July 30th - BOGO Thursday. There's a reason for the 3 stars today. I tried to brioche French toast with bacon and eggs, came out of the kitchen perfectly. My friend ordered what she always gets; sirloin with grilled asparagus and a salad. You would think that after the fifth time, in a row, she would would change her order. Considering they never get the steak medium rare until the third or 4th try. The waitresses are always very apologetic, she always tells them "you didn't cook the steak". All the servers know us already, we have been coming here for years. We tip on the pre-BOGO check. The waitstaff still does the same amount of work, even though we're only paying for one meal. read more

Monday 9AM : In the area with a little time to spare. A very pleasant greeting and I was seated immediately in an expensive dining room with clean tables. A few other diners were already enjoying their breakfast. I have not been to a Perkins in a decade so it's almost felt brand new to me. The menu has changed a lot from what I recall. There's a whole section for 55 and over specials which cater to smaller appetites if not lower prices. I had already enjoyed my morning tea, so I opted for water with lemon which came to the table very promptly. One small downside was that the flatware did not look sparkling clean so I ordered some hot water and let it soak. This is a common problem at mini restaurants that use commercial dishwashers. The dishwashers are fantastic when set properly. My order: from the senior section lol egg over easy, two slices of well-done bacon, well done hash browns, and rye toast. Everything out quickly and cooked to perfection. That was impressive! I was also very intrigued by a special promotion going on. A fruity eggroll type of concoction. Diced apples, cream cheese, sugar, and cinnamon rolled in an egg roll and fried to crispy perfection then tossed in cinnamon sugar, and served with a caramel dipping sauce. Oh my goodness it was delicious I couldn't finish most of the meal so they graciously afforded me of travel box to take everything home. It's not inexpensive to eat here, but overall, I think the value is good and you're not rushed in and out. If you just want to catch up with a friend or take the family out for a bite and not be rushed, I think it would be a great spot I wish they had crêpes. I feel like I remember them having crêpes decades ago. Parking is very simple with lots of spaces that meet ADA compliance. The restaurants easy to get into and out of and I think they serve breakfast all day, which is right up my alley. Would I return? If I run the area and craving breakfast, I would consider it. My last visit was perfect; this one was not. We waited 10 minutes to be seated. The table was not clean. The waitress was absolutely stellar: friendly, polite and personable. The pancakes were perfect. My eggs were over easy, but Ai asked for over medium. The steak was OK and the breakfast potatoes were delicious. I am a fan of Perkins. Pleasantly surprised by our visit to Perkins in Wappingers over the weekend. Service was very good, attentive and not obtrusive. We ordered Steak n eggs and I got make your own breakfast 2 eggs over easy bacon hash browns and orange juice. No pictures but the food was as we ordered medium rare on steak and we love yolk to dunk our toast in. Even neighboring tables were greeted warmly so I would never t hesitate coming back for another breakfast or early dinner. PS they do offer an over 55 menu for price sensitive seniors. read more

2/21/2021 Perkins offers a nice variety of dishes along with a bakery for a plus, hence the name. We came during lunchtime and there was a 20 minute wait when we arrived. They asked to write our number so we'd be called, which I've never encountered before. There wasn't enough space to wait inside, so we waited in our car until time passed. Service was a bit slow until our waitress came. Our waitress did a great job answering the questions we had and checking in with us. Getting our food was no issue, but it took a little longer than expected. Someone in my group wanted to order a muffin and did, which didn't come out at all. It took at least a couple of minutes of waiting for our waitress to return. She asked for it again and the waitress took off and didn't come back for several minutes. We then asked for it at the end and took it as take-out. Take note of what's missing if that happens. I hope our experience next time will be better all around. read more

