Had lunch here yesterday and was quite impressed. A little less desirable of a ride into the place, thru what appears to be abandoned buildings & a seedy exterior, once inside, the place impresses. And what a magnificent view of the Hudson (we sat outside). We split Thai Cauliflower Bites (amazing), Pork Bao Buns special (amazing) & Margarita Flatbread Pizza (underwhelming). Washed it all down with a couple Spicy Margaritas (I loved them). Overall service was fair (they did bring us out shrimp cerviche instead of our cauliflower bites initially). After a special event in a Newburgh Assembly Hall, we took the recommendation of a local musician and checked out Pamela's . Talk about a hidden gem - literally! It's a small town version of the River Cafe in Brooklyn. Very balanced menu with good portion sizes. The duck was outstanding as was the shrimp scampi and their burger. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable with a great view of the Hudson. Great spot for a quiet private evening. Word to the wise: make a reservation, allow time to find parking , and don't be fooled by what looks like dead ends. It's worth discovering this hidden gem. read more

What felt like getting to a secret hideaway was worth the search! Quaint little place with a great view of the water, Barb behind the bar was a blast! Started off with with 2 CRACKED water glasses, SLOW drink service from bar to our waitress. Apps were decent but portabello sandwich had a rock hard stale roll. Service was good. Ambience was good. Filet mignon was thin and overcooked. In a filet, I expect at least an inch thick; this was half that on one side. Dinner on Friday night. Service slow. Drinks arrived with salad followed immediately by entree. My wife asked for salmon cooked rare. It was overcooked. I tried the Chicken Diane. Not remotely like the actual dish. This was dry chicken breasts that were grilled covered in a thin Sauce plus many mushrooms. Barely edible. Music too loud. Oh what a wonderful Saturday night we had when we met at a place we had never been to - Pamela's on the Hudson in Newburgh. What a hidden gem! It was an easy drive up the thruway and after a few twists and turns, we found ourselves right at the water with fabulous views of the bridge and boats. The inside bar was welcoming with Kelly pouring the drinks, then we moved outside onto the side deck for appetizers and dinner. Colleen, our server, was professional and friendly and added to the fun and relaxed atmosphere. Oysters, calamari and cauliflower starters were delicious. We continued to enjoy our dinners, drinks and time together. Pamela (THE Pamela) came by the table to say hello, check-in and chat (LOVED THAT!!). Went their for Mother's Day 2025. It was horrible worst breakfast I ever had. Had a party of 6. The food for breakfast was cold and lacked taste, waffles were like small frozen waffles. So, here's the update. I had never eaten at Pamela's before. After my horrendous experience there, I started asking around with my friends and family jus to see if my experience as an anomaly. I've tried to go back to a place I had a bad experience to give them another shot. However, they (about 5 couples) all had similar experiences of varying degrees. A long, long time for the food to come out. Multiple apologies from the wait staff blaming a "mix up" in the kitchen. (same with my experience, word for word). Seems like the view of the river will keep a lot of first-time business there. But, the people who I spoke to were all one-and-done with Pamela's. What a shame. read more

Phenomenal brunch!!! Came here on a Sunday with a group of 6, we were seated in a cute little nook area. The decor was so homey and comfortable, the staff was so friendly, warm & welcoming! & the food/drinks were incredible! We ordered a pitcher of raspberry mimosas for the girls, the guys ordered spiked Arnold palmers, all of the drinks hit the spot and were delightful. There was a wide selection of brunch items, we ordered the chicken & waffles, lemon blueberry pancakes, and some other delicious menu items. Everything was truly delicious. I also ordered an Espresso Martini which was strong & chocolatey! :) We will call it adult chocolate milk lol Overall, beautiful experience and the location is amazing with the overlook of the water. I'm torn. If i could i would give 3.5 stars but decided to round up rather than down because the service was really good and our waitress was very attentive. So we came here on a Wednesday when they had their 2 for $60 special. It was kind of hard to find lol but once we got there, the view was beautiful. The summertime seems ideal so you can be outside to enjoy the view more. Inside was really nice too, just not many people on the weekdays which i guess is normal around here. So the food.. not too great honestly. Our appetizers were okay, we both got the same plate - french chicken something. So this plate was okay but i didn't love it. The wine also wasn't great quality. We got cannolis for dessert though which was good. They also brought us chocolate shots which was nice. I dined here the year it opened. Yes, it is a unique and pretty spot. They did not have their act together then, and from what I gather, nothing has changed. Perhaps they should stick to catering, although I doubt that it could be too much better. Why? Same management. P.S. The location and ambience is great. The food was good, the drinks are decent but unfortunately the service was bad. We went to celebrate my sisters birthday. It was a small party of 3. We never received bread or pretzels. We only received 2/3 drinks, they forgot about my sisters (birthday girl). The waiter only checked up on us when I forcefully got his attention. We managed to make the best of it and didn't say anything until the manager stopped by and asked. They offered us pretzels to go. We appreciate the effort but it was too late. This spot looked pretty cool besides the weird location and parking lot, but their service is what took the cake tonight. Something was going on in the kitchen and I feel for them, but the service was pretty terrible. We were here for 3 hours waiting and no food was coming out, to anyone really. Everyone was either getting one plate in a party of 4 or none at all and tables started to clear. We were being pretty nice and understanding for a bit, but we really wanted to just leave since it was a long time. The server was probably frustrated with whatever was going on, so she gave some attitude bringing some consolation food to us while we waited. The "clam chowder" we were given was inedible, look like a concoction of random kitchen slop, and there was one other sushi thing that tasted pretty shit. If I get poisoning from it I won't be surprised. We asked "what is this, it's inedible" and the server said oh you won't be charged for it we're gonna take this off your bill... 1st we didn't order it, 2nd it was offensive you brought us this, 3rd stop acting like we're staying here. We all got up and left, and somehow they charged us half of what the drinks costed. Oh wow 50% off after 3 hours with no real food to show for it, isn't it expected in food service to know when to take your L? You guys messed up, sorry if anyone was going through something, but it completely derailed all of our plans and we didn't really get an apology. I went there last night, and it was a horrible experience from start to finish. The food took forever to come out, and when it finally did, it wasn't very good. There was a live singer for entertainment, and she continued to let children sing in her place, so not only were we there for hours, we had to listen to lousy karaoke all night.
