 couples and we know your establishment does this. We had to confirm our order with him a few times. 3 of us were getting the same entree!!!! My beer order had to be changed because you were out of the original beer. That took about 15 minutes!!! I ordered another beer but never received it!!! We were never asked for seconds of other drinks!! We had to ask for silverware which someone else gave us. We were basicly ignored. In the end he brought us one bill!!! He said you don't do separate checks but he can separate our orders??? 15 minutes later he brings back the check with handwritten 2's on it!! Then he mentioned refills and we told him we didn't have refills. He disappears again for another 10 minutes!! He then said he had other customers!!!! What were we!!! We were tired of waiting so we just split the bill. That took another 10 minutes for him to bring back the credit card. He then apologized and said he was new!!! No kidding!!! He left again. But then he scooped up the cash tip and credit slip as we got up to leave!!! I don't blame him. He was totally untrained and should not have been left alone!!! So much for a nice birthday!!!!