It's unbelievable how this place could ruin a holiday from its lack of accountability and general not giving a f*ck. We ordered a meal for my elderly mother who lives alone in Poughkeepsie and doesn't drive much these days. I was so delighted to see they were open on thanksgiving until 4. I ordered a fairly simple meal to be delivered at 3:50. First I was asked in Doordash to adjust the time to 330. Fine. Order set up, all good. I even got a confirmation text about 45 minutes before the delivery time saying the order was confirmed by Perkins. By 3:46 I get a message saying the order is getting canceled. What?!? Basically sounds to me like these people wanted to close up early with total disregard for their guests. As much as I empathize with wanting to leave for the holiday, I absolutely don't remember the last time I had the audacity to tell my boss i was gonna bail because I didn't feel like doing the last 2% of my work. This was completely broken down in communication. Of course by the time I get this message, I frantically call other places for delivery but most are closed by now and pickings are slim on a holiday to start. This was an absolutely aggravating and disappointing experience, and I'm sad for not being able to get dinner to my mom. So I ended up here because I've never been here before and a friend suggested we try it. We got here just before dinner time and there were only 2 other tables with people at them it was practically empty, I was surprised at the other reviews that said they had to wait in line. The 55 and older grilled chicken dinner wasn't bad with mashed potato and baked potato without the fixings. Food was plain just like I like it, the silk chocolate pie wasn't bad either. It was like eating delicious frozen foods. I especially like the free style Coke machine where you can add flavors to your diet sodas..... the grape sprite was delicious. *****This 5 star rating is purely based off of a large corporate chain restaurant scale and comparing it with other chains*****- The food is 2 stars maybe 3 if you are starving. . If you are looking for a trendy artisanal cuisine with trendy locally sourced ingredients. This is not the place you go. Perkins is similar to a Cracker Barrel without a weird store you walk through. Instead they have a display case with pastries, cakes and muffins similar to what you would see in a traditional Diner. As for the food it's the country themed meat and potatoes/breakfast menu. Everything we ordered as a family (pancakes, eggs, country fried steak, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, muffins, etc) was exactly what you would expect. Was it the best country fried steak? Of course not. But it was cooked and served the way it is supposed to be and it was a good size with a decent amount of sides. Were the pancakes jaw dropping? No but they are fluffy enough and tasty enough considering the price point and serving size. Syrup in the single sized cups was a disappointment but it served its purpose and they gave more than enough. The service was also exactly as you would expect from a chain. They went through all the proper and regular routine questions and brought all the dishes out in the correct order and then checked on the table in a respectable time frame. Overall my 5 star rating is based off of value, service and experience. There was five of us and we all ordered meals drinks and additional sides. We all were more then filled when we left and the bill was about 70 bucks. Usually a night out for the five of us is upwards to 200 bucks without alcohol. I am sure that on a Saturday morning or a holiday weekend the service and experience would be completely different but going during a time when they are not crazy busy was an enjoyable and affordable dinner. I enjoy eating here. The food is tasteful and the watered service is fair. The BIG HURDLE.... the hostess could use improvement. People walk in and they are confused as to where to go o get out on the wait list. The hostess is sometimes available as she wonders around looking for tables however when she returns she seems lost as what to do next. She's a nice young lady however after three times of visiting here and seeing the same scenario play out it bothers me enough to add it to a review. I assume they are in need of more man power and or maybe this is the typical customer service I need to expect. Perkins...yeah, no thanks, not anymore. My girlfriend and I have had a few breakfast experiences at this location, and they have been subpar to say the least. Primary issues usually relate to the food quality and inconsistencies. Previous 2 visits I ordered avocado in my omelet. Both times the avocado's were bad. 1st time they were brown and mushy and the 2nd time they were hard as a rock. Then there were the usual instances of black toast. Really??? Why would anyone cooking in a kitchen think that a customer would enjoy black, burnt toast? And why would a server bring it to the table? Come on people. The most recent issue takes the cake and will keep us from EVER coming back. I ordered the chicken fried biscuits breakfast. Arrived in a timely manner and looked really good. I get half way through my meal and discover a lovely black hair on the edge of one of the biscuits. Hair nets should be mandatory in kitchens!!!! So the waitress takes it back to the kitchen, apologizes and tells us it will come off the bill. What gets me is that no member of the kitchen staff or management came over to apologize. I came for breakfast and it seemed like they had pretty good deals. I ended up getting the classic breakfast which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns or breakfast potatoes and two pancakes. IHOP's seem to get all the attention, but Perkins rolls along, with a menu that's just as good, prices probably slightly better, and a much more pleasant dining atmosphere in general. This particular Perkins has gone through a few changes since when I lived in Wappingers Falls many years ago, when it was a Perkins Pancake House across the street. It's rare I dine here just because there's so many other very good diners closer to me which offer great breakfasts. But today breakfast at Perkins was convenient and good. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I'm guessing the booths are comfortable because they go quickly and sometimes you have to wait if you prefer a booth to a table. There appear to be 2 types of waitresses here: chatty, and terse. We got a terse one, an older lady. She wasn't very talkative but she was extremely efficient, so no problems there. For breakfast, I usually like a combo which features pancakes and some breakfast meat and eggs and some kind of starch such as toast or potatoes. I found almost none of these combos on the menu except for, ironically, the Over-55 menu (shh: don't tell anyone, but I can order from that). It was a little bit of everything, with choices, and most interesting: human-sized portions, reasonably priced. Meal options here are quite good too, with lots of steak options. Some Perkins are (or used to be) Cake & Steak. This one, as a bakery, features the always decadent dessert counter as well. I feel you should always patronize good independent diners when possible. First off not enough meat on it, the bread seemed like something from a quick check. The one thing I will say is, that the service was nice. The counter person was really nice as was my waitress. Terrible food, tiny portions for the price and really bad service!!! The last time my friend and I went there, the fries were absolutely disgusting. They have that nasty coating on them, because they are too cheap to make fresh ones. That absolutely ruins the whole meal! The meal came with free pie and that was also horrible ~ it was way too sweet and tasted extremely artificial. When I complained about this, I received a curt response from the manager, denying that the fries were coated and saying it was the same pie they always use. That doesn't make it right! Anyway, if you want tiny portions and poor quality food, you'll love this place!!! read more

So i had breakfast here today and also purchased a to go order. My to go order was the new dish they created, Hibachi Grilled Shrimp. The first few bites were awesome, then, as I continued to eat, the heavy taste of salt became prominent. It wasn't long before this salty dish made me feel as if I had taken a swim in the ocean with my mouth open. Unfortunately I was unable to let management know of this because I had eaten this later on while at home. Just ordered from them off DoorDash after never hearing of the restaurant before and moving to Wappingers Falls a year ago. Wonderful food! I got the biscuits and gravy chicken sandwich, eggs, bacon, and homefries. All very good! Biscuits and gravy reminded me of my mother's in Oklahoma as a kid! Over the last year i have been here at least a dozen times and always have enjoyed my meal (I must say its always breakfast I come here for.)
